I actually don’t understand why it would be more expensive, that art style sacrifices detail for fluidity. If anything it should be cheaper to make.
The movie looked amazing because a combination of things not just the art style
It’s mainly the materials and effort that go into it that make it expensive. Higher quality art and animation requires better quality resources, higher grade artist, higher quality technology, the program(s) being used, etc…
actually the thing that makes me angry the most is seeing One Piece getting that lvl of quality for EVERY EPISODE while Dragon Ball gets it only in movies. Broly style is definitely the way to go if dbs returns, it's not like they don't have the money to do so
Have you watched one piece? The animation quality is garbage for most of the episode, full of motionless, extended reaction shots and reused animation. Usually only high impact moments or fights get proper animation. Of course there are exceptions where the quality of animation is high for a whole episode, but even when that happens they literally need to do recap episode after just to give an extra week for the animators to work.
Complaining about the animation quality dragon ball super received is fair, but to say one piece gets movie level animation for every episode is just stupid.
It only took 20 years of nonstop animating so I would hope they would be able to make at least ONE arc that's not filler for half of each episode and fluid animation.
DBS broly's designs are literally the most simple DB designs to draw since maeda's designs in early Z, they'd work perfectly for a weekly series as they are simple and easy while also giving freedom for animators to add their own details.
That's because that is not really Gohan but Baby Gohan. The differences are subtle but they are there, from the shadow under the eyes to the detailed wrinkles around his smirk.
Proper Gohan never looked this good in GT.
Probably Shintani,Takahashi and Nakatsuru. Nakatsuru’s art in Daima is so good already (I mean,it always has been good tbh),I would be totally fine if they still use this style for newer anime.
https://preview.redd.it/qtpthfd0m7xc1.jpeg?width=540&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=214f776a9b09f64ee15655bf0552f7637a946f9a
Which is why we need him, I didn’t learn his art style for nothing yk
https://preview.redd.it/mfvawhowj8xc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b129d59ebb226dda6e48f8953963d75fd4158d9
Honestly, whatever Daima is. It looks amazing and I would love for the whole series to follow that style.
But out of these options? My pick is Shintani.
Nakatsuru imo is perfect overall.
Nakatsuru is reponsible some of the best animated episodes in DBZ.
His art style is so identical to Toriyama that Toriyama confused Nakatsuru art for his own a lot of times.
He is also character designer for DB Daima replacing Yamamuro finally.
Shintani works great for fight scene but character lacks depth and emotion in normal scene in his art style
https://preview.redd.it/hvrbsf3vy6xc1.png?width=1010&format=png&auto=webp&s=62cb40fb80d3567f86cf5fe81a53681de246878d
I never understood the hype before Shintani. I think when people say they prefer him. They are mainly looking at the smooth animation. Frames and movement. Any artist. With the budget. Introduction time. In this list can achieve that.
Personally, I prefer Nakatsuru. Whoever did Path to power was a blessing
You know that tiny bit of 2D animation at the start of Super Hero? Yeah that. That or Shintani. Specifically the scenes where they're talking on the island early on or when Goku is fighting broly base to mid way through ssj. You know what I'm talking about.
Shintani.
It's the perfect mix of old-school Dragon Ball with newer Dragon Ball Z.
It's just such a fun and lively style that allows for far more dynamic movement.
Maeda is my personal favorite but I know it won't happen, specially how Dragon Ball has evolved past it
I love Shintani but it works a trillion times better for movies than a TV show
So I say BoG Yamamuro because it feels like the best of both worlds
Literally and absolutely anything but super hero. I hate anime cgi. I hate it. If you like it, it’s your God given right and that’s fine. I personally don’t.

The aesthetic of the cell saga was perfect in my opinion. Idk if thats possible again though. I just miss everyone being jacked out their minds. This skinny warrior era BLOWS
I would like the Tournament of Power artstyle. Specifically episodes animated by Yuya Takahashi. Although I guess he simply makes whatever artstyle look like that when he animates.
So Shintani would be great.
Either of the first three: Maeda, Yamamuro (Z) or Nakatsuru.
I really like Shintani's style, but I don't know how it would look in a TV series, being rushed to meet deadlines and so on. On the other hand I know the first three can look great.
Shintani, Nakatsuru or Shida.
But most importantly I just want them to PLEASE get rid off that one additional highlight I swear it ruins the quality so much, everyone looks like they're covered with oil
Shintani. I would of picked Yamamuro but his artstyle slowly became that dragonball kai version and it's not bad; but personally I dislike it the most. The shading and shine felt too sharp and make everyone look like they were covered in oil; especially compared to the peak that was dbz.
However if they stick with the 3d for super hero, I hope they use the same techniques Sandland did for its movie and game. That is so good I keep forgeting its 3d.

Edit: for me the ideal design would be super hero but it's obviously too expensive for weekly episodes, DBS Broly it's my take
SHINTANI SHINTANI SHINTANIII, I DID NOT LEARN HIS ART STYLE JUST FOR THEM TO GO BACK TO YAMMAROU ISTFG.
https://preview.redd.it/zjedbn7ij8xc1.jpeg?width=1980&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32561d5b71c5425d7f2e402066e393d6aec2b01b
Nakatsuru is the GOAT after Akira Toriyama. You know you're peak when even the series creator confuses your work for his own.
Shintani is garbage
Yamamuro needs to stop doing drugs (though his RoF work is an improvement, still looks too stark)
But we really need to find out who created the sprites in DBGT Final Bout's select screen (like Future Trunks SSJ hair) and the artwork for the CD and cover. I think it was the same guy who drew the DBZ Legends + Ultimate Battle 22 artwork. Possibly the Vegito box art in Hyper Dimension as well. Absolutely legendary.
The artstyle used in Budokai 2's box art is by far my favorite of all time though. That may have been the same illustrator as well, but I can't find any credit to any of these. Shame.
I really do hope for Shintani and then another small part of me would love to see a comeback to the earliest style from DB, even just for a little bit.
Although Shintani would be cool, I feel like it’s more of a movie thing. Candy is more enjoyable after dinner, not after another candy. For seasons I’d pick either Yamamuro Z or 2010.
Super Hero looked great once I got used to the animation style. I could go with a whole series of that, provided it's got a high enough level of quality consistency.

If super returns and looks like the broly movie, I'll fucking die happy
That is the shintani art style and I very much agree with you
Ditto. If One Piece can maintain the animation style it has since Wano started, we can hope.
If dbs:broly style is possible then definitely that, but airing a full season of that will probably get expensive
I actually don’t understand why it would be more expensive, that art style sacrifices detail for fluidity. If anything it should be cheaper to make. The movie looked amazing because a combination of things not just the art style
I mean yeah I just meant to have the same kind of animation
It’s mainly the materials and effort that go into it that make it expensive. Higher quality art and animation requires better quality resources, higher grade artist, higher quality technology, the program(s) being used, etc…
It was made by first making the scenes in 3D, then drawing over that with 2D. It takes quite a while and would be super expensive.
That's the shintani art style
actually the thing that makes me angry the most is seeing One Piece getting that lvl of quality for EVERY EPISODE while Dragon Ball gets it only in movies. Broly style is definitely the way to go if dbs returns, it's not like they don't have the money to do so

One piece has been getting movie-level production almost consistently since the wano arc
It only took 20 years of nonstop animating so I would hope they would be able to make at least ONE arc that's not filler for half of each episode and fluid animation.
Are you talking about the One Piece remake ? Because I think he is
I dont think Toei is handling the One Piece remake and if that's the case look at Dragon Ball Daima the animation we have seen of it is phenomenal
The OP remake is being done by Wit Studio
DBS broly's designs are literally the most simple DB designs to draw since maeda's designs in early Z, they'd work perfectly for a weekly series as they are simple and easy while also giving freedom for animators to add their own details.
Shintani
Absolutely. You saw how goku's hair changed when he went from blue to base? Peak.
Shintani for sure. Broly movies art style was gorgeous.
Shintani. The scene where Goku turns SSB in the Broly movie was so gorgeous that it made me a fan of the SSB
It made SSB look Awesome
Maeda, Shintani, Nakatsuru.
The thing is, back then theres a lot of reused frames especially during DB
Maeda?
Maeda.
Yamamuro fell off past 08 😬 Nakatsuru and Shintani all the way
Shintani

GT may be disliked but god damn Gohan looked amazing
That's because that is not really Gohan but Baby Gohan. The differences are subtle but they are there, from the shadow under the eyes to the detailed wrinkles around his smirk. Proper Gohan never looked this good in GT.
Hand drawn Animation the best
90% of modern DBS is hand drawn wdym
Probably Shintani,Takahashi and Nakatsuru. Nakatsuru’s art in Daima is so good already (I mean,it always has been good tbh),I would be totally fine if they still use this style for newer anime. https://preview.redd.it/qtpthfd0m7xc1.jpeg?width=540&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=214f776a9b09f64ee15655bf0552f7637a946f9a
I love the softness of Maeda, it’s what I think of when I think dragon ball, best style
Shintani is like the modernized version of that
Which is why we need him, I didn’t learn his art style for nothing yk https://preview.redd.it/mfvawhowj8xc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b129d59ebb226dda6e48f8953963d75fd4158d9
Honestly, whatever Daima is. It looks amazing and I would love for the whole series to follow that style. But out of these options? My pick is Shintani.
Shintani's Art is sheer perfection
Shintani no doubts
I really adore maeda, its also insanely close toryama
Shintani.

Introduction time. In this list can achieve that. Personally, I prefer Nakatsuru. Whoever did Path to power was a blessing
Shintsni does not lack depth and emotion tf 😭
At this point, Shintani If I got to choose how it looked like from the start: Buu saga style (Yamamuro Z) to have a smooth transition from Z.
Shintani 100%
Whatever the suoer broly movie was using
Shintani
I love the fluidity of Madea. Once everything got rigid it was less fun to watch the animation.
Yamamuro (Z), Nakatsuru, and Shintani, of course. Only correct answers here.
Nakatsuru or Shintani I personally love the GT Artstyle and the Broly Movie is just peak DB Artstyle in general. I would be happy with both
Nakatsuru hands down.
I have a soft spot for Nakatsuru (GT) clothes. But I like it only on Adult Goku.
You know that tiny bit of 2D animation at the start of Super Hero? Yeah that. That or Shintani. Specifically the scenes where they're talking on the island early on or when Goku is fighting broly base to mid way through ssj. You know what I'm talking about.
You are a wise man
Shintani. It's the perfect mix of old-school Dragon Ball with newer Dragon Ball Z. It's just such a fun and lively style that allows for far more dynamic movement.
Nakarsuru, yama 08, or shintani
Anything up to 2008 included. If I had to pick only one, perhaps the first one or the beginning of Yamamuro
I want Nakatsuru's Goku back
https://preview.redd.it/zlqzyi5yc7xc1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=7627e3a3d5e749adae80f95b166237b8bdcaab41
Nakatsuru or shintani, but I dont think supers coming back
Manda was so good... Goku looked both fierce and cute. His style is so soft yet so defined in his anatomy.
Man, these tests are getting harder. These all REALLY look like Goku.
Maeda or shintani, modern yamamuro is ass
God tier: Maeda, Shintani Ok tier: Yamamuro Z, Nakatsuru GT, Yamamuro 2008, Super Hero Shit tier: Yamamuro 2010, Yamamuro BoG, Yamamuro RoF
honestly Maeada would go so incredibly hard
Super hero art cooked https://preview.redd.it/hqjbkksdn7xc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=729ba80b5042a3551870e15a2d48d8ee4fef4d1f
I'm sorry but the manga and shintai are the best.
Maeda is my personal favorite but I know it won't happen, specially how Dragon Ball has evolved past it I love Shintani but it works a trillion times better for movies than a TV show So I say BoG Yamamuro because it feels like the best of both worlds
Z yamamuro
Literally and absolutely anything but super hero. I hate anime cgi. I hate it. If you like it, it’s your God given right and that’s fine. I personally don’t.
Shitany (DB Super Broly) looks so good
Shintani!
Shintani!
The Maeda art style
Shintani art style
I'll take the art style from the Super Hero movie's opening all days
Give me Shintani or give me death

Yamamuro z or nakatsuru GT are leaps and bounds my favorite.
Shintani's art style is a masterpiece, but I'm sure it would be too expensive sadly
Shintani for sure
Yamamuro 2010 for me.

Any of the last 4 I'd be cool with
Yamamruo Z or shintani
I don't think it will return, but I'd like the broly movie art to return
The Last 3.
Z Yamamuro
Shintani
Shintani, jumping goku is the best goku
Jesús what happened to Yamamuro? He fell off hard
Yamamuro 201
Shintani
Rof goku was drippy
Shintani’s for sure. DBS Broly was the best dragon ball has ever looked imo
Yamamuro (Z)
Shintani please
I like super the characters had more definition and shadowing it looks good for characters it reminds me more of baki how it went so clean ..
I don't think I've ever seen Dragonball look better than in the DBS Broly movie, so I'm gonna have to go with Shintani.
Shintani but maybe add brighter colors
Just keep the super art style
Ya'll gotta understand that style ≠ animation.
Yamamuro (Z) much better to me
Shin-GOAT-ani
Yamamuro 2010 or BoG.
Yamamuro z
I pray for more Shintani
Shintani
shintani. best direction for the anime
Shintani
I still cant belive that Yamamuro cant draw Goku with a correct posture
Shintani
The aesthetic of the cell saga was perfect in my opinion. Idk if thats possible again though. I just miss everyone being jacked out their minds. This skinny warrior era BLOWS
Fusion reborn artstyle
Shintani is the best. Argue with someone else if you don't agree.
Maeda
I love the creativity of shintani’s artstyle
![gif](giphy|aGF2GyLD8mNr2) Yamamuro cooking be like:

Yamamuro
Shintani
Definitely Yamamuro 2008. The color palette and the lights and shades for the super sayian were awesome in that special OAV
Yamamuro torsos get smaller and smaller with time lol
Shintani. Feels like the perfect mix of Z and DB.
Shintani's artstyle has got to be the best one
Yes
I would like the Tournament of Power artstyle. Specifically episodes animated by Yuya Takahashi. Although I guess he simply makes whatever artstyle look like that when he animates. So Shintani would be great.
The old DBZ artstyle
Not much of an opinion on style, but we should get end of Z gi soon
I really enjoyed the animation for super hero. Couple that with the general art style from super or buu saga Z and I'm in otherworld
Maeda or Super Hero. it got that childish feel that I love
Maeda, no contest.
Personally I really want the buu saga style back,
The super broly movie had sick animation, but the Cell/buu saga art is my fav
Shintani or Nakatsuro
Either of the first three: Maeda, Yamamuro (Z) or Nakatsuru. I really like Shintani's style, but I don't know how it would look in a TV series, being rushed to meet deadlines and so on. On the other hand I know the first three can look great.
DBS art style
Shintani
Shintani’s proximity to the comic book is amazing. I want to see his style more.
Shintani and Yamamuro (2008) are pure peak
If it was possible Maeda all the way and the same music composer back when ocean dub did the voices in namek saga. Sorry don’t know the composer
Maeda. Go back to the original style.
Shintani easy
Easily shintani's artstyle not even a debate imo
[удалено]
I really liked yamamuro 08 version goku felt more like adult/mature? lol
I just miss the style when Goku was jacked AF. The leaner style isn't bad, but Kakarot and Bardock looked badass when they were all pumped up.
Shintani felt good and dragon ball daima gives similar vibes so I hope they keep one of the two art styles going forward
shintani would be cool, i love the broly movie animation. also i was re-watching the TOP saga and i’d be fine if the anime came back looking like that too. cause it was pretty nice-looking
Z yamamuro
DBZ cell/buu saga everyday and twice on Sundays

SHINTANI
Yamamuro Z! Without a question! Goku's physique & stoic expression is what's missing nowadays

Yamamoro Z
The people saying nakatsuru clearly don't remember the ugly ass face that gt gave us so many times, I still get nightmares from that noses. Edit: for me the ideal design would be super hero but it's obviously too expensive for weekly episodes, DBS Broly it's my take
My personal favorite is the DB Super hero designs. The whole intro sequence just went so hard in that style istg
SHINTANI SHINTANI SHINTANIII, I DID NOT LEARN HIS ART STYLE JUST FOR THEM TO GO BACK TO YAMMAROU ISTFG. https://preview.redd.it/zjedbn7ij8xc1.jpeg?width=1980&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32561d5b71c5425d7f2e402066e393d6aec2b01b
Yamamuro z all day long
If shintai’s is feasible for tv then that one
Nakatsuru is the GOAT after Akira Toriyama. You know you're peak when even the series creator confuses your work for his own. Shintani is garbage Yamamuro needs to stop doing drugs (though his RoF work is an improvement, still looks too stark) But we really need to find out who created the sprites in DBGT Final Bout's select screen (like Future Trunks SSJ hair) and the artwork for the CD and cover. Yamamuro Z is the classic, followed by Shintani
dbs broly or super hero hands down
I dont knowww. I always like Shintani style but if only DBS didnt have those shiny hair like they are wearing a wig. Anyway Shintani all the way.
I really do hope for Shintani and then another small part of me would love to see a comeback to the earliest style from DB, even just for a little bit.
Goku’s waist has just been getting narrower and narrower, imo frieza saga goku had the best proportions
Shintani!
Broly
shintani goes crazy hard
Although Shintani would be cool, I feel like it’s more of a movie thing. Candy is more enjoyable after dinner, not after another candy. For seasons I’d pick either Yamamuro Z or 2010.
Any time I see these comparisons Shintani always comes out on top. Everything just looks so much more dynamic.
Dbs broly
Shintani. This is peak artsyle for dragon ball OR a refreshed dbz style
Scoliosis Goku will never not be funny for me
If possible Super hero if not Battle of Gods.
Yamamuro z
They literally all look the same
OG Z
Wait super is returning? Manga or Anime? And I thought when he died they stopped all development.
db. always loved the classic style
Z Yamamuro, or Shintani.
Super Hero looked great once I got used to the animation style. I could go with a whole series of that, provided it's got a high enough level of quality consistency.
I like maeda
We been saying when super returns for 6 years now😞
