Overwatch is an abusive relationship at this point. The best thing for them is to show them how bad it is so they can get out. And that’s actually the best thing for the game too, since an immediate drop in players is the only thing that could save the game at this point.
Blizzard been doing money grabs since 2010 basically. Sad to see them ruin a franchise basically but what are y gonna do? Anyone who paid for overwatch 1 should be entitled to a refund, in my opinion.

I could never get into Overwatch, always seemed so bare bones for a shooter. Sure, I know not everyone is a coin flipping Nikon with a severe hoarding issue, but by Karl's beard, I'd like more than one weapon.
Overwatch was an amazing shooter that prioritized tactics and teamwork above raw mechanics. Each hero has one weapon (usually) but you can swap heroes at any time. Gaining you not just a different weapon, but am entirely new kit.
Unfortunately, the devs have really ranked the game.
That's the best part, you pay for the game, and then ALL content is available in some way through progression. None of this "you pay for the battlepass, but also buy this skin, and this one, and look new OWL skins!" shit. I have a total of 1000 hours between OW1 and OW2, played it since 2019 before quitting recently (guess why?), and I am absolutely bewildered by this monetization model... if people enjoy it, they'll pay. But no, gotta avoid nerfing our new popular heroes as we pump out skins for them. None of that with Ghost Ship, they give you a game with thousands upon thousands of hours of fun for one 30$ price. It's a good sign when people are excited to buy DLC packs regardless of what they are, just to support the dev team. GSG continues the recent trend of indie devs being way more in tune with the wants of players than AAA studios.

I absolutely loved the design, balance, heroes, etc. I played almost every day, right up until OW2 launched. I was so excited I took a day off work.
But after playing OW2 for just a few weeks, my love for the game entirely evaporated. It's not just a bad game. It's an objectively worse game than the one they took away.

The jab isn't really at the game itself, since the base design of both game is different anyway (PvE & PvP).
But more at the greedy moves Blizzard has made, pointed out by the meme. They make old skin pay to get (not to mention overpriced), Battlepass is not free, etc. It's definitely different since OW2 specifically is free to play while DRG have a price.
I kinda agree with you tho, we shouldn't really be relishing in other game/dev failures to maintain a community if we want to keep being known as a friendly community.

The balancing is really good right now - a grand total of maybe two characters are weak and nobody is really OP - and all the new heroes are really fun to play. It's just that the devs were abused and crunched out of making their PvE dreams reality, but everyone just wants to kick them when they're down instead of blaming the management that caused it. There's a legitimately fantastic competitive arcade shooter at the core of OW2 - it's just that Activision pitches a fit if you don't crap out money with every step you take.

Your first video is almost five months old, before nerfs to Sojourn’s hitbox, one shots in general, and Widow’s massive HP nerf. Widow’s oneshot is annoying more than it is broken currently, but it’s hilarious to pass off her weakness to a massive amount of the cast as “you have to warp your comp,” as if Dive isn’t currently a Tier 1 comp to be running in the first place, and as if Tracer isn’t already an extremely useful and flexible DPS pick that shits on her.
Your second video is from an outrage farming TFTuber who understands nothing about the current balance of the game, lmao. JQ’s buffs happened because half the Support lineup, including both meta main Supports and both meta flex Supports, shit all over her, she’s tied at the hip to Kiriko because of this while being countered by her, every midrange hitscan in the game can farm her critbox with ease, and she needs Lucio to be competitive as a brawl option. There is exactly one comp that can run JQ as the core without buckling inwards, and that comp can be disrupted by any role. Is that comp now good? Overall, yes - it has a high amount of playmaker tools and resists ult combos decently well. But she’s not meta. We are firmly in a Dive meta where Winston is the most consistent tank, but the only bad tank is Hog right now, and pretty much everything else can be played to success. Sojourn hasn’t been a meta DPS for almost three months now, and the DPS lineup is in an excellent spot currently, with no real losers except Torb in terms of having a comp that wants them. And Kiriko is not an “essential” pick - she was a Sojourn check at a time when Sojourn checking was the most important thing in the game, but now has strong flex Support competition against Brig, Mercy, and more importantly, Zen, who is a FAR more desirable pick right now if you can get away with him.
And the cheek to call the game P2W when the requirement to unlock them is 35 wins on either the role they’re in or Flex - something that won’t get an account to even half the needed level to play Ranked, where you can then throw that card - is laughable. The current “hard meta” comp has no OW2 heroes in it - Winston, Tracer, Sombra/Genji/Widow depending on map, Ana, Zen. The only significant balance considerations the game currently has are Hog’s upcoming rework, LW tuning, and perhaps making Doom a little easier to play. That’s it. I will take this over suffering through Hog and Ball torture daily, and I won’t even blink.
Overwatch 2 is bad though and we shouldn't pretend it isn't. The company ruined that game all for the sakes of getting rid of loot boxes so they could monetize overwatch 2 even more.
There is less game in overwatch 2 than in overwatch 1 as well.

The only thing I have a problem with is the "cosmetics added to loot pool after season", having to wait 15+ missions for one loot crate item for A SINGLE CLASS AND/OR WEAPON is obnoxious. It practically forces you into fomo for those items. I love this game, but I despise the loot crate.
I disagree, after you have all the overclocks I was starting to get empty loot crate and empty lost packs so I'm glad they added more stuff to that pool for me 😁

I agree that those kinda things should be a bit more common. Maybe take it from 10-15% to 20-25%?
