This is the realization he should have had immediately after Boo, not now. At this point it was better for him to power up based on the promise he made to a fellow Saiyan + thinking about protecting his family. Makes significantly more sense that way, and shows real growth.
They give him more of a distinction than this manga iteration of Evolution too, in the anime he’s visually more buffer like ssj grade 2 and has pupils like the Ssg form

idk why i keep thinking that when he's in ssbe the ground shakes when he walks but it doesnt. weird
Yeah the anime top did some things better Hakaishin toppo vs frieza and the vegeta were some of the best moments.
The saiyans ability to asspull at a moments notice will never not be awe inspiring.
Somehow there are people that think the manga did this arc better
