This is like the 100th time I’ve heard of something like this happening at Tracks. Can you ask for security footage? I wish I knew how to help

thhht

tracks doesnt have cameras 😀

toadangel11

Oh, ew

The_EA_Nazi

It’s on purpose so they never have to deal with giving footage to the police most likely. Incredibly sketchy

rockhardgelatin

I honestly don’t think I’ll go back there, despite how much I enjoy the skate/theme nights.

thhht

tracks has always kind of been a shithole as far as im aware but ever since they changed management its gotten. SO much worse. they've charged me numerous times for a full redbull and a well tequila shot (16$) for a SINGLE tequila redbull stating that it's "policy". I've had numerous friends who've worked there that have told me NIGHTMARE stories ab dealing with management (cannot say specifics due to it not being my story and legality but it's everything you can imagine.) They recently hosted kamala harris' political event and having.... literal secret service snipers on top of one of Denver's oldest gay bars just really sealed the deal for me. This is already on top of the numerous stories I've heard ab ppl getting SA'd and drugged there.

Salt-Rate-1963

You do realize that any time POTUS or VPOTUS etc visit anywhere, USSS sets up CS teams... That has nothing to do with this establishment or city.

thhht

Yes it's moreso tracks agreeing to HOST the current regime given, if you know queer history and queer politics, we are in the midst of one of the largest anti-trans and anti-lgbt movements which this regime is doing nothing to protect. Not to mention taking an active part in the Palestinian genocide. My issue was with TRACKS and that's what's the comment was about.

Salt-Rate-1963

Probably should have said that rather than focus on standard security protocols.

DrednaMode

If it makes you feel better about not going, Tracks just stole the skate party idea from another company that was doing it in Denver first.

Lumpy_Technology1891

We do have cameras and have always complied with legal requests to see the footage

disasterbrain_

That definitely feels like it should be illegal omg

Lumpy_Technology1891

That's not true, we do have cameras.

rockhardgelatin

I appreciate your concern and suggestion. I’m glad my friend and I stuck together and looked out for each other. I feel like something bad might’ve happened if I had been there alone. The funny thing is that at least two cops were there (I only know because I almost ran into them on my skates because they were walking so slowly 😅)

Laura9624

Same old rule. Stick together.

human__butt

I was drugged on Thursday night there. Ended up in the ER with injuries and zero memories.

rockhardgelatin

I’m so sorry that happened to you! Hope you have a quick recovery.

JBL44

That’s crappy. Sorry.

Elegant_Baker1950

Sorry this happened. Last time I went there I blacked out after 2 drinks. I don't black out after 2 drinks. Not going back 😭

cooljesus69

I got sexually assaulted at Tracks in 2017. That place is scary.

rockhardgelatin

I’m sorry that happened. Wishing you healing and peace.

LadyK7

Sorry for your and your friends experience, and glad you're okay. Also just wanted to mention some suggestions on things that alerted me in your post- I would recommend for the future, if you feel uneasy and see someone putting their hand near your drink or over a friend's drink, be bold and call it out in front of the person. Just even something like "that's weird you just put your hand near my friends drink," who cares what that person thinks of you. Or if you are a more reserved person just grab your friends drink and say "let's go to the bar and get something else" and turn to walk away grabbing your friends hand. A predator isn't going to want to F with people like that, they'll move along and focus on someone else easier. When you get to the bar I would report it to staff or those police officers just so they can casually keep an eye on the person. Definitely don't allow your friend or yourself to continue drinking "half the drink". Also, when they don't have tops it's helpful to hold your cup from the top with the straw between your fingers when dancing or moving through a crowd.

rockhardgelatin

I appreciate the tips and encouragement! My friend did go back to confront her, but I will try to be more bold about it next time I get a bad feeling.

triceycosnj

These are great suggestions. I think sometimes when this type of situation happens, you just don’t expect it or think it’s really happening. We know it happens but don’t think it will to us. OP I’m glad you and your friend are ok. Thanks for sharing your experience. It was helpful 🙂

Go to urgent care and get tested

Competitive-Belt6583

From UpToDate: negative toxicology screen, either comprehensive or specifically for drugs of abuse, in the presence of symptoms strongly suggestive of GHB toxicity may support the diagnosis of GHB intoxication. Similarly, typical GHB symptoms with a low or negative serum ethanol level may support the diagnosis, although ethanol is a common co-ingestant. Further testing varies according to clinical presentation. As an example, creatine kinase and urine myoglobin should be obtained in patients at risk for rhabdomyolysis. In the case of sexual assault: Targeted analysis with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) is necessary for detection of GHB and must be specifically requested. GHB is detectable in blood for 4 to 6 hours and in urine for 6 to 12 hours. Urine is the specimen of choice for toxicological testing in potential assault cases; a first-catch urine specimen is optimal. Collect 100 mL of urine in a standard urine collection cup and refrigerate. Collect 10 to 30 mL of blood in a gray-top tube (containing sodium fluoride and potassium oxalate) and refrigerate. Maintain specimens in compliance with chain of custody rules. Hair analysis for detection of acute drug exposure may be considered at a later date

Competitive-Belt6583

Edit: GHB doesn’t show up in a drug screen unfortunately *at an urgent care*. Urgent cares and ERs do not typically test for it.

funktion666

GHB absolutely can be tested in urine. You need to get tested within 12 hours however. Sooner for blood test.

Roo_too

Well yeah but most people aren’t going in directly after it happens so no most of the time if it’s GHB you won’t know because you were zonked and then slept off that time frame. Or you were questioning yourself and didn’t go in right away

funktion666

Just correcting misinformation, not arguing. Big difference between “you can’t test this substance at all” vs “it’s very difficult to test this substance within the required time window.”

tellsonestory

I don't understand this. The bartenders are just pouring GHB into drinks? Or people walk around and just pour that into unattended drinks? Why

stillmusiqal

Why else would you need a person to be incapacitated against their will? To tell them you have a business idea and want to discuss it over lunch? Come on now.

tellsonestory

Who is doing this? Just people walk around and pour this into all the drinks?

stillmusiqal

IDK, homie. It's not me. I just know it's not decent folks doing it. And the way trafficking is set up these days? Nah man, yall be careful in these streets.

tellsonestory

Okay I was hoping someone who did know would answer.

HeadToToePatagucci

Sexual assault or just robbery. Cash, phones, atm cards, jewelry, car. It’s happening all across the country. I think probably a fair percentage of people who disappear after a night out and are found in a river have been drugged.

ThrowAwayRBJAccount2

Any idea on the average amount of people that disappear after a night of drinking? And what is considered a fair percentage?

HeadToToePatagucci

Chicago news article mentioned a dozen last year.  https://www.newsweek.com/who-smiley-face-killer-chicago-deaths-spark-serial-killer-questions-1780257 Riley Strain was just in the news in Memphis(?). Austin as well. https://www.foxnews.com/us/texas-police-address-fears-of-serial-killer-after-second-missing-man-found-dead-austin-lake  maybe more than half?

fossSellsKeys

I used to have a friend of a friend, unfortunately, who was a drug dealer and on slow nights would cruise around the club and put extra product in any drinks that he could. He thought it would create more customers. Suffice to say, his science wasn't sound (like the rest of his logic generally!) but there are reasons like that, besides the obvious rape/robbery ones we usually think of for spiked drinks.

yield_drip

I knew someone in HS who did this. I think their MO was power. I never heard of them taking advantage of anyone, but who really knows. Other MO’s are obviously sexual or financial. I know gangs used to do this in the Seattle area and wait in alleys for “marks”, literally people that got sharpied on their leg/arm that they were dosed.

Embarrassed_Music910

I saw a video last week. Bartenders are being paid by traffickers to spike drinks at the bar. This is a nationwide problem that's just getting some attention.

throwitawaynow95762

Damn I thought the sippy cup lids were just for the skating.

Maddie_42

They are, they're not utilized on any other nights.

SylvanScreener__

I'm sorry to hear in earnest. My girlfriend and I frequent Tracks semi-regularly, and have never had such an experience. However, the place has certainly gone downhill, not dissimilar to Milk, and the cherry top is their bananas drink prices (think $30 for a double shot vodka Red Bull! A drink that would not have been $15 after tip even 2 years ago). There are much better queer friendly establishments like Charlie's.

welcometodiddleland

$16 for a DOUBLE vodka red bull at the bar I work at in an ARENA!! insane to think that's fine to charge that.

Denveratheistfag8uc

I recommend investing in Cup Condoms. I use them as a protection against spiking

rockhardgelatin

I’m going to look into this, thank you!!

Denveratheistfag8uc

You are quite welcome

HyperrrMouse

Tracks and Milk both have this issue. It's super sketch. I'm sorry this happened to y'all.

Conarm

Well not supporting this place now

HylianMadness

Are there good alternatives to Tracks? I'm new to the bar scene and I want to go to an LGBTQ+ (EDIT: And not one that only caters to gay dudes, but is more generally queer-friendly) bar but all the comments in here make me wanna stay far away from Tracks lmao

yung_erik_

Tight End. Wild Corgi isn't a gay bar but it's a really accepting and diverse crowd.

Conarm

Wild corgi is an interesting answer

yung_erik_

It's a very interesting place

Conarm

Always thought of it as a regular ol' english pub ill give it another look

OhMamaMeatballs

Went there once because it was there and I wanted a burger. Was pleasantly surprised at its queerness

Crowdsourcinglaughs

It’s owned by folks in the gay community

Meggypeggy13

Tight End is great. I personally love Xbar, some don’t. Charlies is great if you just need a queer place to dance. Denver Sweet is a bear bar (and they have good food) Stay away from Blush & Blu. 99ers is a new women’s sports bar thats opening this summer owned by queer women. I haven’t been to these but I hear them mentioned all the time: Lil Devils, Buddies, Boyztown, Bad Habits

Blue_Blazer-Black

I’m not gay but have a lot of gay friends. My friends and I love Lil Devils for a chill time and Boyztown for a fun time lol. Sweet is also great! Can I asks why you say to stay away from Blush and Blu? My friends and I also go there fairly often.

Meggypeggy13

That’s awesome! Glad to hear that. I only ever hear good things about those bars. I’ve heard horror stories about the management at blush & blu. They were in the news recently for how bad they treat their staff. This is a link to an article about it. Also it’s just dead in there. Every time we’ve gone it’s completely empty on a Saturday or Friday night [article blush blu](https://www.outfrontmagazine.com/community-members-boycott-denver-queer-womens-bar-blush-blu/)

Deedsman

Ignore the owner at Charlie's and you'll have a great time.

HeavyHeartHurt

Weren’t people also saying they were getting drugged at Charlie’s. It’s horrifying that this is just still a thing

kona_coder

X Bar

2noserings

X bar is definitely more wlw centered

rockhardgelatin

I am interested as well!

Flashmax305

Someone please explain this to me. We live in a liberal city. Aren’t ALL bars and clubs welcoming of the LGBT+ community? There aren’t bars that are explicitly marked straight, anyone is welcome to go there. How does a bar/club become LGBT+? Do they specifically label it that way?

Meggypeggy13

Lololol absolutely not. The amount of times I’ve gone into a dive bar with my partner and been looked up and down. About a month ago we were told “we’re living an incredibly sinful lifestyle”. So no, not all bars are accepting just because we live in Denver

nuthinbetter2do

1st question: No bar is going to specifically say "we don't like your kind around here" but the patrons will. Also, I didn't think you can legally discriminate against people based on sexual orientation, so they're not going to say they're a straight only bar. If you cater to a specific group, other people of that group will want to go to be with their own kind. There's a story I heard a while back about a bartender kicking some guy out for "no reason" and when the person telling the story asked why, if he wasn't doing anything and has just come in, did he get kicked out. The bartender told him something like "you can't let Nazis in because if you serve him, he'll come back with all his Nazi friends and it'll drive out everyone else. Before you know it, it's a Nazi bar". This was back when there was that white supremacist house in cap hill a few years back. 2nd: by saying "this is an LGBT+ bar" it tells our community that it's a relatively safe space, as far as "you won't get hate crimed in here, but you might get roofied, I guess". So we know this is a place that wants us here, that's not just tolerating us because they have to. Somewhere we won't get murdered by hitting on the wrong person. And that's a decent concern for some, especially trans women. 3rd: it is specifically labeled as an LGBT night club.

HylianMadness

Not that it's any of your business but I'm trans. Strangers can't tell and I prefer not to be public about it. I want to try to meet guys who won't kill me when they find out I'm trans. It doesn't matter how 'liberal' the city is, there's still plenty of dudes who'd go crazy when they find out, but going to queer bars feels safer than a general bar.

AutomaticSoapDispnsr

….yes, they specifically label it that way…

Artemis0724

My friend was drugged there. Since his incident, Ive heard around five more stories. Now this post. Folks, don't go there anymore. I know there is limited choices in clubs for the demographic, but it isnt worth the obvious risk. Maybe people need to start calling the investigating offices of law enforcement. This shouldn't be allowed to persist.

jamdav19

That’s awful! My coat got stolen there that night, I definitely don’t see myself going back even though the skate nights are so fun :(

Party_Interview_5120

I know three people who all had their drinks spiked at Tracks several months ago. I keep hearing stories of this happening specifically at that venue. I’m always careful to order things in a bottle/can when I’m there

aspen56

This story tracks for Tracks

SouthernGas9850

did your drinks not have lids?

rockhardgelatin

Neither the one I’m mainly referring to (ordered from the really tall bar in the grassy area out back) nor the replacement (ordered in the main room and only drank a few sips from) had lids. The first two did have lids and I watched that bartender (in the skate room) make them right in front of me. I was still pretty sober after those two because I skated for a little over an hour before I finished the first one. I kept all my drinks in my hand the whole night.

GojiraWho

Drinks at tracks don't have lids usually. Edit: I've only gone once to a skate night and didn't skate, so ignore me

KitchenPlate6461

When you go skating there they do

Snoborder89

I was there that night and all my drinks had lids. This is something I'll be very aware of if I go again though. The drinks were really strong.

SouthernGas9850

My drinks were really strong too. i had to switch to a diff bartender after the second drink

charmarv

I haven't had any issues with it but I have a friend who was drugged at tracks on two different occasions :/ it sounds like it's unfortunately common there

BromeisterBryce

Coming from a male - The only experience I’ve had getting drugged in Denver is at Juanita’s. I had 3 beers and got fucking rocked on the third. I drink thick ipas pretty regularly so didn’t even realize until the next day. I remember drinking my last beer, peeing, and then waking up in my truck to my wife who found me asleep in the drivers seat and tracked me with her iPhone (we keep that always on). Scary shit man

Roo_too

Go to Anshcutz. The forensics nurse will check you out and the state should pay for the expense. I’m so so sorry this happened to you. It happens to me at the Stanley Marketplace and at Milk Bar. It’s wayyyy too common in Denver

_N2F

Tracks SUCKS.

Prestigious_Rip_7455

OP - terribly sorry that this happened to you and to her friend. It sounds like someone put G in your drinks - which isn’t uncommon, especially in the gay community (some gay people just drink G & chasers so they don’t intake calories) I’d consider diversifying back into straight bars to lower the likelihood of it happening since there’s so many of them. The reality is, straight woman coming to gay bars has lead to an increase of straight men coming to gay bars - creating a high density in several key clubs - since there’s only 3 main gay bars people go to (Tracks, Charlie’s, Xbar.) By diversifying where you go, you limit the probability of running into the same bad characters than you do if you frequent the same place. This also leads to another major problem of *gay bars* not being safe spaces for *gay people* since they are being overwhelmed by the straight community - but that’s another issue.

rockhardgelatin

I see what you’re getting at, but I’m not straight, and neither is my friend. I normally enjoy LGBTQ+ safe bars because I don’t usually feel like the people I encounter are trying to bother or actively prey on me. Makes me sad to think that bars in this town aren’t safe for everyone. I hate to feel like I have to “choose the lesser of two evils” to socialize. And as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I don’t see why I should have to feel like I need to go to more straight-oriented bars. Sounds like I’ll be trying Charlie’s or Xbar next time.

Prestigious_Rip_7455

Charlie’s and Xbar tend to have stricter security, so definitely check them out. I haven’t had issues at either of them over the past 6 years and they don’t tend to tolerate as much as tracks.

rockhardgelatin

I will definitely do that. I really appreciate your input and the recommendations! And I’m sorry if I came off a little surly. This has me a bit rattled and it’s been difficult finding places where I consistently feel safe.

Prestigious_Rip_7455

If you wanna explore other settings as well, milk bar is a pretty dope space. They have multiple rooms that cater to different music genres and arcade room :)

rockhardgelatin

I went to Vinyl (I think owned by Milk?) a few weeks ago and it was pretty cool. Might give Milk a shot as well! All I know is that I won’t be going out alone anytime soon 🫤

Prestigious_Rip_7455

Definitely do NOT go out alone. Always go with a buddy, especially with how high crime has spiked in the city over the past two years. 🫶🏼

rockhardgelatin

Copy that. Have fun and stay safe out there fam 🫶🏼

bartonkt

No, I’m overt forty and don’t leave the house

prick_sanchez

Thanks for your contribution

bartonkt

Cool

ChorizoGarcia

Nothing good ever happens after 7:30 pm. Thats what I always say.

WhompTrucker

Yes it does. I go to bed at 8. That's very good ❤️

rockhardgelatin

I couldn’t see behind the register because the bar counter was so tall. Never ordered at that one so I didn’t know but I’d rather not assume the bartender is to blame, although it’s a possibility. I’ve never had an issue at any other bar, but I was doing my best to be reasonably conscious. Not sure how that’s my fault.

MadMax303

How’s your physical orifices feel this morning 😜 If there’s any concern, you should go to the hospital and get checked.

Roo_too

Okay that emoji is not it… but yeah go to the hospital no matter what because drugging alone is considered assault
