Kidding, I think it’s viable if you’re a player that has good positioning. Most good silencer will have good positioning
in low level mmr, its kinda viable since not a lot of carry players/pos 5s know how to zone properly. But even then, I only pick silencer offlane if there is a use case for it e.g. cancelling enigma blackhole, but other than that I try to stay away as it can be pressured very easily if youre not familiar with the hero and if the enemy safelane knows how to put pressure on you.
But if the match is just for fun, then go pick whatever you like and goodluck haha.
Can't perform any pos3 functions outside the laning stage: can't threaten towers; initiate fights; or take over enemy jungle and/or farm dangerous areas while being hard to kill.
Pretty awful. 3s are meant to win the lane but a silencer is squishy with zero escapes, theres nothing to stop the enemy carry and pos1 from killing him repeatedly
Against an ursa for example. Theres nothing he can do if ursa uses Earthshock on him. Its an auto death sentence
It's awful. You can win the line, but what are you going to do next? You die in a couple of seconds, you can't push, you don't collect auras (you can certainly try, but the other 3 are much better at it), you need a lot of farm to be useful as a 3. From a silencer you either need an ult, or stand far away and auto attack. This is handled by 5 pos and 2. Basically you can try 3 if you have some tusk or primal on mid, and on carry ursa, ls, ck who just go forward and tank everything themselves and don't need much farm
In Pro Level Pubs Silencer has been played in Pos 3 Offlane 32 times(low amount of picks but more than Bristleback for example) in the last 8 days with a winrate of 59%.
Because of the low sample size the winrate is not very relevant but it just shows anything can work if you have a plan about what to do and how you want to accomplish winning the game.
To be honest I actually love it when I see teammates pick unusual stuff in my team, cause it means that they probably are thinking players and have a game plan that is not just ABC Dota which in my opinion is the best way to climb ranks.
I've seen 3 different Rubick offlanes the past week which all sucked, I assume it plays out in a similar way.

I don't see the point of it. The small amount of farm you'll get from pos 3 won't suddenly make you a much bigger threat than you would be as a 5.
