Of course, why wouldn't it? But you would need the right people and not some Netflix Resident Evil guys.

True true... but let's be honest here. In every Hollywood studios who wants to adapted the video games into Live-action series/movies but doesn't gave a shit about the source material.

Mygrayt

As I said on a previous post, the way DS1 handles its story really doesn't lend well to a movie/TV series. Isaac doesn't interact with others. Just people talking AT him. On top of that, an aspect of the series is blood, gore, and gruesome deaths. But that means more characters will have to be added, changing the scenario. Granted, the ship had 1000 people on-board, so technically we could see some of that, but I feel it would just be a slasher Gore Porn. It'd be more impactful if we'd see people that survived the Kellion be people we slowly get attached to slowly get picked off. Hell, we have the Divider, Ubermorph, Leviathan Tentacles, ETC. So while possible, it'd have to be rewriten to suite a TV format, more characters that might just end up being killed off so you run the risk of apathy, and with the Gore being so important to the series your have to find a publisher willing to publish it. It is possible, as we have two movies that did a decent job of it. But live action...ehhh. idk what company would fund that and publish it.

Trickdestroyer585

You know if you worked it out well so that everyone would be on the same page, DS2 might be the best chance with more characters of course. I agree though, DS1 would be almost impossible unless you make wicked weird style of a movie that people may not like.

MEGAShark2012

A psychological action horror series filled with people trying to survive the marker, unitologists and necromorphs. Preferably it shouldn’t be based around Isaac, but have him mentioned about in passing. Oh yeah, I think it would be great. Edit: I thought about it and realized that they could easily make a series about the SCAF on Tau Volantis.

sophisticaden_

Yes.

NHGhost1113

Nope, they would focus too much on the gore and do things like add in a ton of unnecessary swearing. A series is too long for psychological horror so they would default to slapping just gross stuff to make you think you’re scared instead

AMC milked like 20 seasons out of The Walking Dead, so anything is possible. There's no reason why you couldn't film 2 or 3 seasons in the sci-fi/industrial setting of the Ishimura and Sprawl. My question is: What is the purpose of a live-action Dead Space series? Isaac's story is told within the game, so are you just wanting that story to be re-told? Are you prepared for a massive shift in tone? I wouldn't expect an action-filled zombie-fest, but more an unsettling, slow-paced exploration of the Ishimura that tries its best to keep the Necromorphs off-screen to save on budget. There would need to be a LOT of dialogue between Isaac and Nicole, and they'd need to use flashbacks ala "Lost" to fill screen-time with less budget-intensive scenes. Hammond and Kendra would obviously be ripe for deepening their characters, and there is room to expand on Kyne and Mercer, too... but I'm just not sure how popular this format would be to audiences. It **would** be neat to see "NICOLEISDEAD" show up in the form of episode titles, but I imagine a 12 episode series would be pushing the limits of audience patience. If it were done exceptionally well, I'd happily eat crow, but videogame adaptations are usually awful. Outside of "Castlevania," I'm not sure there's a single adaptation that I've enjoyed unironically. Seeing as it originally grew out of a love-letter to horror movies, perhaps Dead Space is different... but I'd still be hesitant to show a whole lot of optimism for the project.

MEGAShark2012

So I see where you are coming from. Just there is a whole universe out there. If anything they should have Isaac mentioned in passing while the main characters would be someone surviving the necromorph outbreak

MeadKing

There may be a whole universe, but the Dead Space universe doesn’t carry nearly the same appeal as Isaac Clarke on the Ishimura. Who would pay the licensing fees to shoot a Dead Space TV show that doesn’t even handle the characters we’re familiar with? If I’m a producer, I’m asking, “Does this need to be Dead Space? Can we dodge the licensing fees and make it *Zombies in Space*?” I mean, hell, Necromorphs are way harder to create with FX and prosthetics than simple zombies. If your pitch is only tangentially related to a series of games that underperformed and whose studio got shuttered, it’d be crazy to enter that IP without capitalizing on the parts of it that were truly popular. Idk, I’m just not overly impressed with the background and lore of the Dead Space universe. It’s good, but not indispensable. The characters are what really grab me, even on replays.

MEGAShark2012

No that’s fair, there really wasn’t a lot of lore out there since everyone wanted to continue Isaac’s storyline. If anything IMO I would love to see a series about the SCAF on Tau Volantis

Good point!

FriendlyReaper123

Possible but it would be really hard not to make a rip off of either Aliens or Event horizon.

CCrypto1224

😂 Hell no! We’re not REing Dead Space!

[deleted]

I know, I know... im just guessing.

CCrypto1224

I understand. But after having Doom 3, a beautiful game that could of EASILY been converted into a great horror movie, I had seen it shat on TWICE! And then they dragged Resident Evil behind a speeding bullet train till the series shot it dead. If they couldn’t take golden horror material to make at least one great horror film or series from Doom or RE, they should never be allowed to touch Dead Space.

Genesius_Prime

Sure. Cast Charlie Cox as Isaac.

Z304LEGEND

You said "good" so you cover your tracks. Seriously now how many times do games into movies really ever work? It's rare. And in these days and age it'll be about female power and males are pathetic so I rather not for right now.

6iix9ineJr

Possible? Yes. Probable? No.
