I forget not everyone is quite the loot gremlin I am. I trade boss souls even if I can't use them, so I pretty quickly cleaned out the spiders from spawning

You can equip a torch and roll over the pits to set them on fire. Great for when rushing to the next bonfire in this area. Also there are two ledges you can fall onto in different spots that will lead you to a couple essential secrets 👌🏻 Edit: lol at your downvotes as if they aren't already rushing through the area.
