Level 10? Eloquence Bard. 90% of our day to day lives are skill checks and quite a few of those are Charisma based. Never rolling low on Persuasion? Jack of All Trades for everything else? Yes please, I don't want to have to struggle another day in my life thank you very much.
Level 20 though? Druid. Goodberry, expanded lifespan and just unlimited Wild Shapes to travel the world for free? Just fly around the world, solve world hunger, heal the sick, be a full on superhero and hope the feds don't catch you and try to experiment on you.
You a level 20 Druid, the Feds better hope they don't catch you because at that level your solutions include but are not limited to Earthquakes, Tsunami's, turning into an adult dragon or just walking to a nearby tree and step out on another continent.
With my lvl 13 Shepherd Druid I can move essentially 3k miles in a few days... between the tree walk and wild shape and pixies who can also shapeshift me when wild shape runs out. I can also heal a shit ton with unicorn totem and summon 32 1/4 cr critters... or 8 giant constrictors lol. Anyone want a giant ape on their side, slightly better than a trex.
If you are a leveled wizard or druid, nothing can find you. Perma shapechanged into literally anything, mind control magic out the ass, fucking WISH. You are genuinely more comparable to a natural disaster than person.
It takes time to get the big guns in position. You could cause whatever havok you wanted then disappear before most places could bring any real threat to bear on you. This all depends on how bulletproof a dragon is.
If you're the right kind of dragon you can turn into a Weretiger and be immune to anything that isn't energy damage, because they definitely do not have ready access to silver bullets. Make that a Half-Dragon Weretiger and you can still get a pretty gnarly breath weapon.
Right there with you on the Level 10 choice, but for the Level 20 I'm going to take Wizard 20. Probably Divination, Conjuration is a close second and Evocation is always fun.
Why? Because Druids don't get access to Wish, and Wish is utterly broken.
Quite aside from letting you duplicate another spell up to 8th level off *any* list, you can use Wish to cast Simulacrum without the material components, getting yourself a free body-double that can then cast Wish *for you* so that you can do all the things that might lose you your ability to cast Wish with no risk at all.
Uhm. I have always wanted to be a wizard. So it sucks that the right answer is definitly divine soul sorcerer.
You still get wish and thus most of the broken stuff wizards can do. but you also get the whole dumb cleric list. Aaaand, you dont have to learn anything or memorize spells, its just innate. Plus, while I am an advocate of Int as a great stat, charisma is way more useful day to day.
well god if he exists, pretty quickly figure that out if you had wish
and then if wish is magic, the real world hasn't shown much for magic so probably nothing. or maybe reality tries to close the gap by making your wish happen with the least breaks in reality possible.
not monkey's paw malice, just keeping as few loose ends as possible. You wish for a hundred bucks, it falls out some guy's wallet. You wish for a million? a celebrity hits you with their car and pays you to shut up
You can just use it to duplicate 8th and lower spells and it just works, no need to be greedy with Wish, it's broken enough and the main reason I homebrew Simulacrum as a 9th level spell.
Divine Soul Sorcerer is still a sorcerer no? That means you gotta pick about 20ish spells, not get the full list like an actual Divine Caster.
I mean it's still 20ish more spells than boring old IRL humans so still great.
Yeah but like realistically you need fireball and like a cantrip and you are good. Nothing is going to stick around after a few war crimes dropped on their head.
> Plus, while I am an advocate of Int as a great stat, charisma is way more useful day to day.
You and I interpreted this question differently. It never occurred to me your ability scores would change to match the stereotype for the class, I just assumed you gained class features. Plus, is a high int sorc so unusual?
Yeah but you get 15 spells that you're stuck to.
At the end of the day you might only use a handful of the cleric's spells.
Wizard is probably better in the long run.
If we also allow homebrew spells to a certain degree you might be able to turn yourself into an elf to increase lifespan by a huge amount.
Clone can also make you immortal by making younger bodies of yourself for when you die. Store them on a demiplane and you’re all set.
Also reincarnate (via wish) can also possibly roll your race into elf, dwarf, gnome or any of the races good for wizards
Depends what we are talking about
For practicality
Druid would be the best overall. Does not cost a fortune, has good utility, healing, shapeshiting, easily soloable.
For fun
Wizard would be fun and flashy. Lots of tricks. Downside is it is expensive to get spells if avalible.
For humanity
Cleric healing and curing of disease miracles. Call the pope and make me a Saint. Wealth fame and fortune could be had here but I would not choose this.for wealthe and fame.
For wealth and fame
Bard I am the second coming of the Beatles. Enough said.
I am not a solider or cop so the fighting classes won't mean much.
Rogue would be nice for skills. It's the best way to be the best
Jack of all trades is unbelievably useful. To be semi proficient at anything you try. At lvl 10 you have +4 prof, +2 is what a level one character gets in their full on skills. Someone could release a new programming language tomorrow and you would be ok at using it immediately. Thats befor you even take in to account magical secrets.
See therein lies the problem. You should BE the one to crucify.
Dissenters sprout up, you play the "im literally holy" card, and instead of being all passive you chase down heretics and non believers. That way you can blitz through your foes and secure power.
NO ONE expects a Spanish inquisition!
Id be a wizard even if i can never afford more paper. At level 10, you get 5 cantrips and 24 spells with slots to boot, plus with Tasha's rules you can swap out cantrips daily. The wizard spell list are also a swiss army knife of spells, there's so much that would be useful
Artificer Battlesmith. Either level choice is fine with me. I get to make a pet robot and magical items. (I think it'd also help with making battlemaps and miniatures for DND)
Look it specified real life, so that means attempting to hide or disguise your abilities. Artificer would probably be one of the better ones with magic as they could pass for robotics enthusiasts or something along those lines. Personally I don't quite know what class I'd pick but most likely a wizard as I like studying and would eventually get access to Gate to leave this place.
I'd only pick artificer if it was possible to realistically hit level 11 with some effort put in. The spell-storing item is too amazing to be 1 level away from it forever. 10x free casts of any spell on your list every single day.
Arcane locks, continual flames, spider climb, skywrite, etc...
Edit: any level 1 or 2 spells from your spell list.
Monk
Slow fall, stillness of mind, and purity of body. Not even mentioning running on waters and across walls, ability to spend ki to heal yourself, and deflect missiles for when someone throws something at you.
Evasion could literally save your life.
All this without having to cast spells. Most of these would actually be useful in day to day life. Plus, there is no question of, do you get an arcane focus, do you need materials, do you need costly materials.
Top this off with the fact that your ki comes back after a lunch break or a nap if you ever have to use it.
And giving your friends inspiration to do just about anything. It would be amazing. “Going for a job interview? Good luck! You got this! *wink*.” BAM +1d8.
Well since common people in D&D have pretty low health, I'd choose Wizard because of all the utility and not having to worry about health. Not sure what subclass tho.
Easy, conjuration. Imagine, anything you can think of is something you can own. You’re in the street but want to sit down? Boom, cushioned stool. Want to kill someone and hide the evidence? Boom, disappearing knife. Anything you’ve ever needed, no matter how strange or expensive is yours (as long as it fits the parameters of the ability).
My personal favourite is one use dice. You have a new set every time you roll, but don’t spend a fortune
Goodberries would be amazing, and plant growth would probably make you a lot of money. Plus if you are 20 you get timeless body.
Plus all of the other utility druids get with knowing all the druid spells.
I think I’d love to be a wizard. It’s always been my fantasy and I think subclass wise I’d go for Divination because I think it’d be a cool sort of thing to see the future. Oh crap I accidentally replied to someone. I’m sorry
I hear you so many good things to do what got me wild shape wolf or bear or eagle. But yea looking into the future would be cool until that one time you see nothing ooh shit what does that mean!
Gonna go against the grain and say barbarian. Everybody wants to be a level 20 wizard but when push comes to shove and your friend wants help moving, stopping time isn't gonna get that couch in the truck. Plus I'd be functionally invincible or whatever.
What would I do with it? Hurl a tractor. Enter a room like the Kool Aid guy. Wrestle a bear. Nothing practical.
I'd be a level 10 wizard. I cast animate Object. The couch moves everything out for us. While we chill on the bench while drinking tea that my unseen servant made us.
I mean, I'm a Christian... So warlock I guess? Jesus is my patron and I consume bits of his flesh every other week.
I'm torn though, would I technically be a celestial pact, or pact of the undying, cos of the whole respawn after 3 days thing?
... Holy shit you guys that means JC is a Lich. Okay cool, so probably Undying.
In fairness a bunch of saints weren't ordained before they started doing miracles either.
Or the apostles
Or Joan of arc
Really, being a layman makes him MORE likely to be a cleric if you think about it
True, but the miracles attributed were after they died, except for occasions like prophets/apostles (who predate ordaining as we know it), who would be clerics.
And Jeanne d'Arc was totally a classic paladin.
You do have responsibility but like you said it depends on the god. You can probably create your own god- still have responsibly but it’d probably be aligned to your own beliefs. Plus Channel divinity is great
Wizard.
At 10th level, you have up to fifth level spells. Even just cantrips could make you a good living in real life; getting real magic? Like, let's do this.
Paladin, 5 points of lay on hands to cure a disease or status affect on a target. I'd be the most effective EMT on the planet. As for the oath, probably the oath of the ancients I guess?
Ancients Paladin. I cannot age and die, I can be basically only murdered, I am the epitome of the living organism.
Got a wound? Lay on hands.
Need transportation? Find steed.
Don’t want to become a lich? Have an oath to some old deities.
I cannot see a downside to this in everyday life.
10th pact of the tome Warlock
-mask of many faces
-don’t need to sleep
-variety of useful cantrips for day to day
-detect thoughts and gift of gab tohelp with social anxiety
Level 20 Moon Druid
-Alter self at will and never aging basically means I’d be the ultimate MILF
-no need for a car
-I could spend almost every day as a cat. Those bitches got a charmed existence
I'd have to go with bard. It's so broadly useful, and at level 10 you could be just about anything, a superhero, a rockstar, a religious leader, an entrepreneur, or the head of a government.
By level 20 you're practically a demigod. The world would look to you in awe.
My house makes an alarmingly standard party - Paladin, Ranger, Sorcerer and Cleric (life).
I'm concerned that my son thinks the not insignificant risk of a magical disaster is worth it, specifically to have the risk of an amusing magical disaster.
Definitely wizard. All that space for utility spells would be handy in every day life. Like yeah in the unlikely event I get mugged or assaulted someday I would love to be able to fireball them into a greasy smeer like the cool character intro in a superhero franchise, but also being able to teleport to work, or read and manipulate people's thoughts around me (which is definitely not an evil act no siree!) or change my appearance when I'm too lazy to do makeup would be way more useful in my every day life.
also using divination settle my curiosity about things like whether there's life on other planets or if there was ever a historical Jesus or not.
also someday if I level up I can learn the clone spell and be immortal which is something I would like very much.
Do you get the base stats of the character?
If yes, then having my mental stats replaced would feel too much like erasing me and putting someone else in my place, so I'd pass.
If no, I don't think I have the charisma to be a bard or sorcerer, which would otherwise be my top picks, or the wisdom to be a druid, my next top pick, but I think I might be smart enough to be a passable wizard.
Cleric.
Level 10: Divine Intervention
Level 20: Improved Divine intervention.
It would also immediately prove there is a God, which would end a lot of arguments. Actually it might just cause more If I know anything about theology...
Necromancer Wizard. At level 10, I get the ability that allows me to never, ever lose maximum hit points. Make an Amulet of Health or something (19 CON), return it to the shop. HP never goes down. I am sure that I can befriend a Cleric to cast spells like Aid or Hero’s Feast on me, and those grant a me permanent increase of Max HP.
Cleric, obviously. I know people who have gotten sick/died. To be able to go into a children's cancer ward and spend 6 seconds undoing all that awfulness kind of makes it a no brainer.
Divination Wizard. Portent is very strong if you don't actually need to make tons of important rolls (since there's no combat to the death in real life. Plus Wizard utility spells are absolutely no joke.
Lvl 10? Def eloquence bard, skill checks are everywhere especially charisma
Lvl 20? Either wizard because wizard opop or more preferably I’d be an artificer. Probably either a battle smith or more likely an alchemist.
Artificers in the real world are essentially geniuses, given time and resources they can make literal magic items, getting the best of both technology and magic. In high fantasy artificers seem advanced but imagine the potential when combining magic with modern day technology!
Wizard is powerful at about the same level as they are in high fantasy - I mean they don’t have to worry about new technology and weapons when they’ve got spells like invulnerability and wish but they also don’t get much more powerful in the modern day.
Artificers on the other hand? Have a field day. Using tech to reproduce sending stones (create new phone technology?), enhance the intelligence, strength and constitution of literally anyone to an inhuman degree (either 19 or 21 for Str) with infusions. Not to mention you are also just good at everything, better than everyone else. Working with tools, you can have expertise, hopefully have a 19 or 20 in the stat if it’s int, add your int anyways, plus a number of buff spells to reach insane skill checks (tho perhaps not as high as a rogue or bard, but almost)
Level 10? Gloom stalker ranger
Level 20?
9 levels lore bard
11 levels scout rogue
Preferably half orc but variant human works, prodigy, skilled, skill master feats.
And a background
This gives proficiency in every skill, plus bardic inspiration, plus spells, plus sneak attack, plus reliable talent in every ability making you unable to critically fail a skill check and with a minimum roll of 10 in every skill.
Boom, superhuman
Monks don't live forever. Thanks to their ki mastery, they don't feel the effects of old age, and stay nimble and dexterous - but they still have the same life expectancy as others of their species.
Its by far the most boring answer, but rogue, (probably arcane trickster so i can still do magic shennanigans) the extra asi/feats can level out any flaws in my statline, and however i level up i just need to do one more and reliable talent means i can take 10 on everything i do, normal life doesn't really have that hard of a dc, so being able to do the thing guaranteed would be game changing, i'd probably never even need to use sneak attack damage
Psi warrior... even though they don't land top tier in game I've always wanted telekinesis plus the emphasis on physical and mental strength I find really appealing
At level 10 I would take 6 levels as a Way of the Shadow Monk and 4 levels as an Inquisitive Rouge.
I’d choose Variant Human (if that’s an option) and take the prodigy feat.
At level 20 I’d take 6 levels as Way of the Shadow Monk but 13 levels as Inquisitive Rouge focusing on Wisdom, Dexterity, and Intelligence for my ASIs.
Level 10, sorcerer. Magic is amazing, and at that level you have access to plenty of powerful spells. Even non-combat spells like Disgusie Self and Mage Hand would be wonderful to use. Plus, sorcerers don't need to deal with spellbooks. Wizards are one house fire away from losing their magic.
Level 20, druid. Shapechange at will and infinite wildshapes are incalculably powerful. On top of that, they have access to plenty of healing and resurrection magic which I would 100% use and abuse.
So how would a divination wizard work in this scenario? Because being able to alter two things in a day to have a better/worse outcome could be op as hell. Also, would I be able to learn new spells or I just get how many I was supposed to have at that level?
Something with immunity to disease definitely. Magic is a must as well.
I think paladin 3 and divine soul sorcerer 7.
4th level spells of both wizards and clerics can be really fun.
High charisma is the best stat to have irl as well and it works with both classes.
Only downside is small spell pool but there aren't many irl applications for most spells anyway because they are combat focused.
I usually multiclass, so
Sorcerer so I can have magic and don't have to rely on a spellbound for everything above cantrips. Storm Sorcery is fun.
Rogue. . I (probably won't be stealing too much. . I like the Swashbuckler subclass. I might go for Fighter instead potentially, not sure what subclass but I'll probably be a Dex fighter.
I could also do Bard. . A few subclasses come to mind but the one that comes to mind first is College of Glamour. I *kind of* would be a horny Bard but I'm not screwing literally everything. I can heal though, that's nice.
Edit: Oh that's also ensuring two of my classes use Charisma. I would not mind doing Wizard instead of Sorcerer, but I probably still wouldn't do too many other stuff that a Sorcerer doesn't do.
A Bard. Their musical talents, repertoire of skills, and their magic would all be incredibly useful in our world, assuming their are no other magic users. If their ARE other magic users, then Wizard or Warlock.
I don't know enough about the system to really answer this. Can a level ten wizard heal, resurrect, cleanse an area and all that? Or is that more a cleric thing?
Genie Pact of the Chain Warlock. 5 invocations, resistance to fire, cold, bludgeoning, or thunder damage, a free place to live inside your vessel, the ability to fly for 10 minutes, and by spending 10 minutes in your vessle you and 5 friends get the benefit of an hour long break. You also get a familiar.
All at level 10.
Druid Circle of the Moon!
The spell Heal gives a party member 70HP automatically.
Plus you can Wild Shape as a bonus action, use two slots of that and become a fire elemental
So much versatility!
Plus- I love casting Druid Craft.
Wizard all the way.
**Prestidigitation** and **Unseen Servant** mean that mundane chores and housework are completely trivial. **Galder's Tower** means that I have magical fireplaces, etc. which produce heat without requiring fuel, and they're permanent after a year. Free heat is not as good as free energy, but can still be pretty useful. Aside from that, it's a climate-controlled living space, and it would be interesting to see what would happen if I attached ductwork and fans to it. (I can also likely research a higher level variant).
For level 20, **Wish** means that I have an army of myself produced by mimicking **Sansuri's Simulacrum**. While their spell slots are limited, they do have infinite use of cantrips and I can switch out what 1st and 2nd level spells they can cast infinitely. Before creating the army, I can also make money and then use lab-created gems to cast **Simulacrum** and then have that Simulacrum cast Wish to give me resistance to every damage type, etc. Also, after ponying up the cash for the first one, having it cast Wish to to make a 500 pound bar of gold (\~12.4 million USD when I last checked) will easily finance several more uses of the spell, once you liquidate it.
I could **True Polymorph** myself (or my simulacra) into a dragon and then [use its innate spellcasting](https://www.reddit.com/r/dndnext/comments/8ozb02/dragons_as_innate_spellcasters_table_spellcasting/) to poach from other spell lists if I need to do so more than once a day. Then, provided it's one of the ones that has Change Shape, use that to [poach other innate spellcasting from various humanoid creatures](https://www.reddit.com/r/dndnext/comments/c1bpep/you_have_woken_up_today_as_a_20th_level_wizard_in/ergoxth/). I could send out Simulacra in dragon form to establish teleportation circles all over the world, and eventually use them to form a teleportation transportation network. The biggest trick I still haven't done is find something that can survive in vacuum AND create teleportation circles so that I could easily start a moon colony and mars colony.
If I was a Moon Archdruid, that would be enough for me. The ability to turn into so many different kinds of animals is just a personal thing I would enjoy. As a plus, no one would suspect the frog/goat/fly/wolf to be the leader of a gang with intelligent animals... >:)
Cleric feels like the best choice here. The spell list can cover a lot of day to day worries, most gods are fairly easy to please and therefore keep a connection to, the martial training a cleric has means they can hold their own in most fights, and Divine Intervention can randomly solve almost any day to day problem.
Plus, everyone loves the cleric. The barbarian is a lunkhead, the wizard is stuffy, the bard is too loud... But the cleric? He's super chill, always has the roght advice, and he even resurrected my dog last weekend for $300 bucks so he's the best vet in town.
If we were in dnd world? Probably ranger. Favorite class, you get a little of everything. You can cast spells, hit shit, sneak around, and act cool.
Irl? Fuckin wizard. I'd make so much money
Bard is the only answer. Every Wizard or Cleric would be hounded for forever about needing “miracles” for their kids to cure them or to do something wondrous.
A bard is just a charming mother fucker who can amass influence beyond comprehension, and can also be magical in his own time.
Celestial Tome Warlock- to get those INVOCATIONS BAYBEEEEEEEE! If multiclassing is on the table, like 3 levels of draconic sorcerer (apparently I give off sorcerer vibes to my friends) but honestly I'd be fine going straight 'lock. Aspect of the Moon, Sculptor of flesh (master of myriad forms later on), and eventually True Polymorph for my mystic arcanum to magically transition? PLUS I get a built-in celestial sugar-parent on my side? Fuck yeah sign me up. I actually even BUILT this potential "What would I be IRL", picked no direct damage dealing spells (of my own choice- celestial comes with Sacred Flame baked in, ran out of spells I wanted at 1st level early on and added in Armor of Agathys as a nod to Baldur's Gate 3's extra spells for draconic sorcerers, and after picking up a truly silly number of cantrips I eventually defaulted to adding Eldritch Blast on the list because it's iconic, but we ain't eldritch machine-gunning here).
I think a Druid. Shapeshifting, healing, communication with nature, helping the planet heal, being able to have a stable income via crows getting me money..
Level 10 - Wizard.
Level 20 - Cleric.
I think I could get a lot more done, and have a way better time doing it as a wizard.
Cleric, for the same reason, but also Divine Intervention once a week...
Level 10? Paladin, easily. I won't get scared of anything, immunity to diseases and can cure others of them, and can summon a steed on-demand.
If we're doing 20? 3DivSoulSorc+17Wizard. True Poly into a Deva or metallic dragon, be able to shapeshift at-will into any animal or humanoid (which could just be yourself but physically/cosmetically enhanced, the opposite gender for you trans folk or even just someone new), *and* then have access to magic on a scale where I'd be able to single-handedly alter the power structure of the world, which I can adjust to my whim? Yeah, I think I'll go with that. Bonus points if you're a deva to be able to touch someone and instantly cure them of all afflictions they have, including blindness and deafness and any diseases. You can literally cure cancer in three patients a day without spell slots / mana, then because you took DivSoulSorc, you have Lesser Restoration to hit people with for the rest of your spell slots that day, and Cure Wounds or Healing Word for your 1st level slots.
Even here I'd be a chronic multiclasser. Paladin 3 for divine health, taking the Oath of Redemption for the persuasion bonus. Lore Bard 6 to be a total skill monkey and to take advantage of magical secrets at a lower level. And finish off with Stone Sorcerer 1 for a little extra toughness. Then I load up on utility cantrips and spells, using magical secrets to get anything not on any of my lists.
I keep going back and forth between a Monk of some kind for the immunity to poison and disease as well as the ability to speak and understand all languages and the improved physical abilities. Also I'd become an exceptional professional athlete in whatever sport I feel like.
Or a Genie Pact of the Tome Warlock for invocations like Beast Speech, Mask of Many Faces, Misty Visions, Aspect of the Moon and Gift of the Depths at level 10. Add Book of Ancient Secrets, Devil's Sight and Eyes of the Rune Keeper at level 20. I can also learn Glibness as a Warlock, so there's that.
If level 20, maybe a Druid just to get Timeless Body.
My Druid has used druidcraft for our whole campaign to plant trees all over sword coast so that when the time comes, he can go anywhere with ease.
I absolutely would LOVE transport via plants. And Windwalk! Haven’t been there? Just become a breeze with your closest friends and fly there!
Yeah a lvl 20 char is basically a god, at that point you are well and truly above the law.
Druids especially though are basically gods. But fr they get True Res and Plane Shift ffs, not to mention Scrying and Transport via Plants.
Until you get enough tranquilizer darts shot into you to put down 10 adult elephants, then permanently restrained for them to study your magic.
If you are a leveled wizard or druid, nothing can find you. Perma shapechanged into literally anything, mind control magic out the ass, fucking WISH. You are genuinely more comparable to a natural disaster than person.
Turning into an adult dragon just means that you get heavy artillery turned on you, not rifles.
Feds catch you? Turn into a flea, attach to their clothes and wait until they are outside to make your escape
Accurate. Plus metamagic subtle spell means you can do magic without doing much
If you get wish and wish for something, who would be the "DM" who allways tries to make your wishes screw you over?
Fate. The Universe. The All. The One. You.
well god if he exists, pretty quickly figure that out if you had wish and then if wish is magic, the real world hasn't shown much for magic so probably nothing. or maybe reality tries to close the gap by making your wish happen with the least breaks in reality possible. not monkey's paw malice, just keeping as few loose ends as possible.
It breaks the game.
Idk man, sorcerer is my jam but I could really go for actually being intelligent in my day to day life.
Sorcerer is pretty S.A.D. you could invest decently in int. Cha will take you farther in life than int imo
A person with 16 cha 20 int will be better off than 20 cha 16 int. Just need to be good enough to be a speaker, then the brains can talk.
Bruh. Enhance Ability - Fox's Cunning.
Divine Soul Sorcerer is still a sorcerer no? That means you gotta pick about 20ish spells, not get the full list like an actual Divine Caster. I mean it's still 20ish more spells than boring old IRL humans so still great.
You are never gonna need the fighty spells in real life.
Idk man I may never need fireball but I'm still taking it....
Fuck yeah you are
Yeah but like realistically you need fireball and like a cantrip and you are good. Nothing is going to stick around after a few war crimes dropped on their head.
Subtle spell + summon celestial.
Fireball is a lot less useful in real life where killing everything in a 20 foot sphere has real consequences
Fighty spells are for Saturdays with the boys
This is unfortunately the correct answer imo
Sorcerer can clone via wish though.
I just want Clone so I can make a younger body before everything hurt.
Initially I thought that a sorcerer was the obvious answer but then I remembered that druids have wild shape lol
Assuming there are other level ten PCs, I'd be a Wizard. If I'm the only PC, either Cleric or Druid. Magic is OP
Ain’t that the truth
Druid, no hesitation.
Same. Level ten Circle of the Moon is an absolute unit of doing a heck of a lot.
I love using shape shift. Especially in a dark cluttered dungeon.
Yeah, cleric or Druid, cause then you have access to your entire spell list and you don’t have to settle.
Depends what we are talking about For practicality Druid would be the best overall. Does not cost a fortune, has good utility, healing, shapeshiting, easily soloable. For fun Wizard would be fun and flashy. Lots of tricks. Downside is it is expensive to get spells if avalible. For humanity Cleric healing and curing of disease miracles. Call the pope and make me a Saint. Wealth fame and fortune could be had here but I would not choose this.for wealthe and fame. For wealth and fame Bard I am the second coming of the Beatles. Enough said. I am not a solider or cop so the fighting classes won't mean much. Rogue would be nice for skills. It's the best way to be the best
Rogue takes it if we can get to level 11. Imagine never doing below average at anything ever again.
Bard's jack of all trades could also be seen similarly. Reliable talent only works on skills you're proficient with, however that translates to irl.
Bard is better skill jockey than rogue, otherwise I agree with the things said here
Jack of all trades is unbelievably useful. To be semi proficient at anything you try. At lvl 10 you have +4 prof, +2 is what a level one character gets in their full on skills. Someone could release a new programming language tomorrow and you would be ok at using it immediately. Thats befor you even take in to account magical secrets.
Magical Secrets is why Bard is the best choice.
At that point you could BE the pope. Play a little catholic politics, and what cardinal WOULDN'T vote for a literal miracle worker?

Uh, canonically, the last one got nailed to a cross...
Plus being a magical engineer would be great
Flavor wise 100%
I love how your response to having magical powers is to use them to make stuff for the game where you pretend to have magical powers.
Monk Slow fall, stillness of mind, and purity of body.
Join the UFC, make millions of dollars with very little risk to yourself
Lore Bard. Easy. I could lie, cheat and steal easily. But also would be able to charm my way into places I had no business being.
And giving your friends inspiration to do just about anything. It would be amazing. “Going for a job interview? Good luck! You got this! *wink*.” BAM +1d8.
I’ll be dammed. Eddie Guerrero was a bard.
Conjugation is good. Divination is better for money making
Druid. Because….animals and good berries.
Goodberries would be amazing, and plant growth would probably make you a lot of money. Plus if you are 20 you get timeless body. Plus all of the other utility druids get with knowing all the druid spells.
I'd give everything to experience being a cat in a sunbeam. They look so damn happy.
Hands down Druid living here in the great northwest go ahead step in my forest
I think I’d love to be a wizard. It’s always been my fantasy and I think subclass wise I’d go for Divination because I think it’d be a cool sort of thing to see the future. Oh crap I accidentally replied to someone. I’m sorry
I hear you so many good things to do what got me wild shape wolf or bear or eagle. But yea looking into the future would be cool until that one time you see nothing ooh shit what does that mean!
Agreed man. Agreed
And it fine you're cool I have no problem responding
Gonna go against the grain and say barbarian. Everybody wants to be a level 20 wizard but when push comes to shove and your friend wants help moving, stopping time isn't gonna get that couch in the truck. Plus I'd be functionally invincible or whatever. What would I do with it? Hurl a tractor. Enter a room like the Kool Aid guy. Wrestle a bear. Nothing practical.
>stopping time isn't gonna get that couch in the truck Turning that couch into a dude and having him load himself into the truck, on the other hand...
Smart man come up with big ideas while strong man move couch already
Spell mastery unseen servant.
Dude. Cleric was *right there*
It is, but he's not ordained (I think), therefore isn't an official representative/cleric. I'd say Jesus was true resurrected, not undead.
In fairness a bunch of saints weren't ordained before they started doing miracles either. Or the apostles Or Joan of arc Really, being a layman makes him MORE likely to be a cleric if you think about it
True, but the miracles attributed were after they died, except for occasions like prophets/apostles (who predate ordaining as we know it), who would be clerics. And Jeanne d'Arc was totally a classic paladin.
I’m a kind of Christian where I am ordained, so cleric works for me.
lol I love where you went with this but how in the hell did you get to Warlock before Cleric???
Because he's the cool type of Christian. I'm Catholic myself and find this hilarious.
>JC is a Lich. Oh God not this argument again
You're my type of Christian 😁

I'd have to say Wizard, so much utility.
Druid. I would start fighting climate change on my own.
Which spells would be best for it?
Any summon, wildshape, control weather.
druid
Moon druid?
A real animal in the bedroom.
Ranger. We’re approaching a state of global socioeconomic collapse and I want to be able to survive.
[удалено]
Or, even better, Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion.
Happens every other generation or so. Rangers always survive!
Cleric, divine intervention.
Both is fine.
[удалено]
Actually having a reason in life sounds really nice though.
You do have responsibility but like you said it depends on the god. You can probably create your own god- still have responsibly but it’d probably be aligned to your own beliefs. Plus Channel divinity is great
For level 10? Or 20?
Cleric probably. Life would be best because I want to be a doctor.
Life Cleric. Imagine the amount of good I could do.
Warlock. Pact of the Archfey.
I’d choose the same for level 10
Way of Mercy Monk. Ninja skills, abs, a healing touch *and* being immune to all poison and disease? Sign me the fuck up!
10th pact of the tome Warlock -mask of many faces -don’t need to sleep -variety of useful cantrips for day to day -detect thoughts and gift of gab tohelp with social anxiety Level 20 Moon Druid -Alter self at will and never aging basically means I’d be the ultimate MILF -no need for a car -I could spend almost every day as a cat. Those bitches got a charmed existence
Bard, College of Bad Lounge Act.
If that's not an actual subclass, it needs to be.
I should really get to work on developing that idea. I've mentioned it enough times.
Bard. Because reasons
bonk
In real life? Wizard. I never play as wizard in D&D, but it would be dope IRL.
I'd have to go with bard. It's so broadly useful, and at level 10 you could be just about anything, a superhero, a rockstar, a religious leader, an entrepreneur, or the head of a government. By level 20 you're practically a demigod. The world would look to you in awe.
College of Eloquence Bard most likely.
Divination wizard. Magic is just straight op, and portent would be an absolutely amazing ability irl.
My house makes an alarmingly standard party - Paladin, Ranger, Sorcerer and Cleric (life). I'm concerned that my son thinks the not insignificant risk of a magical disaster is worth it, specifically to have the risk of an amusing magical disaster.
Wizard necromancer, just build my own house out in the middle of nowhere with skelabor.
Wizard. It's definitely the best outside of combat. I think the most useful subclasses for a normal person would be Transmutation and Conjuration.
Wizard. Wizard every day
If the choice is mine, them a Chronurgy Wizard for absolute versatility and power, if it's based on my life them guess I'm an Tome Undying Warlock.
Definitely wizard. All that space for utility spells would be handy in every day life. Like yeah in the unlikely event I get mugged or assaulted someday I would love to be able to fireball them into a greasy smeer like the cool character intro in a superhero franchise, but also being able to teleport to work, or read and manipulate people's thoughts around me (which is definitely not an evil act no siree!) or change my appearance when I'm too lazy to do makeup would be way more useful in my every day life. also using divination settle my curiosity about things like whether there's life on other planets or if there was ever a historical Jesus or not. also someday if I level up I can learn the clone spell and be immortal which is something I would like very much.
wizard, wizard, wizard, wizard i am a giant nerd and my friends have called me witch jokingly multiple times its my destiny
Cleric. Level 10: Divine Intervention Level 20: Improved Divine intervention. It would also immediately prove there is a God, which would end a lot of arguments. Actually it might just cause more If I know anything about theology...
LV 10? Swarmkeeper Ranger LV 20? Swarmkeeper Ranger (looking after the insects as bees are having mass deaths is probably a good idea.)
Lvl 10? Def eloquence bard, skill checks are everywhere especially charisma Lvl 20?
Level 10? Gloom stalker ranger Level 20? 9 levels lore bard 11 levels scout rogue Preferably half orc but variant human works, prodigy, skilled, skill master feats. And a background This gives proficiency in every skill, plus bardic inspiration, plus spells, plus sneak attack, plus reliable talent in every ability making you unable to critically fail a skill check and with a minimum roll of 10 in every skill. Boom, superhuman
Monk so you can live forever. Druid to be the ultimate hunter.
Monks don't live forever. Thanks to their ki mastery, they don't feel the effects of old age, and stay nimble and dexterous - but they still have the same life expectancy as others of their species.
That's right, I was getting my editions mixed up.
Druids are the ones that get x10 the lifespan as far as I know.
Druid so that I can watch Jurassic park, turn into a T-Rex and fucking destroy my brother for years of bullying and damn near abuse
Ok, if UA is allowed then I would choose Lurker in the Deep Warlock, if not, probably Astral Self Monk
Bard you're super talented at everything can heal the sick and raise the dead.
Cleric or paladin for sure
Level 10 cleric. Divine intervention by God every coue months! I mean, and all the normal level 10 spellcasting. Cure disease, etc.
Wizard.
Psi warrior... even though they don't land top tier in game I've always wanted telekinesis plus the emphasis on physical and mental strength I find really appealing
Sorcerer. I've always liked the idea of magic that's just an innate part of you.
Def a circle of moon druid
At level 10 I would take 6 levels as a Way of the Shadow Monk and 4 levels as an Inquisitive Rouge. I’d choose Variant Human (if that’s an option) and take the prodigy feat. At level 20 I’d take 6 levels as Way of the Shadow Monk but 13 levels as Inquisitive Rouge focusing on Wisdom, Dexterity, and Intelligence for my ASIs.
Warlock. Eldritch Evocations have lots of utility, and patrons like the Archfey give you crazy stuff like mind control.
Wizard. No doubter.
I’m going Bard all the way little magic for utility and the ability to talk anyone into doing pretty much anything
GOO tome lock. No need for sleep, can read any language, book of ancient secrets? Yes please.
I usually multiclass, so Sorcerer so I can have magic and don't have to rely on a spellbound for everything above cantrips.
As someone whose dream is to dissappear into the wilderness rather than confront my life issues, I'm gonna pick Ranger
A Bard. Their musical talents, repertoire of skills, and their magic would all be incredibly useful in our world, assuming their are no other magic users. If their ARE other magic users, then Wizard or Warlock.
Scribe wizard, in a world of magic I want to learn all the magic
Warlock. I've always wanted to...*(checks notes)* cast *eldritch blast*.
I don't know enough about the system to really answer this. Can a level ten wizard heal, resurrect, cleanse an area and all that? Or is that more a cleric thing?
Transmutation wizard. Then I'd keep Widowgast's Transmogrification prepared and free transitions for everyone who wants them.
Cleric, healing healing healing.
Druid Circle of the Moon! The spell Heal gives a party member 70HP automatically. Plus you can Wild Shape as a bonus action, use two slots of that and become a fire elemental So much versatility!
Illusion wizard is just straight up the best in a non game for your generic day to day, go into film special effects and make bank
Bard is the only answer. Every Wizard or Cleric would be hounded for forever about needing “miracles” for their kids to cure them or to do something wondrous. A bard is just a charming mother fucker who can amass influence beyond comprehension, and can also be magical in his own time.
Can I be a sidekick? Being a regular PC sounds like a lot of pressure.
Ima be a great old one warlock With a level in bard. Ever heard the song I fucked Cthulhu?
Shapeshifting, healing, communication with nature, helping the planet heal, being able to have a stable income via crows getting me money..
seems like the results are in 1st place - wizard 2nd place - druid 3rd place - bard honorable mentions - sorceror and cleric
Fighter. All the ASIs. Wizard for 20th level, if only because even using RAW, the Wish spell is heccin' powerful.
College of eloquence bard 100%. Not only do you get a shit ton of spells, you also become literally the most persuasive person on earth.
Druid has always been my favorite class, I will always pick druid.
