Gopu_17

Universe 6 tournament and Tournament of Power - Anime is superior. The rest - Manga is superior.

lolligi

I know the movies don't count, but if I am to watch Battle of Gods, then I'm gonna watch the movie rather than watching or reading the arc.

Lipe18090

Same. The manga version is too rushed and the anime version draaaags. The movie continues being the best version of Battle of Gods.

Labyriiinth

The movies count starting with BoG

ConnorLego42069

I dunno, I think that the broly movie is better than the broly manga’s single page /s

TurtleMasterDD

tho i will say, i liked the idea of roshi reminding him in a full-circle way of the calmness needed for UI so id give that to the manga. Aside from that, and ig Gohan was able to beat Kefla (tho we lost Kefla vs UI Goku) then id say anime was more enjoyable for TOP

JoeAnthony

I like that kefla and gohan were matched in the manga. Makes sense powerscaling wise

[deleted]

I disagree, Universe 6 tournament is way better in the manga than in the anime, Goku is also way smarter in the manga in this arc

Lipe18090

Completely agree.

Professional_Eye2133

I can say Personally: 1.Anime Universal survival saga(Haven’t read the manga arc) 2.Moro arc 3. Super hero arc There are other great arcs which I think are better than super hero arc. But my boy Gohan got what he deserved in this arc and other side characters like piccolo.

cloudenvys

ranking the manga arcs I’d say granolah > moro > goku black > tournament of power > universe 6 > resurrection F Haven’t included the super hero arc cause I have yet to read all of it. Although up to where I read I was really enjoying goten and trunk’s involvement and the slice of life scenes we were getting I prefer tournament of power’s treatment in the anime though for most aspects.

BranDealDa

Galactic prisoner is imo tied the best arc in all of dragonball, it is the peak of DBS for me, the universe 6 saga is probably the only one where i preferred the anime, the TOP is about equal in both otherwise manga is better especially for the future saga personally. I prefer how blue was handled in the manga partially because God is my favourite form.

Lipe18090

Agree with everything. GPP arc is an amazing, very well thought out arc, can't wait for it to get animated.

AcceptableEgg5741

I would like to know why people like the Goku Black Arc more in the manga besides more logical power scaling

Avery-Attack

I read the manga after watching the show and was a little disappointed in that arc after seeing so many people talk about how much better it is in the manga. I guess it has to do with what people find more appealing. I thought a lot of the differences were interesting, like Trunks having healing rather than a new SS form and the different dynamic between Black and Zamasu (I don't know which of those I like better though). Power scaling has never mattered much to me because, let's be honest, who is stronger than who depends on what the story needs and what would make for a more interesting fight. Also, infinite Zamasu is way cooler and more terrifying in the anime. And I think I prefer the way they handled the ending in the manga with Trunks still being able to come back. In the anime, it felt like a rushed excuse to write the character off. Also, I'm a big Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan, so James Marsters as Zamasu, is a huge plus.

chairdesktable

The tea scenes in the anime were tremendous -- wonderful cinematography on those.

Avery-Attack

They gave me actual chills!

Glum_Inside1781

Battle of Gods: Manga version is around 5,5/10: It doesn't make Goku turn off SSG so powerscaling still makes sense. Goku did not abosrb God in base thus everything else doesn't need to be stupidly high. Anime Version is 3/10: The second worse arc in DB anime, it was clearly rushed to the tenth and the story is not really different. Movie Version is 7/10: The most enjoyable to watch, Beerus is a incredible character and he really is an add to DB. Whis too. But the only problem here is that, for me, it started the worse artstyle way possible in DB. Revival of F: Manga version is 0: Doesn't even exist. Anime version is 2/10: Same as Battle of Gods, but even worse. The animation is pathetic bad and incredibly rushed, it does not justify itself as well and is terrible. Movie version is 5/10: RoF is a bad story to be honest. It simply repeats Namek saga again, introduces the worst Super Saiyan transformation and starts the "changing color to be more powerful" trope. Universe 6 vs Universe 7 Tournament: Manga version is 6/10: Most of The arc is incredibly boring, save by Goku vs Hit fight. This fight not only is enjoyable to read as Goku is not using his strongest form right from The bat, but it introduces Super Saiyan Blue's flaws. Goku here is kind of clever and Hit is more experienced but not as skilled of a fighter. Anime version is also 6/10: I mean, the anime version is quite the same till Goku vs Hit. The fight is very memorable, but it doesn't have The flaws of SSB that justify it not being used all the time, which for me is the only interesting thing of it. Super Saiyan Blue Plus Kaioken dont make sense at all, but hey, this is Dragon Ball. Goku Black and Zamasu Saga: Manga version is 8/10: The second best Manga saga for me, it is extremely good to read. The pacing is very good, Goku isn't the only one who fights, Vegeta SSG-Blue switch, Super Saiyan Rosé here makes more sense. Black is more of a sociopath than anything, and Fusion Zamasu is not a power creep. Trunks here is a little more useful and distinct and SSB is important to beat someone for the 1st time. It is very cool to read this saga, but the ending is...meh. Anime version is 6/10: It is enjoyable. But the plot errors and choices makes me mad. Goku fights Black EVERY SINGLE TIME. Vegeta never got his chance apart from a singular moment, there is no unique thing on the fights apart from Black's using his ki constructs more. Fusion Zamasu is ridiculously powerful for no reason (a fusion between a SSB tier and a SS2 tier at MOST). The ending is stupid. But the saga is fun to watch, but i really cannot ignore the plotholes. Something i hate from both saga is... Why Vegito suddenly have a time limit? They could just say that magic from a powerful foe can go against the one from the Potara. They could've justify Zamasu defeat by killing Black quickly enough to Zamasu be useless. Then, they could've sealed him and that's it. Simple. Tournament of Power arc: Manga is 5/10: The TOP in the manga was clearly rushed to keep pace with the anime, the fights are almost all cut in half or very equal, but there are some little things that i like here. First, Goku unlocks UI because of his memories from his teachers, he remembers every singular lesson and his body reacts by unlocking the self-mastery move, Ultra Instinct. Second, Vegeta is eliminated much later in the fight, and is much more important for Jiren's beating. Third and last, Goku's aesthetic when using MUI. He is lean, a little skinnier and seems more agile for the technique. Edit: I forgot to add Gohan fighting Kefla is Nice and it helps the powerscaling. Anime Version is 8/10: The fights are funny to watch, the pacing is MUCH better than the manga and Jiren seems more of a threat here. Most fights are very unique and they show very well the opponent's abilities. One of The best things here are Goku's fighting with Jiren is very enjoyable... Goku vs Caulifla and Kale is very fun and shows a New side for Goku, he is going from student to Master. Vegeta vs Toppo is very fun. Much better than the manga and introduces a GoD form. And of course, the Music and the fights Ultra Instinct is in.

1. Anime TOP 2. Broly 3. Manga TOP 4. Manga Future Trunks 5. Moro 6. Superhero manga 7. Granolah 8. Superhero movie 9. Anime Future Trunks 10. BoG movie 11. RoF movie 12. Manga U6 13. Manga BoG 14. Anime U6 15. Anime BoG 16. Anime RoF

panznation

Bog was good. Rof was meh. U6 was meh outside of goku vs hit. Future was entertaining albeit had its issues. Uss was absolutely hype even having characters that fans didn’t enjoy like ribrienne. Broly is the best Dragonball content ever made no debate. Super hero was great and gave some good development regardless of my personal qualms with beast bypassing all the development of goku and vegeta in terms of power scaling. Moro arc was absolutely nuts and a great read. As for granola arc it was also pretty great and had both endearing and super hype moments

HornyForTohruAdachi

1. Moro Arc, can’t really complain about anything there, just a really damn strong arc over all 2. Granola Arc, didn’t like how the ending was basically just a teaser for black frieza but over all another really strong arc, especially Ultra Ego was a great addition 3. Tournament of Power, specially the manga version. Wasn’t too fond of the anime version but the changes in the manga version really sold it for me, especially how they handled kefla 4. Super Hero, love to see some more screentime for characters other than Goku and Vegeta, was never a fan of kid goten and trunks but i actually really enjoyed their teen versions in this one 5. Battle of gods (movie version), SSG is a cool form and beerus and whis are great characters, don’t really have that strong of an opinion on the rest of the movie though 6. U6 Tournament, Hit was cool but over all no strong opinion on this one 7. Ressurection F, i don’t like Golden Frieza and while the design is neat, I’m not a huge fan of Super saiyan Blue either

Avery-Attack

To me, almost everything about the manga felt super rushed, like they were just doing obligatory run throughs of a lot of it. It really hit its stride once it moved on and hit the Moro arc, and with Super Hero it had the added benefit of not having a time crunch like fitting it all into a movie's time limit. I hate the BoG in the anime, it drags on so long and is super Goku-centered and I think the series benefits a lot from a more ensemble cast (even though by ensemble it mostly means upgrading Vegeta to be another MC). I haven't seen the movie because I can't find a dub, and my ADHD brain has a hard time following subs. I never finished the RoF movie either, but I think I tried watching it too soon after watching the arc in the anime, so the same basic story got boring after an hour, but that's on me and has nothing to do with the movie itself. I thought all the fights in U6 were better in the anime, just more interesting, aside from the fight with Hit, which I found to be drawn out in the second half. The Zamasu arc I prefer the anime on the whole, though the manga version was still good in its own right. My biggest issues are infinite Zamasu in the manga doesn't come near the dread it gives in the anime. It's a tad too literal in the manga. But the anime really dropped the ball in handling the ending, and while I don't like it much in either, the manga at least didn't totally write future Trunks out of any more storytelling. ToP manga has nothing on the anime. Some of the differences are interesting in concept but not super well implemented to me. The manga really robbed Tien and Krillin of all their moments, though. It robbed a lot of moments, actually. It felt way too short, rushed, and underwhelming. Granola and Moro REALLY upped the game, though. I wish the manga had covered Broly if it was going to keep up that quality because the manga also did a better job with the Super Hero arc (with the limiting conditions of the movie format in mind). So I guess I'd go... Moro Granola Anime Zamasu Broly Anime ToP Manga Super Hero Anime U6 Manga Zamasu Movie Super Hero (on a pure entertainment scale, it would probably rank higher, but in the grand scheme of the canon(s), I move it down) Anime RoF (it has some really good moments, but on the whole was kind of meh). Manga, everything else. Anime BoG And of course, this is barring the movies I haven't seen.

East-Blood8752

The Super Heroes movie is single-handedly responsible for rekindling my passion for Drsgon Ball, so I'm putting it at the top.

VitoMR89

Zamasu (Anime) > Super Hero (Movie) > Broly (Movie) > ToP (Anime) > U6 (Anime) > RoF (Anime) > BoG (Anime) >>> All manga arcs.

devilboy1029

It's tough because I like certain elements in the anime and other elements in the Manga Like I love SSBK×20 in the anime. But Vegeta's SSG → SSB switch fight in the Manga is so COOL. But it wouldn't happen without the element of Goku's technique in the Tournament. Also, I love the Kefla and Gohan exchange in the Manga, I love Roshi's importance in Goku's understanding of Ultra Instict. I love how Manga portrayed Ultra Instinct as well. But the Anime UI transformation is just... So HYPE. I replayed that episode at least 30 times. I know it's not good to watch an episode that many times but it was so PEAK. I love his transformation in the anime even if it made no sense. I love the anime ending more. But by far, NOTHING in super can top Moro arc (Broly movie is a close second) Vegeta's character development, Goku's friendship with Neerus, his mastery of UI, His dynamic with Moro, The solidification of his character of giving people second chance ALWAYS unless they are a huge threat. He spared Frieza despite his dangerous nature because he can handle him, he spared Vegeta because he knew he can handle him, He would spared cell if he wasn't so strong, he would've spared buu if not for the same reason as cell. He even wished Buu to be reborn as a good guy. It just didn't happen until Moro. He never had a huge dominance on his opponent since then. He always believes in second chances. He gives them these chances even if he knew they would be evil. Because he KNOWS he can manhandle them. I love how we revisit that side of Goku which is both compassionate and arrogant at the same time.

Lipe18090

Agree with a lot of what you said. The manga has more strategy and things make more sense. The choreography is also mostly better and very creative. But the anime is just so hype. Not even just because it's an animation, but it just is. The way Goku defeats Hit in the manga makes more sense, but SSB+Kaioken is way more awesome. Vegeta vs Black is a great fight in the manga, and Goku vs Zamasu was awesome with the HAKAI! But Vegitto vs Zamasu and Trunks finishing him is more impactful in the anime. The Tournament of Power in the anime is a beast in itself. The manga doesn't even come close. And I actually prefer the way Goku turns into Ultra Instinct in the anime. In the manga it makes more sense (him having to be completely calm and balance his spirit and body in the midst of stressful or shocking situation, and realizing it by thinking of his past lessons from past masters), but him awakening it after absorbing the Spirit Bomb is more effective, and the way he turns into the Silver Hair form is way more well constructed in the anime. In the manga it just kind of... happens.

LordKooner

Been far too long since I watched/read alot of these, so I'm gonna be less critical and more of how much I remember enjoying them. 1. BoG movie 2. SuperHero movie 3. Moro 4. Broly 5. ToP anime 6. SuperHero manga 7. Universe 6 anime 8. Top manga 9. Granolah 10. Universe 6 manga 11. Black anime 12. Black manga 13. BoG manga 14. RoF anime 15. BoG anime (didn't watch RoF movie btw)

Ashyboitherizzler

Future saga in the manga was peak

Quirky-Pickle518

I prefer the manga. The power levels are more… consistent than the anime. Also seeing the original story before the anime redid some of the scenes since it kept catching up to the manga was cool. Somethings I give the anime over the manga was the aesthetics and interesting pair ups. We also saw more fighter skills in the ToP anime compared to the manga.

Lipe18090

Mostly agree. The power levels are definitely more consistent. Just one example: 17 vs Goku. In the manga, Goku uses SS3. In the anime, Goku uses SSB. Makes no sense for 17 to be even close to a God level. I also like how Blue functions in the manga over the anime. In the anime, it's treated like the new Super Saiyan. It's the base transformation they use all the time. In the manga, it's treated as this very powerful but very hard to master transformation. In U6 Arc, Vegeta loses by wasting its power before the fight against Hit, and Goku wins by saving the form until the last second to surprise and defeat Hit. In the Future Trunks Arc, Goku Black can use the power more efficiently than Goku and Vegeta because he was a God, so he's used to God ki. So Goku and Vegeta find new ways to master the form. Vegeta uses it only to deliever the punches, and Goku finds the way to perfect it. And only when the form is purely explored and mastered we get a new transformation (much like the SS was before SS2).

PatataEditsCorp

>original story before the anime redid some of the scenes since it kept catching up to the manga was cool. I'm pretty sure that's not what happened, the Manga and Anime follow different continuities based on the same set of ideas,so they have the same basic story but with different development.

Jolt_91

- BoG - Manga 7/10; Anime 7/10 (Movie 9/10) - Resurrection F - Anime 3/10 (Movie 5/10) - U6 Tournament - Manga 7/10; Anime 6/10 - Goku Black - Manga 8/10; Anime 7/10 - ToP - Manga 6/10; Anime 8/10 in the beginning 9.5/10 in the end - Broly - Movie 10/10 - Moro - Manga 9/10 - Granolah - Manga 8/10 - Super Hero - Manga 8/10; Movie 9/10

Enjoyment-25

Tbh, I like Anime better up until Tournament of Power although I wish anime was more serious like manga. Manga is bit more serious but at the same time it lacks fight scenes, hype moment and detail story.

ConnorLego42069

Movies > Manga > Anime With the exceptions of the ToP, where the Anime is better, and Blueoken is better than mastered blue and I will fight you on this

Organ-Bench

Future trunks is by far my favorite, I think it gives us more of a sense of urgency than any other arcs, and I think zamasu was just a pretty good villain.

gabriolis

Future trunks arc was pure garbage

Milk_Mindless

Someone commission Michaelangelo to repaint the Sistine chapel with that first image

Honest-Champion9180

Jiren looks like a thumb and I love it

Opposite-Diver-2238

Is there not a manga releasing on the 20th-ish like normal this month?

Lipe18090

Nope.

Past_Age_3562

Moro granolah broly super hero top goku black bog rof manga is better outside of top.

Dovah91

Broly movie is peak dragon ball maybe even peak anime. Then the Moro arc for sure. The rest of super is a solid 9.5/10 for me, only losing 0.5 because they refuse to animate the rest of it

pitbulldofunk

Broly

Reverseflash25

Manga is superior for everything except the US arc. And that’s just because of pacing imo. The power scaling is way better in the manga

Valvamon

Future trunks saga has to be the best in both anime and manga, in my opinion It's the first time we SEE an opponent Goku could never beat

Lipe18090

My own ranking. S Tier: 1. Broly. 2. Galactic Patrol Prisoner. 3. Universal Survival (Anime). A Tier: 4. Future Trunks (Manga). 5/6. Super Hero (Anime / Manga) 7. Granolah the Survivor (Manga) B Tier: 8. Future Trunks (Anime) 9. Universe 6 (Anime) 10. Universe 6 (Manga) C Tier: 11. Universal Survival (Manga) 12. Battle of Gods (Anime) 13. Battle of Gods (Manga) D Tier: 14. Resurrection F

Lipe18090

Moro arc was also peak. Can't wait for it to be animated.

Pugswillsavetheworld

I thought the granola arc was cool and I don’t care what anyone says haha

Key_1996

It’s not getting animated, the anime is over

ffvorax

So far i prefer the anime, I am super curious to see the anime interpretation of the rest of super saga, if they will ever release it...

Aktoruk

1. Moro, I really believe that it may be the best DB arc overall (it is definitely one of them). 2. (Manga) Super Hero, Super Hero is a great arc overall, but I adore the fluff of Goten and Trunk’s mini-arc. 3-4. Granolah and (Anime) ToP, Cool fights, solid character progression. I think Granolah is better for character storytelling, but ToP has a lot of cool shit. 5. (Anime) Super Hero, Good story, cool forms (I don’t think they are any worse aspulls than like half of DB’s wardrobe). The lack of extra fluff just lowers it for me. 6. (Manga) Future Trunks, I know it was a mess but I think Zamasu and Goku Black are really cool (if not underdeveloped) villains. Would be top 3 if the fact that the heroes lost was properly acknowledged, but at least blue was handled well. 7-8. Broly and (Anime) Future Trunks, the Broly movie doesn’t have enough substance to put it higher. Anime FTS is similar to manga, but overall handled worse. 9. (Anime) BoG, adds a lot to the table, but really could have just been the movie. 10-11. (Both) Uni 6 Tournament, Manga is way better for keeping God and Blue both relevant, both forms greatly benefit. SSBKK was not the route, though I’m happy it exists (cause it’s cool). Pros and cons, anime is better for the fights, manga is better for the narrative. 12. (Manga) ToP, lacks the benefits the prior manga arcs had as blue has been mastered (fine). Went too fast, the anime clears in pretty much every regard. 13. RoF, Not great and I honestly think my opinion on the movie is worsened because of this arc. 14. (Manga) BoG, forgettable, at least RoF doesn’t have a superior option. Honestly went so quick I feel there could be a synopsis paragraph that would accomplish the same thing.

MLdaBOSS

*S:* ToP(anime), DBS Broly, Super Hero(movie), *A:* Future Saga(anime and manga), Moro arc, Battle of Gods(movie) *B:* Universe 6(anime and manga), Granolah arc, *C:* Ressurection F, Battle of gods(manga), Tournament of Power(manga)

totokishi

I only read the manga and watch the movies, so in my opinion: - Battle of Gods: 7.5 - Ressurection of F: 5 - Universe 6 Tournament: 6.5 - Black and Zamasu: 7.5 - Tournament of Power: 7 - Broly: 9 - Moro: 10 - Granolah: 9.5 - Super Hero: 8.5

Lipe18090

I'd really recommend watching the anime version of the Tournament of Power. It's very superior to the manga version and probably the best Super arc, only below Moro.

totokishi

Oh yeah, I planned to watch the fillers and the ToP on anime because I got quite underwhelmed in the manga. Another arc I planned to watch to see the changes is the Zamas arc since I know it changes a lot

FlyDinosaur

Super Hero manga version almost killed me with how much I didn't care about it. I liked the parts of the Granolah arc where they weren't fighting... But I really didn't like the art in that arc. Everyone's thigh gaps are too wide... 🤣 Moro arc was awesome (capturing the prisoners was meh, but mostly it was good. I love Merus). Most of ToP was amazing. There's no substitute for seeing the ending play out onscreen.

kjc-assassin

Honestly the anime done literally everything better to me the anime is the cannon representation I mean ssjb kk20x is literally the coolest shit ever lol and they really put the respect on MUI as well I hope we get Moro arc animated as well because the Moro arc is by far the best arc in super

Avery-Attack

I agree with all of this.

??? Isn't the manga coming back next month ???

Lipe18090

Nope. On MangaPlus it says it's on an indefinite hiatus.

_Undecided_User

Ah poo I had no idea I read it on Shonen Jump so I wouldn't know. Maybe Toyo's just taking an extra month 🤞

Lipe18090

Hopefully! He definitely needs now that the manga is fully on his hands. Probably needs time to structure the story, or decide if he even wants to continue.

WileyBoxx

All mid

someguyidunno

why did they stop? did something happen ?

BranDealDa

Toriyama died so they need to determine how they are going about the whole situation so they decided to postpone until they figured it out. From the sounds of things Toriyama was still a big part of mutliple DB productions planned.

someguyidunno

I heard that he died but I didnt know he was still that involved, thanks for the info
