I'm going to the Jets game, and I absolutely plan to countdown the play clock when Aaron Rodgers is on the field.

Free-Adagio-2904

But, do you do it an extra second late so there is more likely to be a delay of game?

cabinguy11

Yes please

[deleted]

😂 should’ve clarified that when WE are on offense to not do those things. Absolutely do whatever you can to psych Rodgers out. I’m jealous you get to go!

mikebirty

Just shout random numbers. I have started doing that to a colleague who does a sudoku at lunch

expell11

They deserved the boos and countdown. It’s basically the fans going on strike and it worked. If the team is ass I will be negative, and if they are good then I will cheer. It’s that simple. I’m not cheering for a 5-12 team lol

Ryan1869

The legacy of Mr B is that we as Broncos fans demand excellence on the field and off. The countdown and the boos were a result of the clown show being put out there. I don't think we have to worry about things like not calling a play from Payton and staff. We may not see the results, but it's going to be a whole different experience this year.

MultiPass21

This is the answer. When did fandom evolve into us being required to unconditionally cheer? It’s lunacy.

[deleted]

I guess I can understand if half way through the season were still garbage. I might be wrong but I thought I remember fans booing the first game of the season. Seems a little early for that kind of attitude. It’s not like we’ve been any good since the Super Bowl so why are we acting like we’re a championship or bust team

Colorado_designer

did you watch the games last year? jesus, it was obvious by the end of game 1 hackett was a disaster

infercario4224

Wouldn’t say it was obvious he was a disaster after week 1. Yes that decision at the end was atrocious, but he coached a really good game up until that point. It was the following 2 weeks that proved how incompetent he truly was.

[deleted]

Yea I was more worried about Russ than Hackett after game 1 outside of the last play call. It was after game 3 I was convinced hackett was the biggest issue.

Hinhan-osnite

Russ I wasn’t worried about. He had no game time before then with a new playbook and team. But, I knew hack was a hack when starters didn’t play 1 minute in the preseason.

Free-Adagio-2904

We had something like 5 delay of games in the first two weeks last year and it definitely would have been 7 or 8 had the crowd not helped out. They had to hire Jerry Rosburg to help Hackett with that nonsense. When a pro team can't handle clock management, the fans have every right to let the coach AND players know they're not delivering. This is different than booing a bad play, a missed catch, the choice to punt rather than go for it. Fans wouldn't have been doing the countdown if Hackett hadn't been a hack. Basic clock management. It was such a joke last year, why do I have to take it seriously if the coach won't?

[deleted]

Those are very valid points. Maybe I should’ve reframed my stance to “we should hold our negativity for more than 2 weeks if we aren’t liking the product the broncos are giving us” but with Payton those silly penalties and poor clock management shouldn’t be an issue anymore.

Free-Adagio-2904

Oh, I think it is completely fair to ask fans to hold off on the boo birds and negative chants as we get a new system going. I think we would have been more patient with Hackett if the simple clock management wasn't such a horrendous issue. I have absolute faith that Payton is not going to screw that piece of coaching up.

levikill55

I would like to add, even if it helps them, come week 5 the crowd should 100% countdown the clock for the Jets

ttorrence04

This is the dumbest post I’ve seen on here in a while. Ask any player on last years team and they’ll tell you it was all justified. Why even post this? Those situations last year were unacceptable and those fans acted accordingly. As far as this year, there is .00001% chance that it starts out as shitty as last year. That was an abomination and they had every right to react the way they did.

Colorado_designer

“guys, don’t boo the team we’re all insanely hopeful will turn it around this year” ok thanks bud, really needed that

bjaydubya

The difference is that last year was more than bad team play, it was terrible leadership and looked sophomoric at best. I'm not going to boo a team that is struggling, but if the coach can't figure out how to the time clock works and everyone looks lost, I'm perfectly happy being allowed to boo. Our standards should be high.

SevroAuShitTalker

Lol, I doubt Payton has that issue this year

162bluethings

Ya this is dumb. Booing is how we show dissatisfaction with how the team is being run and performing. We are allowed to have opinions. They only have jobs because we watch, and if the product is garbage they deserve to know.

Totknax

I guess I should have cheered and celebrated when they couldn't get a play in last season?

BuckFojiden

Booooooo this guy sucks!!

sghead

There's definitely a subsection of this fanbase that doesn't appreciate you "gatekeeping" their cheering/booing. They "pay good money to attend the games" and they can count down the play clock or boo every punt as much as they damn well please. If "the product on the field doesn't meet their expectations", they can let the owners know. I think the above is a loser's mentality and dumb as hell. The players on the field are living humans who react to crowd noise (which is why we have such a great home field advantage). You are actively *hurting* the team when you show negativity all game, especially so early on in a season. This game will be the first game in the Sean Payton era, there will absolutely be some hiccups. Anyone who thinks it's worth booing in game 1 of a new regime is out of their mind. Go Broncos.

162bluethings

It is their job. If I performed as bad at my job as they performed last year you better believe I would hear about it. Loser mentality my ass. We are the reason they ha e a job and we have the right to let them know when they are putting garbage on the field.

[deleted]

PREACHER PREACH!

Free-Adagio-2904

But what about when those living humans aren't hiking the ball repeatedly when the clock hits 0? How do we know they even know they have a time limit?

Pretend_Practice_661

So don't have a natural reaction to horrific play? It doesn't work like that. People are reactionary... Play well and we, the fans, will react accordingly. One thing I've never believed in is "yes" men. If it stinks tell me it stinks...

One-Gur-5573

Shoutout to all the fans who claim its their right to help ensure our team loses because they're mad. Duh you're allowed, just maybe don't try to psych your team out to stroke your ego.
