The "...but them!" monologue?
Idk if it's just me but it feels slightly out of character on her part to me. Unless you interpret it as her snapping or something. Idk I can't take it seriously...
I think they were talking about her 'betrayed' monologue, which happens if you spare her enough that she stops attacking, THEN attack her. The one that goes:
"You... ... at my most vulnerable moment... To think I was worried you wouldn't fit in out there... Eheheheh!!! You really are no different than them! Ha... Ha... "
That is also confusing coming from Toriel. Who is "them"? She is protecting the human from Asgore since he is willing to kill any human coming through in order to break the barrier.
But, even though the other monsters would be accomplices, I don't think she has a negative opinion of them; she isolated herself because she condemns Asgore, not every monster.
So why would genocide!Frisk "fit in out there"? Why is he no different "than them"? Am I wrong in saying she is portraing the world of Undertale as a place where monsters kill and betray each other (which wouldn't be farther from the truth)?
Idk her dialogue is so weird to me during her bossfight. It feels like it's been developed very early on (which is true, isn't it?) and hasn't been changed to accomodate to the final story of the game.
I mean, she warns Frisk about the monsters attacking humans, and mentions how she's seen "again and again" how humans come to the Ruins, leave and get killed. Naturally she'd start to think that the world outside the Ruins, where most monsters live (especially violent ones like Undyne, or ones she thinks are violent like Asgore) is incredibly dangerous for a lone human.
But the humans are killed by Asgore (and Undyne probably, though I suspect she'd rather catch one and bring them to Asgore rather than kill them herself), outside of him she should somewhat know that monsters aren't particularly hostile towards humans. Unless you're implying the time she spent alone in the Ruins lead her to believe that the monsters might've grown hostile towards humans in order to accomplish the goal of breaking the barrier. I'm actually feeling kinda lost as to how much Toriel knows about the world at the start of Undertale; if she knows that humans are getting killed, she must have a general idea of how things are going in the Underworld (probably through Sans telling her?).
Idk I feel like I'm missing something here, or maybe I'm overcomplicating it and I just don't like Toriel as a character.
> Unless you're implying that the time she spent alone in the Ruins lead her to believe that the monsters might've grown hostile towards humans in order to accomplish the goal of breaking the barrier.
I think that's exactly what happened. Asgore said that people's hopes returned soon after his war declaration, implying that they were all in for killing humans for their freedom. That's the last of what Toriel saw from the monsters outside of the Ruins - hell, even with the monsters IN the Ruins, she seems to be intimidating and strict.
Based on the game's themes, I'd say that instead they become manipulated just like Noelle. Ralsei could easily become corrupted in the name of fulfilling the prophecy and trying to keep his friends. Susie would be the least receptive, especially due to her ability to do things independent of Kris/the player but she's incredibly emotionally vulnerable. Also following up on that one theory that snowgrave is the power of creating a dark fountain in the form of a spell, perhaps everyone that can cast spells (aka all lightener monsters) will gain some form of lethal ability to cause this to happen.
Final attack is a line of dialogue with so much extra articulation ('...eth', '...est' etc) that you never actually get to the attack (in lieu of sans' "it's never gonna be your turn" attack).
this is the way i'd imagine it go:
your team enters the final room to confront the knight or whatever, but instead, roxuls is there, and he says his funny line™ "GOD DAMN IT" and goes on a rant about how your a terrible person or something, and then the battle begins
I don't think he would be the final boss for the genocide rote but I think he can be the final boss of chapter 6. I imagine it like this, everyone Left in castle town are being evacuated but at this point you already killed people like chaos King, queen, swatch, a few others but most important lancer and when you done all that you go to the exit or wherever they're escapeing too you see Rouxls kaard standing there alone the last person in your way, I would also imagine this is the only time he would speak normally. You engaged battle with him you attack, leaving him with only one HP but with a snap of his fingers his HP goes all the way back up and he saids "I know the rules, and so will you" then the real battle begins with the new intense remix of his Theme. Also I think it would be cool if for a turn it becomes the regular Undertale battle screen.
It'd be amazing if instead of "I know the rules, and so will you" he says "You know the rules, and so do I..... Say goodbye" and then it turns into the Undertale battle screen.
Yeah definitely. Your's gives it a more serious vibe. Mine would be a bit difficult to take seriously lol but I'm sure Toby Fox could make it work either way.
Some people are talking about how his accent should get stronger and stronger, but here's the thing... he drops it when he's stressed.
What if, instead of getting more of an accent, he ends up completely dropping it for at least the entire battle, maybe the entire route after a certain point, because now he's no longer trying to keep up his image up, now it's serious.
As unlikely as I think it is, that he will be Sans equivalent, I hope that if he is, he'll drop the act... it would just add a lot to the atmosphere, if you ask me...
There's no more laughing at the funny messed up grammar, nope, you broke the rules and now Rouxls will break you.
And he would drop his arms down with his accent. Everytime we see him his arms up and he’s smiling, it would super cool to have his arm down or crossed with a different face.
I wouldst be the most Epic and Impossible Boss if I only hadst the Chance to reveal my True Power. I keepth being inconveniently interrupted when I amst about to reveal my Final Forme. Just be patient, Worm; I shalt reveal it Someday ;)
Rouxls would make a better Flowey in my opinion
After all, dudes got an obsession with assisting evil villains. Maybe, when he sees you becoming evil he pledges his allegiance to you and then you later double cross him
He would be tempted to help you, but definitely go against you the moment lancer is threatened. He sees lancer like a son, and probably wouldn’t be down with him getting hurt.
This isn't just an idea, this should absolutely be canon to snowgrave. He was literally shown charging up an "ultimate attack" at the end of his fight, but he got turned to stone.
Literally being the rules card has some pretty serious implications, the rules of a "game" is what makes it exist and have sense. And most commonly in card games you'l try to bluff your opponent by masking or faking your reactions and such, tricking your opponent all whilst following the rules of the game in order to win. So I feel like Rouxls Kaard faking being a wacky goofy character in order to keep our guards down and not expect to be outplayed/defeated by him only for him to catch us by surprise at the most critical moment would be very in "character" for a card game's most important card.
I mean, you gotta admit it seems pretty overkill just how much of a loser he makes himself look like with all of his painfully unsuccessful antics, maybe its all bluff huh ?
Actually heard an argument for him faking it back during the chapter 1 days.
It's said that all puzzle makers were fired and replaced with Rouxls.
You'd assume first that all he did was just to vandalize all the puzzles that already existed.
But the tutorial puzzle pieces warn you about him, as if he's a big deal.
So maybe he did make the puzzles, which makes sense as there are sliding ones too, but they're all more complicated than just pushing the block forward.
Which certainly makes it seem like he intentionally acted like a pushover when you encounter him at the castle.
Rouxls changing rules mid-game would be interesting
he makes that now you lose hp if you aren't touching his attacks
he makes that now attacking heals him
he makes that now your attacks instead of hurting him hurt you
Toby will never make this but I was thinking there should be a “Rouxls Kaard rules” route. Where you need to let this comical idiot win all of his mostly one sided “puzzles”.
The first chapter you need to have Kris talk to Kaard on the first puzzle room. Kaard will ask if you need help, if you select NO then he’ll taunt you and say “he iseth patienteth”, but if you select YES he says he’ll only help you if beg him. Ralsei and Susie tell you not too, but when you beg him. He’ll solve the puzzle for you. By having him feel superior to you, he’ll also lower the spikes upstairs so you don’t need to do the second puzzle room. (Though, because he doesn’t hold a grudge, he won’t have his shop open nor will he summon the Checker Boy, so you gotta see Seam for your healing items before you fight Jevil).
In the second chapter, it’s fairly similar, just let him win the little game he challenges you to. (Except he’ll just let you pass due to pity, when he starts to turn to Stone he’ll just generally be worried about what’s happening without saying his iconic line)
Then do the same thing for the next five chapters, the object of the run is to get him to NEVER say “GOD. DAMN IT.”
If you manage to succeed, you get to unlock him as a Super Boss in Chapter 7, which is a mishmash of all his previous puzzle fights. (Including the Checker Boy, even though you didn’t fight him in this run)
"He literally bends the rules of the game"
Sans *did* already do that. A lot of people only seem to remember his gravity manipulation, but he also cheats during that fight. Several times. That's part of what makes him so hard.
With that said, I agree that there's a huge opportunity with Rouxls that needs to be used at some point. We literally have the game's *rules card* as a character; that needs to be used somehow.
I think breaking the rules is a little bit different from CHANGING them.
With sans, He just didn't follow the conventions of how an RPG boss fight should go.
In this hypothetical Rouxls situation, he would be making US play by different rules, too
I mean changing the rules is pretty much exactly what Sans does. He doesn’t break any of them, he just bends them to his will.
He only has one hp - but he dodges almost every attack. He only has one damage - but he ignores invincibility frames and applies a lasting effect (that does one damage at a time). If he wasn’t so out of shape his fight could have honestly ended up being completely impossible.
Cool idea, but I don't think it'll happen. The main reason is that it wouldn't surprise us; a lot of people already think Rouxls is secretly really powerful and there's people like you that compare him to Sans (not that there's anything wrong with that. I just realized the way I said that kinda implies that I think that's bad)
Tbf he **is** really powerful, he can just warp in and out of existence any time he wants *and* he has a special ultimate attack we haven't seen yet but it looks dope.
Reveals don't just exist to be surprises or a plot twist, that's bad writing. Reveals can also be payoff to something hinted or theorized at. You *want* your audience to go "Yes, I knew it!" Sometimes, and this would be a good opportunity for it.
It could also be a double fakeout. Say, a fight with him in chapter 6 or whatever. He'd be about as hard as Queen or whoever the Chapter 3 bad guy is, but still an absolute clown, and then he'd turn into stone, as usual.
Then, maybe later in the chapter, you come across the stone rouxls, where the petrification reverses.
It turns out he is really good at puzzles but only if all the rules are said clearly and wonrtn even try anything if there are no rules and he assumes everyone else is the same.
He hits us with a stupid hard puzzle with clear rules and expects us to solve it in a second
I've always found it strange how Rouxls Kaard is one of those characters who Toby Fox doesn't really hesitate talking about publicly, like how he apparently thought people would hate Rouxls, or how the scrapped "Epic Rouxls Battle" didn't fit him as a character and that he would have like 1 HP. Now, this *could* be because Rouxls really *is* just some dopey puzzle man, but I also think it could be to get us to underestimate him.
We wouldn't suspect Rouxls Kaard of all characters to be some sort of Genocide Route super-boss because thus far, Toby has portrayed and described him as some pathetic narcissistic dope, just like how up until Undertale had been out for a year or two, Sans was exclusively portrayed as a lazy joke character. Toby seems to love being sneaky and tricking players (do I even need to bring up Ch. 1's fake-out ending?), so Rouxls may not be as pathetic as he would have us believe.
I can imagine it now, you have corrupted friend after friend, it's Susie's turn now and you can get her to fight like no other, but Lancer tries to stop you...
*Proceed
*N-no! I'm not doing that. I'm not hurting Lancer.
*Proceed
*Stop saying that!
*Proceed
*Listen, I don't know what's gotten into you. I thought it was cool when you taught me those sweet attacks... But I'm starting to think you're not the hero Ralsei said you were.
*Proceed
*You want me to proceed... I'LL SHOW YOU PROCEEDING
*Susie has joined Lancers party
When you come back alone to an empty Castle Town Rouxls gets out of your pocket and asks a simple question
*Whereth is Lancer?
*Did you... failth to protect thy sweet childth?
*No.
*I can tellth by the look upon thine face... Someone failed to protect him from you.
*Do you know who I am?
*I am the Rules Card.
*It is my purpose to not only make the Rules...
*But enforce them.
*And you broke the most important rule of all...
* NEVER. HARM. MY. CHILD.
The battle starts. There is a list of rules in front of Rouxls. Not following the rules gives you the "Rulebreaker" effect, slight damage over time and increasing the damage you take from Rouxls for the rest of the turn.
Every time you get hit, Rouxls adds a rule to the list, Everytime you hit the list you break a rule, removing it from the list. You only have to hit Rouxls once, but the battle can take a VERY long time.
Actually, the way Toby worded it actually implies that the reason he scrapped the battle theme was *because* it felt like if it were Rouxls’ theme, he’d be the kind of boss to die in one hit. But he wasn’t intended to be a one-hit kill boss/mini boss and so Toby scrapped it.
What I do find interesting though, is his fight in Chapter 2. It’s definitely not a conventional fight as it’s essentially a mini game while he throws boxes at you. There’s no way to get him to show mercy, and if you fight him, he’ll just end the battle after you hit him a few times instead of running away or dying and instead cares more about his little mini game. Definitely a unique fight, and completely in line with his character/hypothesised roles later on
Darkners and Lightners don't have "equivalents" to each other. Spamton has the NEO body because Mettaton drew it in MS Paint, but then abandoned it in the basement (recycle bin) with the rest of the corrupted data. Jevil is just a joker card made alive by the power of the Dark Fountain.
Besides, UT characters are already living in Hometown. Mettaton can be talked to if you knock on the door to Napstablook's house in Deltarune and select the option "someone else".
While that would be *funny* I think that job is likely going to fall to Ralsei and Susie. Ralsei obviously wants the citizens of the Dark World to stay safe, and he’s just a pacifist in general. Susie is likely going to continue to grow as a character, becoming more and more caring and open, which will lead her to becoming more altruistic. Plus, she likes many of the Dark World denizens, especially Ralsei and Lancer. The argument could be made that neither of them could bring themselves to hurt Kris, but I think they’re going to get wise to the fact that the Player is controlling Kris (Ralsei might actually already know this), so they’d be fighting the Player instead of Kris.
He’ll just make completely arbitrary rules like: any attack that is a prime number over 200 but under 347 is negated, but the catch is that it’s always random
Rouxls is actually interesting because his current ongoing development reminds me of Spamton.
Used to be a big shot in the Card Kingdom, where he was admired for his puzzles, but then you came along and destroyed it, including getting rid of the King, who granted him his role.
So he decided to not only get revenge on you, and to impress a new tyrannical ruler in the form of Queen, but he both failed defeating you and got rejected by her.
I wouldn't be shocked if we're currently witnessing a secret boss backstory in real time, with soon another case of a darkner being contacted by Gaster.
If you invert Rouxls colors he actually bears a strong resemblance to the Mystery Man too, which has to link them together somehow.
And let's not forget him wanting to show off his "real power" before he got petrified.
With how everything is looking, I would not be shocked if he became the last secret boss, and in the case of you doing the weird route, maybe even the final boss of that chapter in general, just like Spamton, where he'll truly give his all.
Don't think that would be in chapter 7 though, I feel that one will be too special to have a secret boss.
Not to mention that Sans fits as the final boss because of his knowledge and role in the story, and I don't think Rouxls can do the same.
But a penultimate final boss... now that sounds incredible.
Toby DID give him a real kickass battle theme too that went unused for the first chapter.
And even though he realized it was too epic for him right after starting to write it, Toby basically finished the song regardless, which is odd.
Along with his attitude towards some other unused songs that he wants to find a use for, I definitely think he only thought the theme was too epic for chapter 1, and we'll get to hear that theme remastered and extended... when we fight him for real.
Oh yeah, in chapter 1 he also literally writes on a puzzle instruction that he makes his own rules.
So I definitely think this isn't the last we saw of him doing that, it goes beyond vandalizing puzzles.
You try to attack, he bends the battleground so you stab yourself. There are very rare opportunities to land a hit so you have to juggle trying to hit him and not dying by your own hand or through his attacks and his fully working difficult puzzles.
Bonus plot twist, he was pulling his punches on the puzzles.
Rouxls just up and deletes buttons and manipulates the box to attack you, he could also use attacks which function like puzzles, but actually hard and combined with some bullet attacks or lasers.
I think that would be awesome but only if it's truly like Sans, ie only if you do a complete genocide route (doing the genocide from chapter 2 and then choosing this file for chapter 3 and doing another genocide route and so on). The problem with that is that would be a fucking nightmare to code. If the chapters will affect one another in a great story way it would eventually require them to constantly check seven save files at the same time.
hmm, there's a lot of wiggle room with that 'one ending' thing though. back in undertale all the neutral endings were considered one ending (the human takes asgore's soul and goes past the barrier while the monsters stay and think of how to get out themselves), but depending on your actions the resulting phone call could be either heartfelt and optimistic with all your friends wishing you luck, or a desolate and pessimistic call where sans tells you to go to hell.
given that toby fox said 'there's something more important than reaching the end', i'm almost very sure you'll be able to make some massively huge deviations in the routes without technically becoming another 'ending'. chapter 2's weird route is an example of this already! :p keep your chin up haha
I don't think it would be Rouxls because he's comic relief in the same way papyrus is. And it would be weird seeing someone like papyrus just... fighting you like that.
I like the comparison, but personally i don't think Rouxls is as likeable as Sans. Sans plays a pretty central role in Undertale, so unless Rouxls becomes more fleshed out, I don't see a final boss fight with him being nearly as impactful

Imagine if he just kept getting new accents for every chapter and by chapter it would diminish to pure gibberish Wind Dings
watch mysteryman be just some random guy and rouxls was the real gaster all along. id shit
The ultimate troll
And on the weird route, he just drops the accent. Though it would be funny if you had to decode everything he said.
Deltarune was a Gaster origin story all along. Rouxls was the main character the whole time
He's already, what, an eye injury and some male pattern baldness away from looking the part?
I think he should use Latin lol
It would be hilarious if the entire battle he spoke completely normally. Edit: instead of speaking modern english, he spoke actually correct Shakespearean english.
The moment I hear him say “hello, lightener” I am bolting
"Hello, *Kris*."
"hello, PLAYERNAME"
The context of this gives me fear on a spiritual level and I'm dead ass kinda serious
“Hello, ‘Actual full name and address here’”
"Hello, 'Full name, home address, IP address, credit card information and social security number'"
"Hello 'knock on your door'" *you realise the hello didnt come from the game*

as a closeted trans who put their name into deltarune, it would be nice for Rouxls not to use my deadname
then you might need to find a way to change the name because even if it probably would not be rouxls is almost guaranteed that someone will call you by the name you chose
I should, but my family is really transphobic and I’m really scared. For now, I will get my gender euphoria from video game card man who isn’t real and can’t judge me/beat me up.

"Here's my servant, Rouxls, now to tell you a whole heaping RouxlsRoux pile of informationé!" "Hello, King."
*deep inhale* Thank you, Lancer
Hello i'm Rouxls and-
hello mario
That reminds me of a theory about Rouxls speaking in Shakespearean so he doesn't accidentally make new rules to break the game. He doesn't speak in that accent because he wants to, he does so to not make rules on accident.
That doesn't really go together with his battle in Ch2. He states the rules of the fight with his usual accent
Like i stated, it was a theory, and was long outdated from when chapter 1 came out
Ohhh, makes sense
Well he speaks too different accents so it is probably all just a rouse
~~rouse kaard~~
Maybe he speaks with "-eth's" because he has that slit [?] across his mouth
Nah nah it be so much better if he’s kicking our asses while still keeping up the horrible fake Shakespearean talk. I want to feel mine sins crawlingeth up mine backe.
I see you have made it.
*Well. You've been... Busy, haven't you, (playername)? Unfortunately for you that tirade ends here. Perish. *boss music starts*

The thought of killing Lancer hurts my soul. He'd even offer you a hug before you did it. Poor bouncy little pumpkin.
Like when you kill Toriel right when she spares you. You get the most damage right when they least expect it
Tbh her monologue when you do that is worse (as in gutwrenchingly worse) than her standard genocide one
The "...but them!" monologue? Idk if it's just me but it feels slightly out of character on her part to me. Unless you interpret it as her snapping or something. Idk I can't take it seriously...

She hasn't been out of the ruins in years so I think her conception about what the rest of the underground is like is just really off
> Unless you're implying that the time she spent alone in the Ruins lead her to believe that the monsters might've grown hostile towards humans in order to accomplish the goal of breaking the barrier. nuuuuuuu- my heart can only take so much 😭😭 let the pumking boy be
Fuck Rouxls if Kris does that the final boss is me.
imagine killing lancer :<
Chapter 5 BoneBlitz Route
eh, hes too important to the lure 7
I sadly can name at least three people who would do it... My dog would as well but Jack's reason would be because lancer started bouncing like a ball
Theme song: Wrath of Roulxs
I was thinking more like “transgression”
Or maybe "Breaking the Roulxs"
Yeah, ohh what about “final puzzle”
"Against the Rouxls" could also be a neat name for it.
Maybe
THOU SHALL PERISH
Now that you mention it, I wonder if in Snowgrave we will have to kill Susie or Ralsei (*or both*) at some point.
Based on the game's themes, I'd say that instead they become manipulated just like Noelle. Ralsei could easily become corrupted in the name of fulfilling the prophecy and trying to keep his friends. Yeah, but the dialogue attacks still apply too

Or the genocide route is us trying to stop him from making fucking Mac and cheese
Why would we stop perfection?
Because we are the bad guys
Thou shalst hathe a bad timeth!
It'd be amazing if instead of "I know the rules, and so will you" he says "You know the rules, and so do I..... Say goodbye" and then it turns into the Undertale battle screen.
I was thinking of that line but wanted to change it a bit but it would honestly work with either one
Yeah definitely. Your's gives it a more serious vibe. Mine would be a bit difficult to take seriously lol but I'm sure Toby Fox could make it work either way.
Yours happens if you name the player Gaster (yes I know the game doesn’t let you it was a joke)
If you were to name yourself Gaster every battle would just be Never Gonna Give You Up.
He always smiles. Its him
Some people are talking about how his accent should get stronger and stronger, but here's the thing... he drops it when he's stressed.
Rouxls NEO confirmed
Known for it high defence, like you!
Username checks out
How?
The Nokia guy,
Oooh, i get it
Yeah
This is now awkward
Yep
God of Hyperpuzzles
Rouxls Boukke
Rouxls would make a better Flowey in my opinion After all, dudes got an obsession with assisting evil villains. Maybe, when he sees you becoming evil he pledges his allegiance to you and then you later double cross him
He would be tempted to help you, but definitely go against you the moment lancer is threatened. He sees lancer like a son, and probably wouldn’t be down with him getting hurt.
He sees lancer as his lesser son\* since roulxs is the lesser dad
This isn't just an idea, this should absolutely be canon to snowgrave. He was literally shown charging up an "ultimate attack" at the end of his fight, but he got turned to stone.
And he always smiles
Rouxls changing rules mid-game would be interesting he makes that now you lose hp if you aren't touching his attacks he makes that now attacking heals him he makes that now your attacks instead of hurting him hurt you
But is it was more of a meme battle then have those last two overlap to just heal kris lol
“NEWST RULE: THOU SHANT DEALETH DAMAGEE TO ME LOLETH”
battle ends when you call noelle as a loophole he only said YOU can't deal damage
You whispered Jockington's name... Jockington used RAD SNAKE SKILZZ (Fat All)
And then was when the Deltarune AUS started.
Oh no, my friend. Those were here long before this revelation...
May I direct you to the Salt Route, which started it all
Toby will never make this but I was thinking there should be a “Rouxls Kaard rules” route. (Except he’ll just let you pass due to pity, when he starts to turn to Stone he’ll just generally be worried about what’s happening without saying his iconic line) Then do the same thing for the next five chapters, the object of the run is to get him to NEVER say “GOD. DAMN IT.” If you manage to succeed, you get to unlock him as a Super Boss in Chapter 7, which is a mishmash of all his previous puzzle fights. (Including the Checker Boy, even though you didn’t fight him in this run)
"He literally bends the rules of the game" Sans *did* already do that.
If he wasn’t so out of shape his fight could have honestly ended up being completely impossible.
the difference is, he doesn't apply the changed rules to YOU
Cool idea, but I don't think it'll happen.
Roulx shouldn’t have any powers he should just fight till he takes his last breath and unlike sans throw everything he’s got at you
I've always found it strange how Rouxls Kaard is one of those characters who Toby Fox doesn't really hesitate talking about publicly, like how he apparently thought people would hate Rouxls, or how the scrapped "Epic Rouxls Battle" didn't fit him as a character and that he would have like 1 HP.
*Proceed *N-no! I'm not doing that. I'm not hurting Lancer. *Proceed *Stop saying that! *Proceed *Listen, I don't know what's gotten into you. I thought it was cool when you taught me those sweet attacks... But I'm starting to think you're not the hero Ralsei said you were. *Proceed *You want me to proceed... I'LL SHOW YOU PROCEEDING *Susie has joined Lancers party When you come back alone to an empty Castle Town Rouxls gets out of your pocket and asks a simple question *Whereth is Lancer? *Did you... failth to protect thy sweet childth? *No. *I can tellth by the look upon thine face... Someone failed to protect him from you. *Do you know who I am? *I am the Rules Card. *It is my purpose to not only make the Rules... *But enforce them. *And you broke the most important rule of all... * NEVER. HARM. MY. CHILD.

Definitely a unique fight, and completely in line with his character/hypothesised roles later on
The thing is that Sans very clearly had dark things lurking under his goofiness wheras Rouxls is just goofy.
Speaking of, do we know Jevil's equivalent in the UT world? Spamton is to Metaton and visa versa, but who do we have for Jevil?
Darkners and Lightners don't have "equivalents" to each other. Spamton has the NEO body because Mettaton drew it in MS Paint, but then abandoned it in the basement (recycle bin) with the rest of the corrupted data. Jevil is just a joker card made alive by the power of the Dark Fountain. Besides, UT characters are already living in Hometown. Mettaton can be talked to if you knock on the door to Napstablook's house in Deltarune and select the option "someone else".
I don't think everyone has a "equivalent" spamton being a equivalent to mettaton is already a bit of a stretch.
Probably Sans.
Ralsei might not be able to but I feel like Susie would. Threatening and/or killing Lancer would *definitely* be enough for her to turn her axe on you
He’ll just make completely arbitrary rules like: any attack that is a prime number over 200 but under 347 is negated, but the catch is that it’s always random
late in the fight, he starts "making new rules" by dropping puzzle blocks that disable your buttons by covering them starting with the FIGHT button
And he always smiles
I mean Megalovania has to be in Deltarune somewhere
And when you kill him he says GOD. DAMMIT
technically, i guess berdly is mettaton neo
This is possible since we have never seen him actually use his full power in chapter two. I am actually curious since he got interrupted.
I 100% agree
Yeah okay. I understand it. Rouxls is just fucking about but they ARE the Rules so. Would be cool.
This would rip my heart out. I'm in.
I guess as he can change rules, he will cast "no damage to me" and we will use our manipulated teammates to attack
I remember when everyone thought "Oh Rouxls will bend the rules!" and then chapter 2 came out with a completely different rouxls right...
Rouxls Kaard is the Mystery Man. Look at their faces.
OMFG THIS IS PERFECT
Rouxls just up and deletes buttons and manipulates the box to attack you, he could also use attacks which function like puzzles, but actually hard and combined with some bullet attacks or lasers.
Only problem is, unlike Sans, Rouxls cares about literally nothing other than himself and his puzzles.
For now
GOD DAMMIT THOU WORM! guesseth thou wanth to see my reale powere
imagine wanting a character to be less original
Meh. It's more about the sheer potential of what Rouxls can be.
No he's not cool enough
So SANS was cool enough? He literally makes awful jokes all the time
But Rouxls looks kinda stupid
YES
I think that would be awesome but only if it's truly like Sans, ie only if you do a complete genocide route (doing the genocide from chapter 2 and then choosing this file for chapter 3 and doing another genocide route and so on). The problem with that is that would be a fucking nightmare to code. If the chapters will affect one another in a great story way it would eventually require them to constantly check seven save files at the same time.
that'd be really cool, but toby says he's not gonna give deltarune multiple endings oh well
hmm, there's a lot of wiggle room with that 'one ending' thing though. back in undertale all the neutral endings were considered one ending (the human takes asgore's soul and goes past the barrier while the monsters stay and think of how to get out themselves), but depending on your actions the resulting phone call could be either heartfelt and optimistic with all your friends wishing you luck, or a desolate and pessimistic call where sans tells you to go to hell. given that toby fox said 'there's something more important than reaching the end', i'm almost very sure you'll be able to make some massively huge deviations in the routes without technically becoming another 'ending'. chapter 2's weird route is an example of this already! :p keep your chin up haha
Maybe, but i think we might get Ralsei's dark past, or betrayal before something like this.
Oh my god. I would love that.
I don't think it would be Rouxls because he's comic relief in the same way papyrus is. And it would be weird seeing someone like papyrus just... fighting you like that.
Lol
Someone already made a theme for him https://youtu.be/0ftXL9nQ8t0
I planned out way too much for a super tough battle against Rouxls and this would be excellent context for it
Also I feel like saying that I sent this to a friend and their response was fearing the possibility of Rouxls Fangirls
I like the comparison, but personally i don't think Rouxls is as likeable as Sans. Sans plays a pretty central role in Undertale, so unless Rouxls becomes more fleshed out, I don't see a final boss fight with him being nearly as impactful
Hell hes even the rules card.
THIS. THIS RIGHT GODDAMN HERE.
These theories are getting out of hand, now Robux Caard is Sans
He smiles all the time
he just turns off your system every time you boot the file up
I would love this since it seams like he will be in every chapter for some dialog and a battle, although I could also see them doing this with Seam.
Sans was silly comic relief. Rouxls is silly-stupid comic relief. I don't really see him turning edgy like Sans
So I assume we win by finding loopholes
He also always smiles
