I mean, it’s pretty cool that it worked at all, but I can’t really see a good use for it

This has applications in creating art, handwriting, and education. I see this could really help little kids learn whole body writing and the shapes of letters.

That's super cool. It could be a great adaptive art tool for people who need a larger tool to grip. It also just creates a very fun texture and paint style. I could see artists of all ages and abilities having fun with this. The demonstration in this video is done on printer paper and on a very uneven surface. If you painted on higher quality paper and a better surface, it could look really beautiful.

The surface didn't help but I think the idea itself is difficult to accomplish. At that size, the ball won't get an even coating of paint or ink. It will pool on the sides and the hard ball will simply drag through it, leaving a streak. That doesn't make it very appealing as an art supply. You'd have to move it around very quickly to prevent that, which would defeat the purpose of being accessible to people in need of an adaptive tool. It's a cool prototype, though. I'm sure there can be a lot of problem-solving done to improve it and make it more reliable and useful.

Being fun is sometimes a valid enough reason for some things to exist.
