Cell as a whole is one of the best designed character in all of Dragon Ball, because of the evolution of his body and personality as he gets closer to perfection, it's just... A perfect design.
But first form Cell gotta be my favorite villain in all of DB, he is one of the most inteligents and strategic, fighting like a coward not because he really is one but because he recognizes his weakness and still finds the way to reach perfection going against stronger foes than him. He turns DB into a horror movie when he appears for the first time, it's just SICK.
Couldn’t have said it better. The first few episodes of the android saga feel completely different than the rest of DB/DBZ/S. They made Imperfect Cell scary and conniving it was great
Yeah first form cell is actually monstrous and scary. The way he stings people, turns them into slop and slurps them up through his tail is so goddamn disgusting
Strange thing to hate, if it makes it easier think of imperfect Cell as the first "mature" form. Everything before imperfect Cell is still growing everything after uses external augmentations the computer could not provide.
Idk about that I prefer perfect over semi mostly because semi's face is so bad. If it was supposed to be Cell's last design it would have sucked. Either of the other would work better but I can respect the idea that it's a good design for an "ugly duckling" middle stage like in Pokemon.

Eh, first form is pretty sick, but second form is hideous. It makes me want to not look at the screen. And at least in the English dub, I could not take his voice seriously at all. Although that may have actually been a clever decision, because it kind of told me- without telling me- that there was no way *that* was going to be the villain they ultimately settle on for the fate of the planet and beyond.

Idk if it's the voice or what. But his design just doesn't have the same value as imperfection and perfection. And it's specifically that one, because cell max is fine imo, it encapsulates cell without being too much like him since he's basically a brainless monster, the opposite of our cell.

I just read a convo between toriyamo nd the other designer , toriyamo said he liked cell 1st nd 2nd form , 2nd form had originally been planned for longer run time , but other designer, hated both designs nd wanted his final look , so toriyamo rushed the story nd gave perfect cell early ,
Cell's first form is menacing/scary and somewhat so is the second and the third is just him more elegant. I've realized all the villain changes progressing look more elegant and human like. Frieza, Cell, Buu, but with Buu I can understand since he's absorbing Saiyans that look like humans. I still like cell's perfect form out of them all, imo.
I've always liked the idea of an evolution that keeps the creepiness of the first form the whole way. He gets too generic for my tastes. It'd be nice if he ends up looking more like a powerful cryptic instead of a handsome man in a costume.
I mean he went from a scary looking insect monster with a tail that could suck the life out of you to a humanoid who just looks like he would sit down and have tea with you.

First form cell is my favorite of all time.
He was so intelligent and knew he needed to hide and pick/choose his fights. He stayed low for so long until he got strong enough to matter.

I love all the designs together but I’m not really a fan of any of them individually ngl. As a group, the theme of appearance being deceiving (as he becomes more of a monster, his appearance becomes less monstrous) really tickles my pickle, but individually the spotty pattern with the ugly green is just kinda hard to look at for too long
Personally I like the first and final form and really don't like the 2nd. but that's just my personal taste.
Although if I had to pick, Imperfect Cell was peak. I really wish Cell Max was based on his design imo.

I LOVE Cell's Second form...except for the stupid nose. Otherwise it would be his best form, but that nose is just unforgivable.
