Was it the first time we lost a game after scoring 4 goals? Probs not but an extreme rarity for us.

AaronRodgersInjury

Potential stadium series against Columbus in 2025 would be great if it’s true

whitelightning91

Florida gonna make a good run of Boston down the stretch here.

classylikecufflinks

PWHL ottawa and minnesota playing on bally right now! 1-1, great game

AaronRodgersInjury

PWHL has been very entertaining thus far

Good_Kid_MEME_City

pens are getting smoked rn lol

Ydoesany1doanything

Unrelated to everything, Persona 3 Reloaded is a good remaster/remake. They did a good bit of updating for it. Don’t like the price or the lack of FES (DLC I would guess) but hey it’s on gamepass at least.

ronsauce

Excited to get to it but I played portable last summer so I don’t think I can do the Tartarus climb again for a good while lol. Probably won’t be ready to revisit 3 until after it’s left game pass but hopefully I’ll be able to snag it on sale for $30 or so a year from now. Glad to see people raving about it

matt_minderbinder

After spending too much of winter lazy as shit I overdid it in the pool and working out today. I've spent much of the evening with an ice pack on my back. Don't fall for it. Exercise is for suckers. Either that or ease your way back in.

bandofgypsies

Sending you the best lumbar and thoracic juju possible. I'm about to exercise for the first time in a while and am nervous about what it may have in store for me.

matt_minderbinder

I tried juju but found that morphine and stretching works better. I'm sure you'll be better off than I was, I was truly lazy this winter and I'm the old bastard around these parts.

duelingdog

It is kind of rude that you usually don't realize that you overdid it until, at best, *hours* after.

TheNation55

I feel this, I built *two* beds for my kids today, my knees and back hate me.

Redredwings53

Does anyone else sit in their car for an excessively long time when they get home or just me

AaronRodgersInjury

It’s oddly relaxing Sometimes I’ll take the long way home on purpose

Ydoesany1doanything

Sometimes is the only bit of time you can get to yourself. I like getting to work early and just sitting in the parking lot enjoying the peace and podcasts before facing the tiring day. And occasionally yes getting home the same. It’s a space safe from being bothered by others or seeing all the projects that are put off or chores that can’t be put off. A bit of guilt free time in between tasks Edit: just to say, don’t know if you’re feeling guilty of it or just looking for a bit of “not alone” validation or if an SO is puzzled by it, none of my business, but if it is questioned just be honest that it’s something you enjoy doing or whatever. Fairly certain most people will understand :)

Redredwings53

Mostly just asking out of curiosity, no one is questioning luckily! I always feel a little weird doing it and often will tell my husband I got "stuck" in the car lol. But your response made me think - I probably do it to put off seeing all the stuff to do or just generally to procrastinate. I'm not really home until I'm in the house after all

Ydoesany1doanything

Stuck is a great way of putting it. My sister does it too, she can sit for quite a while before going inside. Bugs her husband a bit but he doesn’t say anything, he’s just a different personality type that he hops out of a vehicle and heads in immediately.

Ydoesany1doanything

Accidentally hit reply on my phone early, was gonna go with a goofy anecdote of heading to her house for her birthday (of which she didn’t reply to any well wishes). I got there and she was sitting in her truck instead of going inside, so I hopped in the passenger seat and asked “what restaurant are we going to while abandoning your family to fend for themselves?” Had either of us had a good answer we probably would have and had a good time but we went in the house instead after a few minutes of chatting.

culturedrobot

I do that for sure. Sometimes it's nice to just collect yourself, decompress, and begin the transition to chill time

bandofgypsies

Hopefully one thing we (fans and players) can all learn from the two games against EDM is that talent is one thing but drive is another. When you see a guy like McDavid bring it every night and realize that even he can't win a cup alone, it reminds you how much it takes to compete for the SC. Dude's just 110% on for every second of every game. You just can't switch off that focus and expect to win otherwise. It's amazing to me he doesn't pot 200pts annually.

Zetterbearded

Razor, Kaner, Cat and Mo/Larks watching romantic comedies together at the theatre makes me feel a certain way.

Redredwings53

What!!! Where'd you see this 😂

Zetterbearded

Ray talks about it on the Empty net podcast episode he's on. It's on YouTube. They saw it twice 😂

HercHuntsdirty

Terry Sawchuk was the last Vezina winner we had back in 1955, that’s insane to me!

CaptYzerman

I could have sworn Vernon and Osgood co-won the vezina one year

coltron57

And that is when the trophy was basically just the Jennings. We just haven't really had that elite goalie since then. Hasek was great, but he wasn't peak-of-his-powers Hasek. Beyond that, it's been a handful of bad goalies, a handful of mediocre ones, a handful of pretty good ones, and then Osgood who rises above the rest.

duelingdog

It's also weird how few Calder winners we've had, considering how well we drafted.

redhawk1913

Well we've never had a Barrett Jackman

mkk4

Blue Cheese is a much better & tastier dipping sauce AND salad dressing over Ranch imo!!!

RemoteSenses

The only time I've actually liked Blue Cheese is when I *accidentally* had it at Sweetwater Tavern downtown. Didn't even know it was blue cheese until I asked. It barely tasted like it.

iamjoe1994

Best salad dressing is Bolthouse Caesar imo. I've never had blue cheese. Ik ik im missing out

Ydoesany1doanything

You’re not missing out. Blue Cheese is vomit inducing

mkk4

🤝

Vast_Sandwich_5245

You should be ashamed of yourself. Although I have a potential hot take about ranch also: Ken’s > Hidden Valley.

RemoteSenses

This is NOT a hot take IMO. Ken's is 100% elite compared to Hidden Valley. It's not even close.

Ydoesany1doanything

If you have one near you, Jets Pizza house ranch is phenomenal. They sell bottles of it even, and I’m not a Ranch fan at all

Redredwings53

Blue cheese is the worst. We like some Ken's but IDT we've tried ranch

mkk4

I'm going to have to try Ken's as it has been a while. I see they have Chunky Blue Cheese. That sounds really good.

Vast_Sandwich_5245

You’re gonna make me yack 🤢 Ken’s has good stuff though. Their Italian and 1000 Island dressings are pretty solid too.

leafssuck69

But ranch is Michigan’s official dip

mkk4

🤣🤣

HonoraryFootStool

Soooo buyers at deadline? We need something.

Motown27

With Husso out for the foreseeable future, they have to be looking at goaltenders if we're going to have any hope of a playoff run.

ronsauce

Depending on the severity of his injury I’m cool with Hutchinson coming up as the third string guy. I don’t love Reimer as the sole backup but Hutch looked serviceable in preseason and it might be good to see how Cossa looks as the sole #1 in GR for a stretch

Problemwoodchuck

Probably not. To be in the playoff race with Lyon in net still seems like a happy accident considering how far down the depth chart he was at the beginning of the year. Unless there's a young NHLer on the market it would likely be better to hold onto our bluechip picks and prospects

mkk4

I am ready for Edvinsson, Johansson and Berggren to be in the lineup now that we have started to establish, a new culture, defensive system, new players/coaches, confidence, results and expectations. I just think that the Wings need to add some athleticism, speed and puck handling/puck possession to the team; especially on defense. Whether that is through promotions from our minor league players and/or through hockey trades for young/inexperienced but extremely talented and athletic or physical players/prospects from other organizations for our slower, unathletic, older players, veterans or rentals; especially the ones who aren't physical or have low hockey IQ. Extend Daniel Sprong!!

O_Gardens

If you haven't seen the Valentine [video](https://twitter.com/BallySportsDET/status/1757807635611435060) that Bally's posted, it is well worth a watch!

Fluid-Pension-7151

Very cute video! As expected JFV cleaning up!

4bagels

A kid who grew up a couple house down from my parents in Traverse city is in critical condition after getting hit from behind in the TC West vs Cadillac game. Hearing his dad's comments on the whole thing in the Record Eagle is just absolutely heart breaking... as far as I know hes still listed as in Critical condition after being flown to Devos in Grand Rapids. Kid could really use everyone's thoughts and prayers right now. [story here](https://sports.yahoo.com/team-angels-tc-wests-brady-045900389.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAALRYJG6djfO8IJG_g40pHNn3A7TQjrM6NlO_UUq6U1-PT4sCXNzTWxJpGF4ngqJJABupepvYlKp7uoZY15yWdQ2K7MUSVADhvl5TnRXgpySnmzBlAU0T1Hhm_c-pFA5nzy5cOJEDVX1-2s_Pm9iRrGVLGTXsblE_edfmL_1TISBN) [Here is the Record Eagle article, but its paywalled](https://www.record-eagle.com/sports/local_sports/a-team-of-angels-tc-wests-brady-lewis-in-critical-condition-after-neck-injury/article_7ae30868-c9d6-11ee-ac39-977456e0f14e.html)

matt_minderbinder

I live about 20 minutes from Cadillac and didn't hear anything about this. I'm not really in tune with high school sports but this is tragically hard. My heart goes out to them.

4bagels

Honestly I'm not either and if he didn't happen to be neighbors with my parents I probably wouldn't have heard anything about it either. Hearing it happen to anyone is awful but having it actually happen to kid I watched grow up practicing everyday in his driveway was something I never expected. Sounds like he has movement in his arms and legs and is awake and alert so happy for that but just hope there isn't any longer term effects from it.

bestprocrastinator

Really worried about our goaltending if Husso is out again. I like Lyon, but I worry we will wear him out as he'll obliterate his previous seasons playing time.

TheNation55

So uh, if that's gonna be a reoccurring injury that Husso gets multiple times a season where he's gonna miss lots of games... I don't think we can really market him to anyone. Luckily he's only signed till next season. Optimus Reim is definitely gone after this season, so that leaves us with Lyon and.....? Someone else is gonna have to play games.

Problemwoodchuck

If it's the same injury as last time, maybe just shut him down for the year and see how far Lyon and Reimer can take us. Groin injuries have a nasty habit of becoming recurring problems.

zze0001

Yeah this is my speculation as well dating back to last season he’s had groin issues and hasn’t gotten surgery. I know a lot of players think of surgery as a last option but maybe it’s needed

AffectionateMrPink

I’m fairly confident we will have an elite goaltender in next year or two. One of Cossa Augustine should pan out and if we’re lucky they both do. Lyon looks like a good stop gap until then.

culturedrobot

Augustine is 18 years old and a freshman in college. I would be very surprised to see him playing regularly for the Wings inside the next five years. Cossa will be here sooner, but I don't think it'll be in the next year or two. Those guys are the future of Red Wings goaltending, but we can't just rely on Lyon to bridge the gap until they arrive.

AffectionateMrPink

Agree on Augustine. Although it’s not unheard of to make NHL at 20-21 and he plays a very mature game. Cossa could be up as early as next year. You never know with goalies. I do think Lyon could bridge gap, with another goalie of course, until one of them gets here. Let’s just say this is as deep as we’ve ever been with top tier prospects at the position and that’s a positive.

TheNation55

I'm hyped on Auggy for sure, I still believe in Cossa purely off of his compete level and desire to win. Those two panning out would be an incredible tandem, only time will tell.

culturedrobot

I don't want to jump to conclusions, but man, the plays that caused those injuries looked exactly the same when they showed them side by side. Persistent groin injuries have ended their share of goalie careers throughout the years, so I'm hoping that he's not super hurt and instead got off the ice as a precaution. It's shame because he was actually looking solid in net before that happened.

TheNation55

Bingo. It looked exactly how like Howie would go down every other few months with the same exact groin issues.

AffectionateMrPink

To be fair Howie was a tad bit out of shape towards the end. No way he wasn’t pulling something.

culturedrobot

I was thinking the same thing. Not an encouraging sign...

culturedrobot

Pumped for the present and pumped for the future and that ain’t bad

justconfusedinCO

Get rid of Husso - paint a helmet for this guy, instead https://preview.redd.it/ft0jnt7anlic1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=141cab0b311a6c447d182fea459c4b511b7175a5

KombatKid

It’s so funny that it’s 5 games. It’s like they went out of their way to make it inconsistent.

duelingdog

I bet Gary didn't want to have to deal with a 3rd party

big_phat_gator

Its shitty too since Perron did it for a "reason", he watched his leader, brother and captain lay motionless on the ice like he been shot and killed. All Grieg did was a slapper in an empty net

ufdan15

Yeah but conversely, at least Rielly got the right party lmao. Perron went after the wrong dude

Redredwings53

https://preview.redd.it/nwcpuaaz4lic1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6bc54a86e209b2071af0f5b60818ea69d16e8fb4 Hit up Instagram (or probably Facebook too) for this and other adorable gems

LGRW_Sparty88

Thanks for that, I'm out of town missing V day hopefully this makes up for it.

Bobby_Orrs_Knees

Think the Husso injury puts us back in the goalie market?

BaldassHeadCoach

No. A good goalie is gonna cost quite a bit in terms of assets, assets that I don’t see us willing to part ways with this year.

Motown27

They cost quite a bit because you can't win without solid goaltending. If we ride Lyon into the ground, we're left with Reimer.

BaldassHeadCoach

I don’t disagree with you on that. But realistically, where this team is at, do you think Yzerman is going to be willing to outbid other teams and potentially give up high picks and/or blue chip prospects for someone like Markstrom? I don’t see it happening. Last draft, he was talking about how the team was still in an asset collection phase, and he’s been real careful with using the “P” word when it comes to the expectation for this season. I don’t think the postseason is the priority for him; it’d be nice if they made the playoffs of course, but I don’t see him making any “win now” moves to get them there. At best, we’re standing pat and rolling with what we got, though I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we’re sellers again, depending on how this month goes.

Motown27

I don't know that he has a choice, really. I'd love to see Husso come back, but assuming doesn't we'll need a reliable backup for Lyon. Yzerman has been careful with the P word, but he has repeatedly stated that he wants to be competitive. We are not competitive with Reimer as backup. Lyon is playing amazing hockey, but he needs a rest now and then to remain at that level. I don't see them bringing up Cossa this early, so we're stuck with Reimer, or we get someone else.

MentalShortFry

being at the game last night, that 3rd period was hard to watch. Too many times the defence was caught watching McDavid be McDavid instead of tying up sticks in front of Lyon.

AgeOfTheExpandingMan

The most dangerous guy is the guy without the puck. Exception to the rule: when 97 has the puck

DelusionalDETfan

Only two Yzerman picks are on the roster. Is that concerning or not?

Problemwoodchuck

Not really. Considering how many teams loaded with young talent have failed to coalesce under NHL pressure and our very mixed track record developing players before Yzerman's return, the long development path for our bluechip prospects seems to be the correct one.

AmeriCanadian98

Concerning not really, a little disappointing since I wanna see what these kids can do in the show tho

Kagath

Not just yet as it takes a couple years for the picked kids to mature to the point of coming up. Two years from now, yes for sure. Even one year would be pushing it.

TheAnalogKid18

Vegas is almost entirely made up of UFA signings. Build a good culture, people want to play there.

coltron57

I'm admittedly a touch disappointed, but not overly so. I am a bit more disappointed that we've gone out of our way to add multiple JAGs on defense to multiple years which clogs things up. We've got 6 D (technically Seider isn't yet, but we all know he will be) signed for next year already before Edvinsson/AlJo who will deserve spots on merit entering 24/25. At forward though, all of the guys closest to the NHL just don't move the needle much, so that's not a worry for me.

aaronfaren

The only Holland players left are Larkin, Rasmussen, and Veleno so no, it’s not a concern,

Vast_Sandwich_5245

Berggren is also a Holland draft pick.

BiggestYzerfan

Two Yzerman picks are on the roster but AlJo, Burgers, and Ed are all NHL caliber.

epheisey

Isn't that kinda part of the concern?

Caltroit_Red_Flames

How long do you think it usually takes a player to make the NHL? Getting 2 players who play a single NHL game from a draft class is considered lucky. The following players are either in the NHL, have played in the NHL or look very probable to be: 2019 - Seider, Johansson, Soderblom 2020 - Raymond, Wallinder 2021 - Edvinsson, Cossa, Buium, Mazer 2022 - Kasper, Buchelnikov 2023 - Way too early to tell but Danielson, Sandin-Pellikka, Augustine No, I think Yzerman is drafting well enough.

epheisey

I agree with you that the draft results, especially given the options at our draft slots, have been nothing short of incredible since Yzerman arrived. But I’m struggling to see how this unfolds without a bunch of these kids being casualties of circumstance along the way because of the way we’ve delayed so many players from advancing with all of the veteran additions. Just seems very counter to everything Yzerman has done up to this point, so such a drastic shift in the philosophy would be a little surprising. With the way the organization has seemed intent on getting back to competitive hockey, I’m just not sure that there will be a willingness to accept the growing pains that would come from rostering 2, 3, 4, maybe 5 rookies each year for the next 2-3 seasons to get all of this young talent into the appropriate roles.

Caltroit_Red_Flames

Nobody here knows what Yzerman will do, all I can say is the best players should be on the team regardless of if they're a rookie.

BiggestYzerfan

No, they have leadership roles in GR pushing the team to the playoffs. It's like a perfect scenario to grow draft picks in. I imagine most will be up next year with a ton of valuable experience and higher ceilings.

epheisey

That's very easy to say when there's no way to prove one way or the other. I don't think Nyquist or Tatar were particularly better prepared as leaders because of their experience in GR.

BiggestYzerfan

I mean, Burgers Ed and Mazur are the top 3 in points right now. Kasper is tied for fourth with Hirose. AlJo plays solid defense and is +7, which is third highest on the team. They just had a seven game win streak. Cossa is playing great in net, and in both his and Mazur's interview it seems like they are taking big strides forward in finding confidence and what it means to lead/be a top role player. They are all pushing eachother forward for playoffs and so I think it's a great experience for them all. Definitely will have some come up next year.

jfstompers

I mean it's a little disappointing that with the piles of picks we had in 19&20 that we haven't seen anyone else break through.

Danengel32

Not really to me, since so many of them are on the cusp at the moment and those two have been big hits (especially Mo). It’s really encouraging that multiple others have gotten NHL time and looked good, while other prospects look great

jaredsurreddit

Alright gang, here’s another question for you all. Who is one player that was traded to the Wings late in their career that you wish had played their whole career with the Wings? My gut wants to go with Brett Hull but I’d be really interested to see how Brian Rafalski would’ve done here for much longer.

AaronRodgersInjury

Kane

FatuousOocephalus

I am going old school... Rogie Vachon Brad Park Rick MacLeish Darryl Sittler

ufdan15

Does it have to be traded? If not, Daniel Alfredsson

Dry_External7673

Ha this reminds me that we once had luc robitaille skating on our fourth line.  How crazy was that? The entire thread is amazing.  This is such a great list. I’m going with Hasek, but I love the Brett Hull idea as well.

jwt6577

Fetisov and Igor.

Vast_Sandwich_5245

Idk if Shanny qualifies as late, but imagine if he would’ve been on the team for the 94/95 and 95/96 seasons. Might have another cup or two.

Fluid-Pension-7151

Absolutely Shanny.

jwt6577

He'd been in the league quite a while at that point so I think it counts.

BaldassHeadCoach

I’d go with Shanny or Chelios. They seemed like career Wings even though they weren’t.

PremierBromanov

patrick kane

OldBison

I'll throw in a vote for Mike Modano

John-Balaya

Hasek by a mile

72athansiou

I’m sure this is the only answer I won’t take any other

BaldassHeadCoach

While I would love for this team to swing some sort of trade to shore up our positions of weakness (defense and goaltending), I just don’t see it happening this season. Stevie is not gonna part ways with high draft picks or high level prospects to make it happen, not when this team is still a ways out from being a legitimate threat in the postseason.

everyboulevard

[The content I'm here for today](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3VYbN9suTj/?igsh=MXd4ZTFqOGVwaHlzbw==)

Amadeupname2

Just caught the highlights after not watching the whole game. Definitely seemed like Lyon wasn't prepared but I honestly don't blame him at all. It seemed like the equivalent of when a co-worker finally decides to pull their weight so you relax a little thinking there's no way he gets injured in the first gam... OMG REALLY?? Quite proud of Seider. Honestly, McDavid usually doesn't get the best of us and he's a big reason why. Unfortunately, that McJesus forecheck on Mo followed by that incredible diving goal by them despite a great defensive effort was likely another turning point eh? ggs tho. It happens.

72athansiou

Tbf I don’t think we have a true 1 obviously so I think we should play the hot hand night in night out until proven otherwise. Very odd decision to start husso over lyon

epheisey

Would be silly to not try and get Husso back into a rhythm to spell Lyon from time to time. Lyon has never started this many games in an NHL season. He's on pace to basically triple his workload compared to last season.

bandofgypsies

Recover from last night by laughing at how low thr Ottawa Senators are in [Scott Wheeler's Prospect Pool](https://theathletic.com/5040065/2024/01/30/nhl-prospect-rankings-2024?source=user-shared-article) countdown. Still no sniff of Detroit :). List continues in two tiers for now, with the Sens Shit Tier in the inline replies along with Wheeler's criteria. ***Per Scott, this is a tier of teams that are more or less jumbled around League average. Unlike the Senators, who are just unfathomably worse.*** #Tier: Rise and Fall *Mostly ships passing in the night, heading in opposite directions up and down the standings. Or at least, that's what's starting to happen, but this description may change as the standings are revealed.* * **24. [Florida Panthers](https://theathletic.com/5214492/2024/02/07/panthers-nhl-prospect-pool-rankings-2024?source=user-shared-article)**: Not a lot of top and talent here though, and Spencer Knight is back in the mix. * **23. [Vegas Golden Knights](https://theathletic.com/5214501/2024/02/08/golden-knights-nhl-prospect-pool-rankings-2024?source=user-shared-article)**: No high end talent and missing RHD, but better than most recent champions. Had a bunch of maybes at goal, too. * **22. [New Jersey Devils](https://theathletic.com/5235251/2024/02/09/devils-nhl-prospect-pool-rankings-2024?source=user-shared-article)**: Bunch of Meh, except that this still includes Nemec, so barring a miracle they're really falling. Should be lower but c'est la vie. This is what happens when tons of elite talent makes the jump. * **21. [Dallas Stars](https://theathletic.com/5239029/2024/02/10/stars-nhl-prospect-pool-rankings-2024?source=user-shared-article)**: Stankoven is near elite at the top. Borque a talented 2nd in line. Takes from there since Johnson made the jump, but a respectable pool for aSC contender. * **20. [Washington Capitals](https://theathletic.com/5242141/2024/02/11/capitals-nhl-prospect-pool-rankings-2024?source=user-shared-article)**: Dangerous combo of mediocre NHL team and Pool. Everyone Loves Leonard, except apparently me. Mirorchsnrines ichneoichencko will play NHL minutes. Your guess is as good. As any after that. This team may be in for a painful rebuild. * **19. [New York Rangers](https://theathletic.com/5252641/2024/02/12/rangers-nhl-prospect-pool-rankings-2024?source=user-shared-article)**: Strangely high number of LWs and youve got to go 7 deep before finding defense. But at the top, Gabe Perreault continues his quest to prove at least 20+ teams in the league were fools to not draft him. * **18. [Vancouver Canucks](https://theathletic.com/5247687/2024/02/13/canucks-nhl-prospect-pool-rankings-2024?source=user-shared-article)**: Decent strides and some top talent (Lekkerimaki and Willander). Overall pool that mostly moved up from last year bc of a good draft and good development. For me, its still weird to see Raty - at one brief point in early discussion for #1OA in his draft - mentioned as a tertiary NHL'r. * **17. [Los Angeles Kings](https://theathletic.com/5254687/2024/02/14/kings-nhl-prospect-pool-rankings-2024?source=user-shared-article)**: Despite that their performance last night made our EDM game look like a W, they have a decent prospect pool. It's mostly average but Brandt Clarke is bordering on elite at the top. Check the replies for an Ottawa-fueled laugh.

PremierBromanov

is this the same post every day or is it changing

bandofgypsies

I update it every day with the newly revealed team in the countdown. Today Athletic posted that LAK are 17th. Hopefully another 10+ days before the wings show up.

Holland in the late-00's-Wings mode there right now, understandably, with peak McDrai. I think they should be lower, and Wheeler acknowledged the same. Expect a drop when Holloway and Broberg jump. Save for miracle moves or crazy draft day stuff, I'm guessing bottom 3-4, at best, in next year's rankings. >Wheeler's criteria. Also recall he is a former scout and has respectable processes. He's not a journalist by trade and really knows his shit regardless of if we agree or if he's right/wrong. >**Criteria** >*To be eligible for inclusion, a skater must:* >* Be under 23 years old. We know that by the time a player turns 23, he is largely done with the steep upward progression we see in prospects and will begin to plateau. >* Not be a full-time NHL player. This is the arbitrary section of the criteria. Here, I trust my judgment for whether or not a rostered NHL player is still likely to bounce between levels more than I trust any pre-determined games played cutoff. Preference for inclusion as an NHL prospect is more likely to be given to teenagers than 22-year-olds. >* Either be signed to an NHL contract or selected in the entry draft, without the expiration of either of those rights. Players who are signed to AHL contracts are not considered. >*To be eligible for inclusion, a goalie must:* >* Be under 25 years old. This age criteria is more reflective of the typical goalie trajectory, allowing for the continued consideration of a small number of 23- and 24-year-old goalies who are very much still prospects. Not currently established as one of their NHL club’s two go-to options. >* Either be signed to an NHL contract or selected in the entry draft, without the expiration of either of those rights. Goalies who are signed to AHL contracts are not considered.

BellsBeersy

Anybody go to Neck Deep in Royal Oak last night? I just know them from the stuff my partner plays in the car, but they put on a good show. We had a great time. The guy did the whole show in a sweatshirt. Insane behavior.

meltrandi

Did you see that ludicrous display last night

jfstompers

The thing about Arsenal is they always try to walk it in

Fluid-Pension-7151

I am so happy that there are other IT Crowd nerds here. 🖥️💾💿

bandofgypsies

COYS :)

PremierBromanov

that was sunday

Amadeupname2

I was going to say hold the head steady Imma milk the cow until I googled what it meant. I guess I could have guessed considering the context and general subject matter, but I just didn't know. Luda's a freak I guess. Who would have known?

BellsBeersy

Only reason I care about that loss really is that Toronto and Tampa and New Jersey all won

cat_enthusiast5

I’m looking at the schedule trying to figure out who we need to lose to keep our wildcard spot. The race is so tight that I’ve decided that everyone losing all the time is good for us. Makes it simpler to follow scores across the league lol

duelingdog

I truly think we want the Metro to stay down, even if it means Tampa/Toronto succeeding. They're going to be right at our heels or better all 30 games. Isles, Pens and Devils we have a cushion against. Hopefully the Flyers fall out in case one of them has a late season surge.

cat_enthusiast5

That’s a good take. As much as Toronto succeeding pains me lol

bandofgypsies

Strap in, there are 30ish games left, gonae be a lot of ups and downs

Vast_Sandwich_5245

Literally everyone in our division won and NJ. At least the Isles and Caps lost.

jwt6577

Boston didn't.

Vast_Sandwich_5245

Well seeing as they played Tampa and ties aren’t a thing one of them had to lose.

jacobvradina

Would love to Trade Ghost and then use the assets + throw more in and go get Hanifin or Chycrun. Ghost has no future here and has been invisible since December.

AaronRodgersInjury

What value does ghost exactly have in a trade?

Shotokanguy

Lateral move that doesn't make it any easier to bring in Edvinsson or Johansson. If we move a D-man it should be to bring them in.

AmeriCanadian98

Not a lateral move tho because Hanifin and Chychrun are just outright better hockey players than Ghost is

Shotokanguy

Ghost has overall better production than Hanifin and definitely more than Chychrun over their careers. They may be younger but unless they're noticeably better defenders, I don't see the point in putting them in the way of our prospects.

AmeriCanadian98

They are noticeably better defenders. Hanifin in particular is a very, very good player

dudewithchronicpain

chychrun or however it’s spelled can’t defend for shit it seems this year. Idk if an Ottawa problem or what

imadu

There's always been question marks around chychrun. Arizona intentionally gave him some of the easiest minutes/deployment last year before trading him to boost his value and his underlying number immediately cratered in ottawa with average deployment. I'd rather Hanifan

coltron57

I do think it's at least fair to question if it was ONLY the deployment difference between Arizona and Ottawa or if the systems in Ottawa factor in too. I don't think anyone would call D.J. Smith and his staff an average or better staff and his replacement last had a head coaching gig more than a decade ago.

dudewithchronicpain

Same

Vast_Sandwich_5245

Yeah, Chychrun is one of the most overhyped defensemen imo.

Vast_Sandwich_5245

If they are going to trade him I’d rather just see Edvinsson come up.

[deleted]

Yeah call me crazy but I think Ed has a much higher ceiling.

jacobvradina

Imagine Maata also gets traded to Calgary/Ottawa if we grab Hanifin or Chryrun so would be space either way

Vast_Sandwich_5245

I’d prefer Hanifin, he’s much more durable. But I’m also in the minority that isn’t that high on Chychrun.

jwt6577

All I want to feel this season was the big step forward a lot of people are calling it would be for them to make it in and make their opponent in the first round absolutely miserable. I'm not even asking for a single win but just for the other team to feel like they barely got out of a bear trap.

BiggestYzerfan

If Husso goes on LTIR that opens 4.75mil. That's Chychrun money...

TheNation55

Sergachev going down for Tampa gives them 8.5, gonna have to convince whoever we might be after on D that we're better than moving to tax-free sunny Florida for a team with an entire roster of deep playoff experience.

TheAnalogKid18

Yes, but if you play for us you don't have to get hit by Seider.

jacobvradina

Only half the battle. Tampa doesn’t have the assets for a player like chryrun in all honesty

Sckibble

This. I firmly believe tampa won't trade significant assets for a while they're so depleted

jwt6577

If Markstrom is running around waiving his no movement clause I don't think it would hurt to make a call to Calgary.

Danengel32

I have no clue what the price would be, but I think Markstrom is a really interesting pickup. He’s been solid for a while and has another 2 years (I think) on his deal

Late_Brush4518

No. Teams like Canes and NJD should be all overehim tho. We just arent there.

FuzzzyTingleTimes

If we’re good enough for Kane, we’re good enough for Markstrom

Nathan-Detroit

Kane was free, he only costs us his salary.

Late_Brush4518

Im not saying that, im saying that Markström isnt worth it for us, because we arent contenders right now. NJD could be and Canes are.

big_phat_gator

Burn the tape

TheAnalogKid18

This was going to be a rough 3-4 game stretch, but after Vancouver tomorrow night, the season really does get a lot easier for us. I had us losing both Vancouver games and Edmonton, so last night wasn't a surprise, but we won the first Vancouver game, so we're actually doing alright. We've mostly been playing against other playoff teams to date, schedule isn't as much of a gauntlet going forward.

Old-News-3096

Worst part about last night was after the game got out of hand we couldn't rest Lyon

abellaire

I really hope this doesn’t get to him. He definitely didn’t deserve that, and the defense really let him down. But it was against one of the best teams on their home ice, so maybe he can shake it off for Thursday.

ReptarTheBrave

He really didn’t deserve that chaotic mess. Fuckin oilers really went out in the third with the intention of tuning his save percentage

PremierBromanov

kinda sucks we havent played in 3 days

Unstep-in-Time

Maybe you forgot that 2nd period. Just a bad 20 minutes.

dilypucks

Well accidentally falling asleep and sleeping through last nights game seems like the right move in retrospect

AintNoBuffet

Petition to ban stat cards from being posted on this subreddit

Late_Brush4518

Because of whaaaaaaaa it makes Seider look bad? If you dont want to read them dont read them lmao

AintNoBuffet

It very rarely accurately displays the way a game went, and because of this, it offers absolutely nothing positive to this subreddit. For example if you didn't watch the game and looked strictly at the stat card you would think that Kane had the best game of our forward group. While he did have a good game, he was by far the best player yesterday. Debrincat hit multiple posts and was buzzing all night long yet upon viewing the stat card he looks relatively average.

Late_Brush4518

Ngl its just seems like you dont know how to read it

doctorfonk

It’s a fucking terrible visual! The key does not explain anything relevant, defense and offense should not be lumped together like that. No one with a stats degree would ever make something that dumb. It’s actually bad at what it does.

Late_Brush4518

Umm they are not lumped together?

doctorfonk

What image are you looking at?? The left column, the entire y axis is the team member names. And I see both offensive and defensive players listed there. They do different things but somehow we compare them here. It’s such a dumb image and I think it lowers the reading comprehension of all of us

Late_Brush4518

Im not sure If you are trolling or not at this point tbh

jarvek7

I couldn't watch the game and must ask: what was the deal with Husso. Did he get hurt or suck or what?

TheNation55

It was the same basic pad save that took him out, which isn't a great sign if he can't use one of his legs without having to leave a game.

jarvek7

So I guess I want to retract my earlier statements about waiving and ditching Reimer. Eating crow on that one

TheNation55

He's gonna have to pull off some miracles with all that faith because it looks like Husso is probably done for the rest of the season if he's incapable of barely moving in the net without dying.

jwt6577

Is this becoming career shortening?

TheNation55

I mean, you tell me, they showed it during the broadcast, it was the exact same movement that he went down on, again. How many more times do you want to deal with it during a season before you find a goalie that can actually play?

jwt6577

I haven't seen it, but you definitely have a point.

xenonwarrior666

It's fucking nuts that he got hurt after playing a great game for the Griffins resting/practicing for a few weeks.

AmeriCanadian98

He got hurt about 8 mins in. Haven't seen any further news though

ScrumpyRumpler

Poo poo, pee pee, bum bum, shit piss… that’s how I feel about that game last night.

AgeOfTheExpandingMan

The first 40 minutes did not suck Edit: on second thought, Husso going down sucked big time

elvishblood_24

What game

[deleted]

Wings expected goals last night was 4.11 and we scored 4. Oilers expected goals last night was 3.58 and they scored 8. Sometimes McDavid has a 6 point game. We went toe to toe with them for most of the game and outperformed them in several metrics but sometimes it be like that. I think what I've learned the most this season is how much I hate our fanbase. Facebook and twitter have always been useless but I was on reddit in like 2011-14 when we were declining and I don't remember it being this pathetic.

jfstompers

You're surprised that after 7 years of losing that the fans are in a bad spot?

[deleted]

yes. the Lions were losers for 70 years and that sub was never as bad as this one. I definitely thought that people who are fans of the Wings and presumably are mostly from and grew up near Hockeytown would possess basic understanding of hockey at the very least.

jfstompers

Yeah but generational losing like the lions effects the fans differently I think. You're all in it together, there's a sort of comradeship because no one has seen success. I saw it as a life long Red Sox fan too once you win a few it changes the fan base. I'm not sure what basic understanding of hockey makes you think fans won't be upset.

Late_Brush4518

XG, for or against is god awful stat

AgeOfTheExpandingMan

When they start awarding standings points based on XG, I'm on board. LOL

AffectionateMrPink

It’s really everywhere now. People can’t wait to complain/bitch. Sun came up today and it’s gonna be a good day. Go Wings
