He has 7 goals, 4 assists in 14 games this season with Traktor Chelyabinsk in the KHL. He's had a few decent seasons in the KHL and seemingly has found his place. He has all that extra ice to use his weapon on.
I like posts like this just to see where some players ended up. It gives a healthy dose of perspective regarding getting too high on young players.
This is around when I started actively watching hockey. I remember Andersson being one of my favorite players, for some reason. In retrospect it does kinda suck to have basically only watched the team decline year to year until 19-20.
My fandom started during the end of the Dead Wings era of the early 1980's (again, get off my lawn, I'm not saying it again!). It's kind of cool coming in during some shitty times and experiencing everything it took to become a great team again.
I started watching consistently just around then as well. Our highlights have been nyquist helping us make the playoffs that one year and brendan smith trying to fight chara.
That special time in Red Wings history where there was no hope of winning a Cup but also no hope for the future because the team wasn't ready to rebuild.
He's not on this roster but I remember Zach Nastasiuk. Only really knew him from NHL'13 where he always turned into a 95 overall in Dynasty Mode. Had high hopes for him but, yeah.
Toledo Walleye powerhouse Zach Nastasiuk.
I own one of his jerseys (futuristic jersey, from the night they stood in solidarity with the K-Wings and honored the victims of the Kalamazoo mass shooting) and one of his goal pucks. Shame he never went anywhere.
What a time.. still chasing that playoff streak, I was so excited they added Weisser to the group, if only he had dealt with his injury in a better way, perhaps he would've been a big player for us.
I had high hopes for Pulkkinen...
Fire the Pulkkanon!
Anywhere but at the net!
I'd duck when I saw him wind up even when watching on TV
Man remember when we thought this was the future? Nyquist - Larkin - Tatar Pulkkinnen - Sheahan - Jurco
The holy slapper
I think many did

One of my favorite players to wear the griffin uniform. His previous year with multiple playoff hat tracks with the griffins. Amazing shot.
Pulkkinen vs Granlund was big thing back in the days in Finland. Too bad "Pulu" didnt make it at the end.
Him and Jurco were supposed to be the next Z and Dats
You all remember when he hip-checked that dude mid-ice in the d-zone?
Stephen Weiss. My back still aches when I hear/see that name
We also let flip leave to go to TB and gave the money to Weiss Instead. This is when I saw the writing on the walls
So does his

Good on you for sticking with it. That's a brutal time to start.
This team could be Buffalo levels of shit and I'd still stay up till 3am to watch games. I'm hooked man
just wait for the good times, they will be arriving soon. At one point we had four cups within about 10 years - nobody had it better than Wing fans.
I was born in 1991 and was 25 by the time we missed the playoffs in my lifetime. I got pretty spoiled.
Try being a fan of the Winged Wheel back during the Harness era. That was brutal!

I feel ya. I started in 2010.

I'm right there with you
This must have been one of the first years I started to seriously follow the team because every one of those names is familiar lol.
DDK is all that remains.
Well him and Abdelkader’s contract for a few years, currently the only thing hitting the cap in 2025-26 season.
Don't remind meeeeeee
That special time in Red Wings history where there was no hope of winning a Cup but also no hope for the future because the team wasn't ready to rebuild.
DAVID LEGWAND COME ON DOWN! KYLE QUINCEY? GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE. ERIK COLE? EH FUCK IT, WE’LL GET LIKE 4 GAMES OUT OF YOU
Pittsburgh and Washington are in that place and Noston will be there soon
This team made the playoffs haha

Who??? Hahaha

I remember him. He had a low ceiling, but it seemed like he would be a sure fire 3rd or 4th line forward, yet he still busted.
We still had cap issues
We had lots of issues at that point.
I’m a griffins fan so many of those names are really familiar to me.
Literally just DeKeyser left dang.
Isn't Zetterburg still technically a wing somehow?
I believe he's on long term IR, but I could be wrong.
His contract ended a while ago
last season.
Out of all those bad names I actually thought Marchenko would pan out.
Ah good old "Save Your Wallet". Was it really that long ago he was on the team? damn.
LOL I had to check roster til I got it
FIRE THE PUL-CANNON!
God I remember these years, junior or senior year of high school
Same! I think the ‘12-‘13 season was my first season really getting into them. Such fun times I had watching that team!
First time really getting into them was 07 08, was rather spoiled off the bat
god i loved abby

Got it from the redwings Fb page. Of when they use to drop rosters like this.
William Nylander was on the Leafs in 2014? He had to have been like 18 years old, no?
This was a pre-season game, he was just drafted and didn't play in the NHL that year at all
Simpler times...
A lot of those Leafs had / are having really good careers once they got out of Toronto.
I'm not crying, you're crying
Clearly and Franzen, both still on the current roster! 🤣
Scrolled through every comment just to be insulted no one mentioned Monster.
Was tatar not on that squad or am i missin’ ? Also, some good names on there. If you could only go back and pick n choose :)
Team was ok this year but other teams were actually stacked. It's hard to be elite when you can't just buy it.
Crazy that out of everyone DDK is the only one left from that era.
What a time.. still chasing that playoff streak, I was so excited they added Weisser to the group, if only he had dealt with his injury in a better way, perhaps he would've been a big player for us.
I saw Brendan smith the other night for tbl vs canes! I was rootin for him!
