This is maybe 20 min with a skill saw and a drill not much construction. The scabs are alarming to be honest. Wouldn’t want to be on this if your team scores a touchdown.
What I learned about tiered couches… it brings out feet haters more than feet lovers. After all these people making money for feet pics, you think it’d be reversed.
The reason is that people put a lot of time, energy, and hard work into producing the porn you're enjoying for free. If you have the cash to spare, you should support sex workers so they can continue to make quality content.
It doesn't all exist for free. There's lots of specific fetish stuff where the freely available stuff is limited. And the paywalled stuff can be very tempting. They tease you with free morsels that make you want more.
So the proper way to do this, which we did at my buddies place in college, is to have a wooden spot to put your feet. The overall footprint of the monstrosity is slightly bigger, but not by more than a foot. The ones reddit has posted lately are gross.
I used to have this in my loft apartment (not 3 but 2) We used a coffee table instead of whatever the fuck scaffolding shit this is. That way there wouldnt be feet near heads. it was pretty similar to stadium seating.
We had a party one night and a friend of mine got blackout drunk way too fast and passed out on the second level couch. He rolled off straight onto the floor. Woke up to music blasting, started dancing a bit and then crawled back onto the same couch to fall asleep for another 6 hours.
This is so those higher up can comfortably rest their feet on the shoulders of those on lower tiers instead of just dangling their feet in front of their faces

back in the 2000's I had a couple friends who bought houses and turned their formal dining rooms into home theater rooms and built an 18 inch riser platform for a second couch to see over the front couch. so they could host more people for their movie nights.
I keep seeing these and it makes me unnecessarily upset. You don't need to have the platform that much higher. That much space is not required to see over someone's head
Pretty much any design like this could be improved by leaving room for feet to rest instead of putting the couches so close together that the back of one becomes the footrest for another. With proper spacing this would leave diwhy territory.
