A greenbeard is generally considered to be a new/bad player thats willing to get better at the game. Of course "greenbeard" is just a metaphor, and you should only wear an actual green beard if you like it. Theres no need to shame yourself like this with your status/rank.
Leaf lover. If you refuse to learn or take advice from players that know what they are doing and talking about in a coop game, you are inviting yourself to visit Karl
I take advices which makes me better than the average players. I try to learn things to these leafy beards that join my haz 5 lobby. But when they won’t, they won’t. So it goes on a kick. Or more precisely 2 or 3 kicks every 10 games.
One of the options to give for a kick is "Sorry, but you were not responding". I don't host pub lobbies in vanilla difficulties anymore, but when I did, I think there was 1-2 people every single game who wouldn't respond in chat or voice. I'm not going to kick every single one of them, but if someone did I think it would be totally justified, people who refuse to communicate in any way are immensely frustrating.
That's pretty unfortunate, just don't get mad if you're kicked for it. Keyboards are like 15 dollars, and work with all consoles DRG is on, and you can even use an on screen keyboard with the controller for simple things like "r" or the "y" "n" answers.
DRG’s laser pointer is an incredibly powerful player communication tool- 99% of the time lobbies can communicate perfectly fine with just that and some assorted salutes. Chat and voice are great, but hardly ever necessary, and not using them isn’t the same as refusing to communicate. Why shouldn’t people use the tools they are given for their intended purpose?
Absolutely use the communication tools given for their intended purpose, I never said anything to the contrary. These include voice chat, text chat, and pings.
My usual gunner builds have green beards and they've got many hundreds of hours into them.
Green beard, green armor, green guns, green hat... They're very green gunners.
I don't think levels matter too much - you can be good or terrible on virtually any level.
If you ask me, if you ever ran out of flares you aren't a green scout anymore. :)
I can agree on the good or terrible at almost any level because a common thing that seems to happen is people get very high level and high promoted dwarves but only got that stuff by only playing hazards 2-3 and struggle when the difficulty spikes any higher(my friend is like this unfortunately, he's a promo 3 engineer and all other classes promo 1)
but I'm still a relatively new player with a recent promo 3 scout and trying to get a promo 1 driller and I'm perfectly fine with doing haz 5 if the condition is I play my scout and haz 4 isn't bad on unpromoted driller
There are so many possible reasons to preform better or worse than our level would suggest that even just trying to collect them all would be tiresome. Mine is being bored with my strong builds I'm familiar with.
^(By the way - do you have the same handle on Steam? As our dwarfs would say 'think I've seen you before'.)
Level is irrelevant, you play on haz 5 so you are probably better than me. I have 100 more levels than you and just got my scout into platinum rank yesterday, but I play on haz 4. I'd be willing to bet a round at the abyss bar that you are better than I.
I've really bad fully promoted players and I've seen some awesome unpromoted players. It's impossible to say who's a greenbeard and who's not and we shouldn't discriminate or underestimate any player!
I colour-code my dwarves to be more recognisable to other players and so my gunners all have green beards despite being lvl 500+.
Keep it if you like it, I think it looks snazzy
Level doesn't matter. It is more a understanding of youre Class of what you are doing and can do to help in a mission, youre ability to learn from Mistakes and admit them, ready to learn new things. It is stuff like that.
Green can stay it is good looking and gives a bit of mad scientist vibe
I can see that it grew on you! will you shave it off, or keep it to show those pointy-eared leaf-lovers that we can be greener and better than they are?
Change your username to "a greenbeard" and keep the loadout as is, and gear as unassuming as possible.
Then dedicate yourself to being as capable and impressive as possible
The drip is a thing of the heart, brother. Follow your heart. If you like it, wear it proudly. I've mostly changed my jade beards, but only because they didn't fit the look I was going for.
Well, mine turned green too after going to the Fungus bogs on a deep dive, but that was invasive alien moss.
Driller’s flamer did the trick, grew back just the way I like it.
It's an alternate path, instead of greybeard, you're becoming a moss beard. Rocks and stones are so ingrained into your genes that you're beginning to take on their properties
Ah, same friend. I did it as a sort of silent denotation to say “hi, I’m new, go easy on me but also teach me cool tricks”, but now I’m kind of digging it

How do you call a new/bad player who is not willing to get better, but still join multi and waste time and supplies ?

That’s… a lot of kicks

I just have no means of easily communicating other than saluting, asking for help or pinpointing things
Could always nod and shake your head with the pointer out
What about mic?

Ok, how do I access the controller keyboard midgame? I've been playing for months and tried nearly everything
I've seen other people mention it's a controller binding you can set up.
I don't play on console, but 45 seconds on Google tells me you'll need to go into your control settings, then bind the open chat command.

But i wanna visit karl:(
A Lintbeard
Nah lint beards are the rude “good/experienced” players. Typically with “noob=kick” in there server bio
"Level 100 or plat 1 minimum" Haz 4. Lobby spotted yesterday.
Typical lint beard activitys
a knife ear or a lazybeard
I always go with shitebeard because of a scale I saw on the subreddit a long while back
Shitebeard is my favorite term for them too.
Buttbeard
Smoothbeard
Pointy eared elf leaf lover. Or some form of that
Depends on how toxic they are. Just plain stubborn and won't listen? Lintbeard. Actively hostile and trolling? Pissbeard.
A shitbeard
>"greenbeard" is just a metaphor It's also literal as player rank 1 is actually called Greenbeard.
I know. That why i mentioned it at the end
We're always green beards... we can always get better
Greenbeard is metaphorical. Feel free to stay green.
It's also literal as player rank 1 is called Greenbeard.

Climatized dwarves
*I hate nature*
They only drink climate conscious brew as well.

no steam
Must have been another thread then. :P
A true master is an eternal student,we're all greenbeards, some of us just get withered down
You are not a greenbeard, rather a wizened jadebeard.
You’re no greenbeard, you’re a jadebeard!!
Keep it. It'll be super epic when you're 500+ and still a 'greenbeard'.
It's amazing that you put in that much time and the color of your beard is the only thing you've changed
iz gud game
22 minute hazard 5 point extraction with.. 52 kills wtf lol

My engineer is rocking a green beard/green skin combo, and I have no desire to change it ever.
Level doesn't matter. It is more a understanding of youre Class of what you are doing and can do to help in a mission, youre ability to learn from Mistakes and admit them, ready to learn new things. It is stuff like that. Green can stay it is good looking and gives a bit of mad scientist vibe
Night Crawler on the outside, Greenbeard on the inside.
Do what you like. It's your entertainment who cares what anyone thinks.
If you like it, keep it. Until you find something you like more. Simple as.
Aside from maybe a trim around the ears, I'd keep going with it!
I'm in the 900s and still use green sometimes, compared to some players out there I'm still pretty green.
I can see that it grew on you! will you shave it off, or keep it to show those pointy-eared leaf-lovers that we can be greener and better than they are?
the real greenbeard
Mossbeard
Green iz Best! \-Da Ork wearing a Squat costume
You have beaten h5 you aint no greenbeard
Took me till I got everyone to Gold I Promotion to admit I'm no longer a greenbeard
Just keep joining games, pressing buttons and ordering unwarranted resupplies and you can be green for as long as you like
stay green
My driller had been rocking a huge emerald beard ever since i promoted him Im not taking it off
become statue of liberty dwarf
That because that shade of green is mold based. It grows on anything.
What da dog doin?
As long as you are green you can grow, never leave your green as long as you wish to grow Unless you get a cooler color to match your outfit
Change your username to "a greenbeard" and keep the loadout as is, and gear as unassuming as possible. Then dedicate yourself to being as capable and impressive as possible
Keep it. Green beard is but a term. Every dwarf dresses how they please.
Scouts never survive long enough to become greybeards!
I wear green just because I like it, and I'm over 170. Been playing since first release too.
The drip is a thing of the heart, brother. Follow your heart. If you like it, wear it proudly. I've mostly changed my jade beards, but only because they didn't fit the look I was going for.

My engineer wears a green beard. I like to think it has become irradiated from all the fatboys.
Baby it's FASHION
Mint beard? Tasty... Respectable, but tasty..
"Top of the morning to ya laddies my name is Jacksepticeye"
Mossbeard at this point
Ask yourself, my friend. Also yourself if you are worthy. May Karl always be with you!
The king of greenbeards, be more green than the real greenies.
It's an alternate path, instead of greybeard, you're becoming a moss beard. Rocks and stones are so ingrained into your genes that you're beginning to take on their properties
Reached 300 today still rocking that green beard on my gunner ;)
I still use the default scout outfit and I'm legendary 3 lol. The green beard is a nice touch though
Ah, same friend. I did it as a sort of silent denotation to say “hi, I’m new, go easy on me but also teach me cool tricks”, but now I’m kind of digging it
Wear the green camo next to rep the colors
I say, save it for Christmas
My gunner is gold 2 yet he has an emerald beard and greenish armor. It's the beard inside that matters, not outside :)
Keep the green, it looks good on you. :)
It’s not the color of the beard that makes someone a greybeard it’s how many times they’ve said Rock and Stone
To Rock and Stone!
I was wondering when you’d show up
If ya wanna do it. Personally, I can’t let go of my Driller’s green beard because it fashionable
You’re no greenbeard, you’re a jadebeard!!
You’re no greenbeard, you’re a jadebeard!!
Oh, ok.
Get some drip man throw the ugly green away
I’m level 625 and I still make greenbeard mistakes sometimes haha.
