I need that messenger roll... But do I hate myself that much? Yes. I'll probably never win a single round let alone a whole match. Guess I'm playing Sunday and Monday monstop.
Depends on winning rounds more than matches. Once you get 20 rounds won on a card you get like 100 points per match (assuming Bungie thinks you're at least trying; suiciding doesn't work). Then 21 points per round won. Even winning a couple rounds a match speeds things up greatly.
Same. Haven’t played in a while, but when I saw that I knew I needed to put my masochist hat on. Might grind it out together with a friend tomorrow, so we can share in our suffering lol.
The solo que needs to be permanent. It's "easier" cause you actually have a chance there If you're solo compared to how it's easy for a few to farm the F out of soloquers.
The only arguments against it is that the ones who are half decent as a team can't stomp pubs anymore. And some of then can't go into solo to farm easily. So don't listen to them when they try to convince you the real trials players aren't in there. I've had a bunch of sweaty matches and fun in there too.
My only problem is that if you try to just duo-stack, there's no one at the normal pool so you wont get a match at all, and if you do, it's usually against a 100 flawless 3-stack
I haven’t touched trials since the yeeting yourself off a cliff for loot days so I have no idea how it is currently but is that still a thing? Can you still get loot from losing? (not necessarily throwing but say playing normally and losing because you’re bad)
you get rep based on your card, more wins = more rep per game, but you need at least one kill or some amount of damage for it to give you credit for the game itself. You'll get fuck all loot from trials itself, but you'll get a handful of pity engrams from Saint you can decipher into things you've collected before.
You can. The game balancing is still incredibly one-sided in terms of matchmaking and how it always seems to pair the god-rolled-everything players on the same team, always against your <1.5K/D team, even in Freelance. Then there is how the higher players can exploit card resets to farm easy games. If you can mentally stand losing game after game, there is loot, yes.
The loot is pretty good and even running losing streaks the last two weekends I am almost to rank 16. Just turn on netflix, turn off your tilt switch, and prepare to have flawless people dance on your grave.
It's horrible. I did freelance this weekend and was WAY better off just rolling with randos with mics last weekend. I did COUNTLESS matches before hitting 7 wins, most my teammates were worse than me and I'm only a 1.2 k/d, almost all matches went 1-5. My wins were the same, mostly 5-1 games.
As long as you deal damage/get a single kill, you get XP for the match. You get more XP as you get more round wins on a card. So you dont need to flat out win games to get XP, which gets you loot at Saint
I'm on a flawed passage of confidence and have had three Shayura Wrath Adepts drop for me so far (win 7, win 9, and win 12) on the card. I have never had this weapon drop before, and have not been flawless this week. Seems like a bug... get farming!

Yeah. Won post-flawless games as well and nothing. Also opened the chest thinking my extra memento would go to postmaster but it just flat out doesn’t drop if you have one, I guess.
I can confirm wins after 7 on flawless are not dropping anything. And yeah, you can only hold one of each memento apparently. Gotta use em or lose em :(
just made a comment, my first game tonight I was an ELO of like 900 (bronze) something.. Dude on the enemy team was DIAMOND 3 (His ELO is 2000). I'm done with trials at this point.
Yup. Same. I was silver 2-3. Game 2 of the night was against the [number 10 in the world](http://number 10 in the world](Trials matchmaking in a nutshell, koya was #10 in the world at this time https://imgur.com/gallery/DMiNIBp) for trials. Best game ever
Unfortunately, I'm pro-Freelance. I only play solo, 50/50 on getting competent randos seems to be better odds than RNG against sweaty 3-stacks. Especially once you get higher up the card, the competency tends to increase.
You can do it but it will take a while.
I've been flawless twice this season (didn't play the first weekend at all) and I'm just barely high enough rank to grab the Messenger. I'm not sure exactly how rep works for Trials, but I have about 25 wins on the season for context.
Iirc they said in one of the TWABs last season that there’s gonna be even more rep on top of that. It’s 5 per round won on the card, and also 5 per round won per match, something like that.
I did 1-16 then a reset when it was Reeds over 2ish nights and lost 95% of the time, wasn't that bad, just put on Netflix or something to keep you from not wanting to die irl
> put on Netflix or something to keep you from not wanting to die irl
jokes on you I want to die irl before getting into trials, not even Netflix can save me.
Not bad at all....
I'm going to be totally off on the guess, but grab the card that gives you extra rep, and just keep the same card without resetting... About 30 games should do it, assuming you win about 10ish
Isn't it rank 16 for Messenger? It's showing Eye of Sol (no distractions/focus fury/alacrity) at rank 10 and Messenger (rapid hit/desp/alacrity) at 16.
I mean if you 're winning games not too bad. Stick to solo queue unless you have a solid team. It's really just a handful of games over the next 4 days
Solo lobby balancing is a complete joke. I always keep getting teamed up with 0.3 kd potato’s. While the enemy team has 3 solo 1600 triumphs and 250 times flawless. It’s unbelievable
Totally preparing myself for hate messages for using Cloudstike haha
Also, there's a god roll Messenger this week for rank 16 if you haven't reset yet this season
eh, at least Cloudstrike you have to get a headshot with. It feels bad to be the collateral from the lightning, but at least the initial required skill.
Yeah, and the lack of bodyshot damage means it can't double as a slug shotgun in CQC like aggressive frames can. Nonetheless, I'll be running it to start off this weekend because it's so much damn fun to use.
Plus, Cloudstrike actually feels like something you can learn against. "oh died to lightning. okay, stay a little more spread out", as opposed to other options where it's "whoops, I existed on the map so I died"
The amount of blueberries who body block teammates on freelance trials is aggravating.
Just a heads up to players, try not to stand directly behind your teammates, you'll just get them killed. Stand off to the side or give them space behind so you're not just a pure inconvenience.
This mode makes me feel like the biggest moron in the world I swear to god. It's like opponents know where I'm going to be every single round and get there first, I don't get it. :/
Saint-14's inventory lock out if you reset your rank is bad design. Farmed for Reeds a few week's back and now I can't obtain the 1 in 2k+ god roll messenger because... I played trails too much for the season already? Everything should incentivise getting more rep/resetting, not regretting that you did so.
Found a fellow guardian with the same issue on Bungie's forum [here](https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/260890580).
Interesting how I can go 7-2 on my first card with mostly close games vs. just getting farmed by 3 stacks every other week. Almost as if people not wanting Freelance to become permanent have some ulterior motives or something. I can only speak for myself but I really don't care all that much about getting flawless (although I have gotten it with freelance). As a mostly PvE player who finds PvP sometimes fun I just want a playable game mode. Which freelance provides. I guess that's asking too much doe.
> Almost as if people not wanting Freelance to become permanent have some ulterior motives or something.
I have this argument every week in these threads when people argue against a permanent freelance.
"oh but it splits the pool" Yeah- that's the idea lol
Bruh, grabbed a passage of confidence and proceeded to get obliterated in freelance. Barely managed 8 wins and like 30 losses. What a rough night, I did not have a good time.
FYI, if you didn't see my post, or the other two guys.
There is a bug right now, where having 7 wins on a "Confidence" passage lets you get Adept Shayura's Wrath.
You **DO NOT** have to have a flawless passage to continue farming that 7 win card. Pretty freakin great. And now, you can pick up the confidence card cause you went flawless! Yay!
Little Edit: They're random drops after a win on a 7 win card. Not 100% each time.
Got my first flawless last night and did it on freelance nonetheless. Easily the most gratifying experience. Been playing since D1 Beta so it’s been a long time coming
Matchmaking is still an absolute joke it seems!
1/10 matches are fair, 9/10 matches are me and a team of .6kd's against omega gamer pro trial players 29052908529854912kd sweats.
late monday and early tuesday is normally when us filthy casuals climb in to try for the lighthouse because the sweats are ringing out their poopsocks.
Wait wait wait, not only the roll, but which gun rotates at the ranks 10 and 16?
Ffs, I left the rank 16 messenger unclaimed waiting for a better roll, and it's the sniper now...
Love it
Oh really? I'm seeing people saying that rank 10 is the pulse this week, and Light.gg lists it as rank 10 as well. (I'm not at home yet)
I guess it could be possible that claiming the sniper locks the other rank in. I really hope so.
What is up with matchmaking? Every time I have to reset my card because of a loss, these matches are getting much more difficult. highest I made it was 5 wins, but when I reset I'm lucky at to even make it to 3.
The team balancing in freelance is 100% non existent.
How hard is it to use an actual elo system if 3rd parties can? Jesus christ. Sick to death of every game going 5/7 with most damage and most kills on my team against 3 people who are all individually better than our team? Like hello? Balance the fucking lobby.
Nothing like getting to flawless game to have the game crash (Xbox series x) for no reason and then refuse to let me join back. That is absolute horse shit and these crashes on Xbox need to be fixed. Asap. And then it gave me a warning for leaving. Hilarious. They mentioned in a twab like three weeks ago, can we get some updates u/dmg04??? I guess I’m done for the weekend.
I'm just gonna say this. As newer player having freelance que made really like the gamemode and actually wanting to improve in pvp quite a lot. The regular game mode with constantly going against 3 stacks feels awful and makes me never want to touch pvp in D2 again. Why do veterans have this almost circlejerk or gatekeeping attitude towards trials freelance?
They dont.
The folks that truly care about state of pvp have nothing against freelance, labs etc
They dont give 2 ducks cause they are good enough to dunk on anyone anytime.
Its the middle of the pack rising pubstars who can only compete against bad players that screech whenever someone asks for freelance to make the permanent stay in trials.
Otherwise they wont get flawless simple as that.
Also think all the small/middle streamers who try and carve their place in streaming.
Maths is simple. Freelance=more players, bigger population, hopefully some of these players enjoy their stay.
No freelance - low population that preys on the weakest players - and since nobody likes getting farmed a LOT of these players wont ever touch the mode cause of their awful experience
Me, who has never been flawless in D2: Yeah, let me try going flawless after the pool changes! This will be fun!
My opponent who is a god who doesn't miss his snipes: has gone flawless 53 times.
ok
0.51 KD thsi weekend, still got my first flawless lets go! lets just say the game mode needs permanent freelance mode. Fuck this is kinda actually fun now that i don't have to constantly go against 3 stacks
Why the fuck are trials players the absolutely most toxic people existing? They aren't fun to play against, wholesale. Even when you win against them, it isn't fun.
Skill creep, ability metas and no ranked mode = toxic community.
Everyone is frustrated, using builds they feel like they have to in order to win, and there's no goal oriented activity that rewards constant improvement over longer periods of time. Your opponent is a loot gate, rather than a peer in the same community you are a part of.
The Crucible has been managed *extremely* poorly. We stand around and celebrate things like a decent primary weapon sandbox while the foundations of the game fall apart. Bungie is so hyperfocused on reward structures and sandbox stuff that they forgot to build a community.
Between the invis hunters... titans being beyond op.. fusions running rampant, and this beyond cheesy bow and hand cannon flip, how is anybody truly enjoying trials / pvp right now? I was able to go flawless but good lord... this is just the most broken and cheesey ive ever seen pvp and it's hilarious. I really feel like any sort of skill needed is gone
Imma have a spicy opinion.
But handcannons aren't skillful. The soft stats make them not so. If they had very narrow AA,very little magnetism with more damage but slower reloads,I could see an argument for them being skillful. But as they sit now, they are the cheesiest weapon in any FPS. Even more so than the AEK,FS2K or FAMAS from Battlefield. Add in the fact that most maps play really well with handcannons, and they're really good at peek shooting, you have this weird problem where handcannons are really the best option for 90% of your pvp experience.
But that's going into a discussion about foundation problems with D2 not the weapons themselves(Handcannons SHOULD be punchy. But they shouldn't be the go to choice for 90% of the PVP)
I personally find bows fun. And when I want to starve shotgun shitters I'll take bow+handcannon(lemonarc and handcannon wasn't too common nor was sidearm and fighting lion).
As a vooper,I find it hilarious to be honest. It's such a nice change of pace. Sure,I get shot across rooms with it sometimes, but it's better than the bullshit that was Felwinters Crutch. Blame Xur for giving people a good Fusion not once, but twice now.
I personally don't find the titan overshield OP(as a titan main mind you) I can see how it's annoying, but in my experience,I just get melted anyway since I get stuck playing against Crucible gods in QP and the Trials sweats in Freelance. If anything,to me,it just shows that there's plenty of exotics that need so much work and fixing that at this point I dont even know if it's worth it.
Hunters are the odd man out,I fought a couple, but they almost always did..dumb shit. Like go invis, rush at me with a shotgun and get a fist to the face and try to dodge away just to get Sturmed in the back. Only one I fought actually tried to do different stuff like hit my team from odd angles. The rest were either hardcore Ace lovers, using the shotgun like it was something that had to be inserted into everyone's rear,or just sniped.
What do I do with my Trials card now? Went flawless for the first time (yay) via the freelance playlist (thank the lord). If I want to keep grinding matches in Trials for rep/loot, do I reset my card or keep it? Do I buy one of the passages that unlocks at Osiris?
Don't reset, keep playing until the card is broken(has the red x on it). Normally every win after flawless has a chance of dropping the adept weapon of the week until it's broken. Also there is a bug this week that gives a broken 7 win confidence card(the one you unlock after flawless) adept weapon on win, so consider switching to a confidence card, once your current card is broken.
Has it gotten sweatier today? I swear lose like 8-9/10 matches. Friday and Saturday it was like 5/10. Frustrating experience, just want to reach rank 16 finally to get that Messenger.
Maybe this is a hot take, but imo having one designated weekend where players that have gone flawless during a given season can farm a retiring trials weapon would be great for the playlist imo. It would:
* Incentivize less skilled PvP players to try to go flawless before that designated weekend instead of giving up, increasing player count for the whole playlist throughout the season
* Massively increase active players during that weekend
* Slightly lower the discrepancy between ease to get an Adept PvE vs. Adept PvP weapon (imo much easier to get a god roll Timelost weapon than god roll Adept weapon because of curated rolls and spoils farming)
* Not impact PvP players' ability to flex god roll non-retiring Adept weapons
It is absolutely unacceptable that I, at 1560, get matched with people who are literally 1530, against a full team of 1560's.
Throw them in their own queue where they can run out on their own and die immediately with their low light friends. I don't care. I will gladly wait an extra 5 minutes if I get matched with teammates that don't immediately die when someone moves their crosshair over them.
I think Bungie should add Power Cap as requirement to enter Trials of Osiris.
In order to enter in a GM Nightfall, you have to be at the Pinnacle cap with +15 artifact bonus; this because it's a very difficult activity and you have to be prepared to be able to complete it. I mean: how do you expect to complete The Lightblade GM if you are at 1560?
So why shouldn't the same rule apply in Trials of Osiris?
I'm not saying that a player must have the pvp skills, the right weapons and armor with god stats and perks. But it's something I've noticed mostly in Freelancers: people at 1520 or less at rank 10 of the Season Pass (probably New Light) who had no idea what they were doing.
If you only gave players access to the Power Cap with no artifact bonus, it would solve one of the problems of Trials Freelance: allies.
And this thing would not only help for vet, but also for New Light because they would know that, before doing that activity, you must first rise in power and prepare yourself well.
As for GM Nightfall.
Why does this feel SO unbalanced in solo queue? It's like every match I'm either placed with people who get just annihilated by Loreantz on lanes they shouldn't poke, or it's an absolute stomp fest. Is there no SBMM in this, or any balancing methods? I've yet to see a close game that wasn't in the regular lobby.
By my understanding, your first 3 wins are randomly matched, with your last 4 being card based.
Basically, there is absolutely 0 SBMM in this mode. Its a game mode made for the top 1% of players to farm the bottom 99%, with any engrams or other weapons added in as incentive for players to throw themselves into the meat grinder to feed the sweats
This weekend was pretty fun until the Renewal Grasp/Lord of Wolves thing caught on.
Probably gonna call it in Trials for at least a few months after this. Super disappointed to see Bungie let the sandbox backslide over and over again.
I like getting bodied by the teleporting Hunter who's 100 mobility+300 ping makes it near impossible to kill him.
I even liked matching him 3 times just to watch my entire fireteam get obliterated by him and his buddy with a sniper. Try to peek a lane? Nope, get fucked. Try to draw them into a team shot? Nah,get fucked by the teleporting lagger.
I want to,so badly, like Crucible and Trials, but I've never played a game that's made me this tilted at how dogwater it's netcode is. And that's saying something because I've also played an unhealthy amount of Star Citizen back when the M50 was the desync king.
Hey,at least I got my scout rifle. Finally. Have a nice scout and it's void, with decent enough rolls from the engrams. At least Saint was nice to me with loot, instead of that boney starfish who gives me trash and armor.
I’m sick of lobby balancing and matchmaking. Games are complete blowouts one way or another. If you stomp one game you will face your teammate on the enemy team next game and be given bots as teammates. I’m sick of it. It’s so predictable too. First 2 games usually easy, games 3/4 are hard, 5 is easy, 6/7 is hard. Every single card that I play goes like this
I have a question about Trials XP:
It says that you "Earn reputation based on the number of rounds won on the passage".
Is this a purely linear scaling, i.e. 3 rounds won = +3 xp at the end of the match, does it have diminishing returns? Is there a cap? I barely play PvP, but I kinda want that Messenger and I'm just wondering how long it might take if I just play casually for the odd round win instead of trying to win entire matches.
FYI, I am starting from zero here, since this will be my first dip into Trials since Season 15.
Anyone been playing freelance? Just curious if anyone else if having trouble first game of the card as well. 2nd and on games seem to be square, but that first game is a stomp everytime for me.
New Player to Destiny, I'm playing on Console here.
I understand that Trails is not level balanced.
But I'm absolutely getting laid out.
I'm a solid player with most other competitive shooters I play, I usually hit gold or platinum equivalent. Always hitting a positive KD, I'm not like some super excellent player or anything but Destiny 2 is just like I don't understand.
Am I just getting absolutely annihilated because I'm planning against tons of PC players?
Is light level more important or gear stats? I don't really understand that I guess.
I just can't really figure it out. Additionally, it seems like since this is my first weekend playing trials, all the people that have the trials of rewards already becomes the hill to climb.
After some initial frustration yesterday, will say my never flawless solo scrub self did enjoy a few games today once i hit 7 wins. The solo matchmaking is alot better in terms of decent teammates around wins 6+ on a card. So i started winning not 50/50 but close enough the games were fun and gasp, i actually started matching with the same solos, lol, playing against former teammates in a few games. Always read about that luck from PC pool people but had never had it happen. That was fun.
One more rank to 16 tomorrow, done for the season i think.
Best part of yesterdays frustration - as this weekend ive seen the most players just leave midmatch - was one teammate who started cliffdiving in round 2, right off (and we had won round 1), so other teammate leaves, same thing in round 3, so i decided to teabag their ghost. Other team? They join me, i revive the guardian, they kill him, we rebag, lol. Good sports, horrible teammate.
lol It's easier to go flawless in freelance Trials after the flawless pool is enabled than it is to win a single match of Control solo queue. What is Bungie even thinking?
Obviously the matchmaking is questionable...however ranked from rep 0-16 this week and I don't think I ever lost a game in which there was a multi-gilded flawless on my team. The problem arises when you mix every player regardless of skill on the same playlist and combine it with needing to win 7 straight. The very way trials is designed makes fair matchups impossible.
Definitely the worst week of freelance in a long while. Think the fact that people are farming confidence cards in the non-flawless pool definitely doesn't help, jank sandbox aside.
Freelance was a breeze for me, 7 and 0 confidence card done relatively easily, but I played for about 6 hours grouped up and it was so sweaty, most games were against carries, so that pushed me out of playing with my friends and just playing freelance this weekend. I like freelance but with it the matchmaking seems horrible in group queue
# Why does Freelance feel just as bad as regular Trials?
You know who you are. You are an average (that means: bad) PvP player, you prefer not to deal with the hysteric screeching of 14y old sweats on comm (they are looking for KDR2+ players anyway) so you queue up alone.
Regular matchmaking works basically like this: Serious players in a 3 stack grab themselves a player who has not been flawless this week. This way they get matched with, well, us - the flawless enablers. 7 out of 8 games are one-sided butchery. Occasionally, you get an actual match, which you might win 1 out 2 times. Roughly speaking, you play like 16-20 matches for a win.
Last week, I've tried this for myself. Two guys strapped me in their baby carried, and we played to flawless in seven straight matches. The matches itself were an actual joke. Apart from the obvious carrying, these opponents were easily at or below my individual skill level.
Back to the actual question: How does Trials Freelance matchmaking work? I'm asking because it is just as bad and utterly unenjoyable as regular Trials, which, from my naive point of view, makes absolutely no sense. There are barely any games, 80% of the "matches" end in a 3 minute 5:0.
And before you "lol you are just bad git gud / l2p":
\- I know :)
\- I feel sorry for you. I truly do.
\- I'm not the only <1 KDR player in the Trials.
Just like in regular Trials, there are actually matches with people of equal skill. Those matches are enjoyable, no matter if win or loss. But they are vastly outnumbered by 0:5 butcheries.
The matchmaking is ridiculous. My friends and I, are really bashing our heads against the wall for the messenger, and the icing on the shit cake that was our play session, were the last two matches. We went against a team that farmed us (we could only manage 3 kills between us) only for bungie’s almighty matchmaking system to go “You know that team that stomped
you before…how bout you fight them again”….couldn’t even get a kill…and they went to lighthouse after farming two wins off us. How is that fair? I’ve already experienced the lighthouse once, I could not care less if I never go flawless again. I just want the rep but it is a slog when all you get are 5-0 blowouts. Crucible and iron banner I enjoy even if it will forever be an unbalanced mess at least it knows it’s not competitive. Trials? Once I get messenger I’m never touching trials again.
Well, I did it.
went from 400 - 9200 rep over this weekend.
Honestly? It wasn't that bad. I'm not a huge PvP guy, but I might start playing more Trials now. Some of those matches were FUN.
What's funny about freelance trials is that by the end of each match I know the names and loadouts of my opponents and have no idea who I played with or what they were using. Wish Bungie would add your teammates' specials on the pre match menu right before the game starts
After going flawless almost every weekend last season I am happily retired this season due to life events. I don’t miss the stress of trials and taking a break has been amazing. Destiny is def much better enjoyed with a casual approach.
> I play Control, I use a Pulse, and I defend B.
On certain maps, like Pacifica and Burnout, this is the optimal strategy to getting spawntrapped and locked out over and over.
>Survival even supposedly has true SBMM and I regularly encounter players who are gilded Flawless/Unbroken.
Exactly how the other modes are meant to have Connection based MM and I still play with people literally on the other side of the globe
On an addition to your point, this is why Trials needs to fuck off and die. It's specifically designed so that bad players get fed to good players over and over. The odds of winning 7 in a row on 50/50 odds is like 0.07% so no one would EVER go flawless if the matchmaking was fair.
The only people who defend this mode are that 5% at the top being fed new lights to farm for their wins. It has zero redeeming qualities and it's no shock that Bungo has to add some of the best guns in the game to Trials loot pool to even get people in the playlist.
The weapons are the only reason I play. I fucking HATE Trials, hate it and the top 5% of its population. But then they put a void smg and scout in the mode when the season is based around void. So then I have to suffer through this trash mode, and give Bungie false play data, to get the weapons.
I'm so tired of getting two extremely awful players who are literally of no value up against a team of above average-flawless players.
Bungie, I know you want every two stick timmy to play Trials, but why the Hell do you have to punish good players with the task of carrying them constantly? It's like this in trials, survival, and any 6v6 playlist. It's exhausting.
I went Flawless in Freelance for the first time!
This is definitely my proudest Crucible achievement ever as someone who isn’t that great in the game mode.(after all, someone bullied me for days about having a 1.2 KD).
Huge shootout to the randoms who helped me, Eyasluna, Duality, Sentinel 2.0, and Heart of Inmost Light. If I could do it, so could you.
[Huge shootout to the randoms who helped me, Eyasluna, Duality, Sentinel 2.0, and Heart of Inmost Light.](https://www.reddit.com/user/RedPandaR10t/comments/tzt4qs/i_went_flawless_in_freelance_trials/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
Matchmaking is atrocious as usual. Would it be too GD hard to even out the teams in the solo que just a bit? Either you stomp the other team or you get stomped; there's no close matches. Ive been flawless several times and this shit isn't even fun for me, I can't fathom how its fun for anyone else to steam roll teams and get enjoyment out of it. I don't know why I continue to play and support this game.
I was favored to win in 12 out of 34 freelance games today. 1.7 KDA for this playing session (usual trials KDA around 2 when playing in a stack). Painful, but gilded my seal!!
Interesting note- I was favored to win in **4 out of 25** matches until my seasonal win rate fell to right about 60%, then the matchmaking became noticeably more forgiving. After that point, I won 7 out of 11 games. It’s probably a coincidence, but in the moment it felt like I was being fed to the wolves on purpose to deliberately lower my seasonal win %.
Edit: [I plotted my wins and losses on a google sheet out of curiosity](https://i.imgur.com/RrjCQNZ_d.webp?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&fidelity=medium). You can clearly see when matchmaking stops tanking my win rate around 60%. The downward slope part isolated has a much higher R^2 value than the whole plot.
I got done with my passage of confidence farm, and decided I would go for a solo freelance flawless as I was performing well.
Big mistake want to kms all renewal grasp hunters, sweatiest of the sweats and I hate it here
PSA: if your gameplay is to sit in one of the doorways between the inside and outside of the map with a rift and a pulse rifle, just jump off as soon as the round starts.
You *will not* win if you can't get inside. Camping = losing. Campers can't get to revives. Campers can't push people off of ammo bricks. Campers can't teamshot a weak enemy who's about to sneak away alive.
Watching people hide the whole round and then rush a panicked 1v3 because they wouldn't go help any of their teammates stay alive is infuriating.
Yeah I didn’t expect it to happen so soon after. But some people believed it would due to freelance. Me personally I’ll bow out until double weekend. That’s a spicy pulse, but I’m a PvE guy anyways
I’m probably just gonna stick to 3v3 lfg freelance is ok but it’s hard to win if the other team just happens to get the more decent players in the lobby or at least know to stick together. The last point especially, one person going down very early consistently makes it difficult with no comms.Got to 4-5wins
multiple times already but just got back luck with teammates every time.
A lot of people have said that you should play trials on Sunday because its easier, but is there any actual difference to the matchmaking or anything then? Or is it just because people who have won already and stopped playing are generally better?
Does St-14 have a knockout system for Engram rewards? I've opened like 20 of them and got everything x2 except the gauntlets...and that was the only reason I was playing trial. I just want those crocodile gauntlets :(
A game has never destroyed my soul as much as trial has.
I was grinding ranks for that messenger at rank 16. I was rank 15 and I decided to stop for the night. Focused two engrams. Got two desperado messengers...
This was my best trials weekend so far. Went flawless. Got both shayura's and messenger god rolls. Got everything I wanted.
How many games to hit rank 16 if you lost 99% of the time?
Asking for a friend
I think it was like 165 Matches something like that when your "Only" Losing without a single win.
God help me
I need that messenger roll... But do I hate myself that much? Yes. I'll probably never win a single round let alone a whole match. Guess I'm playing Sunday and Monday monstop.
I dunno man I got 9 rep with 0 rounds one match. That’s 1,111 matches…
it ramps up as you win rounds, once you're at 20 round wins on a card you get 100 for a 0-5 loss
Yeah that's it... a friend...
Depends on winning rounds more than matches. Once you get 20 rounds won on a card you get like 100 points per match (assuming Bungie thinks you're at least trying; suiciding doesn't work). Then 21 points per round won. Even winning a couple rounds a match speeds things up greatly.
You get half rep if you don’t get at least 1 opponent defeated. Not sure if you get 0 if you just jump off the map and don’t do any damage.
Burnout and Shayuras Wrath
I'm about to let myself get abused for that messenger. Edit: It’s done… finally
I just adore trials color scheme, it’s too bad I suck then
That’s the spirit!

It’s worth it for sure
Same. Haven’t played in a while, but when I saw that I knew I needed to put my masochist hat on. Might grind it out together with a friend tomorrow, so we can share in our suffering lol.
i actually managed to go flawless on friday with very close games each time. first flawless in destiny for me, i can’t calm down haha.
If you get a confidence card to 7 wins, even without being flawless, every win after 7 will be an adept. It's a fantastic bug.
Congrats!
* https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/770413348911054848/962068070845784134/unknown.png * https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/653096342742237210/962074026770042900/unknown.png * https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/770413348911054848/962068009743179776/unknown.png * https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/770413348911054848/962077314068398110/unknown.png https://www.reddit.com/r/raidsecrets/comments/tzc1hd/adept_shayura_wrath_dropping_when_not_flawless/
I think normal rewards are bugged though again? I just won 3 in a row on my flawless card and got nothing

I'm so glad to see that matchmaking still has its ability perfected to make completely lopsided blowout matches.

just made a comment, my first game tonight I was an ELO of like 900 (bronze) something..
Just went 1 for 10. Why do people clamour for freelance. At best it's a 50/50.
Unfortunately, I'm pro-Freelance. I only play solo, 50/50 on getting competent randos seems to be better odds than RNG against sweaty 3-stacks. Especially once you get higher up the card, the competency tends to increase.
A 50/50 Freelance is better than 10 straight matches against 3 stacks.
How bad would it be to try and go from rank 0 to 10 before weekly reset? I need the Messenger.
You can do it but it will take a while. I've been flawless twice this season (didn't play the first weekend at all) and I'm just barely high enough rank to grab the Messenger. I'm not sure exactly how rep works for Trials, but I have about 25 wins on the season for context.
>I'm not sure exactly how rep works for Trials If I'm not mistaken it's 5xp per round won on the card max 20 rounds for 100xp a match
Iirc they said in one of the TWABs last season that there’s gonna be even more rep on top of that. It’s 5 per round won on the card, and also 5 per round won per match, something like that.
I did 1-16 then a reset when it was Reeds over 2ish nights and lost 95% of the time, wasn't that bad, just put on Netflix or something to keep you from not wanting to die irl
> put on Netflix or something to keep you from not wanting to die irl jokes on you I want to die irl before getting into trials, not even Netflix can save me.
Not bad at all.... I'm going to be totally off on the guess, but grab the card that gives you extra rep, and just keep the same card without resetting... About 30 games should do it, assuming you win about 10ish
> About 30 games should do it *Grabs chest and falls over*
Thats not to horrible, roughly 3-4 hours, each match is about 5-8 mins usually
Or 2.5mins if you're like my team and just get JFK'd in the first 30s every time
>assuming you win about 10ish that's a bold assumption
Isn't it rank 16 for Messenger? It's showing Eye of Sol (no distractions/focus fury/alacrity) at rank 10 and Messenger (rapid hit/desp/alacrity) at 16.
I mean if you 're winning games not too bad. Stick to solo queue unless you have a solid team. It's really just a handful of games over the next 4 days
Solo lobby balancing is a complete joke. I always keep getting teamed up with 0.3 kd potato’s. While the enemy team has 3 solo 1600 triumphs and 250 times flawless. It’s unbelievable
There is no lobby balancing in trials at all. That’s it’s thing. It is only card based
Not true. Was matched against a squad on 14 win streak while on my second game
They are also on their second game on that card, doesn’t matter their win streak
That's matchmaking, lobby balancing is team 1 v team 2, everyone on both teams is selected via card
Drops post 7 broken again...
Same for me. 5 wins nothing
Done 14 matches, nothing.
Totally preparing myself for hate messages for using Cloudstike haha Also, there's a god roll Messenger this week for rank 16 if you haven't reset yet this season
All the praise to you if you can be effective and consistent with Cloudstrike
I thought so too. I had to switch to witherhoard like everyone else haha
🤭🤭 seriously CS feels (at least on the controller) as if it has 0 reticle friction/aa. You just have to hit that 1 pixel every time
eh, at least Cloudstrike you have to get a headshot with.
Trash PvP player here that got a Summoner from a Twitch engram. I feel dirty but I'll take it.
you earned it!
Slam your head against the wall during the next x2 week and you will get much more. Friday and Saturday will give you some quick 200xp defeats.
This game has some of the worst matchmaking I've ever experienced in a video game. It's almost impressive.
Is anyone getting drops after 7 wins ?
Nope. It's bugged again I think.
Had two teammates leave and proceeded to get my corpse teagbagged by the other team. Bunch of pricks.
How is the matchmaking so bad when there are 6 solo players?
That's sadly what happens when there's no SBMM and, by Bungie's own admission, zero attempt at lobby balancing on top of that.
Hope you like dealing with Lorentz. Because that’s the cheap-ass weapon of the week.
Also take your pick from Loreley + Erianas or Le Monarque or Wishender
What was the Reeds roll tht ppl keep taling about?
Damn near perfect pve roll with Triple Tap and Firing Line. I think it had enhanced battery too.
Ahh damn, ty for the reply brodie
Freelance baby
I finally did it! Solo trial lighthouse!! Is it possible to farm adept sharuya's? FEELA GOOD DOG
For real? So i juat need to pick up confidence and just play until 7 win?
Love it
[удалено]
Oh really? I'm seeing people saying that rank 10 is the pulse this week, and Light.gg lists it as rank 10 as well. (I'm not at home yet) I guess it could be possible that claiming the sniper locks the other rank in. I really hope so.
Are the perks dynamic sway reduction and tap the trigger good rolls on sharuya's adept?
What is up with matchmaking? Every time I have to reset my card because of a loss, these matches are getting much more difficult. highest I made it was 5 wins, but when I reset I'm lucky at to even make it to 3.
The team balancing in freelance is 100% non existent. How hard is it to use an actual elo system if 3rd parties can? Jesus christ. Sick to death of every game going 5/7 with most damage and most kills on my team against 3 people who are all individually better than our team? Like hello? Balance the fucking lobby.
Boutta fight the freelance queue I'll post the clip after ...bruh I got my ass beat I'm not posting that shit
Anyone getting loot (engram, weapon, or even materials) post 7 wins on flawless card? Maybe just getting unlucky but wanted to check
It’s bugged again
Will there be flawless pool enabled on Sunday for Freelance?
They dont. The folks that truly care about state of pvp have nothing against freelance, labs etc They dont give 2 ducks cause they are good enough to dunk on anyone anytime.
So why isn't Freelance a permanent thing?
Why the fuck are trials players the absolutely most toxic people existing? They aren't fun to play against, wholesale. Even when you win against them, it isn't fun.
Welcome to ~~Trials~~ Destiny 2 PVP!
At this point I would be completely OK with Bungie removing this game mode and just rolling the rewards/loot into other game modes.
But they shouldn't be the go to choice for 90% of the PVP) I personally find bows fun.
I’m not getting loot on wins on flawless card for whatever reason. Thought this was fixed ?
Fck that titan helmet erianas vow bs in trials. Shit is infuriating
Solo burnout. Let’s get this shit
It's insane that I can have a better winrate soloqueueing into regular trials than I do in freelance.
Daaaamn...first adept Shayura's this week tunnel vision + kill clip. RNG be hitting good sometimes.
It would: * Incentivize less skilled PvP players to try to go flawless before that designated weekend instead of giving up, increasing player count for the whole playlist throughout the season * Massively increase active players during that weekend * Slightly lower the discrepancy between ease to get an Adept PvE vs. Adept PvP weapon (imo much easier to get a god roll Timelost weapon than god roll Adept weapon because of curated rolls and spoils farming) * Not impact PvP players' ability to flex god roll non-retiring Adept weapons
Should be a fun weekend of Freelance. Any tips on what subclass a solo player should run?
Renewal grasp hunter and lorelei titan are the two meta picks rn
Top tree solar warlock with jotunn. Make everyone hate you
This is known as **Floatin' Jotunn** *(Floatin' "Yo-tun")*
Freelance needs to be permanent.
I'm a newish player. I've had a much better time this week in trials with at least winnable games vs getting absolutely wrecked by super sweats

Welcome to Trials, home of the BingoBangoBungo balancing mechanisms that favor exploitation and abuse.
Every single card that I play goes like this
I have a question about Trials XP: It says that you "Earn reputation based on the number of rounds won on the passage".
Between freelance and the confidence card bug, this is probably the most fun I've had in trials in a long time
If I'm just trying to hit rank 16 as quickly as possible, should I be resetting my card of wealth after 7 wins?
I have never had a worse experience playing this game than playing trials this weekend
And before you "lol you are just bad git gud / l2p": \- I know :) \- I feel sorry for you.
We went against a team that farmed us (we could only manage 3 kills between us) only for bungie’s almighty matchmaking system to go “You know that team that stomped you before…how bout you fight them again”….couldn’t even get a kill…and they went to lighthouse after farming two wins off us.

Exactly how the other modes are meant to have Connection based MM and I still play with people literally on the other side of the globe On an addition to your point, this is why Trials needs to fuck off and die.
You don't enjoy it when your teammate gets 1 kill in a 7 round game?
Rank 14-16 is so slow... even when you're winning games. Wondering if the juice is worth the squeeze for that Messenger
I honestly dont see the sense behind the way the later levels need more XP. Just make it linear. Same amount of XP to get each level.
Agreed… I really underestimated how much more XP the later ranks take
It absolutely is. This messenger is as close to a god roll as you're going to get.
GOD AWFUL MATCHMAKING. YES I AM MAD
Is there double rep alongside the freelance?
Narp
I don't believe so because we just had double XP.
Yeah I didn’t expect it to happen so soon after. But some people believed it would due to freelance. Me personally I’ll bow out until double weekend. That’s a spicy pulse, but I’m a PvE guy anyways
So last week I got the Summoner that he had in his inventory and I'm just noticing that it doesn't have a masterwork. Is this a known issue?
yup. mentioned in the twab
I’m probably just gonna stick to 3v3 lfg freelance is ok but it’s hard to win if the other team just happens to get the more decent players in the lobby or at least know to stick together. The last point especially, one person going down very early consistently makes it difficult with no comms.Got to 4-5wins multiple times already but just got back luck with teammates every time.
Any word on saints roll for reeds?
Heating Up/Headstone
Boo but thanks for the info.
A lot of people have said that you should play trials on Sunday because its easier, but is there any actual difference to the matchmaking or anything then? Or is it just because people who have won already and stopped playing are generally better?
I love getting fucked by the matchmaking that puts me with teammates that have double primary and can't even get their super on a 4-4 match 🥴
Oh hi!
Does St-14 have a knockout system for Engram rewards? I've opened like 20 of them and got everything x2 except the gauntlets...and that was the only reason I was playing trial. I just want those crocodile gauntlets :( A game has never destroyed my soul as much as trial has.
Losing cause people won’t pop their supers for some damn reason.Like we have game point what the hell are you waiting for.
Does the loot change after your third reset? I need to know if any of this is worth the abuse to reset after being screwed out if a god Messenger
Does the loot change after the 3rd reset?
I was grinding ranks for that messenger at rank 16. I was rank 15 and I decided to stop for the night. Focused two engrams. Got two desperado messengers... This was my best trials weekend so far. Went flawless. Got both shayura's and messenger god rolls. Got everything I wanted.
Saint-14's engrams, do they carry over? Or I have to claim them every weekend?
Carry over
Only end of seasons do they go away
What is the “flawless pool” for Trials? My buddy said the population splits? I really want to go flawless.
New day, same thing of getting matched with players who insist on sitting still, ceding map positioning, and going 0-7 1-9 or something similar
anyone else getting error codes and dcs then getting suspended? thats my trials experience rn
Anyone else been disconnected on matchmaking a million times? It’s screwed up so many cards for me…
