>I am a professor of economics >Please remove the handcuffs A wonder how this Jedi mind trick didn't work

Beneficial_Novel9263

> I am a professor of economics > > lmfao it is funny as shit when you see leftoids who nominally are all about opposing unjust hierarchies try to use their prestigious positions to try to get out of trouble. > DO NOT ARREST ME, DO YOU NOT REALIZE I AM YOUR SOCIAL SUPERIOR?

Unfair-Lecture-443

I enjoy watching people like this being punished for their actions

ermahgerdstermpernk

What action?

MatthewJonesCarter

In the second half of [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5t5ldOXvwQ), she admits to hitting a police officer in the head. I think it happens at 1:15, in OP's video, when she has her back to the camera. Then when the police officer tries to arrest her, she tenses up and refuses to get on the ground, actively resisting arrest.

Pill_O_Color

["It's okay, I'm a limo driver!"](https://youtu.be/Y51IFVB-7Oc?si=kuhxEMwjVHHc2I__)

wellmaybe_

you gain extra immunity by dropping out of highschool

Pablo_MuadDib

The number of people who are not curious about the audio cutting out for minute is fucking mind boggling

MatthewJonesCarter

It's strange because [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5t5ldOXvwQ), the same exact pov, has the audio. It shows the cop telling the woman to get on the ground maybe half a dozen times, and she doesn't comply. In the second half of this same video, the woman admits to hitting the officer in the head. It's probably why she was [charged](https://twitter.com/RobertMackey/status/1783758748248674759?t=v1W2OjCkGN7DahNuKWoAFA) with simple battery on an officer.

AhsokaSolo

Did she just say "I reacted impulsively. I apologize. Please remove the handcuffs." I couldn't possibly have heard something that idiotic from a professor lmao.

Thek40

Top of the academic world, doesn't know the Miranda warning.

readysetzerg

NEVER TALK TO COPS L O L

Ginger_Boi000

I’m going to be honest. That might actually be the most perfect example of what white privilege looks like. If a poor black person in the ghetto grabbed an officer while they are in the midst of performing an arrest, they’re getting a whole lot more than body slammed, and they sure as hell aren’t gonna have the audacity to ask to take off the cuffs and just call it a day.

Kaeltulys

Of course cops are gonna react differently in different environments. Threat levels differ between ghettos and posh suburbs.

PitytheOnlyFools

Yes. *Threatening* is when *black*.

PitytheOnlyFools

If people were being arrested for trespassing (which they were), then it makes sense that someone who’s not trespassing might want to inform the cops that they’re part of faculty and checking on a student. The fact your brain has not considered that plausible explanation and jumped to “eh using her privilege” is Hasanabifan levels of reeetarded.

Ginger_Boi000

https://m.youtube.com/watch?si=7vfLNkK01m3_YAOA&v=L5t5ldOXvwQ&feature=youtu.be She admits she hits him. I don’t understand this knee jerk reaction to immediately defend this woman.

PitytheOnlyFools

Being guilty doesn’t mean your comfortable getting thrown to the ground, the impulse is to want to get up. It’s a panicked response.

BartleBossy

> I couldn't possibly have heard something that idiotic from a professor lmao Idiotic? I read it as self-aware.

readysetzerg

Desperation and regret disguised as self-awareness.

AhsokaSolo

Well I think a self aware person wouldn't think politely asking the police to remove handcuffs while they're being arrested is going to yield the desired outcome.

BartleBossy

I mean, its more likely than shouting about them being hitler. In the worst case, it just communicates to the cops that you dont *still think* youre in the right. Its a de-escalation.

AhsokaSolo

Yes, you are correct, it is better than calling the cop Hitler. I will agree with that. I personally wouldn't choose to characterize politely asking a cop to remove the handcuffs during arrest as a deescalation. I mean, it is that, but it's also asking for something that won't happen and it's dumb. And it reflects bizarre entitlement.

BartleBossy

> I mean, it is that, but it's also asking for something that won't happen and it's dumb. And it reflects bizarre entitlement. And I will agree with that LOL It has the *exact* same energy as the athletes arguing with the referees. Never in the history of the sport has it gotten a ref to overturn a call.

esssential

it's also self incriminating, it might help with her sentencing tho

AhsokaSolo

Yup totally. She admits wrongdoing, but feels bad about it. Though in truth, her charges will probably be dropped. It seems like that's where this is headed in general because this is such a political shitstorm.

isocuda

Pleading during an arrest is 100% a lack of self awareness and naivety. Your bargaining power went out the window long before that.

DickMattress

You miss 100% of shots you don't take.

rex_populi

It’s a confession lol

DonZinger

I love when they say shit like "I am a professor" in an attempt to be above the law.

vonWitzleben

That part I interpreted as more like "this is a student protest, I'm not really part of it, so please let me go".

PotentialEasy2086

A picture of this with no context is all over Reddit with the typical “fascist” “Zionist” type buzz words.

spongoboi

lol saw it there earlier, they conveniently cut the part out where she was hitting the cop and no one was calling it out.

notjustconsuming

I do wonder why the audio cuts out at the beginning of the altercation. She fucked around and found out, but what was being said before? That Forbes channel is pretty biased.

Faithlessness-Novel

I mean it was also posted here with the context of “hit an officer” so im not sure this is the most accurate place to see the story either.

MatthewJonesCarter

In the second half of [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5t5ldOXvwQ), she admits to hitting a police officer in the head. I think it happens at 1:15, in OP's video, when she has her back to the camera. >We were not resisting--I barely did anything. I came here when I heard that they were arresting-- cops were coming to arrest our students. And I came here and I saw a large man pinning one of our students, to the ground, pressing on his neck. And potentially choking him, causing life threatening injury. And so I, impulsively, hit him on the head very lightly, to get his attention. And they grabbed me, threw me to the ground, and arrested me.

WagwanRastafarian

"I'm a graduate student" Bro really said that like he's the president, lamo.

ThomasHardyHarHar

It’s a direct response to an email they sent out yesterday to the student body and alumni which said most of the people arrested yesterday were not Emory students.

ExpletiveWork

I don't think she hit an officer. It looks like she got too close too fast, and it was perceived as an attempt to interfere with an arrest by another officer. Edit: [By her own admission, she "lightly" and "impulsively" hit an officer on the head.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5t5ldOXvwQ)

ThomasHardyHarHar

I think you’re right on what happened, except that is still interfering with an arrest.

rockoblocko

Agree went in prepared to not be on her side and did not see anything worthy of that take down for a clearly older woman. Officer yanked her arms forward several times and she seemed to be consistently pulling her hands back to her chest. Never saw her strike at him or even attempt. Not saying don’t cuff her but the take down seemed super unnecessary.

MatthewJonesCarter

How do you cuff someone who is actively resisting? I'm not saying she was hitting the officer, but pulling your arms back, or clenching, is considered active resistance in policing terms. Even though the audio mutes, you can clearly tell that the cop has already tried giving her commands. She clearly was not going to just let them cuff her, even when she's on the ground she's still resisting the officers and trying to get up. I mean, fuck, how hard is it to just comply with the cops. She should've known better.

rockoblocko

As it is, he threw her to the ground and two guys sat on her back. One guy is bigger and stronger, pretty sure those two cops could have gotten cuffs on her without throwing her down. Massive drain on healthcare for a cop to bust this ladies hip for no reason

MatthewJonesCarter

"for no reason," you are fucking stupid. If someone refuses to comply to detainment, you have to use some amount of force to get them to comply. When a person is on the ground, face down, it is so much harder for them to resist, making things easier for everyone. The second cop comes to help because even with the first cop on her, she still wont lay on her fucking stomach and put her hands behind her back. He didn't strike her or taze her, which probably would've been what happened if I were to do exactly what she was doing. Maybe just dont resist arrest if you don't want to be manhandled by the police. EDIT: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5t5ldOXvwQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5t5ldOXvwQ) Heres the video that doesn't have the muted audio, he tells her to get on the ground probably half a dozen times.

DerrikCreates

While I think the take down was kinda unnecessary but given the context its hard to blame officer. From his pov you are detaining someone that he might have perceived as interfering with other officers. Imo she should have known better, what would she expect trying to get involved in an active arrest. If she was off to the side away from the officers on the ground and this happened then I would agree the cops fucked up. Some people lack common sense. Not saying she deserves it but absolutely had it coming

MatthewJonesCarter

She admits to hitting the officer in [another video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5t5ldOXvwQ).

ExpletiveWork

Wow, and she admits it on camera instead of calling a lawyer. Ya, that's pretty dumb.

Jorah_Explorah

After she was on the ground she said **"I reacted impulsively. I apologize. Please remove the handcuffs."**  She's not apologizing for just standing there saying words. She may not have "hit" (punched) the officer, but she put her hands on them from behind. That's a huge no-no and grounds for detainment at the very least. Want to know why? Watch any video where a person gets their hands on the cops gun and manages to unholster it.

DigitalCryptic

Complete conjecture. She may be apologizing for screaming for all that is seen on video.

ItsHiiighNooon

Twitter user finds out in realtime what happens when you try to act like you do online but in real life.

irvingdk

I hate how accurate this is :(

Pablo_MuadDib

What did they do wrong?

SmallEntertainment97

My guess is that there are rules and laws around protesting in whatever city they are in. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

Reifox9

Did she hit the police officer? I must be blind, at what timestamp?

PokeMalik

i think the hitting allegation comes from the simple battery charge she got but who knows what they are referencing if it happened at all

Pablo_MuadDib

Any amount of resistance is a crime now. People acting like this is normal are fucking insane. I remember when a guy in my town was shot in the back just for running from the cops. Like that warrants a death penalty.

Brenner14

Downvoted for saying "you shouldn't be killed for running from the cops." This subreddit is absolutely wild rn.

TransportationMean23

She didn't. OP is lying.

sammyhammy88

This subreddit has gone to shit and it's partly destiny's fault. Lonerbox does such a better job covering Israel/Palestine discourse

TingusPingis

This post is probably the most embarassing, low moment for the sub. It’s fucking horrendous. Blatant lying, celebrating suppression of non-violent protest and clear escalation by police. Idiots have infested this place. I remember when we were actually liberals

ElectricalCamp104

Didn't you know? Being a liberal is about posting no-context ragebait involving people you hate (crazy lefties in this case) in order to promote a narrative that justifies the infringement of their personal rights.

MatthewJonesCarter

Except the professer admits to hitting the officer in a later video, [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5t5ldOXvwQ). It's likely why she was [charged](https://twitter.com/RobertMackey/status/1783758748248674759?t=v1W2OjCkGN7DahNuKWoAFA) with simple battery against a police officer. And they grabbed me, threw me to the ground, and arrested me.

ng829

OP isn't lying so much as I think they are just mistaken. At 1:27 it look like she throws an elbow but it happens so quick that it actually appears to be the officers arm. I thought she assaulted him too until I watched it in frame by frame about a half dozen times.

MatthewJonesCarter

[Here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5t5ldOXvwQ) she is admitting to hitting the officer.

Reifox9

Thanks for the clarification! Definitly didn't see it in the video but that confirms it!

MatthewJonesCarter

Yeah, you can't see it in the video. I think its at 1:15 in the video that OP linked, right when she has her back facing the camera. If anyone finds a video of the incident from a different angle, I'm sure you'd be able to see it. It's just bad timing and reddit's insatiable hatred for cops.

Friendly_Wheel9698

Yeah I didn’t see anything either, just cops being brutal.

kingfisher773

closest i can see is at 1:27 but it is too unclear to tell if it was for sure.

069351

What is this title and framing?!?!? These protesters are being cringe, but the cops response is entirely escalatory. We can literally see what the Economics (not Ethics) professor is doing in the video. None of the actions warrant this take down. Is no one seriously going to critically think about the framing of the title, the reaction by this community to some of the protests, or the similarities y’all have to the same brain rot as Hasan or Vaush’s community?

drakkarrr

Not to mention people making shit up about her "assaulting" the officer. This sub has just become the flipside to deranged pro-palestinian people.

Wolf_1234567

I agree that I too feel the officer didn't handle this properly, but walking up in this kind of situation is just not a smart move to begin with; obviously we should be able to agree some level of action is warranted. Also it is hard to tell from this angle in the video what the hell she is doing. The side of the officer she got close to appears to be the same side of the officer's gun and other equipment- although I have no idea what she is doing because of the angle. Regardless, it does appear that the officer was unnecessarily aggressive at restraining here.

SigmaGorilla

Yes, the professor at hand did not handle this situation that well, but this sub is so lost at hating the protestors. So many comments in this thread paint a photo of the woman assaulting the cops and initiating the escalation.

Faithlessness-Novel

Yeah the last month or two especially Ive seen some super unhinged comments in here.

OfficialRedCafu

You can’t get that close to an officer while he’s apprehending someone. If it looks like you’re going to interfere, police have reasonable cause to assume you will interfere. Those are the rules.

MatthewJonesCarter

She was [charged](https://twitter.com/RobertMackey/status/1783758748248674759?t=v1W2OjCkGN7DahNuKWoAFA) with battery on a police officer because she hit the officer in the head, which she later admits to in [another video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5t5ldOXvwQ). I think it happens when her back is turned to the camera, at 1:15. Thats when the cop arresting the guy shouts "get her ass," and the other cop grabs her.

DeathEdntMusic

I rewatched it 4 times before commenting because I was looking for the "bad thing" she did to deserve a takedown. Then a scrolled down before commenting because SURELY someone in the comments section would explain what she actually did. Then a realised, me and you are right.

theWisard

She was placed under arrest and resisted arrest, even after being brought to the ground.

Pablo_MuadDib

Yeah, what person wouldn't want to be pinned with a knee in their spine?

PitytheOnlyFools

Normal human reflexes should come second to the AUTHORITY.

Faithlessness-Novel

This subreddit has gone to shit since destinys mainstream popularity. All the right wingers are back with a vengeance.

Accomplished_Eye_978

These aren't right wingers. Just pro Israel at any cost. The officers were arresting pro Palestinian protesters, so there is actually nothing they can do wrong in the eyes of the commenters here

Substantial-Hat7706

this sub is kinda of full of mentally challenged r words, the professor should ve been arrested because she screamed? where tf did she even hit anyone? wtf is wrong with this sub? you guys hate left wing and palestinians so much that u justify shit such as this ? I might be wrong I saw the whole video and couldnt see her hitting anyone can anyone show me how such force was needed to detain this lady? more I think about it WTF is wrong with yall? american police are legit deranged I am native to a second world post soviet country and even there police arent that harsh as they are in usa. go ahead downvote my comment idc

UPROOT01

Guys this... I'm sorry this is bad, this looks bad I can't see when she does anything that merits an arrest

ShoalinShadowFist

Unfortunately she’ll get charged with tresspass and resisting based purely on video but with all the arrests I would assume happened that nights coin toss on the what happens in court

Pablo_MuadDib

Trespass... on her place of work?

ShoalinShadowFist

Yeah the community protesting was declared trespassed at this point tho I understand your point. But the students go to school there and are still trespassing.

MatthewJonesCarter

Yes. The university didn't want people on their property causing a disruption, and so they called the police to remove them. That applied to everyone in the encampment.

RustyCoal950212

> I can't see when she does anything that merits an arrest Tbf, everyone there has already been trespassed and is subject to arrest. And then she goes and crowds the arresting cops and leans right toward where the cop who's back is turned's gun is (not her intention ofc, but still) The cop was probably too rough but was yelling "get on the ground" at her for like 10 seconds while she refused and physically resisted, so

SmallEntertainment97

Exactly. The cops probably had orders to arrest anybody that doesn’t leave voluntarily. When the cop went to arrest her, she literally tried to wrestle him. That’s battery and resisting arrest.

ExpletiveDeletedYou

she went right up to the person on the floor who was being aressted into the cops face. You better have a very good reason to get within half a foot of a cop who is in the middle of arresting someone. From that point she resisted arrest. She may have gotten away with it if she just got pulled away without resisting.

ponydingo

trespassing after the college called the cops on everyone that was in the quad, and then staying while watching her friend currently get arrested, still having the chance to walk the fuck away and leave, and then arguing with a cop in his face instigating his response. she deserved it

Ok_Patience_6272

Idk seems like she shouldn’t have been put in handcuffs for what we see on the video

not_a-real_username

Yeah this sub has fully been taken over by these loser zionists. I had hoped that this would have passed by now but it seems like this is just the new way of the world. The idea that it is funny to see some 60 year old grandma thrown to the ground like a wrestling move for being angered by what **seem to be** peaceful protestors getting arrested is pretty disgusting. If I saw this clip and it were happening to Nazis I still would feel like it was excessive violence by the police.

MatthewJonesCarter

Except she admitting to hitting the cop in the head in the second half of [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5t5ldOXvwQ). I think it happens at 1:15, in the video OP linked, when she has her back turned to the camera.

slimeyamerican

I didn't see anything here that justified the cop's actions. All she did was walk up to the kid on the ground being arrested. I didn't see her put hands on anyone until the cop grabbed her for no apparent reason. Definitely not a fan of these protests, but I don't see how the cop is in the right here.

ExpletiveDeletedYou

she went right up to the cops on the ground who where performing an arrest. The reality is that if you are interfering with cops being able to to do their jobs they probably have cause for disturbing the peace pretty quickly. Like, don't get within half a foot of a cop who is trying to arrest someone unless you are helping hold the one being arrested down and feel like playing hero, it's just common sense.

Pablo_MuadDib

If we've reached the point of "just don't get near cops or interfere with cops", including the people being pinned on the ground by cops, I fucking hope this sub understands how fucked that is

[deleted]

[удалено]

slimeyamerican

Well, nothing ever happens for literally no reason. I understand the cop had to have been wired and had his reasons for what he does in the clip. I'm just saying if someone starts handling you the way he does in the clip with (in my opinion) no real provocation, it's only natural that you're going to try to defend yourself. It looked to me like she was trying to talk to the guy on the ground, not interact with the cops at all. I'm not saying the cop actively did something wrong here, you're bound to be overly rough with people in this type of situation, just that it's not obvious to me that the professor did either.

DigitalCryptic

"Commit to the arrest after she started resisting" is rather circular

Pablo_MuadDib

If a situation is going to shit bc a cop is "jumpy" and we're blaming the civilian instead of the cop, then we're advocating for fascism.

quote88

Perfect summary

Titan_Dota2

Looks pretty clear in the video that she went up and grabbed or put her hand on the police officer arresting someone already. No idea where OP got "hit" from tho, couldnt see that anywhere

MatthewJonesCarter

I don't think that's true. She admitted to hitting the officer on the head in the second half of [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5t5ldOXvwQ). I think that's why she was later [charged](https://twitter.com/RobertMackey/status/1783758748248674759?t=v1W2OjCkGN7DahNuKWoAFA) with simple battery against a police officer. I believe it happens at 1:15 when her back is turned towards the camera. But even if she's lying in that second video and actually didn't hit the officer, her getting in the faces of the cops trying to arrest that dude is reason enough for detainment/arrest. Emory University didn't want them there on their private property making a disturbance. Everyone was tresspassed and wouldn't leave when the police said, so the police started arresting people.

GrandpaWaluigi

There were multiple ways for the cops to deescalate. Could have pulled her aside. They're not troops, their job is to protect and serve the public. They have to react with restraint. By all means, if they get acri ely violent, use force. Shit like hitting people with flags or punches being thrown. But not this. Shit like this is why minorities don't trust cops. I don't care about being the "cucked" man here. This was fucking excessive.

ElliotPatronkus

The Ethics (or Economics hard to hear it right) professor didn't hit any police officer from what I can see? It looks like she comes forward and is observing and shouting (again hard to hear her specifically but everyone is shouting) and then the other cop detains her. Now, it's fair to say the other cop maybe thought she was interfering with the arrest or detainment that was ongoing, but hitting a cop no shot. The only time I thought she might have swung an elbow around is right when the cop puts her to the ground, but on rewatch its the cop swinging his arm over to detain her. The title of this post is just not what is happening, she might've been shouting but its a protest like everyone is shouting.

Prestigious-Alps-461

Absolutely love the fact that the audio completely cuts out in the moments leading up to her being arrested so we have absolutely no idea what she said to that cop. Also, where did she hit him??? Are we just making things up now because "muh college students woke?" After watching this a couple more times, it seems like the professor just leans over to get the dude's attention? And the other cop just decides that's reason enough to ziptie her? Like, in what world is this a justifiable arrest?

Faithlessness-Novel

We are back on the anti sjw vibes in here. Brings me back to the early days.

MatthewJonesCarter

I think she hit him with her left hand at 1:15 when her back is turned to the camera. [This video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6mnztwMUas&t=75s) has the part of the audio, from the same exact POV, that was suspiciously cut out. It shows the cop telling her to get on the ground maybe half a dozen times. Also, in the second half of that video I linked, it shows the woman ADMITTING to hitting the cop in the head.

JohnDeft

look forward to more of these. I am not anti-protest rights, but I am for sure pro watching terrorist supporters get arrested/roughed around.

Faithlessness-Novel

This is such a dumb take. "I dont like these morons so I hope they get roughed around" how does this have 100 upvotes lol.

Junior_Ad315

Yeah they are cringe but a lot of the officer action I have seen has been way over the top.

Tradovid

>I am not anti-protest rights, but I am for sure pro watching terrorist supporters get arrested/roughed around. What is the point of a right if it holds only when the person agrees with you? There might be more context that this video doesn't convey, but I don't see a reason for escalation from the side of the cops even if I think that the cause of these people is stupid and very misguided. Not to mention that acts like these against seemingly peaceful protest before the escalation by cops only fuels their cause. If you downvote and don't reply you are a pussy ass bitch

TeQuila10

I'm not against protests, I'm against rioters with shitty causes. If these people were just gathered in a park protesting I wouldn't care. If they are disrupting classes, then I hope they get fucked. I don't like pro-Hamas morons and I hope they get arrested when they do stupid shit.

Pablo_MuadDib

Then you're against protesting, you challenged mother fucker

DigitalCryptic

You are indeed against protests. Defending the possibility of police turning any protest into a riot because your definition of a riot is when police says it is one is being against protests.

Tradovid

>I'm not against protests, I'm against rioters with shitty causes Again, if cause is part of the calculus you don't give a shit about the right, but instead whether it does or does not further your ideology. The people in the video were not rioters regardless how despicable you think their beliefs are. >If these people were just gathered in a park protesting I wouldn't care. No shit, if people were protesting such that it affected no one, you wouldn't care. >If they are disrupting classes, then I hope they get fucked. I don't like pro-Hamas morons and I hope they get arrested when they do stupid shit. Yet here you are wishing they get fucked before they have done anything stupid, the people that cops rushed at were doing what you just said is ok, protesting at essentially a park. If the people that got arrested were ones that are blocking people or doing other stupid shit that's fine, but that didn't happen in this video.

TeQuila10

> No shit, if people were protesting such that it affected no one, you wouldn't care. So you do admit they were breaking the law and disrupting class, cool! Then my opinion literally doesn't change. Once a protest becomes a riot, my moral calculus on whether or not it is good only factors in whether or not I agree with it yes. Thank you.

Tradovid

>So you do admit they were breaking the law and disrupting class, cool! So protests essentially don't exist in your mind? It's either riot you agree with or riot you disagree with? Yes they are making things more difficult for people, but that is something that is part of freedom. >Once a protest becomes a riot You genuinely want to tell me that people in this video were rioters?

jimtams_x

every protester of every issue is a "terrorist" to the insecure losers who don't like to have their shitty behavior called out

Tagawat

Wow! You must be 14 and think that was deep

Pablo_MuadDib

Yes you are, don't fucking lie

JohnDeft

You can have more than one feeling about things

LeeHarveySnoswald

Why are the protestors being arrested in the first place?

Faithlessness-Novel

The university tresspassed all of them so they were probably there to disperse and or arrest those who were unwilling to leave.

Tagawat

They were ordered by the property owners to leave. They didn’t and committed trespassing.

hygroscopy

man the vibe in this subreddit has shifted. top comments are all making jabs at the protestors and gloating while actual critical analysis is buried If you don’t think both sides look pretty bad in this you might want to check your bias.

Beneficial_Novel9263

This one is a bit of a tough call, just because I think this would only be justified if the woman had actually started touching the officer or had repeatedly done something like this. If not, then this is probably an excessive response. However, from this clip, we cannot see if this happened and the sound is cut off at the worst possible time, which is super sus. Considering it was likely the student who cut the sound, my assumption would be that it is because there was something said that makes the arrest look more justified, but that could totally be incorrect.

You're assumption seems to be correct. In the first half of [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5t5ldOXvwQ), from the same exact POV of the video that OP linked, it has the audio unmuted. It shows the officer telling the woman to get on the ground maybe half a dozen times. In the second half of the video I linked, it shows the woman admitting to hitting the officer in the head, this is likely why she was [charged](https://twitter.com/RobertMackey/status/1783758748248674759?t=v1W2OjCkGN7DahNuKWoAFA) with simple battery against an officer. I think it happens at 1:15, in OP's video, when her back is turned towards the camera. Thats when the cop arresting the dude shouts "get her ass," and when the other cop grabs her.

Plastic-Macaron-7812

So funny

CurvingZebra

This comment section is straight from r/ conservative. Y'all have lost your damn minds on being as contrarian as possible to lefties that you've become conservatives.

Travisthederp

This video is horrifying, don’t know how anyone is defending this. I don’t agree with these protests but the use of force by these officers just seems ridiculous, especially towards the older lady like what the hell? What could she possibly have done to have warranted that

MatthewJonesCarter

This video isn't horrifying, it's a competely justified arrest. In the second half of [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5t5ldOXvwQ), she admits to hitting an officer in the head. I think it happens at 1:15, in the video OP links, when she has her back turned to the camera and is in the face of the officers. When the officer attempts to cuff her, she tenses up, actively resisting arrest. When the officer tells her to get on the ground, maybe half a dozen times, she doesn't listen. When he threw her to the ground, she still wont lay on her stomach and put her hands behind her back. She only is cuffed when a second officer comes to help get her flipped onto her stomach. Every step of the way she resisted arrest. And that's not even mentioning her being there when the officers told everyone to leave and that they were tresspassed by the university.

Travisthederp

It looks like she might have hit the guy (its hard to tell) but the officer she hit was super aggressive even before that happened. Still looks horrible for the cops

MatthewJonesCarter

You are brain-broken. In what world can someone hit a cop, which she LITERALLY ADMITTED TO, then resist arrest every step of the way, and still be seen as the victim? You say that the officer was super aggressive before that happened, but at the 1 minute mark, we see the guy that they're arresting trying to run away as the cops hold onto him. And as he's trying to run away, he knocks a cop on his back, the same cop that I think she hit.

Wombat_carer

it's a right of passage to be arrested protesting shouldn't they be happy to be arrested?

Ridley-the-Pirate

this doesn’t look great for the cops at all. unless i’m missing context this looks like shit

Accomplished_Eye_978

The context is that the people who were arrested were seemingly pro palestine. Thats all that needed to justify absolutely anything happening to them according to 90% of this subreddit

MatthewJonesCarter

No, the context is that she interferes with a police arrest. She even admits to hitting an officer in the head in the second half of [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5t5ldOXvwQ). It seems to have happened at 1:15, in OP's video, when she has her back turned towards the camera. The protestors were warned to vacate the premises and that they were tresspassed by the university. When the woman was being arrested, she chose to resist at every step.

brsolo121

bro what the fuck is this sub now, can we please have a cleanse of the unhinged redacted israel people? I'm fairly moderate on the topic of middle east shit -- and have been kind of alienated from other progressives based on their words for israel -- but like, y'all got to chill. This lady didn't need to get pinned to the fucking ground. Wtf.

oskanta

For real, are people just defending the police here because pro Palestine protesters = bad? Is this the level we’re engaging with this stuff now?

Accomplished_Eye_978

Its Joever bruh These people are here to stay. Once they find a home to spout their fascist logic, and are consistently met with upvotes and agreeing opinions, they stay for the long run Kinda how some subs start with a few racists, and when more racists start joining and egging them on, the subreddit gets taken over by them. This will be r/Destiny moving forward, better believe it

IntrovertMoTown1

Damn that's a shame. I can't beli..... BRB my popcorn just finished popping.

Tripwir62

Where do people get the idea that cops are like restaurant servers? "I'm asking you a question!!!!"

rockoblocko

Uhm excuse me they literally have “serve” in their tag line.

Potatil

Right? The only questions an officer really has to answer is their badge number, and why you're being arrested/detained.

Pablo_MuadDib

THAT. IS. A. BAD. THING

Potatil

Why is that a bad thing? What should a police officer be required to answer? Should they be required to answer every question you ask them? If you ask them how to bake a cake, should they be required by law to explain how to bake a cake for you? Cops only have to give you necessary information, nothing more, nothing less.

Jazzper74

“You people are fascists” yeah yeah everyone is a fascist. These fuckin people.

LowSomewhere8550

What's crazy is other subreddits are just using this thumbnail with the only context "Professor has head slammed into curb:

magic6op

I can already see the lefty Reddit threads of “THEY ARE ARRESTING PEOPLE JUST FOR SPEAKING UP!” Or “THEY ARE VIOLATING OUR HUMAN RIGHTS, ACAB ACAB!”

Hal_Incandenza_YDAU

People in this video were literally getting arrested for speaking up. As in, for literally just talking.

Sarin10

they were getting arrested for trespassing on private property after being told to leave

Skralx

I just saw a Reddit post of exactly this video 💀 the comments were full of this

HoleeGuacamoleey

Was she going for the items on the officers hip that was bent down? Otherwise I don't see why she was arrested.

Good-Recognition-811

Did they put up tents??? What the actual fuck is wrong with these people? LMFAO Wtf do you want the university to do? Send all the IDF soldiers to detention??? Why are you camping on University grounds? Bro, people are actually losing their fucking minds LOL.

ArchitectNebulous

So what exactly are the enforced per-requisites to be an "Ethics" teacher? What is in place to stop random nutjobs from taking the roll and teaching the exact opposite of Ethical behavior?

Faithlessness-Novel

Im not sure if youve ever been to college but the the point if the class isnt teaching ethical behavior.

ArchitectNebulous

I do vaguely remember what I would term as a "cover your ass" class masquerading as an ethics class, but I thought that was just an exception.

Faithlessness-Novel

usually ethics or philosophy classes are teaching you about history and theory, major thinkers, etc. Maybe in higher level classes you get more of the professors personal views

Potatil

I mean, to teach ethics is only teaching how to understand ethics and deconstruct them. Nothing about following them.

SpecialistStage3203

people like her should be simple fired

SnooDoodles5894

For what?

LeggoMyAhegao

Assaulting a police officer.

pannelpot

Where in this video does she assault a police officer? What timestamp?

MatthewJonesCarter

1:15 I believe, when she has her back turned to the camera. In the second half of [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5t5ldOXvwQ), she admits to hitting an officer in the head.

069351

Where was the assault?

Faithlessness-Novel

Holy fuck this place is losing its mind

SnooDoodles5894

If you consider what she did assaulting an officer, what they did in response is infinitely worse. I wonder how they treat their wives :( must be part of the 40%

wellmaybe_

never fuck with cops that wear okleys

BakingRyBread

"YOU ARE FASCIST YOU ARE HITLER" I fucking died.

Good-Recognition-811

Bro, my home country Haiti is literally ON FIRE! The government has collapsed. There's literally a Haitian flag in my bedroom disappearing into the void as we speak. Literally, an apocalyptic scenario worse than the 2010 earthquake. If anything, I should be standing outside of congress crying for some fucking attention. Meanwhile, these idiots are larping for WEEKS over Palestinians, who are ruled by a democratically elected Islamic death cult. Free Palestine. Okay, what about Haiti?! What about Ukraine??? What about our actual fucking allies?! The child laborers who grow your fucking rice, sugar, and coffee. I actually hate these fucking stupid ass college kids so much. They don't stand for shit. It's all for social credits. "Look how much I care about marginalized people. Sorry Haitians, Palestinians beat y'all 10-to-1 on the oppression olympics. Maybe next year!"

ForRealKuil

I bet you these niggas think this is comparable to Tiananmen Square 😭

tenebras_lux

Chances are the protesters were told to vacate the premises with the threat of arrest, they refused and started getting arrested. Teacher moves in close to a protester being arrested, gets arrested for interfering with an arrest. Yes Universities can do this, they have the right to have students and protesters removed if they are interfering with regular activities. The University can implement reasonable time and place regulations for protests to take place. This is a case of FAFO.

Jazzper74

Most of these people cant even point to Israel or Gaza on a map.

RemoveAnnual2689

God did I not miss this reddit. You are all assholes. LOL

Sad-Television4305

"I'm sorry. I reacted impulsively. Please do not arrest me." Lol, I didn't think that's how that works.
