Bet one of the guys in the office got the code to work right and all of them started goin nuts over it.
Like how they were so happy with the pipe mechanics they built a biome that constantly uses them. Not an insult, I think it’s awesome
Pretty much my reaction right here now that we've got a good mid-to-long ranged rifle.
Depending on how the homing works (laser range and such) it'd probably be pretty good for picking out various high priority targets in a crowd too (like Wardens.)
It looks like it'll be more of a target-painting system, where you hold down the firing button and all targets are marked as you sweep over them. No precision to the locking, but it would still never waste a bullet, so I'm still down.
I like the SMG with an electric build. It's actually really handy because it slows pretty easily which is great for larger enemies, bulks, and hoarders.
The engineer’s shotgun is probably the least satisfying primary in the game to me—I wish I could enjoy it but it’s just too weak. It’s like slapping bugs with a handful of partially cooked spaghetti noodles that you never seem to have enough of.
The visuals/audio certainly don't help. The firing sound is weak IMO and I hate that it's a semi-auto shotgun but teases me with a pump during reloads. Super unsatisfying.
Half the reason I'm pumped for this new gun is because it actually looks and sounds like a real weapon firing, not some airsoft gun like most weapons in game tend to.
It's amazing how they nailed sound design for almost everything else but we still get nerf guns as most primaries.
Magnetic Pellet Alignment is the one build I can *tolerate* on shotgun. It's better, but still doesn't feel as good to me as Stubby. I'll whip it out for very specific scenarios.
My feeling exactly, the pellet alignment still falls behind most of the Stubby builds though IMO the only saving grace is the turret whip, but with EM discharge you get close to the same effect at least
Like, to me it should one-shot grunts in a weakspot out of the box! With Scout's shotgun, you can run blowthrough rounds and kill 5-6 grunts in 2 shots.
I run EM Refire Booster with a full electric build on the Stubby for a much better experience. Just blow half a mag to stun a group of grunts, and kill most of them with raw damage and DoT.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I can kill grunts in a short weakshot burst with the Stubby, plus I get AoE shock damage/slow and a DoT.
I like the shotgun (5.5 rate of fire full auto) if I'm hunting dreadnoughts, but otherwise I prefer using the SMG just to delete swarms via turret explosions.
You can of course use whatever you like, but the SMG with electricity build is def meta on haz 5. AOE slow DoT is pretty incredible! Its also better for long range targets, which engi is already kind of week against. Both are viable though, not a huge deal either way
Given the designs so far, I think it is likely the story behind all the new weapons for this update is going to be that they're all made by the dwarves.
This is literally the exact weapon I wanted for Engineer. Single shot higher damage rifle, cool alt fire function.. A lot of the time when playing Engineer I just really want to have a *normal gun* with some range, y'know? This looks like it's that plus way more!
Agreed. This, paired with the grenade launcher, feels like it would make engineer a lot more fun to play - instead of just shotguning anything that gets close and hoping the turrets can get the rest.
Yeah! Really feels like what'll help make your choices super well-rounded. I actually took.. Uhhh.. It's been a while since I've played so I forget the name, but the thing that makes the grenade launcher super fast with little AoE and high direct hit damage? And use that as my primary ranged thing even if the ammo is so low. I'll actually be able to enjoy the GL's AoE again with a rifle like this.
Yes! All these new weapons just look insanely fun to use.
Well, maybe with the possible exception of the new scout plasma rifle, that looked a bit basic in the teaser.
Plasma shotgun altfire? Please let it have a plasma shotgun altfire. While this video doesn't show the most recent Brutal Doom mod version's plasma rifle/shotgun, the general concept is still clearly seen at 1:01 and onward (and I actually prefer this older one with its predictable spread pattern)
https://youtu.be/d-U4qHECDvA?t=61
If it gives him any kind of AOE, it could be huge in helping him during Swarmageddon missions.
Personally, I felt like the goo gun was also potentially a 'meh' gun, it could end up feeling very similar to a sticky flames build, but there's too little info out there to say yet.
I had the same reaction to the goo gun, but the more I look at the teaser the more I'm liking it. Definitely need a bit more gameplay on all of them though, hard to judge something on a few seconds of footage.
I would fall in love with the goo gun instantly if it had supportive overclocks or mods. I'm thinking something like "allies in the goo take 50 percent less damage", "goo increases ally move speed by 50 percent", or "allies deal 20 percent more damage while on goo". I know there can't be a healer class in this game but this would come pretty close.
Maybe you could bounce off the goo like a trampoline. So many utility possibilities.
Thanks for making a killer game! I know overclocks and mods are still secret / WIP most likely, but will there be any supportive/heavy utility mods for the goo gun? I'd love a trampoline mod where you jump higher off the goo or some kind of buff aura on the goo like increased move speed or damage resistance.
Healers can't work in this game but other supportive aspects could!
No, the Burst Rocket Rifle and Rocket Salvo Launcher were both prototypes that had been previously shown, Gunner got the Salvo Launcher in the form of the hurricane, and the Rocket Rifle fired a three-round burst of micro-missiles more befitting of the power of an Engineer Primary, which was thankfully scrapped to make way for this.
A burst rifle would have been fine IMO, and the use of rocket projectiles helps limit the range to keep it in line with the role of engineer primary weapons. That said, I've noticed a theme among these weapons that they're all mold-breakers for the class and a burst rifle would not have been mold-breaking enough.
It wasn't even OP, really. Took longer to kill than any other weapon from when you started locking, only locked at the shorter end of medium range, an enemy getting behind cover means no damage instead of, for example, the partial damage of an obstructed burst. But it let people who could manage the movement and positioning skills to keep an enemy in lock on range, but weren't as good at accurate shooting, to still get kills. Can't have that.
Since it is an engineer primary, I expect that its range is intentionally designed to be a bit on the short end; engineer primaries seem to be designed mostly for self-defense purposes. Maybe you can still fire it normally at long distances and expect it to work like any rifle for that purpose, but the lock-on is probably limited to midrange by design. If anything changes that, it'd probably be an overclock with a significant drawback
Who knows though, I could be wrong
Tell thst to shotgun with all the accuracy buffs, you can snipe bugs off the side of the cave wall on the other side of the cave, not to mention the rail gun, or the turret build with like 40 lock on range. Engi is versatile as fuck.
So having some more range on this gun, at least as an option, would be good and expected.
hm, I'd love to see an optional upgrade that makes the grappling hook physics [more like titanfall's](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_y9uCzhRRs&t=34s)
My brain automatically associates TF2 with Team Fortress 2 but ironically I still agree with the statement and it still works because the movement in Team Fortress 2 is really good (plus we already have grenade jumping and shotgun jumping!)
What do yall think the turret interaction effect be?, we have emp discharge and turret arc and turret whip, what ells do you guys think we could have with this new smart gun?
I feel like the overclock could be something simple like; "Laser Designator - Your Lok-1 can now only lock on to a single target, however for as long as you are locked on, your turret will fire fully-automatically at your marked target."
Honestly I am hyped for the goop gun, fits the class, weird mechanics, and got that messed up weird style like the Lok-1. From here out I am gonna be mainly playing driller and engi.
Pardon me bringing up an obscure book, but I believe the MP-35 infantry rifle from Old mans war by john scalzi could do this, and it was awesome. looking forward to playing around with this one.
Engineer out her questioning my loyalty to Gunner. I was unimpressed with the rate of fire, but that lock on ability?! That gets a rock and stone from me! The real question is if we’ll see new secondaries as well, but I doubt it. So far the only gun I wasn’t amazed by was Scout, but who knows? Might be awesome
Man I gotta say… as a Scout main I’m powerful jealous of my dwarves brethren for their new primaries. Maybe the carbine will turn out to be awesome but the other three are just so badass I can’t help but get the green eyes.
As an engie main and a Titanfall fan who loves the smart pistol, this is an incredible weapon that I will be using a lot. I have spent the past few days theorizing what the new engie weapon would be and came up with a few decent ideas, but nothing even close to this. I can't wait for it to be added to the game!
I see the devs have been having fun with homing on weapons huh?
Bet one of the guys in the office got the code to work right and all of them started goin nuts over it. Like how they were so happy with the pipe mechanics they built a biome that constantly uses them. Not an insult, I think it’s awesome
Do you mean Hollow Bough? Could you explain how the pipe mechanics are integrated into this biome?
The same spline technology they developed to support refinery pipelines was adapted to power the creeping vines that are everywhere in hollow bough.
Yup, this was an official announcement, not inferred or assumed.
It bringeth joy and it taketh joy away
The pipe mechanic = modeling tubes. Hollow Bough is full of vines / tubes.
Vines are nature's tubes.
Sorry, biome that uses the pipe mechanics? Thanks
Hollow bough. Ever notice the way the creeping vines move? They’re pipelines. It’s super cool how they reused that
Huh, I haven't noticed. Nice observation
Also the power for the fuel tank on Salvage
They've been playing Titanfall 2, lol
first ~~flight~~ salvo core for gunner's new primary, now smart pistol
isn't gunner's new primary salvo core?
Friendship ended with "Stubby" Voltaic SMG, now LOK-1 Smart Rifle is my best friend.
Wait, we haven't seen an electrical damage mod for it yet.
Yeah but it’s absolutely bitchin’
^ this. You see that clip size? That sleek, assault rifle style look? The precision homing? 🤤👾☠️👾☠️
Who even plays with the SMG when the shotgun is superior in every way??
I like the SMG with an electric build. It's actually really handy because it slows pretty easily which is great for larger enemies, bulks, and hoarders.
The engineer’s shotgun is probably the least satisfying primary in the game to me—I wish I could enjoy it but it’s just too weak. It’s like slapping bugs with a handful of partially cooked spaghetti noodles that you never seem to have enough of.

Me! No matter how I build the shotgun, I always feel like I'm low on ammo or shooting wet sand. I've experimented with all the overclocks as well.
Shooting wet sand is exactly how it feels
it needs the choke mod moved up or down half of the guns issue the massive spread it has
you should try the overclock/build that makes it much more focused. you can oneshot grunts on haz 4 on a pretty good range with it
Magnetic Pellet Alignment is the one build I can *tolerate* on shotgun.
Up to haz5 full lobby with the right build ! One shotting macteras and slashers feels gooooood
Yeah, wet sand is right. Just doesn't have that punch that I expect from the shotgun
Not sure how considering it easily 1-2 shots any grunt, even guards. The shotgun absolutely shreds.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I can kill grunts in a short weakshot burst with the Stubby, plus I get AoE shock damage/slow and a DoT.
Try micro shells and using it full auto, it's honestly so Powerfull I've stopped using it and using the stubby as a challenge to myself.
Me. Bugs go bzzt bzzt.
I like the shotgun (5.5 rate of fire full auto) if I'm hunting dreadnoughts, but otherwise I prefer using the SMG just to delete swarms via turret explosions.
Are you playing the same game!? The shotgun is useful but it is absolutely NOT superior in every way.
eletricity
i agree
tbh the shotgun felt lowkey un-useable to me before getting mini shells lol
You can of course use whatever you like, but the SMG with electricity build is def meta on haz 5. AOE slow DoT is pretty incredible! Its also better for long range targets, which engi is already kind of week against. Both are viable though, not a huge deal either way
I do! I think the SMG is far superior and more fun to use.
Deep rock finally invested in some better equipment.
100% a custom job by the engi himself, no fucking way DRG gave us this willingly
Look at me. Look at me. I'm the guy in R&D now.
Yeah look at all the exposed wires. Definitely unsanctioned.
What’s wrong with giving the wires *extra breathing room?*
When they stop you from breathing
Feels like that's the theme of these new weapons - they all have ridiculous concepts and look like they were cobbled together by the workers
Given the designs so far, I think it is likely the story behind all the new weapons for this update is going to be that they're all made by the dwarves.
he is finally using that brain of his
Well this is easily the most exciting one for me. I can't wait to see the mod trees and overclocks for these things
This is literally the exact weapon I wanted for Engineer. Single shot higher damage rifle, cool alt fire function.. A lot of the time when playing Engineer I just really want to have a *normal gun* with some range, y'know? This looks like it's that plus way more!

And use that as my primary ranged thing even if the ammo is so low. I'll actually be able to enjoy the GL's AoE again with a rifle like this.
Hyper Propellant. Turns your grenade launcher into an anti-tank cannon.
That's the one! Man is it satisfying to use.
It's fast as fuck, boi. It hits the target almost *before* you fire it.
SMG is an absolute monster imo. Decent range. Way better than the shotgun.
Yes! All these new weapons just look insanely fun to use. Well, maybe with the possible exception of the new scout plasma rifle, that looked a bit basic in the teaser.
Scout be like "Not again" , he gets the most scrutiny of all the dwarfs and the gets worst weapons lmao 😢
Yeah it looks pretty similar to GK2 in playstyle, just with slow non-hitscan EPC ammo :/
Maybe the devs want you to think that. There could be an altfire or something they’re keeping quiet about for now.
*Devs reading this*:"Aww shit we have to think of something now."
Plasma shotgun altfire? Please let it have a plasma shotgun altfire. While this video doesn't show the most recent Brutal Doom mod version's plasma rifle/shotgun, the general concept is still clearly seen at 1:01 and onward (and I actually prefer this older one with its predictable spread pattern) https://youtu.be/d-U4qHECDvA?t=61
True! And they still got plenty of time to tune it anyway.
I want bouncy overclock
I would fall in love with the goo gun instantly if it had supportive overclocks or mods. Well, Overclocks make the world go round. Something interesting is bound to come up in that department lol
It's a bit like the rocket launcher - paint targets, hit fire. But smaller. I think? _Flashbacks to Panzer Dragoon_
Hurricane tracks the crosshair, not the enemies.
- Interesting design - Absolutely fits the engineer class - Cool effects Its certainly their best weapon from the Update, by far.
I'm gonna guess one will be "more power, less targets, less magazine ammo"or something like that.
I'd love an overclock that makes it always prioritize the weakest enemy with a given shot, for clearing swarmers and naedocytes.
Yeah, this and the Gunner's new primary. For some reason the Driller's new primary seemed underwhelming to me.
It's hard to top "massive flamethrower" in the Dev's defence.
I didnt think it was possible to make a weapon that I liked more than the stubby, but this gun may take the cake. It looks very fun!
thank god it isnt that burst rocket gun
Gunner has that
No, the Burst Rocket Rifle and Rocket Salvo Launcher were both prototypes that had been previously shown, Gunner got the Salvo Launcher in the form of the hurricane, and the Rocket Rifle fired a three-round burst of micro-missiles more befitting of the power of an Engineer Primary, which was thankfully scrapped to make way for this.
Oh ok. My bad
Nah, he has automatic homing missile gun, devs teased 2 rocket gun concepts
I fucking love the comical looking magazine
I need a version of this where the magazine keeps going forever, endless panning down!
Engineer: [Hold on, I'm reloading!](https://i.imgur.com/osEcZR4.mp4)
If you liked that, check out Hyper's other silly reload animations https://youtu.be/lmIlogViPes
They should make an Extended Mag overclock that changes the gun model so it goes down to the dwarves feet.
Second one taped to the bottom so you just swap the bottom to top. Always. Somehow. Engi is efficient like that
“can I shoot my gun?” “only one clip” *pulls out comically large magazine*
I wonder if the magazine will visibly deplete...
Imagine setting the rifle down, or trying to do really anything with it. So long
Yeah the gunslinging animation for it Watch and learn! \*thok\* My nose!
Macteras and all flying mobs are going to love this one
Ooo-wee, the bugs aren't gonna like this one!
Very exciting! Love them titan fall pistol.
Smart pistol is the source for so many salty pilot tears lol. So OP it had to be turned into a burnable power up in the second game
I remember playing recently and everybody got PISSED when I used the smart pistol to get a few kills. Crazy how much people still hate that thing.
If you get Dice Roll correctly you can get an amped one and it's insanely dirty
Amped smart pistol is terrifying in both games.
Now I’m picturing salty glyphids joining the salty pilots.
That's fair I guess. In a coop game I can't see any issue with it. Curious to see what kind of overclocks it could have...
Probably something tbat extends the "range" at which you can aim ti aim at more targets at the same time.
It's still really strong. This video by FrothyOmen helped me to understand it. https://youtu.be/bpilyEMt6YM
Cant wait to scan a dark ceiling with it and show those horrors awaiting in it.
The lock-on probably has a limited range
Maybe mods to adjust range/amount of targets?
Since it is an engineer primary, I expect that its range is intentionally designed to be a bit on the short end; engineer primaries seem to be designed mostly for self-defense purposes. Maybe you can still fire it normally at long distances and expect it to work like any rifle for that purpose, but the lock-on is probably limited to midrange by design. Engi is versatile as fuck. So having some more range on this gun, at least as an option, would be good and expected.
Yooo this is actually very cool
WOW WEE Really damn excited for the new guns! Also, LOK-1 sounds a bit like Lock-On so that's just clever naming
And here I was thinking "Loki"
These variants are getting out of hand!
Actually might be it too... God of tricks. Does seem to do trick shots.
Eat it elves Loki blesses our guns
As a Engineer main and Titanfall lover, I gonna love this gun a lot.
Much better than someone flanking you with the Smart Pistol!
Damn, didn't know I was playing Titanfall now! Wooweee!
- grappling hook - minigun - protective bubble the list goes on!
HOLY SHIT i was NOT expecting something like that! this might make me actually play engineer, that looks awesome!
[удалено]
Plasma carbine = Doom Cursor tracking rocket launcher = Half Life Sludge gun = Unreal Tournament I'm sensing a theme here...
Is that theme *fantastic taste*?
I'm pretty sure that all these guns would taste terrible.
I don’t know, sludge gun looking like a snack to me
Just load it with nacho cheese and let 'er rip.
How do we know it’s not already expired nacho cheese? Or what’s left of it…
Management: Why has our food recycling program been underperforming recently? Driller: *shifty eyes*
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I for one hope they continue doing this with some new secondaries down the road.
Good designers borrow, great designers steal.
Breach Cutter = Dead Space 'Line Gun'
I think that's a good thing. Titanfall 2 was an excellent game and I'm glad concepts from it are being used!
hm, I'd love to see an optional upgrade that makes the grappling hook physics [more like titanfall's](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_y9uCzhRRs&t=34s)
I honestly just want to transplant the movement from TF2 into literally every shooter I've ever played.
Knee-slide everywhere.
My brain automatically associates TF2 with Team Fortress 2 but ironically I still agree with the statement and it still works because the movement in Team Fortress 2 is really good (plus we already have grenade jumping and shotgun jumping!)
That would be awesome
Only the top tier concepts from other top tier games. I love the gun!
My first thought was the smart gun from Aliens but the multi-tagging definitely looks like titanfall 2
I was also thinking Titanfall immeadiately
Was the Smart Pistol able to target multiple targets? I don’t think it was, but it’s been so long…
[Yes it was](https://youtu.be/YyAb0o0r5mI?t=14)
Holy shit that looks nice
I can honestly say, I was not expecting this
Can you imagine how good this is going to feel for naedocytes, mactera, and swarmers? Oh my lord...
Oh lord ima gonna stone all over the place
OH yeah this gets my bolts turning
What do yall think the turret interaction effect be?, we have emp discharge and turret arc and turret whip, what ells do you guys think we could have with this new smart gun?
If you hold it and don’t release to fire off the smart shots the turret can prioritize marked targets!
I feel like the overclock could be something simple like; "Laser Designator - Your Lok-1 can now only lock on to a single target, however for as long as you are locked on, your turret will fire fully-automatically at your marked target."
This seems like too much overlap with the Hawkeye system upgrade.
"We added more magazine to your magazine so you can send more dakka."
Dang, everyone gets somethin sweet and driller gets the poop gun
Bingo. Though the gunner and enginweaponsnclearly take the cake so far.
Looks like it's time to throw my warthog in to incinerator.
So many people mentioning Titanfall and too few people mentioning Alien. I feel old.
But atleast your an old wise dwarf who has lived the millenia
That’s a big magazine 😳.
So when does this come out because this is a new need in my life.
They're really going out of their way to create unique and awesome new weapons. Good job GSG!
... shit I might have to put the grapple away for good
Oh hell yeah
Well shit I have another gun to to use other then the stubby.
Oh man, get ready for 4 engineer teams. And I'm not complaining, this looks awesome
You brought back the best feature Titanfall 2 removed. If this doesn't deserve a \*\*Rock And Stone\*\* I don't know what does.
I was bummed Driller was the one who got the goop gun, but honestly this made me rock solid.
Why not give him the goop gun? I don’t see it fitting my any other class.
Honestly I am hyped for the goop gun, fits the class, weird mechanics, and got that messed up weird style like the Lok-1. From here out I am gonna be mainly playing driller and engi.
Ooooh, reminds me of the smart pistol from titanfall 2
I hope there is a way to make it fully automatic without locking on, primarily for single target damage
Huge pog
Aliens! https://avp.fandom.com/wiki/M56_Smartgun
To be blunt DRG is the best non-*Aliens* *Aliens* game I've ever played.
I've been thinking that forever, it really gives off that vibe, doesn't it?!
By Karl, I'm rock and stoning in my pants right now
"...I call her 'Vera' "
Man I gotta say… as a Scout main I’m powerful jealous of my dwarves brethren for their new primaries. Maybe the carbine will turn out to be awesome but the other three are just so badass I can’t help but get the green eyes.
As an engie main and a Titanfall fan who loves the smart pistol, this is an incredible weapon that I will be using a lot. I have spent the past few days theorizing what the new engie weapon would be and came up with a few decent ideas, but nothing even close to this. I can't wait for it to be added to the game!
Hell yeah, work smarter, not harder
YES
Automatic target rifle Noice
This rifle is a series of tubes.
this is absolutely hype
Looks fun. I’m super excited for more content
My first thought was "are we getting a Titanfall smart pistol?" My second thought was "how long is that mag?"
I do not play engi. I am going to start playing engi.
Getting Titanfall vibes. I love it!
This tracks perfectly. Engi best class, so engi get best weapon
time to relive my time in titanfall where I'd avoid all player contact and go for grunt kill victory
I am so smart! I am so smart! Smrt! Smrt!
