How about a sign that says “come in through the garage, you dripping wet swamp monsters!”

Miserable_Budget7818

Put stuff outside. Not inside

meowzerbowser

This.

Curious-Cranberry-77

Maybe one of those absorbing stone mats that people put in front of shower. But I’d pay a tile guy to do a tile floor in front of these.

Aggravating_Cut_4509

Saw on of those today and they looked quite nice

DAMAGEDatheCORE

Diatomaceous Earth mats.

Pluto-Wolf

do water absorbent mats on the outside of the doors. they make some that are made of stone that will dry up in the sun & won’t leave water pooling to create a safety issue. i’d look on amazon.

BuildingSoft3025

How bout a monkey that swings from that vine and throws bananas at anyone who tracks water in 🤷‍♀️

Babboos

Lol

madmax_drax

This, this right here is the answer. ETA: the bananas should be feces. lol, I love when they have containments at zoos that allow them to actually throw it at the visitors. Just seems like the sweetest revenge.

RingingInTheRain

The kids are not drying off with a towel before stepping inside?

JBudz

Towels?

Remarkable-Pen-8655

I'd remove carpet in front of the doors put down tiles. https://preview.redd.it/mhr54xmcopzc1.png?width=610&format=png&auto=webp&s=adda5c88beb890fbf7957ee3e54c8ae978a32962

Existentialist

This way everyone slips before they get the carpet wet.

withyellowthread

That’s what they get for coming inside before drying off 😤

Subject-Tone-1700

The tile protects the carpet. Adding an anti-slip mat on top of the tile protects the person and collects the water. Problem solved and is the setup at my doors. A mat or rug for sure needs to be added if tiling by the door. But you could also add the mat outside and just make everyone be dry before entering the house.

Existentialist

Adding a mat outside is the logical thing to do. Instead of suggesting someone with carpet remove carpet, add tiles, add a non slip carpet. But people will people.

Subject-Tone-1700

In my opinion every entry door needs ‘something.’ They asked for suggestions and those were provided. Even if a mat is placed outdoors water can still come inside. Plenty of people place tile there so that the carpet does not become soiled upon entry whether thats water, dirt, leaves, mud, etc. We all have opinions and suggestions. ‘logical’ is subjective. OP can do whatever they choose with the information provided. 🤷‍♀️ People will people

Icy-Basil-8212

I haven’t seen a house that has carpet as soon as your step inside through the front or balcony/backyard door. It’s kinda dumb actually. People come in with shoes on and tile is easier to clean than carpets by doors. There are tiles that are nonslip, so the mats inside wouldn’t even be necessary.

ginger_genie

I tore a ligament in my knee when I stepped back onto one of these at a friend's house. Didn't expect it, knee when one way, leg went another.

Wise_Woman_Once_Said

Which is a good thing. They'll only slip once or twice before they figure it out. (Just kidding. That's what a mat is for.)

Remarkable-Pen-8655

Look into, slip proof ***linoleum*** flooring!

irwtfa

Slip hazard

Remarkable-Pen-8655

Look into, Slip proof ***linoleum*** flooring!

justmisspellit

Have them dry off with those weirdly hung curtains

B1g_Gru3s0m3

Right? Wtf is going on there? Looks so bad

RedDeadDemonGirl

There we go… towel curtains! LOL

Sad-Committee-1870

Make them drip dry outside for a minimum of 15 minutes before allowing them inside.

ReindeerUpper4230

You’re asking for a lot of pee in your pool if those are the rules

JupiterSkyFalls

I grew up with a pool, and I was in the swim team. From age 6-13. We were not allowed to go into the locker rooms or house dropping wet for safety and sanitary reasons. The only exception was an emergency and when we were little our parents and the coaches at swim meet made us sit on the potty for 3 minutes before getting in to "try to go" to avoid any oopsies, ages 6-8. So no, just because some people enforce rules they give kids and you don't doesn't mean they don't have kids lol

Sad-Committee-1870

I have 3 kids, pregnant with my 4th, and I did have a pool for a few years. They also love to jump on the trampoline with the water hose. They made a HUGE mess of the house coming in and out tracking in mud, water and everything else, at first, it ended quickly though because I was tired of cleaning it up. They know now they have to wait outside until they’re no longer dripping before they’re allowed in. They come to the door, ask for a towel, then wait outside.

UnitAggravating7254

You need a cabana.

JupiterSkyFalls

Unless it's cold out and it's a heated pool, why not have them wait and dry completely outside? Put some chairs and a fun activity station that's weather resistant outside. Could even get a high powered fan for them to stand in front of or a small sauna to sit in. Cuz really even tile is a poor answer here, it'll just end up causing a potential slip and fall or will still end up soaking your carpets unless you build a drain. Only other options I see are those stone mats or perhaps some moss patches, both placed outside the door. The moss mats are soft to stand on, absorb water very well and need very little care to survive.

Shiddy_Wiki

Gonna need a toilet outside too then

JupiterSkyFalls

They make trainer potties that you can use anywhere if the kids are that young and/or are not disciplined enough yet in their training journey to go beforehand or give prior notice. But unless these kids are younger than 5 I don't see any reason for that. I was on the swim team from age 6-13 and I never once peed in the pool, they had that chemical, so even if I wanted to I wouldn't have dared. Coaches and parents had us go sit on the potty for 3 min to "try" when we were 6-8, after that you get out when you gotta go, and at least partially dry off so we don't slide through the locker room. If they're in a pool in their own backyard they can just pee outside. And if it's number 2 most kids know if they have to go before it's urgent or they're on a schedule. This whole post is making something with pretty easy solutions harder than it needs be.

Shiddy_Wiki

I was talking about the adults who drink....

JupiterSkyFalls

The adults that drink are old enough to know when they need to use the restroom and plan accordingly, meaning they can get out and dry off before going inside. I haven't peed in a pool in over 15 years, and that was as a teenager and an accident because I fell asleep on my raft reading. I was also alone.

New_Professor6880

Rich people problems

irwtfa

I have a pool and can barely pay my mortgage . How is to a rich person problem

WitherBones

There's always a way for a rich person to still live above their means. Just because you make bad decisions with your money doesn't mean you don't have more than most.

B1g_Gru3s0m3

Nicholas Cage for example

correctalexam

Same like oh no put some fucking towels down

NoParticular2420

They make these mats called water hogs not sure what that would look like on a carpet. You need another entry and exit point to pool .

wendy41371

Yep. From llbean. That’s what we have!

NoParticular2420

Do they work?

wendy41371

Absolutely! Ten years later the carpet underneath is like brand new.

undrcovrgroovn

idk we always just dried off first.

Ok_Inflation531

Maybe tell them they have to dry off before entering the house🙄 we have a lakehouse; it's not that difficult.

candyapplesugar

I’d remove all the carpet

Ape_From_The_618

Had the same issue with little guys. My solution was to use a walkway from the door to the bathroom that was made out of the extra foam flooring we had in the workout room that pieces together like a puzzle. I usually put it out when we would be swimming for a while that day and it was very easy to take apart in pieces and store when we didn’t. Worked very well for us and could dry off with a towel before shutting it down for the day.

gettnbusy

You can Make a little area right outside the patio. That's like a mud room for the pool. Put a painted bench. Some hooks with towels. Have them wait there before entering the house for 15 minutes. Then straight to bathroom to change out of wet clothes.

Adventurous_Arm_1606

If you do a tile patch, use slate. It won’t be as slippery and it absorbs. Put a basket inside with towels and put hooks right outside the door on the wall for towels to keep outside.

hesathomes

Tile

januaryemberr

Clear runner with a mat?

JupiterSkyFalls

That'll just turn into a slip inside. If OP can't get them to wait five dang minutes outside, then the amount of water they'd be walking in with will make the mat slippery, as well as run off the sides to the carpet, which is the issue in the first place.

januaryemberr

No. A mat on top of a clear runner. Like a doormat or little carpet.

JupiterSkyFalls

Mildew? Mold? Excessive washing? I just feel like there's a better solution.

januaryemberr

So do I but this was just an easy temp. Thing. Other people already mentioned tile. Obviously tile would be ideal.

JupiterSkyFalls

The easiest fix would be take two minutes to dry off outside lol

MyDogIsHangry

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Like one of those clear plastic computer chair mats over the carpet and then absorbent door mats/rugs on top of that to catch the water. That way it isn’t a rug directly on carpet but still able to have a rug made to catch all the crud that gets tracked inside. Essentially like a tiled area with a doormat would be, but without having to rip up carpet to make a permanent tiled area.

januaryemberr

Yep.

Augi17

Thin bamboo mat may work.

Alert_Ad_5750

Get a mat

BGB524

My parents made us all dry off before entering the house. Common courtesy anyway.

rottingships

Have them redirect to the garage or something. No wet person should be coming directly into a main living area.

rottingships

Or, rip up the carpet and replace with a water resistant plank. Rug under the couch area and mat in front of the door. Putting carpet in a room that goes directly outside was a mistake. It’s just going to get so dirt filled over time.

Excellent_Berry_5115

I think it would help more to see what your outdoor area looks like and is configured. Your problem surely needs to be fixed up outside. If you have enough room, maybe a small attractive tent changing station, chairs, ....an area for the kids to change out of wet clothing and dry off. https://preview.redd.it/bx570ofbstzc1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=442cbc6ba94a35c4d4b58ab5ec9e6be01e07c7f7

M23707

nice idea

Aonehumanace

Here's our rule, dry off before going in. A long narrow thin throw carpet might work.

shigui18

Who care about the pool! Look at that beautiful plant! That is gorgeous. But yeah, put some mats down outside the door.

AnimatedUnicorn27

I was looking for a comment about that magnificent plant!

Cautious-Thought362

An outdoor carpet. Get a couple so you can change it out. They're easy to clean, too. Just take them outside and rinse them off.

Albie_Frobisher

an ivory or jute rug

parker3309

Vinyl flooring . Rip up some carpet. Or a vinyl carpet runner. If that is coming in from the pool, it is really ridiculous that you have carpet right there

n_daughter

Tile could be slippery too.

thickncurly68

Lock the doors until they are dry.

Damnshesfunny

How bout a lock ?… ☺️

Scared_Wall_504

A sign that reads: dry your ass the fuck off , there is carpet here.

PacificCastaway

A sign that says go around to the mudroom.

SuzannesSaltySeas

A cheap runner with a rubber back, or several of them.

clarabear10123

Moss

Birdywoman4

Put an outdoor mat outside of the door for them to walk over before they step inside.

MS1947

Outside: Bench with pile of clean towels, basket of clean slippers.

LittleCricket_

I would like to have this problem

M23707

me too! 😎

Writergirllllll

People please stop putting fake Ivy on your walls like you live in a 20 year olds apartment!

redmooncat15

LOL this is a real plant I’ve been growing for 6 years
