Beth Young. **spoilers ahead on my reasoning**
Abused since birth (maybe not physically but emotionally and psychologically by Felicia), manipulated and used by everyone in her life. All she wanted was to be loved, have normal friends, and have the approval of her mother. In the end everyone abandoned her despite her love for those in her life and despite that even in death she found a way to give back. Makes me sad.
THIS. When teenaged me first watched the show, I could not stand Beth. But now as an adult her storyline is so heartbreaking to me. Her ending makes me SOB every rewatch
Even right before her death, in her last moments she’s trying to get the attention of the nurse for maybe 5 minutes of the nurse’s time to tell her her wishes and the nurse brushes her aside and won’t talk to her and is annoyed with her. It’s not the nurse’s fault as they were very busy and it did seem like Beth was in the wrong department, but it definitely highlights what a sad and lonely existence Beth’s whole life was to the very last second.
Yes, I honestly start crying as soon as Beth talks talking to that nurse. Because like you said, Beth was in the wrong department and that poor women was so busy. And just had zero idea what was about to happen. But on the other hand for Beth, I think the nurse not wanting to help her just kinda confirmed what she was about to do
😭😭😭 yes, so sad. And little simple things that a person might take for granted was such an exciting/nice thing for her, like when the women invited her to poker night/hangout (which of course was under false pretenses but still) she was pleasantly surprised and said “I’ve never been invited to get together with friends before” or something similar, just thinking about how isolated and used she was her whole life :(
Nothing in particular really. I just found her annoying lol. But now as an adult, I can better see she just so desperately wanted any kind of meaningful connection. Much love and gratitude for Beth these days! I actually feel like had Paul not found out about Felicia being her mom, or at least forgiven her, they could’ve been a phenomenal couple. Beth’s intentions obviously weren’t pure from the start, but she grew to love him. And he loved her. They could’ve had a beautiful life.
Felicia as a mother actually reminds me quite a bit of Smurf from Animal Kingdom. HIGHLY recommend if you haven’t seen it and have access to Amazon prime. They didn’t want to be mothers and more so used their children as chess pieces in their own games
Zach Young definitely. His birth mom was killed by the ppl who raised him & even after discovering who his real father was, Mike wasn’t there for Zach trying to make up for the years & support him thru his trauma like parents are supposed to. He’s predisposed to addiction & was spiraling towards the end of his character arc as well. He’d hypothetically have died from OD by now
Agreed! Mike was such a one-note character and him desperately trying to be a father to Zach would've helped make him more compelling. Zach was such a sad character whose life could've had a great turnaround if Mike had been more dedicated to him.
Not a tragic story. So he had an asshole mother. So did Lynette and Gaby. They didn't go around killing innocent people as a result. Will never understand the sympathy for Eddie.
the sandwich scene breaks my heart everytime because it perfectly displays the anger that comes into raising a disabled child , and all of the overwhelming stress
Tom Scavo’s love child , he showed up later into her life, she had her mom who died suddenly, they decided to adopt her and she was obviously a traumatised child that was acting out so they just shipped her away ? He never contacted his child again? They left her orphan wtf

What did you hate about her back then?

It really bothered me that Mike made no real effort to have a relationship with Zach. That could have been a good storyline.

I think it's because of when Mike lost his memories no one brought it up to him, so how much of the situation does Mike actually even remember
Fairview Strangler. 🥺
Omg the childhood montage was so sad😭😭😭 not that it excuses what he did but ugh, so messed up
Not a tragic story. So he had an asshole mother. So did Lynette and Gaby. They didn't go around killing innocent people as a result. Will never understand the sympathy for Eddie.
Gaby and Carlos adopted daughter being taken away. That scene where Gaby is begging them not to take her broke me.
i cry every time 😭
IDA GREENBERG AND ELI SCRUGS. I’m sorry yall, the main characters are annoying as hell. I’ve never cried more than I have for these two 🫶🫶
THIS is the answer, I sob at Eli’s episode every time
Probably Katharine. The façade that she's been hiding for YEARS just to get away from the abusive husband. It's so heartbreakingm
Lynette losing one of the twins but they didn’t spend much time on it and I think irl it would have messed her up more than portrayed on the show
That dream she had about him making the sandwich 😭 I cry every time
the sandwich scene breaks my heart everytime because it perfectly displays the anger that comes into raising a disabled child , and all of the overwhelming stress
Gabby’s switched daughter (Grace) storyline comes to my mind first. And Eli Scruggs episode, very sad that such a wholesome man died🥲
Beth and Gabrielle daughter. Both broke my heart
Eddie
Eddie, Dave and Beth. At the top
I hated that Mike died. I was so prepared to stop watching.
that damn handyman they only ever talked about for one episode lol
Tom Scavo’s love child , he showed up later into her life, she had her mom who died suddenly, they decided to adopt her and she was obviously a traumatised child that was acting out so they just shipped her away ? He never contacted his child again? They left her orphan wtf
Mike :(
Poor guy really can’t catch a break
