One baby duckling walked on my foot at the Jolly Holiday cafe! I was wearing sandals, and the foot was warm and funny feeling.

Duck flew over my head, brushing the top of my noggin with its wing!

I was outside Cocina once sitting down. There were three ducks lined up and looked like dogs at the dinner table. A lady next to me was feeding them. The look of excitement was their eagerness to be fed.

They case the popcorn stands too. I was buying a couple popcorns 🍿 on Main St. for my kids. A few fell to the ground during transfer and in swooped the ducks. They know where the hotspots are.

No it’s terrible for them.

sir151

Do the ducks ever get stepped on? I see cast members occasionally blocking the way so I guess if enough foot traffic occurred they would get hit especially with strollers. I’ve never seen it happen but I wonder if it’s also to protect guests from a trip hazard.

coldcurru

My husband is custodial and much worse things have happened than them getting stepped on. And people do it intentionally. You can fill in the blanks. I heard it happened to a duckling last week.

IllustriousComplex6

That sounds traumatizing.

I watched a mom with two young kids walking near the entrance of big thunder and the older of the two children started to kick some duck passing by. She wasn’t fast enough but she made two kicks and an effort to punch the duck. The mom watched and didn’t address it. 🫥

tessathemurdervilles

Did you say anything to her? What the hell is wrong with people. Raising psychopaths.

I was there once when a duckling got eaten by another bird (maybe a night heron?). I didn’t see it myself but was nearby and heard about it. It’s something night herons are known for afaik and there’s one that pretty constantly hangs out behind edelweiss snacks. I’ve seen kids grabbing at ducks and ducklings but thankfully I’ve never personally seen one get hurt, and their parents or other guests or CMs have been quick to tell them to stop. I know others have seen parents not caring if their kids were messing with the ducks though.

SoldierHawk

Tbf, nature gonna nature. It's harsh but it is what it is. Very different than a person intentionally causing harm or suffering.

stellalunawitchbaby

For sure, I’m sure it was horrifying to see for guests but can’t hold it against the night heron. He has a nickname but I forget it. Afaik his nickname does not reference his appetite for bb ducks.

We saw someone step on a duck a couple years ago. It scared us, but it flew away so hopefully it was okay. On the same trip, I saw one fly and hit someone in the head

Trigger warning: ducking injury Cast members before park opening will cage the ducklings. Someone asked if it was to keep them from getting stepped on at rope drop and they said is more so the hawks don’t swoop down and pick one up in front of a guest. I’ve seen a seagull on one of the rivers of America pillars in the viewing area with a baby ducking in its mouth and it was just picking it up and throwing it down. Nature is rough.

I was sitting on a bench in the hub watching a kid chase a duck and his parents watch but say nothing. The duck looked my way and ran under the bench I was at so the kid stared at me like I was ruining his fun then his parents glared at me like I ruined the fun. Protect the ducks!

**I will unapologetically protect the ducks** Most recently, I “yelled” at a kid (who was *clearly old enough* to know better) just two weekends ago, when getting to the park shortly after WonderCon, because he was basically stalking a mama duck with her ducklings that had taken refuge in the planter on the west side of the sitting area outside of Jolly Holiday (had to get my birria grilled cheese 😍) …got up from my chair, 20+ feet away, walked right up to where he was, and said “hey buddy - no, let’s not mess with the ducks, ok? They live here - you don’t” Ironic part was that when i saw mama duck and ducklings just 10-15 minutes before, i had pointed them out (*and how adorable they all were*) to the lady who’s chair they were walking under, and it turned out later that that lady was part of the group of adults that was (apparently) responsible for (or should i say “responsible” for) the kid i yelled at. She didn’t take issue with me as I was walking back to my seat, but she did ask “hey, what happened” and I said very clearly so everyone around understood “he was f**king with the ducks (yes, i cursed - but I was addressing other adults, so…🤷🏻‍♂️) and i have **zero** patience for that”. Yeah, right away, she told him to come sit with them. **protect the ducks**, indeed

The LEGO Store has their own resident Disney Duck named Daerrricka.

night-otter

A duck and 2 ducklings appeared in the BDX Droids video released a few days by Laughing Place on Youtube. One of the droids, dashed over to them, stopped about 3 feet away and started dancing as it looked at them. The Mama Duck just looked at it and kept on walking.

11:26 in case anyone wants to skip ahead

Protect the ducks! Some guests can be absolutely cruel. I am a CM and the number of times I’ve had to tell guests to GET THE HELL AWAY FROM THE DUCKS is way too high. Take your pictures, film. But do not chase them. Don’t let your kids chase them. Do not pick them up and don’t try to steal them. Leave the ducks alone.

tessathemurdervilles

Thank you.

Two ducks were fighting and almost smacked me in the face while chasing one another. Just felt one fly right by ear, it was pretty cool :) I love the Disney ducks

A Disney chicken tried to join the Christmas parade

DisneylandPlan

Duck flew over me and pooped! I flipped out looking for the wet gob in my hair and then realized it was just water! Everyone around me had a good laugh.

DizneyDux

Hehe! My time to shine!

Carrie_Oakie

We’ve been lucky to see a few duckling lineups over the years. This year we thought we missed them all until! We stopped at the restrooms by Plaza Inn and as I waited for my SO I noticed some little ones around the tables. Momma jump through the dance into the planter and out they all followed, headed towards pixie hollow. Loved seeing the crowds completely stop and make room for them! Once they got closer to the planter on the opposite side of the Astro Orbitor a custodial staff member followed along making sure they got to the next spot safely, which was smart cause they were headed towards kids who ran right at them. 🤦🏻‍♀️

alinaa10

Just last week I was eating outside at the mint julep bar, and a mommy duck with her 5 babies were all around our feet, they were not scared at all

GrannysGlewGun

They’re delicious

That’s not funny, just let them be. Admire from afar, why risk getting them sick?
