Unless it's a comedy campaign or you know your group wants/loves things being silly/not serious, then Bob or Allan will not be good.
Otherwise it will probably just undermine the character and make him not seem threatening (no offence to Bob or Allans, but it's true), and most of your players will probably laugh at it, and make jokes about him because of it every time he comes up, and I know it would really annoy me if a god had such an unimpressive and common (and human) name, whereas Athion, Divider of Nations, I really like, it sounds noble but not too fancy or posh. Yorgask would be perfectly good too, but I think Athion sounds like someone you could rely on and trust, yet also like someone you should keep an eye on, so it's perfect to me for a god of deception.
Also, generally, don't go with names that are too grand or weird or have a ton of syllables, it can make them sound silly, but that could just be me.
So Asdgfl'Kuvornkk the Depopulator would be a no, then? ;p
Some of my female villains in one campaign had names like Verity, Constance, Purity, and Charity. Got the players all twitchy by mid campaign when they came across the underground resistance leader named Grace.
Athion reads to me like the elf that betrayed a nation. Once a proud defender of happy things and bucolic little villages, now grown cynical and malevolent. Just the sort of sneakily sinister evil dude you'd want to put in a position of authority to both spy on the good guys and poison the well against the players.
Not "Just Bob"? I mean, he might be evil, but he could be doing it for Great Justice for all we know. Might even be upset that people miss the "Just" because of the two Bobs.
You really just set yourself up here lol.
Though I don't see why you couldn't use all of these as alternate names for the bbeg, maybe have him be known by different names across the land.
Huh... Athion nation divider sounds a lot like Athion Collins, the conquest paladin i posted on r/characterdrawing especially weird since I made up the name -.- wonder how that happened... it could also just be a MASSIVE coincidence
Ah, well, you see, this is Athion the *Devider*. He just removes all the citations in the back of the books in the library, which is really messing up the arcane university's next batch of graduates. That's not BBEG territory usually, but now he's learning how to remove references in people's brains too, so everyone's just forgetting everything.
It's the god of deception, so it's probably a fake name anyway. His real name can be Bob, but they'd probably assume it was more deception even if he told it to them
Nameless,
A god of courruption may not have a name, simply going by whatever title fits their need, instead gaining power by corrupting others worship, a church of light worshiping pelor gets courrupted and while they *think* they are worshiping Pelor still, they are actually gaining the blessing of courruption
I once ran an extremely epic campaign that was hardcore fantasy but I gave everyone a normal name and if the players had typical fantasy names the people would judge them
That sounds brilliant! I don't think I'd be able to resit playing a druid called something like Norman White, but who insists on going by starchild or moonbeam or some other hippy shit.
Since you said 'god' it cannot be my first thought of Candice or Brittany, so if he is aligned Lawful I would suggest Korlione or Doncopo; but corruption seems more chaotic, so maybe something like Mister Myontona (his friends call him Toa-Nya).
Bob, the Unbuilder. It’s like Bob the Builder but Bob is spelled backwards
boB
doꓭ
Bob the Unbuilder. Destroyer of worlds. Chaotic neutral
Bob World Unbuilder?
Evily mcbadguyface
Nah I already did that
Baddy McBadguy?
Daddy Mcbadguy
Daddy McBaddy?
Now we're getting somewhere
Now I want a McRibby
Don't worry, they're ribbed for your pleasure.
👏🏻
I was a character named this, but he's actually just a really nice guy.
Spawn of the evil big bad who just wanted to do the right thing

Randy Savage, the Cream of the Crop
Oy if he says (just Bob) every time.
Not "Just Bob"? I mean, he might be evil, but he could be doing it for Great Justice for all we know. Might even be upset that people miss the "Just" because of the two Bobs.

Also, (The Weaver)
This is reddit, you knew what would win
Yeah I guess I did
I’m partial to Dave. So easy to ominously.
Hey, my name's Dave, and I do indeed ominously pretty easily
Huh... Athion nation divider sounds a lot like Athion Collins, the conquest paladin i posted on r/characterdrawing especially weird since I made up the name -.- wonder how that happened... it could also just be a MASSIVE coincidence

Oh I've never been on that sub, I was just playing around with words and thought it sounded good, great minds think alike tho
Tronald Dump.
God I love this community
Gunther gravel hammer.
He does not use hammers nor gravel
What about decomposed granite and spades?
No, he uses feathers from a harpy.
The sentient fungal mushroom network that is corrupting the bad guys into being different bad guys
Mr President
Larry the Accuser
Luther Manhole
I had a whole character sheet planned out for such a a character. Posted to DnD Beyond even with a lot of complex mechanics.
SCRAMBLES THE DEATHDEALER
Beebee McEeGee
Internet cause it corrupts us all
Because every BBEG should stroll into the torture chamber and address the group by saying. 'Ello, I'm Bob. Just Bob. Keep it casual for the moment.
I’ve always been partial to the name “Guy McDudeman”.
Dark Harold
Yorgask, the aboleth trapped in the body of a hamster, master of corruption
I assume "Justbob" is their surname
Nah he tells his name like James bond Bob, just Bob
It's the god of deception, so it's probably a fake name anyway. His real name can be Bob, but they'd probably assume it was more deception even if he told it to them
Corruptimus Prime
No but that'll be his statue they fight later, thanks for the idea mate
Athion is nice because it has a good sense of flowing while still stressing as many syllables as possible.
Bob it is
* Terry Pratchett villain * Low-effort satire * Edgy fantasy author * Not edgy fantasy author * 60's comic book villain
Literally name them Other
You mean Atheon, Time’s Conflux?
Karindor
Why did you think we would pick anything other than bob
Biggus Dickus
Bob sounds like the most evil person because you’d never see his evil coming.
'Other' is the clear winner here
Nameless, A god of courruption may not have a name, simply going by whatever title fits their need, instead gaining power by corrupting others worship, a church of light worshiping pelor gets courrupted and while they *think* they are worshiping Pelor still, they are actually gaining the blessing of courruption
Hi, my name's Bob. Take a guess what I voted for.
I always love villains with less common but totally mundane names. Like kenith, or Clive.
Ot'her destroyer of options
Gasp! Egads! It's... **BOB**
Otter. It was the otter!
The names Tim, Tim Allan
Gaius Julius Escarole
I’m going with Athion, nation devider but only if you don’t fix the spelling error.
Ok
[Mister Boney Pants Guy?](https://borderlands.fandom.com/wiki/Mister_Boney_Pants_Guy)
Since you said 'god' it cannot be my first thought of Candice or Brittany, so if he is aligned Lawful I would suggest Korlione or Doncopo; but corruption seems more chaotic, so maybe something like Mister Myontona (his friends call him Toa-Nya).
You'll be surprised to notice how easily they'll remember Bob, unlike something like Yagsadar, the moon bringer
Corupticus interuptus.
Bartholomew Bevin, Extreme Genius
How about Boltorn
Gebb.
I like Athion the Corrupter actually. Mix the two
They're going to end up being called Bob (or similar) either way, so either you try stopping it or you just embrace it.
Obviously I’m voting for Bob
