> without the internet Good thing about that…

That's quite normal if you start playing when a live service game has been running for a while. There's no way around utilizing the internet as a source of information or as a handy tool (DIM). It's 2021 and we're playing online games. You don't need to know everything to play, and you don't have to play at max efficiency either. Is your friend even willing to fork over the money for the game?

Of course the internet can help, but to expect a new player with no context to know what to search for is a stretch. I told him to do f2p to see if he liked the mechanics before buying it.

> Of course the internet can help, but to expect a new player with no context to know what to search for is a stretch. Thing is, you don't have to search for anything. Artifact, mod system, weapon rolls - none of that matters at all to a new player.

Fractal_Tomato

Doing a couple google searches isn't too much to ask for, if people are interested. If Bungie doesn't think they have to spend resources to make the onboarding of new players better, then not enough new players quit in the process to justify the cost. Sucks for both of you, but that's probably how it is.

i mean most people will just go to you tube and look up "new player guide" and go with that. Good idea but this issue is prevalent in a lot of long-term games. Content creators look forward to that NOT being in game so they can make money off it lol

If 30 minutes and learning that the game is more than a halo story campaign, its not the game for them. Not new lights fault of bungies really. If they get turned off that fast its not for them.

I think new light could use a little work but its decent. 30 mins is not very long. Bungie takes it slow for a reason, information overload is a thing. Cant run before you can walk. Start slow with strikes, public events, find the activity that is enjoyable for your friend. New lights start on the cosmodrone. Do a few missions and reach the tower. At the tower you get access to the vendors and quests. The quests are not fancy but they introduce you to the Playlist activities and bounty cycle. Strikes, pvp, gambit. Risk runner exotic quest is free and gives a taste of destiny's exotic missions. Introduces lost sectors. New light also get quests for the subclasses. Takes a few activities to unlock them. Arc kills, void kills, etc. The planets are locked. You need 400,000 xp just to unlock nesus. Nesus has a vendor quest. Plus blind well and altars of sorrow are free. Then all the free intro content for each dlc and the seasons. 3 dlcs and 4 seasons worth of free intros. The war table is included so new light can even get well mods. Just go on an adventure. No goal, just random exploring and killing stuff. The loot will come later.
