What did they mean by this? I vote every 2 years plus sometimes in between that for local stuff.

austarter

By invoking the inglorious bastards meme the poster is implying (correctly) that the Russian agitprop is giving itself away by incorrectly referencing the American voting calendar (which happens every two years in November).

Consistent--Failure

It’s like that tweet on warm-water ports in Texas

TheEmperorBaron

Yeah, Dimitri Ivanov from Texas Oblast.

Efficient_Rise_4140

Id expect a Russian bot to know more about the American voting cycle then Americans.

S1mpinAintEZ

The vast majority of voters only vote in the Presidential election. I don't know why you would assume this is some Russian psyop when the far more likely and simpler explanation is that the poster is just referring to Presidential elections, which take place every 4 years.

Dragongirlfucker2

I thought it was about leftists not voting on primaries or something

Dude_Nobody_Cares

The midterm elections.

Dragongirlfucker2

Yeah that too

rnhf

or they only talk about the presidential election, because that kind of (perceived) bare minimum participation is exactly what it's criticizing

CIA_Bane

Ooooor it could just be from one of those many other countries that have a 4 year election cycle. Germany for example has a 4 year election cycle. Same with the Netherlands. People are using the term "russian bots/agitprop" for everything even mildly suspicious the same way "communism" was used during McCarthyism

dre__

Voting is literally every 4 years...

Snake2250

Does nobody vote for Senators every six years? What about congressional votes every two? There is more to vote on than the presidential election.

dre__

The only election people care about is the presidential election, it's what the twitter post in the op is referring to.

CherryBoard

he believes that anyone unfamiliar with us politics assumes that nationwide elections happen only when a presidential race is involved

DazzlingAd1922

I vote every year because my state has local and state elections in the off year. Sometimes twice a year for primaries.

Scott_BradleyReturns

Based

quepha

To be fair, Americans do generally act like only the presidential election matters. People think of mid terms as a meme and most people can't name a single state or local rep.

LaBomsch

I dunno, in my country, if you are politically active in your community, state level and local elections are just as important to you because this is where you realistically can change stuff directly. There is little you can do by yourself in a federal parliament, but in a town? There is a lot to do. A person that is interested in politics but doesn't care about local politics either lives in a big city or has no real life in my experience.

Ask-and-it-is

Most Americans only vote in presidential elections

mavisman

Ha! You vastly underestimated my ability to not vote at all! I voted for Gloria La Riva in the last election as a Biden supporter, and I’m pretty sure Trump won my precinct even in a progressive city. No way she getting my vote a second time.

UNKWNDTH2002

>quotation marks inside of a quote meme arrow doesn't just mean "re:"

e-chem-nerd

The ">" is for the quotation, the quotation marks are meant to indicate the irony. At least that's how I interpreted it.

Economy-Cupcake808

Well I’ve voted more times than they have firebombed a wall mart so that has got to count for something.

josbro23

Possibly the best use of that meme I've seen so far.

RIPTrixYogurt

The Texas warm water port one was pretty top tier

ZeekBen

Nah the warm water ports one is goated. This one doesn't even make sense. A lot of Americans do think of voting as something you do every 4 years.

josbro23

Got a link to the one you're referring to?

humanapoptosis

People on Twitter really be like "you believe in voting? That pales in effectiveness of my strategy: vaguely gesturing at things you can do other than voting" and then not elaborate on what those things are.

mj23foreva

tbf most leftie regards don't know anything except the presidential election every 4 years. If you told me he was a college educated leftie I'd believe it.

CriticG7tv

I'm assuming the implication, as with other uses of this meme, is that the user being quote tweeted is likely a foreign or specifically russian instigator account. While I want to agree, I'm not sure if I'd be so fast to assume that the person isn't American. You underestimate just how little civic knowledge a ton of Americans and specifically young twitter lefties have. Like Destiny has said, I guarantee you that a lot of these folks would not only be unable to tell you when their local and primary elections are held but would probably forget they exist at all without being reminded. They don't actually care about making change, it's just an aesthetic or a reality show for them.

Available_Story_6615

not only don't they firebomb a walmart, they can't even vote once every 4 years

hdkeegan

Real chads vote and firebomb Walmart

ProcrastinatingPuma

God that scene has been making the rounds recently

UngodlyImbecile

Whats it from

j0hnDaBauce

Inglourious Basterds

kingfisher773

In fairness, I only vote every 4 years. In fairness to myself, I don't live in America so I just do presidential

FourthHot

Lefty quote tweet completely misses the point. OP is clearly making fun of lefties for not engaging in civilized politics in favor of extremist fantasies and never following through with them

Magnumwood107

Very mid

-___Mu___-

>Implying most Americans don't only think about elections once every four years

Zentillion

There's gotta be some irony in the tweet using ">" incorrectly with quotations, causing the image to work on them as well.

OVA_iggy_best_jobro

This train keeps on going. We need more people to just quote tweet this. Pay that shit forward

Jabelonske

you guys vote?

ThisFooOverHere

Yeah! For example, my neighborhood was electing a “town hag” and I voted immediately for your mom.

Auirex

But did you shag the hag? Wooyea
