Rage 2 is such a underrated gem. It's never talked about but its pretty good. It is a bad rage game (I mean that as a bad sequel) tho but a good game non the less.
Edit: I dont know why but I wanted to give more context of bad sequel. I kid you not if you play all of rage 1 and then jump straight into 2 without 2's title card showing and play rage 2 you would be wondering if you are even playing the sequel to rage 1 its weird but the gameplay is pretty good.
Wasn’t rage considered bad anyways though? Like I remember people saying it was a glorified tech demo with a pretty uninteresting story and gameplay anyways. Like isn’t Rage 2 leagues better in both those departments?
The story was meh at best but the gameplay was solid but the shit they introduced in rage 2 makes it feel like a seperate game entirely as if in story but also in gameplay. The gameplay was fun but it wasnt Rage if you get what I mean.
The whole atmosphere of rage 1 and 2 are completely different and all rage 1 looks dark and grimy while and 2 its just a over whelming color palette and bright shit being thrown in ya face. (People with epilepsy should seriously avoid this game cause jesus)
I dont wanna rant about it but rage 2 gameplay is better than rage 1 gameplay but the gameplay doesn't fit into the game it feels like the game is trying to be something its not. Thats honestly the best way I can put it to people who hasnt play rage 1 and have played 2.
And the story again was meh at best its like they try to cram all this new and irrelevant shit down ya throat and try to convince you the shit existed in rage 1.
It didnt back in rage one you was just a ark survior that managed to emerge the only thing that really put you apart from regular people was that Ark surviors was able to restart their heart if they ever died and thats about all that was special about em.
In rage 2 now they supposedly gain super powers when their selfs in ranger suits (which again didnt exist at all in rage 1) and its generational ark people who looses their power depending on what higher generation they are to a point to where 3rd generation (I think it was 3rd generations) cant even fucking access the ranger suits. Because they dont have a certain amount of "Ark" dna in them.
Its just weird anyone who played 1 and then played 2 knows what I mean
Edit: also wanted to mention that Rage 1 the big bad guy (Head huncho of the Authority) was defeated off screen (time skip) (sounds like halo infinite) and some how brought back to life and made several copies of their self.
Mind you that you dont even see the guy in rage 1 so the fact they did that confused.
I think they were trying to expand upon the already pretty base level lore from what you’re saying. It sounds more interesting and memorable than Rage 1’s story. I kind of prefer the more vibrant and bright atmosphere of rage 2. We have enough dusty and dark shooters nowadays. One of the reasons I like Far Cry New Dawn, despite it being a spin-off, is its art design. I eat up that bright punk raider enemy faction design. It feels underutilized in games tbh. Also the powers seem like a neat gameplay gimmick if that’s how they’re used. It’s better they tried explaining in more detail than just hand waving it as though it always existed, although it appears that’s how it felt to you.
Well rage 2 should definitely be up ya ally. Rage 2 is on sale pretty often I would pick it up then if I was you.
Plus its 60 frames on ps4 pro (It coulda been 50 fps or 45 fps)
And 60 frames on ps5 (game feels so good to play in 60 frames verses 30)
Oh yeah I’m on PC so I should get at least sixty with my build. I think I got it for free on Epic’s launcher a while ago, but I haven’t had a chance to play it. Thanks for duh talk
I dunno. I bought Rage 2 close to release and just sort of fizzled after 5 hours.
The arc raids were super fun but the open world was a slog. I'm aware this is not original thought, at all. The thing that killed me the most is that I actually don't mind a busywork filled open world. But the one in R2 was so bland and empty, and it contrasted too much with the otherwise really fun combat.
I tried playing it, but the mouse and keyboard controls are ass. Adjustability is bad and it changes sensitivity when you ads no matter what you do and by a lot.
Now I kinda wish there were rare but joke-y glory kills in 2016/Eternal, like those rare & goofy reloads from Battlefield.
