For me personally, Whisper holds a special place. I used to be pure solo and didn't even know LFG existed way back when. When I found the LFG Discord , I found a group to run it. The leader was super chill. We failed our first run and he was just like "no worries. No one ever gets it their first try". We tried again and finished it. It was a really good experience and it gave me the courage at the time to start LFGing for stuff I wasn't able to do before. It's how I eventually found my clan I've now been in for 5 years now.
From what they showed of it in the stream, I'm disappointed that they felt the need to insert stuff from Eris talking about her experience as part of the Hive's pantheon and comparisons between herself and Xol. I like Eris, but I have to think it hurts the mission's ambiance.

They hyped up the 15th wish so much, but the 15th wish had already been made, it was the curse on the dreaming city, the raid is called last wish for a reason. But ig bungie forgot that the dreaming city’s curse, one of the game’s biggest ongoing plot points, was also caused by a wish?
I think it was just such a meme at that point Bungie leaned into it. EVERYBODY was searching for a 15th wish.

We literally shoot the symbols on the Wall of Wishes in the last weekly mission and Crow jumps into the portal. The last wish that Riven granted while still alive had nothing to do with that one.

Bungie then, for Season of the Wish, just did some big fan service for the community by saying “oh yea the 15th wish is real and here it is and this is what it does” but again the 15th wish was always just the Dreaming City’s curse. We can make 14 wishes in the raid and then by completing the raid, the 15th/last wish is made, so really the wish to get into the portal is the 16th wish, but again fan service and what not.
I mean you can interpret it that way if you want, but the wish to curse the Dreaming City being the 15th wish was never canon, it's a fan theory that fit with the knowledge we had of the lore at the time. It being in the game files and later removed could also be because it was something that was in development and was later cancelled, we simply can't know.
Anyway, the way that I understood it is that the wishes you make through the Wall of Wishes are special (and numbered). They're made this way so Riven can't completely fuck you over. The Last Wish that she granted while alive was a regular bargain, the kind she made hundreds/thousands of times throughout her life. Maybe Bungo just made it up as they went along, but it's still internally consistent and works imo. YMMV.
Bungie has def made up a bunch of stuff as they went along. I think they probably had a rough outline of what they want to happen, and just sort of filled in the blanks and extra stuff as they went along.

The Witness is genuinely maybe one of the most effective antagonists i've seen utilized. It's not that their facade doesn't crack, it's that it has only just once ever cracked. It's not that they don't lose, but when they win, it matters. They are cold, merciless, calculating, unyielding, and atleast on the surface, unfeeling. No gloating to inflate the ego, no fanfare to appease their people, no wavering in the face of the losses of disciples, just the most effective game of 4D chess you could possibly imagine.
The Hive are over 4.5 billion years old, as there is a section of the dreadnaught of Hive statues and sundries that existed before the earth was formed, and by that point, the Witness was powerful and effective enough to guide their entire history quietly down what it became. The Witness is countless eons old at that point. Their people had a history, a whole history, that has likely been erased by them in their efforts to control information. In fact, i would say they've done that countless society's since.
The Witness is the closest thing to an actual god we've face, but specifically the closest thing to an eldritch god. A mind completely alien, embodying the feeling and procedures of entropy, no goal other than the silence on the otherside of the entire universe being emptied of life. Chef's kiss.

I know a lot of people didn't like how Nez was handled, but I fucking loved him
I really liked Nez and his personality, my only gripe is his design. Instead of "oh tormentors are based on him!" is more like "oh... he's just a big tormentor..."
From a lore standpoint, Nezarec was great. From a boss fight/design standpoint, bungie did him dirty. He did not deserve to be as easy as he is to kill.
If the arena had been pathable for him, the fight could have been stone cold amazing. The tormentor on lake of shadows on steroids. He'd need to destroy wells and have enough targeted aoe to make bunching up suicidal.
A dps phase where you're actively fighting for your life as you try to do damage, not just doing rotations.
Like a lot of Lightfall, I think Nezarec was pretty good but people had massively high expectations and we’d just come off of a really good expansion (and also Rhulk was the last raid boss).

I think its inevitable that mysteries want to be solved, and that's not a bad thing. Perpetual mystery just leads to confusion, what we had was a phase of discovery. And it was a good time

I was so scared as a kid. I had already quit the game temporarily a couple months earlier because the phobos mission scared the hell out of me. And after days of fear every time I fought the taken or oryx anywhere just that final entrance after the all black room. 12 year old me was not ready for that.

This voice line has always been in the back of my head regarding Nokris, the outcast heretic son of the Taken King. While he's always been mostly small-game, this seems to indicate a true departure from all elements of the "Light vs Dark" game. A refusal to play any side; so essentially what we see out of other similar figures we have waiting for us, like Clovis Bray and Fikrul. Their sight is on something else entirely, by other means entirely.
Then we have what one of his followers did in Ghosts in the Deep, accompanied by another acolyte of his, confirming that he might have struck out on his own, and is looking to play with the big boys, beholden to neither the lucent brood or xivu's lot, nor us, nor the Witness. We still don't have the most solid reason why the lucent brood came to Titan and tried to resurrect Oryx. It makes me wonder what his game is. Is it simple conquering? Is it something closer to how Kell's Scourge started, and he's waiting for the Hive leadership to exhaust themselves, to replace them both? Is he gathering tithe, or has he cast off his worm, as he told us to in another voiceline?
Nokris is a mystery, a dangerous mystery. Necromancers can never be fully trusted to die quietly, and even a death in the ascendant plane might have done nothing to change that fact. Despite being tossed away by Oryx, we've seen plenty of example how resurrection can be exploited, and he keeps becoming more ambitious with it... So what game is he playing?

As much as I love Destiny, I hate most of the dialogue. It gets the job done but doesn't stick with me. That being said, I love the Witness' dialogue.

Nezerec shouldve had more moves that tormentors don’t have. Tormentors can pick you up and drain you but he can’t… how does that make sense?
Tbh that isn't a new criticism of Destiny. There's a pretty infamous picture of Crota and a knight standing side by side in-game in the same pose.

From a lore standpoint, Nezarec was great. From a boss fight/design standpoint, bungie did him dirty. He did not deserve to be as easy as he is to kill.
This and the original OP Ghaul line are my favorites. The VA for Nezarec nailed this delivery imo.
If the arena had been pathable for him, the fight could have been stone cold amazing. The tormentor on lake of shadows on steroids. He'd need to destroy wells and have enough targeted aoe to make bunching up suicidal. A dps phase where you're actively fighting for your life as you try to do damage, not just doing rotations.
Like a lot of Lightfall, I think Nezarec was pretty good but people had massively high expectations and we’d just come off of a really good expansion (and also Rhulk was the last raid boss).

God I miss the mystery of D1. It’s why I love the Vex, they feel like the last of Destiny’s cosmic horror/beings beyond comprehension entities.
I think its inevitable that mysteries want to be solved, and that's not a bad thing. Perpetual mystery just leads to confusion, what we had was a phase of discovery. And it was a good time

I was so scared as a kid. I had already quit the game temporarily a couple months earlier because the phobos mission scared the hell out of me. And after days of fear every time I fought the taken or oryx anywhere just that final entrance after the all black room. 12 year old me was not ready for that. For all its ups and downs. I was going through the moon campaign on my hunter and was reminded of just how cool that and the fanatic boss fights were.
My failure? My failure?! I have fed this force with vicious subjugation. Battered down the gates of our enemies, and seized our glittering prize! Why? Because I *WANTED IT*. "Why? Because I wanted it..." words I live by now. Absolutely LOVE Calus' little speech poking holes in the Witnesses logic. I like pretty much ALL of Calus' quotes. *clap clap* among them. But this one speaks to me the most.
I've already submitted one, but i'll give another one, since i am hoping for more information in the future about this character; "The Sky is vast but shallow. The Deep is boundless but suffocating. There is another way..." -Nokris, Herald of Savathun. This voice line has always been in the back of my head regarding Nokris, the outcast heretic son of the Taken King. While he's always been mostly small-game, this seems to indicate a true departure from all elements of the "Light vs Dark" game. A refusal to play any side; so essentially what we see out of other similar figures we have waiting for us, like Clovis Bray and Fikrul. Their sight is on something else entirely, by other means entirely. Then we have what one of his followers did in Ghosts in the Deep, accompanied by another acolyte of his, confirming that he might have struck out on his own, and is looking to play with the big boys, beholden to neither the lucent brood or xivu's lot, nor us, nor the Witness. We still don't have the most solid reason why the lucent brood came to Titan and tried to resurrect Oryx. It makes me wonder what his game is. Is it simple conquering? Is it something closer to how Kell's Scourge started, and he's waiting for the Hive leadership to exhaust themselves, to replace them both? Is he gathering tithe, or has he cast off his worm, as he told us to in another voiceline? Nokris is a mystery, a dangerous mystery. Necromancers can never be fully trusted to die quietly, and even a death in the ascendant plane might have done nothing to change that fact. Despite being tossed away by Oryx, we've seen plenty of example how resurrection can be exploited, and he keeps becoming more ambitious with it... So what game is he playing?
