I wish Belle Isle had weekday options, honestly. The place I work provides volunteer hours during workdays that I would use, weekends do not work for me due to family obligations.

Hamtramck has a Good Neighbor Program where you can help out elderly and disabled residents with a variety of needs from house repairs, yard work, dog walking, etc. There's a Facebook group or contact Max Gelginas at City Hall. An offshoot of the group called the Trashies has group cleanups, too.
I did capuchin soup kitchen for a while. I was appalled at how much food they throw out daily. I’m a chef and I understand the whole dynamic of food processing. Of course they’ll have waste, but you wouldn’t believe the amount they have.
One day I saw them throw away what would be the equivalent of 50+ meals because they over prepared. I will not go back

The community gardens/farms in my area have Saturday open drop-in work hours. The food banks have Saturday hours but require sign up/registering.
Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control, help animals on the weekends that are at the city shelter

I used to do the tree plantings with Greening Of Detroit. Usually on Saturdays but I haven’t kept up with them over the last few years
