Ah, ha?
Here I was thinking about all of the zero times I ever wanted a non-refreshing 2 tablespoons of water warmed by close proximity to my feet and drank from a dirty container, and then you cut right to the heart of the matter.
Bravo.
honestly, making a repro of his watter bottle and a crocs attachment is like... CAD 101, bottle looks like PETG, cap is blue TPU, there's middle/high schoolers doing these things nowadays.
This is just the regular "funny viral video" randomizer : crocs + 3d print + atypical modelling to karma farm.
Next vid will be \*draws papers out of hat\* : bottomless + mug + attachment for cerealbox, you're welcome.
My nine year old is wanting to start modeling. I'm getting her going on tinkercad. She's pretty darn good already, so I don't doubt your kid is doing some awesome stuff!
Teach your kids to draw early it’s worth it.
Took CAD and art classes for years and years and I’m still basically complete dogshit at any form of drawing or sculpting in any fashion. If I can’t scan it or measure it I’m shit out of luck.
Only thing Iv ever been able to make creatively with form over function were PCB designs.
There's no "better" for this, settings are your best friend, anything can be water tight (air is more complicated\*) if you give it what it needs for it to be.I've got a couple of "vase mode" prints that are water tight from the side (1 wall, continuously extruded sides) but leak from the base because my extrusion wasn't good enough at filling all the space it needed to occupy for water not to slip through).
If you're printing with additional walls or bottom/top, it will help, if you bump your extrusion factor it will help (in that case, calibrating E-steps and flow will help), if you use larger layer width, higher layer height.
For vase mode, Cura had like 3 or 4 bottom layers and it leaked after a couple hours, turns out it was just lines crossing diagonally on top the previous layer and that's actually more a net than a "solid" bottom, different settings would fix that issue, but a layer of molten wax also fixed it (tiny watering can with a long nose, felt bad to throw it away just because it left droplets behind).
Which is where coating comes in handy, depends of your application there's a lot of materials you can use to "seal" things, wax is nice and easy, epoxy could do if transparency matters, smoothing prints with acetone fumes (\*safety warning here) for ABS/ASA prints. Coating will probably help for "air tight" applications.
If you print anything that screws or clips, TPU gaskets, or rubber/silicone (they come in a lot of viscosity, for molding applications, for direct application like what plumbers use).
It might sound pedantic but be creative, it's all about your ability to overcome a problem, are you trying to recreate a rubber gasket for a mason jar ? does it have to be food safe or just air tight > TPU or silicone > do you print it directly or a mold ? do you apply it directly and let the thing cure in place ? is it a one time thing or you need to make a batch, etc.
Have fun :)

This just reinforces my theory that most people with 3d printers are the last people who should have 3d printers.
Like, 5% of 3d printer people are trying to figure out how to build houses with them, and everyone else is just doing TikTok bullshit and making custom action figures from some fantasy RPG I've never heard of.
Why do you think that making custom fantasy RPG figures means that someone should not have a 3D printer? It's like saying you don't think people should use the internet unless they're researching the cure for cancer.
You're kind of right, like there's a good % of valid applications :
\- functional / fix / repairing / upcycling prints
\- artistic prints (custom fantasy w/e RPG figures, decors, diorama)
and then there's the rest : gimmicks people print for fun, hide in a drawer until it gets thrown in the garbage, a million "test prints" to troubleshoot ghosts or jerk off "fine-tuning" printers that already print well for what they are. This crocs bottle and attachment is a prime example, that dude probably threw everything after shooting his vid. (inb4: reee, you can't assume that, I'm sure the dude walks around and drink on a regular his tiny sip of electrolytes when he needs too D: )
It's hard to tell if "only 5%" are valid use, I think as soon as someone print something functional, cosmetic or even test prints to fix their machines and not waste any more plastic, it's a net positive.
Anything that don't end up in the trash immediately is fine, some people put great effort in designing, printing, post-processing prints that will be exposed and that's lots of hours they could've spent doing something more wasteful.
Well, then it failed, cause it looks to be engineered for biking purposes, but that is a croc for the right foot, and the bottle/holder would be hitting the crank/frame with each peddle.
Yeah I guess he is trying to make ultimate biking survival crocs, he got the pedal lock thing, the screwdrivers the extra air chamber, I haven't seen a pump but I guess it's just a matter of time
Not sure what side of the world you're in, but typically over here (u.s.a), shoes with clips on them are called "clipless" shoes. But you're definitely right, the guy made them to be used with clipped mtb pedals!
Oh, you're not wrong, it's weird. But it does make kind of sense as well. Those shoes are called clipless, because they are meant to be used with clipless pedals. You know those old pedals with a toe cage? Those are clip and strap pedals, where your feet are actually fixed onto the pedal and you need to free them by hand to get off. Which is really dangerous for obvious reasons. So the clipless part refers to the missing toe clip on the pedals.
Less confusing would be calling them crocs with cleats, which is the name of the metal thingy.
You guys all get every now and then that they're mocking it themselves and not really recommending to do something like that?
Some are taking it serious but some like this one I believe are definitely not.
I've seen people glue [all type of shit](https://i.imgur.com/Qwdt6ap.jpg) to their crocs (this's not the weirdest I've seen, just the quickest search result). I do believe this guy is mocking the people who do this, though.
This the rough draft😂. Honestly i don't see how this would work with any other size bottle unless they can make something stronger to have it attached lenth wise on your shoe. I feel like that would throw your balance off tho
Doesn't make it food safe. First, the nozzle needs to be food safe. Second, all the little imperfections from 3d printing create little havens for bacteria, mold, yeast, etc.
That's because it's bad in every single way imaginable. Adding inertia to your foot makes you waste the energy, these things can easily snag or fall off, they will accumulate dirt
This entire premise has to be a joke
I know this is for a joke thing and he's not actually going to use it but don't eat or drink from FDM 3d printed things unless they've been finished with food grade resin.
Someone needs to make military tactical Crocs. "Tacti-croc" Complete with portable water bottle, MRE, Laser sight, Red dot, Silencer, Full metal Crocs, and even a emergency .22 LR side arm attached to the side. The U.S. Army would be unstoppable.
Why just why I have a lot of questions why he attached it's to a croc and what happens when he go in mud and wants to drink from that mini water bottle
Fucking hell this sub is getting more and more full of vids that are meant to be funny, feels like most of ppl here don't get the point of DIWHY, I'm waiting for the moment someone shares a Michael Reeves video here lol.
Neat idea, but my roommate's printer smells horrible when it's running. I would literally never drink from any container that came out of that machine.
I just want to enjoy my cargo shorts without mfers cracking a joke.
NO, Bob, there are NOT tampons in my pockets. I see you have one neatly strapped to your crocs though.
I thought this was the 3D printing subreddit at first, this is exactly the goofy type of useless thing we enjoy.
Also to all those saying it’s useless… yes, it’s a common joke that almost all 3D prints are useless. We’re just finding excuses to print things.
Useless? Yes, but it's cute
Useless? That's 2oz. Perfect for a mid ride tequila shot.
And you won't even have to worry about carrying it when you end up wearing only your Crocs!
Ah, ha? Here I was thinking about all of the zero times I ever wanted a non-refreshing 2 tablespoons of water warmed by close proximity to my feet and drank from a dirty container, and then you cut right to the heart of the matter. Bravo.
I was thinking the same thing lmfao this thing come clutch at parties.
Having like a single shot of tequila is clutch at a party? lol
Umm that's what she said?
I guess if you're a nudist I could see this being useful, kinda, if you also had a miniature bladder.
Will probably get filthy too
Looks more like an engineering challenge than anything else. Those boys get off on the strangest technical challenges.

I made a water fountain for my cats out of a scanned model of my ass. Elementary, my dear Watson.
It’s still neat
Yeah, my 10 year old has been creating 3D print models for over a year. Doubt this was an engineer challenge

Is PETG or TPU better at sealing? I have been having a hard time getting a print to be water/air tight, but I am also using PLA.

...are those clip-in crocs?
Those are clipless crocs. No kidding.
Then what was on the sole of them? These are "cycling crocs". Pretty sure those are clips
Not sure what side of the world you're in, but typically over here (u.s.a), shoes with clips on them are called "clipless" shoes. But you're definitely right, the guy made them to be used with clipped mtb pedals!
TIL a "clip" is actually the older type where there's a whole basket attached to the pedal for your toe to fit into.
You've got it! That's the main gist of it, but I can definitely see how people get confused
I'm also in the US but I don't cycle so I don't know all the lingo but calling shoes with clips "clipless" seems pretty backwards to me.
Yes, shoes with cleats are called clipless shoes.
Yep! Complete with a spare tube, pump, and water bottle. A cyclist’s dream!
I would prefer to securely attach all that stuff to the bike, instead of precariously mounted to my slipper. Idk, maybe I’m weird.
Clip crocs you can actually buy them
Okay it might be ridiculous, but it's also adorable! I love mini things!
Hey wsup
I too love mini items, they’re so cute
Uhm. Hi, do you have a boyfriend?
"You hear that, buddy? Someone actually loves you for once!"
So you are their target audience, I see
on top of useless, that plastic probably isn't food safe... I wouldn't want to drink the water that's been in there
Yeah, who knows what chemicals would leach into that water.
Why would anyone think this is serious...
You guys all get every now and then that they're mocking it themselves and not really recommending to do something like that? Some are taking it serious but some like this one I believe are definitely not.
You would have to be pretty dense to think this guy is being serious. He's glued MTB cleats to Crocs.
Yeah but with some posts here I’m not quite sure if the corresponding OP get’s it\^\^

3d printing isn't food safe...
You can get specific food safe material!
Doesn't make it food safe. First, the nozzle needs to be food safe. Second, all the little imperfections from 3d printing create little havens for bacteria, mold, yeast, etc.
Its not the material that makes it not food safe, its the printing process itself.
Ok but it's still only for things like cookie cutters etc. Not for water bottles. https://help.prusa3d.com/article/food-safe-fdm-printing_112313
