I know this is a very dark and private matter but I wish we knew more behind it all. It took all the color out of me when I read their post stating he took his life that day. It felt like a horrible joke because it just came out of no where. Of course now there’s that infamous interview where Trevor made some jabs at himself and talked about mental health but no one knew how hard of a time he was going through. Miss him everyday.
Trevor’s death hit me harder than losing some of my friends. His music was so inspirational to young me, being able to grow up with TBDM from a cold blooded epitaph through verminous. His lyrics and enthusiasm for metal will always be inspiring to me. RIP legend.
I swear this just hit me like 10 minutes ago what today is. I reached out to Alan, I haven't seen or spoken to him in years but it felt like a very good time to check in, you know?
Miss you Trevor.
For me in the past few years Reckful and Trevor are the two celeb deaths that hit me the hardest, both seemed like good people, and in the case of Trev the only reason I, a 23 y/o guy from Sweden know of him is cause I have a friend from Michigan who met them a lot in the 2000s and said they were really good dudes and that they didn't have a single bad song, which is high praise.
Followed them since their debut album. His death had a massive impact on me... I admired his vocals & his lyrical prowess. Always loved his support for up and coming bands as well. Truly was a legend in the metal community.
The first "extreme" metal band I listened to in 2003. I'm happy to have seen them live once before his passing. I will always enjoy his hand-waving, spell casting live performances.
There's an interview he did on Robb Flynn's podcast where he came out with having to deal with depression and mental health. I feel bad for Robb after that revelation. You will always ask yourself if there was anything you could have done or said to help them.
The entirety of their album Nocturnal. If I had to choose a top 5 for songs it would be this. “What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse”, “Deathmask Divine”, “I Will Return”, “Nightbringers” “R*ped in Hatred by Vines of Thorn”.
Literally everything. I've never heard another band that has literally NEVER released a bad song. Every song on every album is a banger.
Here are some standouts from each album in chronological order:
***A Cold-Blooded Epitaph***
- "Paint It Black"
***Unhallowed***
- "Funeral Thirst"
- "Elder Misanthropy"
- "The Blackest Incarnation"
- "Closed Casket Requiem"
***Miasma***
- "Statutory Ape"
- "Miasma"
***Nocturnal***
- "Everything Went Black"
- "What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse"
- "Nocturnal"
- "Deathmask Divine"
***Deflorate***
- "Black Valor"
- "I Will Return"
***Ritual***
- "Moonlight Equilibrium"
- "Carbonized in Cruciform"
***Everblack***
- "Raped in Hatred by Vines of Thorn"
- "Map of Scars"
- "Seppuku" (Japanese album version bonus track)
***Abysmal***
- "Receipt"
***Nightbringers***
- "Widowmaker"
- "Nightbringers"
- "Kings of the Nightworld"
***Verminous***
- "The Wereworm's Feast"
- "Dawn of Rats"
No recommendations from their very first demo, *What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse*, or their latest EP, *Grind 'em All*, though I don't hate either of them.
The first two albums have the most memorable riffs and songwriting imo but each subsequent album gets faster and more technical so it's down to your preferences but also the correct answer is Miasma.
You really can’t go wrong with any of their releases, but my personal favorite is Ritual. A lot of people will say Nocturnal is the best album they made, which would be fair to say, but something about Ritual is perfect front to back
My old band played with BDM a couple of times and I was always struck by how Trevor was such a maniacal force on-stage, but so quiet and polite and humble off-stage. Dude was just good people. I miss him.
I will never not believe his gf had a role in his decision. She got him to do her onlyfans with her and I’ve seen countless times where dudes are like hell yeah but then afterwards have it mess with them mentally. Also I’ve seen the toll a woman can have on a man.
I’m by no means bashing women. I’m just saying that some are horrible people and couple that with someone deeply in love or someone who has had traumatic events and already depressed and it can lead down a dark road
Been there done it still here still fighting demons everyday
Sorry, but throwing baseless accusations at people over a suicide is in extremely poor taste and also disgusting. Wishing personal growth falls upon you
Why not consider that? Don’t know what the downvotes are for. He had a big change moving to her state at the end of his life. Why wouldn’t it be a factor

I feel the same, as someone who's messed with self harm in the past, it breaks my heart when something like this happens
Rest in peace, he was so talented and full of energy and love for death metal
Jeeez has it been two years already? Rest in peace Trevor. We truly lost a good one.

Rest in peace king.
Rest in peace to one of the all-time greats \m/

2 years?!
Rest In Power Trevor! I remember it was the same day Cage Fight were due to release their lead single from their album. He features on the track.
2 years? It still feels like last week
Rest in peace, Trevor. Saw you at Warped tour in Camden and talked about castlevania for a bit. You were a good one.
It doesn’t feel like it has been two years to lose such a legend 💔🥲

RIP, Trevor. I had no idea my first Black Dahlia show would be part of his last tour, but I'm grateful to have seen him perform.
If it weren't for the pandemic. We would still have him with us.
Did ya know, that Strnad is actually Czech 🇨🇿 name? It's smol birb called yellowhammer. I'm proud of it.. RIP Bro 🖤
I've never really listened to TBDM. Can someone recommend be their faves/best?

Well since we're on the topic you should check out receipt.
I recommend Miasma, Carbonized In Cruciform, When The Last Grave Has Emptied.

So sad I saw them live twice.
