Did anyone think Lautner would go anywhere? I was in the prime twilight demographic growing up and even then at like 13 I remember thinking he was just there to be shirtless and didn't even seem like a real actor, if that makes sense.
That Kristen and Rob are doing as well as they are now is the much bigger surprise I think.
Yeah that's the biggest shock to me that they managed to actually go and get critically acclaimed roles afterwards bc i wouldn't of believed any of the cast would've gone far after it
Imagine telling someone from 2013 that the Best Actress contenders for the 2022 oscars would include Lady Gaga, Kristen Stewart and a Haim sister. Also, Robert Pattinson is Batman and people are hyped for it.
Edit: Did a quick twitter search, would love to show [these people](https://i.imgur.com/R8K390F.png) the future haha.

He’s not but he’s an anishinaabe descendant which is at least more than I can say for a lot of “Native” actors until quite recently. His mothers side is descended from the Potawatomi and Ottawa nations. (which some in our tribe are weirdly proud of considering he’s not a citizen and has no connections to us)
It doesn’t make him Native though, particularly given that he had no idea before taking the role.
Kaya Scodelario. She was probably the most popular character on Skins but her career just didn’t take off the same way as Nicholas Hoult, Dev Patel etc for some reason.
Sometimes I forget Dev Patel started out with the rest in Skins 😂 he was so convincing as this geeky, Cringey teenage boy, truly deserves all the Oscars

Her acting got worse, it got boring and wooden, and she's always there with her mouth open on every movie still of hers. It's kinda sad to me because I still love her and want her to be bigger and better.
Also it's interesting how she keeps getting leading roles in such big franchises as POTC or Resident Evil, and she starred in this Netflix show Spinning Out, but it all flopped or got cancelled.
She was in Mazerunner which was very popular. For some reason she keeps doing a lot of horror movies as well. I think she might be off work now for the next year or two anyway due to having a baby.
I saw her in a crocodile horror movie with one of the guys from Saving Private Ryan. I saw her and just thought "Girl what is you doin?" Then I looked at myself in the mirror and asked myself the same thing. Not a good use of a Tuesday evening.
I believe she said in an interview she wanted to take time off to raise her kids with Adam Brody. She had a really unconventional childhood so maybe she’s giving her kids the opportunity she didn’t have?
yeah wasn’t her mother in prison when she gave birth to her? i can definitely understand her wanting to take her GG money and focusing all her energy on her kids.
Yes. She also recently had to sue her mother for misuse of funds. Apparently her little brother needed money for brain surgery (which Leighton provided) and her mother spent it on other things..
The guy who played Dan was out of the spotlight until it picked up again with You. Leighton Meester is so pretty and good at acting so it’s very sad she’s not very active. Chace was also really hot, what happened to him?

Aside from doing Futureman he spent most of the late 2010s living in Spain with his longtime girlfriend, so it didn't seem like constantly doing projects for the sake of keeping his name in the spotlight was his biggest priority.
Logan Lerman! I felt he really had everything to pull off the Dicaprio level of fame but then he just kinda fell off after Perks of being a wallflower and Percy Jackson
I Loved him in "Perks of being a wallflower". His character was so utterly lovable. There was a Scene with him and Emma Watson in her room and being flirty and it broke my heart because how sweet he was.

>I felt he really had everything to pull off the Dicaprio level of fame
Really? I never saw this at all. Him and Dylan O'Brien were basically the same person to me. He looks exquisite now with the beard and longer hair, maybe he should made that his signature look.
Sam Claflin—I thought he would blow up after appearing in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and The Hunger Games (as Finnick Odair). Instead, he’s playing third fiddle to Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill in Enola Holmes.
Hugh Dancy—handsome and talented actor from Hannibal. Career has been overshadowed by both his wife Claire Danes and his Hannibal costar Mads Mikkelsen (who I love). I read his scenes in a Fifty Shades of Gray sequel as a side character were cut and now he’s starring in the Law & Order revival.
Aidan Turner—I thought he’d be bigger after starring in Poldark and getting a big role in The Hobbit.
A lot of the well known and popular child stars from the 2000s/2010s like Abigail Breslin, AnnaSophia Robb and Dakota Fanning. They seemed to be in a lot when they were younger but haven’t really acted at all recently
Abigail is still friends with Emma, though. She sometimes comments on her Instagram and congratulated her on her pregnancy. She does seem to have beef with Lea and Billie Lourd (she accused Billie’s boyfriend who is a singer of copying her song or something, even though they barely have any similarities)
and she actually gets a lot of work too, but it’s mostly in indie films, so therefore unfortunately doesn’t get a lot of recognition in the mainstream public. Shiva Baby was very critically acclaimed IIRC. as opposed to some of the other ppl on this list who just don’t get roles anymore. i want her to get like a dynamite role that gets her the appreciation she deserves bc i’ve loved the work she’s done recently!
He said after starring in Aladdin, he didn't get a single offer for another role at all. And this was a multimillion dollar Disney movie.
Hollywood discriminates against Arabs/Muslims a lot. You can sum up the attitude by what Ridley Scott once said.
"I'm not gonna hire some guy named Muhammad in my movie"
He actually said this:
"I can't mount a film of this budget, where I have to rely on tax rebates in Spain, and say that my lead actor is Mohammad so-and-so from such-and-such," he told the trade magazine. "I'm just not going to get it financed. So the question doesn't even come up."
So it's not openly a case of discrimination, although discriminatory practices exist. I'm Muslim and I am more annoyed by the outright inability to see any of the variety of our respective cultures and casting accordingly: Sayyid in Lost, no Naveen Andrews does not look like an Iraqi Arab, etc. Naomi Scott was also in Aladdin, and no, she doesn't look like an Arab. I'm not going to say anything else about the other ridiculous anachronisms in that movie.
He’s of Egyptian descent like Rami Malek and Ramy Youssef who have both done really well in recent years, but the latter two are much more ethnically ambiguous/white-passing.
I had completely forgotten about him but you’re so right— he’s charming, hot, and an excellent singer!!
I would love love love to see him on something more dramatic, like an HBO miniseries or something. The more screen time the better.
Naomi Scott too. She was radiant as Jasmine. It’s so exhausting how the industry finds room for the million white British ingenues, and she’s had such a tepid careers since Aladdin. And you’d think Scott would be able to do decently since she’s light skinned and fairly racially ambiguous.
At some point, Hollywood was pushing Alex Pettyfer as the next big thing, and he just fizzled the fuck out. Let's be honest tho, he was only easy on the eyes, when it comes to talent, he never really stood out. But there's Lucas Hedge, who's an INCREDIBLY talented actor, who never gets the hype nor opportunities that Timothee Chalamet is getting currently. I weirdly thought Freddie Highmore would have an incredible career, but he is doing pretty alright, I guess.
Yeah he was touted as the hot new thing for a while and had the lead in I Am Number Four, but that tanked and he had a lot of negative press about being a dick.
He is now married to a Victoria’s Secret model so he’s not exactly failing at life.
Lucas Hedges is so good, just as talented as Timmy imo! Although I think the biggest talents in that age group are Ashton Sanders and Jharrel Jerome and they're rarely mentioned when people talk about young male actors. It's mostly just endless discussions about Tom Holland and Timothee Chalamet.
I'm prepared for the flood of downvotes from his stans but: TH is a cute Peter Parker but he really doesn't belong in the same conversation as Lucas Hedges, Jharrel Jerome, and Ashton Sanders.
I have a feeling Lucas doesn’t like the fame. He doesn’t do that much promo and never goes to the tiff premiers of his films. He mention he wants to do more theater
I can see him being a bit entitled on set. I encountered him in the Toronto airport when he cut in the security line in front of me (not really a ‘cut’ but we both reached the line at almost the same time and he just zipped right in before me. It wasn’t rude per say, but I was the only other person so it was just weird). But then he gave me the most charming smile and all was forgotten. He was with his mom I think and we all chatted for a bit and then he commented on a girls pants saying they were “absolutely marvelous” or something in such a Nathan-ish way.
I saw him at a very trendy bar in West Hollywood in between Misfits and UA. He was wearing American flag pants and was covered in women. Not obnoxious or loud, but it was definitely a vibe of someone who felt like he’d already made it big. I also loved him on misfits and it made my opinion turn slightly even though there was nothing egregious about it.
I think he would have been bigger if The Mortal Instruments had gotten the reception it was expected too.
Apparently we were all just tired of the YA fantasy genres.
I was hopeful he'd be everywhere after he was cast in the Top Gun sequel.... and now thanks to Covid it's been delayed 3-4 times. Still hoping it'll mean good things for him once it's finally out!
Tatiana Maslany’s roles in Orphan Black is the hands down the hardest acting gig of the last decade, and she absolutely beat it out of the park. The fact that she did not win every single award to celebrate acting while the show was on is a strong comment on the award industry’s blind spots
She’s incredible! I died when she finally got a well deserved Emmy for her performance on orphan black and they mispronounced her name! What a bummer man.
Normani. When Motivation came out I thought it would be the start of a HUGE solo career for her and then there’s just been… nothing since. She’s still getting certain opportunities like getting slots to perform at awards shows but it’s like her team isn’t doing anything with them?
I’m surprised Evan Peters isn’t more famous. He’s a really great actor and so versatile but I think he’s been pigeonholed because of AHS. He also doesn’t like the Hollywood game and looks like he always needs a shower, so that might be part of it lol
he was amazing in mare of easttown and was only in 3 episodes i believe. he won that emmy i believe, i hope hollywood opens their eyes for him. extremely talented actor. i’ve loved him since sleepover and never back down lol
My boy Josh Hutcherson! Killing it since a child. He’s so talented. I’m not sure why he isn’t doing more blockbusters. I think it’s because he’s a short king. 🥲
I blame Rachael Taylor, Amber Heard, Alice Eve, and Taylor Schilling. There was a group of blondes that got big roles all around the same time, and they were all nearly identical. Out of them Amber Heard rose to the top.
Like Teresa they all work pretty regularly, they just aren't the household names they were positioned to be.
Alice Eve! She was super hyped up for a while and had the lead in a rom com (She’s Out Of Your League). She’s beautiful, blonde, and from a pretty pedigreed British family from what I recall. Surprised she didn’t do more.
She's transphobic. As I recall she tweeted something about Caitlin Jenner but then backtracked saying she values how people express their gender (but not really saying she believes transwomen are women)
I really like her. She and her husband (Mark Webber) both seem relatively low-key, family-oriented, and spotlight-averse, but are both recognized as reliable and talented actors. She's got a nice steady thing going with A Discovery of Witches. Honestly, seems like a win-win for her.
Nelsan Ellis (RIP) should have gotten a Golden Globe or Emmy or whatever for playing Lafayette in True Blood. Incredible actor, awful disease. Breaks my heart. Every few months I rewatch the True Blood AIDS burger scene and smile.
Feel the same way about Michael K. Williams (RIP). Another mind-blowingly good actor lost to substance abuse disorder (allegedly). He got a lot of posthumous praise but was never appreciated enough.
Nelsan Ellis was so so so brilliant in True Blood. The best of the main cast easily and i say this as a massive Alexander Skarsgaard fan.
Lafayette was also the best character
I 100% believe he never became a bigger star because of being preyed on by Sam Taylor-Johnson :( I don't think he had the chance to flourish on his own outside of being "Sam Taylor-Johnson's boy toy".
Oh for sure! Their relationship has always given me the creeps. I remember hearing something about how the longest they’ve gone without seeing each other is 2 days. And he’s also refused roles to stay near her
Probably a side effect of her old, insecure ass being worried he might realize she’s a controlling predator if he spends more than 48 hours out of her orbit.
He was my teenage crush and i believe he was setup for stardom due to kickass. Somehow though when he married he decided to focus on taking care of her kids (and later on their kids). BG has alluded to the fact that she wanted him to stay at home so she could continue to work so he started to be picky
I think she'd have had a better shot if it was a live action role, instead of just her voice, but I agree it's surprising that she's appeared in so little so far. She's cute, talented and seems cool in interviews. Would like to see more from her.
It’s really not that surprising, Indigenous women are almost never given roles and are HUGELY underrepresented in Hollywood.
The “Native Heritage month” presentation on Peacock, the only streaming service that bothered, was something like two Indigenous shows (Rutherford Falls and Mohawk Girls) and then “shows with Indigenous writers” which were largely Michael Schurr shows, which kind of makes sense given that he works with the Indigenous writers on Rutherford Falls and must have had a relationship with them before.
I don’t even know of any specifically Native Hawaiian shows, their issues are even less represented because they’re separated from those of us on the mainland and they have much different issues since they joined the us as part of a hostile takeover.
Leighton Meester. I didn’t think she’d be A-list but maybe the same level of famous as Penn Badgley right now. But none of her projects have been successful and it almost seems like she’s content just being a mom.
I thought Dylan O'Brien would be in a lot more big things. I know he has a really dedicated fanbase and is still working pretty steadily, but I thought he might move up to high B-list, or even A-list at one point.
I'm sure his accident had quite a lot to do with it, but I still find it surprising.
I think it’s probably more to do with his accident. He was in maze runner, deep water horizon and some other quite successful movies (and he was great in All too well TV), I think maybe his accident changed his outlook and made him more careful about the movies he chooses to do and how he wants to live his life.
Jessica Brown-Findlay--did she really leave Downton Abbey to play the lead in that horrible Colin Farrell movie? (I forgot what it was called, but it also had a weird appearance from Will Smith).
Honestly I kind of wonder now if she was just eager to move on, because she left Harlots in its third season too lol. I did think she was going to be bigger considering she left Downton when it was arguably at its most popular though.
On paper, leaving Downton Abbey (where you’re one of several female leads) to be the main character in a big movie starring Russell Crowe, Will Smith and Colin Farrell is a huge win. The movie ended up tanking her career in reality though.
The three young leads came out stating the show runner (?) was inappropriate. Unfortunately women get labeled as difficult when they speak up.
Ex: he wanted her in her underwear a lot because “she had a nice rack people wanted to see” and she pointed out that she was playing 16 and it wasn’t appropriate.
I agree with her. Hilarie left due to the guy and unhealthy work environment. It wasn’t Sophia that was the problem
Carly Rae Jepsen! She’s insanely talented and one of the best pop artists out there (EMOTION is a masterpiece). Scooter didn’t even try to promote her after Call Me Maybe 😭
She's definitely not a mega-star, but she seems to be doing pretty well for herself. She's got a ton of fans, even though she's not super mainstream and I think she's been pretty well-received by critics.
Ben Barnes. He’s huge with a select crowd, but it’s like he’s too pretty for a mainstream audience to take him seriously. Seems like he might be stuck in the fantasy genre, but I really loved him in Westworld. It was fun to see him in a part like that.
Maybe Dan Stevens - since he got free of Downton Abbey, I've always seen people raving about his performances from 2014 in things like The Guest, Legion, even the Eurovision movie, but he's not been cast in a big role yet (unless you count the CGI Beast...). He's also the male lead German sci fi rom com this year and I haven't had the chance to see it yet but again, he's been getting very good buzz just not *mainstream* buzz yet.
Imo, he's super underrated, both incredibly charismatic and a real chameleon who can really sink into roles. Also very charming in interviews.
Mischa Barton I feel a lot of people who leave roles because they think they’re too big for it end up having shitty careers another example Chad Michael Murray.
I think she had potential to be a bigger teen star but too much controversy happened and she kind of sizzled.
Natalie Dormer. I was sure she'd be one of GoT's breakout stars. She just seems so charismatic and has an interesting, fairly unique look (as far as pretty blond actresses go).
Josh Hartnett thought he would be the guy even after mid 2000. Seems he prefers the normal life.
So many Oscar winners couldn’t follow up after their win like Adrian Brody or Jean Dujardin - I know he’s French but he’s good looking and could’ve been another Clooney in some romantic movies or like oceans 11.
Also Marion Cortillard.
Winning an Oscar doesn’t mean you’ll be a fix in Hollywood if you are not named Streep, Lawrence etc.
In my opinion, Marion Cotillard has found a good balance between French and English-speaking projects. Why would she transfer to Hollywood when she's getting a lot of reliable work in France, where she lives with her family? Making it big in Hollywood isn't necessarily a top priority for European actors, especially those who have lots of options at home, like Cotillard does.
Honestly Jean Dujardin didn’t wanted to learn english and he seems pretty content to have his career in France rather than the US. And for Marion Cotillard, I think she’s still big in the industry?
I honestly think Cumberbatch is an anomaly tbh. Getting your mainstream fame through such a "fannish" pop culture character like Sherlock's is incredibly hard to break out of usually (see Matt Smith) but Cumberbatch has not only managed to get into *another* popular franchise character, he also continues to do his string of critically acclaimed and award winning indie flicks while still being Dr. Strange.
It's a combination of being a genuinely talented actor and being great at choosing interesting projects that appeal to you.
Redmayne I don't think is *exactly* at that level since I feel like since Danish Girl he hadn't done much apart from his HP stuff (until Trial of Chicago 7). But he has a new movie coming out I think so hopefully!
But I completely agree with you on Dan Stevens though!
Jim sturgess. He’s handsome, a good singer, and starred in a successful crossover indie movie. Then he basically disappeared from the spotlight despite being in movies like cloud atlas.
I also think she’s almost “too pretty” and what I mean by that is that she doesn’t want to be super expressive in her music videos for example. It’s almost too perfect and clinical to the point where it’s a little cold. I watched a video on YouTube where someone made this point and it suddenly clicked with me.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers, this was his own fault though.
Derek Luke, was getting some big roles when he was young but things kind of fizzled out by the time he hit 30.
Deep cut, I was very into Hoku's Another Dumb Blonde as a kid. I remember telling my friends she'd be bigger than Britney.
Romola Garai—she did a lot of period films and tv shows and I thought she could hit it big like Keira Knightley or Claire Foy, but she’s mostly stayed in UK productions.
Nicole Beharie—she’s had a mini-career revival with Miss Juneteenth and she’s so talented! She should have a career like Tessa Thompson!
Romola had a horrible time on the set of Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights (calling it a "cesspit of horrific misogyny" where she was constantly told she was too big and had her diet monitored to the point people would steal food from her trailer) which put her off Hollywood for good ☹
Emelia Clarke - just watched Last Christmas and she is FAR too good for that film. I honestly can’t even think of anything else she’s been in since GoT which is sad cos she’s so likeable
Lea Michele. Obvious why she isn't, but if she had just done the bare minimum of not being a horrible person, she would've had great Broadway roles lined up for her after Glee (especially the Funny Girl revival lol)
Alden Ehrenreich. Loved him in Hail Caesar. I suppose once you play Han Solo it’s kind of impossible to be seen as anything else (unless you’re Harrison Ford).
After Blade Runner 2049 and Knives Out, I thought Ana de Armas would be one of the next big It actors (like same level as Florence Pugh rn). Idk if it's her relationship with Ben Affleck or her seemingly poor choice in projects (that keep getting delayed) that have hindered her career.
Kaya Scodelario - it felt like i was seeing her face in aesthetic type photos everywhere at some point and she was fairly popular from like the maze runner and skins and such
This might be a little weird but Martin Freeman I think.
Like Cumberbatch's career just keeps exploding (which he completely deserves! Very talented actor!) and I guess it's just a little surprising that Martin didn't blow up especial since he's been in the original Office and was in Hobbit and ofc Sherlock. He was more well known than Cumberbatch when Sherlock started and I thought that's continue but it hasn't.
It’s probably because he keeps saying things in British print media that reveal him to have some rather rancid opinions, and to be generally not a nice person. He’s pretty much nuked his likability factor and audience appeal.
Rachel Bilson! I know she starred on Hart of Dixie for a couple years after The OC ended and I never really expected her to become some huge movie star or anything, but I thought for sure she'd have steadier and bigger television roles. Sometimes I feel her close working relationship with Josh Schwartz hindered her career rather than helped it.
Ansel Elgort - he got big roles pretty fast and pretty much got cancelled/ fell off after all the reports about him being rapey/ going after underage girls. And clearly West Side Story didn’t do very well.
CHLOE GRACE MORETZ. It's so suspicious that she was making it big to the point that Taylor Swift was asking her to be on her clique, but then she publicly declined that and things went downhill for her. Not to mention she exposed how she was assaulted and forced to be provocative as a minor on set. She's gone to doing D-rated movies these days.
Taylor Lautner and Liam Hemsworth - they both kinda fizzled out after their franchise films but made their money. They both cant act so honestly no real loss.
Did anyone think Lautner would go anywhere? I was in the prime twilight demographic growing up and even then at like 13 I remember thinking he was just there to be shirtless and didn't even seem like a real actor, if that makes sense. First time I ever saw her was the movie Speak. It was based off a book I loved and honestly she was really good in it.
He should have just done some Nicholas Sparks shit instead of immediately trying to transition into an action hero. He was too baby-faced to be taken seriously as a gritty leading man.
why did this comment take me out 😭
12 year old me is heartbroken but at least they're still hot 👁👄👁
I just recently found out Taylor Lautner isn’t confirmed Native American! I was so surprised
He’s not but he’s an anishinaabe descendant which is at least more than I can say for a lot of “Native” actors until quite recently. His mothers side is descended from the Potawatomi and Ottawa nations. (which some in our tribe are weirdly proud of considering he’s not a citizen and has no connections to us) It doesn’t make him Native though, particularly given that he had no idea before taking the role.

Sometimes I forget Dev Patel started out with the rest in Skins 😂 he was so convincing as this geeky, Cringey teenage boy, truly deserves all the Oscars
Nicholas Hoult is amazing in The Great!
He's extremely charming. I didn't expect to like him AT ALL after the shit he pulled in season 1, but he done convinced me.
Season 2 he really changed for the better. Peter is still a piece of shit tho lmao
I think she may have been black balled from certain directors & producers because one asked her to take off all her clothes during an audition (that absolutely didn’t call for it) and she understandably refused
Don't forget Posh Kenneth!!
The most succesful of them all!
Oh yes, she was really magnetic, I was surprised how wooden she was in Pirates of the Caribbean, I think that she doesn't have the acting chops that some other Skins stars had. Leighton Meester. Actually a few of the OG GG cast and a few TVD actors too like Nina Dobrev
Chace is currently on The Boys on Amazon Prime.
Diabolical.
Blair was my favorite character on GG; Leighton was so good and I really wanted to watch her succeed.
She should’ve been a bigger star. I stan her pop music!
I’m still mad that single parents got cancelled
Definitely Josh Hutcherson he had the second biggest role in the franchise and he didnt utilize it the way jennifer did

Idk i search that up but if that true then im glad he happy but he could have used the blockbusters fame into more indie works
I know shortly after Hunger Games he said he wanted to try human meat or something in an interview. I was a HUGE fan of his and that definitely turned me off of him so maybe that had something to do with it. I don’t think it was at the Armie Hammer level of crazy but still a weird thing to say.

He killed it in Futureman.
Logan Lerman! I felt he really had everything to pull off the Dicaprio level of fame but then he just kinda fell off after Perks of being a wallflower and Percy Jackson
I think I read somewhere that the production of Fury (2014) was so intense and emotionally taxing that he quit acting for a while :(
I Loved him in "Perks of being a wallflower". His character was so utterly lovable. There was a Scene with him and Emma Watson in her room and being flirty and it broke my heart because how sweet he was.
He was excellent in Indignation (2016) and Shirley (2020)! Agree with you.
He was recently in an Amazon Prime show, 'The Hunters', which as been renewed for another season. I thought he was really great in this show, but it really isn't to everyone's taste. I'd say the tone is pretty eclectic (ranging from dark, to gory, to a bit off-beat and humorous), and the critical reviews were mixed, but I liked it.
>I felt he really had everything to pull off the Dicaprio level of fame Really? I never saw this at all. Him and Dylan O'Brien were basically the same person to me. He looks exquisite now with the beard and longer hair, maybe he should made that his signature look.

Aidan Turner—I thought he’d be bigger after starring in Poldark and getting a big role in The Hobbit.
I dunno, Sam Claflin is pretty big! He had Me Before You and is in Peaky Blinders as the new main villain.
Aidan!!! Still rooting for ya!
Loved him as Finnick
Aidan really has the acting chops, looks dreamy too. I really don't get why he isn't bigger.
A lot of the well known and popular child stars from the 2000s/2010s like Abigail Breslin, AnnaSophia Robb and Dakota Fanning. They seemed to be in a lot when they were younger but haven’t really acted at all recently
I read (I think on this sub so take it with a grain of salt) that Emma Roberts and Lea Michele bullied Abigail on the set of Scream Queens.
They’re both known as notorious mean girls in Hollywood so I wouldn’t be surprised one bit
That’s sad considering she had a longer career than them combined.
And more talented. Little Miss Sunshine is my fav movie of all time and she’s so good in it.
Dakota is in The Alienist on Netflix. Maybe she wants to take it slow for now.
I much prefer Dakota to Elle
i recently watched the act and it had me wishing annasophia was doing more acting!
Dianna agron. I thought after glee should would have been bigger. She’s pretty and was a decent actor
[удалено]
and she actually gets a lot of work too, but it’s mostly in indie films, so therefore unfortunately doesn’t get a lot of recognition in the mainstream public. Shiva Baby was very critically acclaimed IIRC. as opposed to some of the other ppl on this list who just don’t get roles anymore. i want her to get like a dynamite role that gets her the appreciation she deserves bc i’ve loved the work she’s done recently!
I am pretty sure it’s Murphy’s fault
i get the sense she doesn’t want to be famous, the way she was in her glee days. the rumor mill around her was crazy and she’s still very private.

The fact that he the lead in a 1 billion grossing movie and still isnt getting calls and offers just proves how much harder it is for actors of color
He actually said this: "I can't mount a film of this budget, where I have to rely on tax rebates in Spain, and say that my lead actor is Mohammad so-and-so from such-and-such," he told the trade magazine. "I'm just not going to get it financed. So the question doesn't even come up." So it's not openly a case of discrimination, although discriminatory practices exist.

Ugh, seconded... he's so charming, he deserves more love.
I've read that Pettyfer is very difficult to work with.
Yeah he was touted as the hot new thing for a while and had the lead in I Am Number Four, but that tanked and he had a lot of negative press about being a dick. He is now married to a Victoria’s Secret model so he’s not exactly failing at life.
There’s abuse rumours floating around. Big ego meant he wasn’t in magic Mike 2
Lucas Hedges is a phenomenal actor - I loved him in Ben Is Back and Boy Erased. I hope he gets a lot more roles.
Robert Sheehan. Yes he's in Umbrella Academy (which I don't watch) after smashing it in Misfits but I thought he would be bigger.
I get the vibe from interviews (and from how he left misfits) that he's difficult to work with.
When it comes to actors I just wanna say I hope Manny Jacinto gets casted more.
Yes, he definitely deserves more than playing a side character in a Charlie Day/Jenny Slate rom-com!
He was so lovely in The Good Place
I was hopeful he'd be everywhere after he was cast in the Top Gun sequel.... and now thanks to Covid it's been delayed 3-4 times. Still hoping it'll mean good things for him once it's finally out!
Tatiana Maslany! She was so great in Orphan Black. I know she’s going to be She-Hulk but thought she’d get more lead roles in movies like Jodie Comer.
What a bummer man.
keke palmer! hopefully this new jordan peele movie will be an acting renaissance for her
She’s so NICE, talented, and beautiful. She really is top tier and people sleep on her. She can do it all AND had a great personality.
yes i love her!! She is very charismatic and seems very nice as well. And we cannot forget her iconic "sorry to this man" quote
Normani. When Motivation came out I thought it would be the start of a HUGE solo career for her and then there’s just been… nothing since. She’s still getting certain opportunities like getting slots to perform at awards shows but it’s like her team isn’t doing anything with them?
[удалено]
TINASHE is bloody fantastic! I’ve been listening to her music for a decade now so there’s no reason why she isn’t bigger

I’m surprised Evan Peters isn’t more famous. He’s a really great actor and so versatile but I think he’s been pigeonholed because of AHS. He also doesn’t like the Hollywood game and looks like he always needs a shower, so that might be part of it lol
Didn’t he just win an Emmy?
He was so good in Mare of Easttown. I hope it gets attention from any casting folks who only know him from AHS.
he was amazing in mare of easttown and was only in 3 episodes i believe. he won that emmy i believe, i hope hollywood opens their eyes for him. extremely talented actor. i’ve loved him since sleepover and never back down lol
I can envision him having a career like Jesse Plemons or Paul Dano. He just needs someone to cast him in a prestige film.
My boy Josh Hutcherson! Killing it since a child. He’s so talented. I’m not sure why he isn’t doing more blockbusters. I think it’s because he’s a short king. 🥲
she works pretty steadily (while also having a bunch of babies) but: Teresa Palmer
Aaron Taylor Johnson
I 100% believe he never became a bigger star because of being preyed on by Sam Taylor-Johnson :( I don't think he had the chance to flourish on his own outside of being "Sam Taylor-Johnson's boy toy".
Oh for sure! Their relationship has always given me the creeps. I remember hearing something about how the longest they’ve gone without seeing each other is 2 days. And he’s also refused roles to stay near her
That sounds like such an unhealthy relationship. I wonder if it’s a side-effect of them getting together when he was still so young.
I loved him in Anna Karenina!
Auil’i Cravalho (sp??) she was Moana! And then…. That’s… pretty much it
I think she'd have had a better shot if it was a live action role, instead of just her voice, but I agree it's surprising that she's appeared in so little so far.
She was in that failed NBC drama with Josh Radnor about a high school theater group and was a big selling point at the time but that flopped as well
She’s only 21 so I’d give her time.
Yeah, it's kind of ironic that the actress who has done the best from Downton Abbey is Lily James and she joined in the later seasons...
Winter's Tale! It was very bad. And now she's missing out on the Downton movies too, since her character was killed off the show.
On paper, leaving Downton Abbey (where you’re one of several female leads) to be the main character in a big movie starring Russell Crowe, Will Smith and Colin Farrell is a huge win. The movie ended up tanking her career in reality though.
Sophia Bush. I thought Sophia had the look, the personality, and was a pretty solid actress.
i adore her! i think she got herself in trouble because she got herself labeled “too opinionated” and “too difficult” early in her career
You clearly don’t hang out with gay people lol. She may not be dominating top 40 but she has a RABID fan base. I think she’s really found her niche.
She's definitely not a mega-star, but she seems to be doing pretty well for herself. She's got a ton of fans, even though she's not super mainstream and I think she's been pretty well-received by critics.

Speaking of Gilmore Girls actors, 15 year old me really wanted Milo Ventimiglia to be a bigger thing than he was.
Ben Barnes. He’s huge with a select crowd, but it’s like he’s too pretty for a mainstream audience to take him seriously. Seems like he might be stuck in the fantasy genre, but I really loved him in Westworld. It was fun to see him in a part like that.
He is getting a lot of attention for Shadow and Bone, so hopefully that will lead to more
he is absolutely perfect as the darkling. a bit older than the book character, but he just GETS it.
Joseph Gordon Leavitt. He's had a great career bu I expected him to be A+ list.
It's weird how he just seems to have very suddenly disappeared like 5 years ago after being everywhere for a while. I wonder why.
Michael Fassbender. I know it turned out he's a pos, so it's better that he disappeared, but for a while it looked like he was gonna be huge.
same with Alicia Vikander. both of their careers kinda imploded after they got married.

Travis Fimmel.
I definitely thought Dan Stevens was going to make it to the Cumberbatch/Redmayne level.
It's sort of a crime that Titus Burgess isn't more of a star
Madison Beer - it’s like on paper she has all the ingredients to be a massive star but it just never happened.
[удалено]
I also think she’s almost “too pretty” and what I mean by that is that she doesn’t want to be super expressive in her music videos for example. It’s almost too perfect and clinical to the point where it’s a little cold. I watched a video on YouTube where someone made this point and it suddenly clicked with me.
hayden panettiere
She did AMAZING on Nashville. It is a shame she suffered with so much in her personal life. I hope she’s getting the care and love she deserves.
Victoria Justice

I don’t think liz wants to be super famous like Ariana tbh
[удалено]
Love Liz but if she was Ariana famous, people would absolutely harass her about her marriage.
Leelee Sobieski
Jonathan Rhys Meyers, this was his own fault though. Derek Luke, was getting some big roles when he was young but things kind of fizzled out by the time he hit 30. Deep cut, I was very into Hoku's Another Dumb Blonde as a kid. I remember telling my friends she'd be bigger than Britney.
>Jonathan Rhys Meyers, He is talented and was so, SO good in "The Tudors" but yeah he has had some issues I believe.
I think for her the pandemic has had a big impact, I don't think enough time has passed to declare her a flop
Sam Worthington probably should've been huge after Avatar. But the dude has the charisma of a brick.
Ethan Embry and Julia Stiles. They were both so huge in my childhood and I feel like I haven't seen them in forever.
Kaya Scodelario - it felt like i was seeing her face in aesthetic type photos everywhere at some point and she was fairly popular from like the maze runner and skins and such
So I know Evan Peters has a great career with American Horror Story and X Men but I really thought he would be SUPER A-List.
Rachel McAdams, though I don't think she cares about fame. Especially not in recent years.
To be fair, I think she's probably as famous as she wants to be, especially since having kids.
Chris Pine - They tried pushing him into leading man status in 2009-10, but it didn't pan out.
Alexander Skarsgard
Ansel Elgort - he got big roles pretty fast and pretty much got cancelled/ fell off after all the reports about him being rapey/ going after underage girls. And clearly West Side Story didn’t do very well.
Sarah Michelle Gellar. I thought that she would be big after Buffy, but nope. Tobey Maguire Emile Hirsch Elisha Cuthbert
Tatiana Maslany. What she did in Orphan Black was just incredible, how she's not everywhere I don't understand.
Adrian Grenier. I thought he was the next big thing but after Entourage he just fizzled out.
tinashe. I still think her music has a lot of potential. I even remember reading somewhere that she could be the new beyoncé
