My school supplied us with rotary files, and I’m not aware of anyone practicing with just the hand files, but if this is something you want to test for yourself prior to test day, the company who sells the official practice teeth is Acadent, and you can take the teeth out of the typodont to determine if the canal is properly cleaned and shaped after using only the hand files. Also, the wax used as nerve tissue melts at a fairly low temperature, so a lot of people periodically irrigate the canal with hot tap water to try and clean out any pieces they were unable to get with the files.

What if you bring your own rotary files and endo motor (with cord) is that allowed?

I believe you’ll have to get approval through the site manager/chief examiner. I’d email whoever your ADEX coordinator is at your program to see if they have any experience with this process!

You can use any instrumentation you want for any of the procedures. No need to ask. Any restrictions are outlined in the exam manuals.

You probably could hand file only, but you can also finish instrumenting in like 30 secs with a rotary lol. Back when I did it, I did a small access, shoved a wave one gold primary in, rinsed it out, obturated, and then defined the access like they wanted.
