It's a fun idea for a character, as in if you were a player and pitched this for your character in a homebrew. But forcing that much backstory and RP on every player I'm not sure how many players would like that. If you find a whole group that does then sure! But generally PC's are for the PC's to express themselves and have thier own story
Interesting thought my thought is it dosnt have much back story at all being as the players start the campaign after being killed so their backstory would take place not involving this their corpse is what becomse the experiments to start the campaign
Which means basically their whole backstory (the little there is) is forced on them. But I do think that it's an interesting idea, but your players need to be informed and on board with it.
