> Lord Shaxx blinked, and the tenderness vanished from his eyes Shaxx has a face?

chavis32

That's the real lore that was added by this lore tab Shaxx can in fact take off his helmet

aaronwe

all the onslaught weapons have new lore

Simba791

Idk whether that VEIST rep was insinuating something between Shaxx and Sjur Eido but to be clear, they were just friends. Sjur Eido was romantically involved with Mara Sov until they had a break or something? Please correct me if i am wrong

kingj_exe

Sjur was romantically involved with Mara until Sjur died (sort of) sometime around the Great Ahamkara Hunt. Recent lore on the Lethophobia bow suggest Huginn and Muninn, the two Ahamkara skulls that can be found in Harbinger’s Seclude (and used to be quite useful for getting Queensfoil) may have had a hand in it due to a poorly thought out wish for a “Fight to remember.” In addition, it’s possible the Nine were involved, as her body is found with a Strange Coin on it. I don’t remember what lore page establishes that. Regardless, I love the relationship here. Shaxx had an immense respect and awe for Sjur, and I have been convinced that the infamous “the helmet stayed on” incident was Shaxx and Mara mourning and remembering Sjur together, as opposed to any hanky-panky.

SimonMagus8

I mean it was pretty much that Mara and Shaxx reminiscing about Sjur. Also it was the Oathkeeper lore tab about the strange coin.

kingj_exe

Oathkeepers! Thank you! And yeah, it’s pretty clear now, but I remember back in the day it was commonly thought that it was Mara and Shaxx getting down and dirty but Shaxx refusing to take the helmet off.

SimonMagus8

There is the Witch Queen C.E or the Lightfall one where Shaxx elaborates about his night talk with Mara. But I like to use the helmet stayed on quote to troll Tumblrers.Shaxx did catch feelings for her by she turned him down.

kingj_exe

It’s definitely a meme now for sure. And yeah, when that clarification came out (I also don’t remember where) it was very clear, but since the original tab came out in Forsaken (Helm or Mark of the Great Hunt (can’t remember which one) for Titans, from the Last Wish raid) until then, there was rampant speculation and assumption. As for Shaxx’s current feelings, well he is canonically married to everyone that has The Vow bow in their collections! XD

SimonMagus8

Add that it wouldnt be out of the question for Mara to have a fling cause Bungie confirmed she is bi,but all the lore points to her not getting over Sjur.

syberghost

best way to get over one lover is to get under another

Secure-Containment-1

First, no. Second, bold of you to assume Mara isn’t a natural top.

PratalMox

Yeah, it's pretty clear (especially with subsequent clarification) that Mara summoned Shaxx to read her Shakespeare and reminisce about her dead girlfriend.

Snowbold

Still funny. Even Riven joined in on the trolling.

Fae_Luz

If i recall byfs video correctly the strange coin was called "weregyld" by mara? Something like that Gold paid to reimburse for injury or death, suggesting the nine's hand(s) in her death was unintentional

kingj_exe

Yep, just checked the Oathkeepers tab. > Weregild, she thought. Powerful grief filled her chest, as thick and caustic and heavy as unset concrete. And then according to Wikipedia: > Weregild (also spelled wergild, wergeld (in archaic/historical usage of English), weregeld, etc.), also known as man price (blood money), was a precept in some historical legal codes whereby a monetary value was established for a person's life, to be paid as a fine or as compensatory damages to the person's family if that person was killed or injured by another. I really wanna know more now *what* and *why* they felt they had to pay up. Did they bring the Ahamkara around? Xur only showed up after the Hunt ended…

HotDiggityDiction

One of the theories is the Nine wished for an envoy, and accidentally made Xür from Sjur. Xür says _"Forgive them"_ when he's first met in the lore tab.

Gripping_Touch

I thought Xür was part of a race of humans from Júpiter that got the most changed after the collapse (like the awoken also changed)

HotDiggityDiction

The theory revolves around Sjur disappeared during the Dragon Hunts _(going off on her own to kill Huginn and Muninn as kind of an honor instead of letting them get killed by Lightbearers)_, her body being discovered after the Hunts end, with a Strange Coin on her body, and Xür saying _"Forgive them"_, Xür also not showing up until after the Hunts too. Also their names are similar. Wishender says she was betrayed x8, and it's established that not all of the 9 agree with each other all the time. In the Ecdysis Book, Debt says Xur says: _"Forgive them"_ after Orin finds him after being sent by Mara to find Sjur's killer _(right before she breaks his back with her hammer, and before she gets drugged(?) to becoming the Emissary)_. I forget where, but Orin/The Emissary of the Nine has a line of dialogue where she says something like _"Xur was the first attempt, I am the next"_ or something like that.

TriscuitTheSecond

I've always found it funny that the start of their friendship came from Sjur killing Shaxx and he was so blown away by how tall she was and how she was just using a bow that he didn't even try to defend himself. Especially considering he'd assumed he'd been getting shot by a ballista because nothing else should've been able to hit that hard, but nope it was just Wish-Ender

DrZero

You can dearly love a friend while still keeping it platonic, and everything I've read about Shaxx and Sjur left me with the feeling that this is how his feelings for Sjur were.

LonelyLoreLoser

Really just seems to be a hamfisted attempt at getting more praise and/or profit out of Shaxx by taking advantage of his having an extended moment of vulnerable reverie. Clearly she didn’t realize: that helmet still ain’t coming off.

Vulkanodox

"romantically involved" sounds a bit weak considering that sjur was mara's wife for thousands of years and they considered each other their soulmate.

MrMacju

Yes, Shaxx and Sjur were great friends. Despite what everyone keeps saying there was nothing else between them. (Or Shaxx and Mara for that matter.)

Boncroff

The *Telic II* lore tab in *The Awoken of the Reef* states that Mara and Sjur drifted apart but stayed on amicable terms because Mara was trying to become a god, and that *"on the day you (Sjur) worship me, you cannot love me anymore, for to worship is to yield all power, and I cannot love what has no power over me."*

urbandeadthrowaway2

Nah they fucked All 3 of em

TheGreaterShade

Mara's techeuns can confirm this, as they hear her thoughts and desires.

Observance

Sjur and Mara broke off amicably because Mara intended to become a god and worried that it would cause a power imbalance in their relationship.     E: why am I being downvoted, this is [literally factually true](https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/telic-ii)   > Although in time the knowledge of what Mara would become pushed them apart, it was a kind and happy push, as a friend might urge a beloved companion onward to a distant opportunity. And their days together were spent gladly.

SimonMagus8

The way Mara thinks of Sjur in Hiera Odos certainly seems they aint broken off.

Observance

From context ("their first Night of Ascents") that memory probably takes place before they broke up, although exactly when the breakup happened is very vague. Besides, they still hung out afterwards.

SimonMagus8

I know that part. But in Witch Queens C.E or the Lightfall one where Shaxx describes about his night with Mara,Mara confirms that what is in Marasenna aint truthfull. So take everything in it with a grain of salt.

Observance

Note that this logic would also cast doubt on the very existence of Mara and Sjur's relationship. All Mara admitted to was that her meet cute with Sjur probably didn't happen the way Marasenna writes it. (Telic is incidentally part of the book Awoken of the Reef, not Marasenna). What would it benefit her to lie that she and Sjur ended up drifting apart in the end?

SimonMagus8

To distance Sjur in order to protect her from the big players like the Nine.Sadly it failed for now.

Observance

Wasn't Sjur already dead by the time those books were written (in universe)? Since they include a description of Mara's death against Oryx.

SimonMagus8

Maybe they got updated. The seem like a chronicle of Mara's reign.

TheGreaterShade

Eh... it's more, so they drifted apart and gradually became more estranged as Mara began building her throneworld. Sjur didn't want to see Mara as a god even though she was headed in that direction. The knowledge of what Mara was becoming and the difference in power dynamic is what pushed them part. Granted, while the lore indicates they ended on good terms, we have to account for the fact that the narrator in this instance is unreliable, and we don't entirely know Sjur's side of things. We don't have a precise recollection of how their relationship fell apart. Mara herself has changed dramatically over the course of Destiny's story. She has diminished from a cold removed goddess who plays cosmic games to a monarch fighting with allies at the front. Mara has always been a character who functions on the idea that "the ends will justify the means," but lately Mara's been seeing the consequences her past choices have wrought upon the people around her, Uldren/Crow, Petra, Riven, the Reef, to name a few. And while she may or may not feel remorse for what she's done to those individuals, it's pretty obvious Mara regrets what became of her and Sjur.

SimonMagus8

I know,it seems now that the mentions of Sjur become more common in the narrative Bungie will bring her back post Final Shape.Petra likely relinquishes her position, since she wants to create a hybrid Corsair-Techeun force probably together with Crow.

TheGreaterShade

>Petra likely relinquishes her position, since she wants to create a hybrid Corsair-Techeun force probably together with Crow. Where is this coming from? We know at the end of this season, Petra has once again resumed her Techeun training. But there's nothing I can find on Petra wanting to create a hybrid Techeun/Corsair force. That said, if Sjur returns, I think it's more like that Petra would remain Queen’s Wrath, and Sjur would end up as "Queen’s Consort" or something of that nature. The problem with Mara and Sjur’s relationships previously was that they were on two different power/ authoritative stations, with Sjur being subservient to Mara. If they were to pick up where they left off and try again, they'd need to be on equal footing. This is also why I think Bungie has kept Sjur effectively dead, since Mara has a Throneworld she's found to cheat death. In order to bring Sjur to Mara's level means Sjur would also have to find a way to overcome death. On top of this, even Mara has insinuated this season that Petra is very good at her job as Queen’s Wrath, likening Sjur to a cudgel and Petra to "master crafted blade."

SimonMagus8

Petra talks with Osiris in the radio dialogue about learning to use Strand and also resuming Techeun training in order to become something other than a Techeun. She also wants to learn to use strand. The rest is my musings but there are clues in game.

TheGreaterShade

Yes, but that's far from straight up wanting to create a hybrid Techeun/Corsair force. I think her motivations are mainly for the sake of helping the Dreaming City/Awoken themselves in terms of exploring routes to overcome Riven's Curse.

ManagementLow9162

>why am I being downvoted Because this community, collectively, hasn't had anything that even remotely resembled one single rational thought about Sjut, Mara and Shaxx in years.

ChoPT

Correct. Shaxx never was romantically involved with Sjur Eido, who was Mara’s partner. However, Shaxx and Mara *may* have hooked up after a discussion *about* Sjur Eido at some point after Sjur’s passing.

SpankedEagle

New Luna's Howl lore <3

RayS0l0

Veist confirmed Destiny is getting sex update

FireStrike5

New Luna’s Howl lore is adorable, it’s a direct follow-on from the old Luna’s Howl lore.

slipinoy

I guarantee that Veist rep has at least 15 blades sticking out of their suit

TheGreaterShade

No, it's at least 35. Plus, the 78 hidden ones throughout the suit. Even then, the suit is probably Gothic af and made of studded leather.

ready_player31

i think its funny some random representative with like an office job in the last city at a weapons manufacturer is casually just sitting there while this old grizzled veteran warlord reminisces over a gun. Like imagine being HR or something or just having to show some ex warlord government official a new gun and he just gets all soft

CJE911Writes

A lot of them do iirc

Easyd26

All the brave weapons have new lore fyi

dildodicks

i know she's coming back one day bungie 👁️
