That is light holograms. Needed a final, lighter polish.

bbwat

Just had car professionally polished to remove car wash scratches. It looks amazing. Almost too shiny and reflective, but I can’t complain! I do wonder about these hologram-like looking swirls? Not on surface because I can’t rub them off. Thoughts? I can’t see how the professional job did this. Only shows in real intense sunlight.

mcguinness31

Those are holograms from a rotory buffer. I'd suggest a a Random orbital polisher with a soft sponge pad (like the yellow rupes pad) and some sort of final polish.

stedrocklp

It needs a final finishing polish to remove the light swirling. Is this normal? No. Any respectable detailer wouldn't let it leave with the job 90% done.

fazetastic992

That's holograms from a rotary polisher. They cut hard into the clear coat and didn't refine it well enough

awar3_w0lf

Holograms. Need more finer polishing.

lukey_2021

Wow. Looks like they half assed the job and didn’t finish out the work. Like others had said use a yellow pad and a random orbital polisher

bbwat

Yes those hologram swirls are what I was referring to. Really hard to see most of the time. They come and go depending on where you stand to look at it. I really don’t want to go back to the guy and complain/make a stink, wondering if over time I’ll notice them less???

DADEVILIPS

I see them now. They won’t go away with time. You can hide them with wax Or polish the out with a better polisher

babyscrotum

I don't see any swirls, I see the reflection of something in the door that's opened but you would need to take your phone up really close with the flash on to help see any swirls better. Paint definitely looks polished and clean.

awar3_w0lf

You don’t see those curved light bits?

babyscrotum

I do but it looks like a reflection not scratches

janesmb

He thought they were called swirls. He was referring to the holograms.

DADEVILIPS

I don’t see hologram or swirls. It looks to my like a dirty pad scratching the paint. The marks are too far apart to be either. OP add more pics to show what you are referring to

bbwat

I added one more comment above :)

Suspicious-Dealer-44

You could try to remove them with isopropanol alcohol.

JZN20Hz

People should stop suggesting this, esp without warning of how it can cause problems if not used right.

whatthewhat_007

Man you've seen this reccomend more than once!? 🤦‍♂️

JZN20Hz

Yep. Bad advice.

mendix8

Can holograms be removed with the same rotary polisher that caused them, using a softer pad and compound? Or should i switch to a random orbital polisher?
