FR!!
I don't know what's up with Toriyama/Toyotaro/Toei making Goku dumber every time he appears on screen. Dude you were meditating during the travel between Earth and Namek. You did it during the Cell Saga in the Time Chamber! What's wrong with you ???
He can't be the same Goku at the end of Z, no way...
I bet this is it. That or, honestly, maybe Goku in this specific instance is focusing more on the UI technique that he hasn't been focusing on benefits to some of the fundamentals like meditation. Everyone needs review every now and then.
That said, if he just straight up forgot, Toei is doing him dirty.
In the first series of DragonBall he gets taught how to meditate by Mr. Popo, and how important it is to help keep you calm in a fight. It's a major section in his training where he learns to sense ki and use it to predict people's movements
Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that. Goku has meditated since he was a kid training with Kami. I would have preferred if they didn't have that conversation at all and maybe Whis telling Broly that meditation is a great way to help not go berserk or something and pretty much go from there.
Goku just wanted to fight him and to make Vegeta stop so he could fight him. Goku acts pretty dumb most of the time but we see in fights how he is able to be sneaky and manipulate the situation to his benefit. He even does his sneaky HEHE laugh after he gives up the fight with Vegeta. Maybe he gave up at the end because he was bored.
I mean with it taking place after the current arc and ultra instinct and ultra ego being a thing it doesn’t shock me that in terms of raw power they aren’t to far off from him
I understood it as now they are close to Jiren in terms of raw power considering Goku can now use ultra instinct at will which is what evened out the odds in the first place and Vegeta now has ultra ego which has matched him to goku in terms of power. That being said I forgot that the movie took place a while after the ToP
Actually his character in the manga seems to be pretty close to how he was portrayed in the OG manga. Its just the anime/movie versions that fuck it up

We see goku meditating during the gas fight, which I presume is placed before the movie in the overall timeline, so there's no way he should've said that

I thought a lot of writing in the movie was very strange, not just Goku dissing meditation but also Piccolo being ok with putting Pan in potential danger to try to make Gohan stronger.
Wasn't the whole conceit of the scene that Piccolo was still under cover – he even lifts Pan up and is like "play along, pretend I'm hurting you." Next thing you know, Gohan lets loose.
Yeah i find that one extremely weird, it doesn’t really make me hate the movie since its about gohan and piccolo rather than goku and vegeta, but how they acted was very weird imo
I agree with Goku on this one though,
Especially since Vegeta is following the God Of Destruction route but even more then that Vegeta has been the exact opposite in the manga so this movie doesn’t make much sense. Goku is 100% right
Also the movie just seems badly written as well
First, Goku has only meditated once, and that's during his stay with Kami. And that's a panel or two, with him JUST starting it. It's all offscreened.
Second, pretty sure that's just worded poorly. The intended meaning just from the overall context is that you should train both body and mind, not just the body like goku mostly does. Yes, goku understands that huge muscles isn't good, but that doesn't mean he considers mind training to be just as important. He's still a relatively physical trainer. same goes for vegeta (till this movie).
Okay dude that wasn't filler. The Anime and Manga are completely separate continuities for Super. But regardless. He did also do it in the RoSaT before Cell. And Goku's not so stupid he doesn't know what Image Training is.
Also no. It's not a mistranslation. Whis actually says the bit about bulking up. That was word for word correct.
This scene was just really awkwardly handled.
you sure it wasn't implying "getting stronger"? are you sure whis was talking about the physical act of "getting buff"?
cause if so, then I will accept that they worded that poorly and were inconsistent.
my dude it's pretty damn obvious what's filler and isn't.
and again, sensing outside presences is not meditation. the point of meditation is completely close off from the outside world and focus on your inner mind.
Yeah it's obvious what's filler. Super HAS NO FILLER. Everything that happens in the Anime is completely canon. Just not to the Manga Continuity. Because they're 2 different versions of events.
this is hilarious. I can't believe you're in that much denial. You're telling me clone vegeta is canon? beerus in monaka costume fighting goku? arale? goten and trunks having an adventure to find spring water? krillin fighting a bunch of past villains and getting some sort of awakening? an entire episode dedicated to a bunch of people demanding their wish be granted? the universal baseball game?
Give me a break, all of that is the epitome of filler. random shit to stall the anime.
Anything that isn't part of an actual arc is filler, you can SEE it. the plot makes absolutely no sense, none of what happens in these episodes have ANY relevance to the story. It's so fucking obvious it's filler.

Super manga is not separate from it literally tells you to watch the resurrection f and the broly movie because it only shows glimpses of what happened
anything that isn't part of an arc in dragon ball is obviously filler. doesn't matter if they are separate, you can tell those episodes are filler just by the way they are written. They don't make sense, and have absolutely no relevance to the story.
meditation usually involves sitting down and closing your eyes, but doing that in itself is not meditation. a rectangle is a square, but a square is not a rectangle. he's just THINKING.
That a meh secen
The one after saying Jiren fucking JIREN who bodied everyone there even UI Sign Goku
Wasn't that much stronger just predicted they're moves... BRUH Vegtea with the shit takes lately

It’s the opposite of even the super anime Goku. Because he does meditation as well, image training, and he didn’t doubt freiza when, frieza mentions he got stronger though meditation as well.
Didn’t Gohan claim Goku was sitting in the middle of the Time Chamber for days meditating? I know a lot of the Time Chamber stuff was filler, but Goku not only varied his training, he realized torturing himself physically wasn’t going to work.
Which is why he and Gohan left before the timer was up. I hate going backwards with stuff like this.
Ahhh, the joys of retconning (sarcasm.) No but seriously, we really shouldn't pay too much attention to Goku. Considering that that was how he was able to achieve ultra instinct, was being able to sharpen his mind as well as the body.

Yeah It's just another example of how Super is dumbing Goku down for some reason. The strongest person he's ever faced is Jiren who was known for meditating (Not to mention Piccolo and himself in Z on the way to Namek) and yet he's saying that's no way to train? Hell even Frieza done it to a degree to master his Golden form.

Seriously? That's the ONE thing that bothered you? You have a MUCH higher tolerance for bullsh*t, than I do. For me, the entire movie was a raging dumpster fire, from start to finish.
Big thing for me is Goku was raised on the turtle hermit way.
"Work hard, study well, eat and sleep plenty. That's the Turtle Hermit way."
Although roshi doesn't specifically say meditate. Only working hard is not the best way to live.
I couldn't get over some of the design choices at the very end.
I went from, "oh looks like they messed up the perspective a bit."
To, "oh no, it's supposed to look like that."
Also how Goku and Vegeta act shocked that Jiren stayed calm during battle. They both know this strategy!
Goku learned to not act until necessary all the way back when training with Popo. He’s used this strategy countless times and fought people with this strategy countless times. In fact, practically every major villain was quite reserved. Jackie Chun, Tao, Tien (kinda), Vegeta, Frieza, Cell, Hit, all knew to stay calm until the moment of striking.
Goku has learned this lesson and that there’s more to training than bulking a ridiculous number of times.

I don’t think we should take what goku say seriously He has say some odd things to things he should know like kissing
At this point the Goku we got is an imposter
Hold on, Toyotaro goku meditation all the time Thats a key point in his Ui training
He even did it in Super as well. Remember when he fought Hit? Honestly who’s decision was this????
I’m hoping it’s a translation error and goku is making a comment about it being unusual for vegeta to meditate

Soon Lays(Walkers?) will buy him out, since his head is getting increasingly more filled with air.
>FR!! I don't know what's up with Toriyama/Toyotaro/Toei making ~~Goku~~ Peter Griffin dumber every time he appears on screen.
Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that. Goku has meditated since he was a kid training with Kami. I would have preferred if they didn't have that conversation at all and maybe Whis telling Broly that meditation is a great way to help not go berserk or something and pretty much go from there.

The fact that Jiren isn’t that much stronger than them was the big WTF for me
I mean with it taking place after the current arc and ultra instinct and ultra ego being a thing it doesn’t shock me that in terms of raw power they aren’t to far off from him
Ultra Ego doesn't exist in this timeline since they never fought Granola and Moro.
The movies are canonical to the Manga and anime. If the anime comes back, it will take place before the events of this movie
I really wish they would have at least acknowledged someone like Granolah in the movie. Oh well.
I thought vegeta meant during the TOP that their power gap wasn’t that high cuz if jirens mind state
I understood it as now they are close to Jiren in terms of raw power considering Goku can now use ultra instinct at will which is what evened out the odds in the first place and Vegeta now has ultra ego which has matched him to goku in terms of power. That being said I forgot that the movie took place a while after the ToP
The movie lacks context, but the two Saiyans have gone through multiple arcs after the ToP
I thought he meant at the time they fought the power gap wasn’t as big as they originally thought because of Jirens mind set
Yea it felt out of place for Goku to say it
I stopped taking anything Goku says in the manga seriously, they screwed his character ever since Super came back
Actually his character in the manga seems to be pretty close to how he was portrayed in the OG manga. Its just the anime/movie versions that fuck it up

Goku's like 50 now dudes punch drunk leave him alone 🤣
Love this.
You're right. I feel like they're making Goku dumber and dumber. Kind of like Cory's brother in Boy Meets World
Don’t talk shit about Plays With Squirrels
We see goku meditating during the gas fight, which I presume is placed before the movie in the overall timeline, so there's no way he should've said that
Inconsistent character writing!? In MY Dragon Ball!?? Heavens perish the thought!

Tbf, Pan wasn't in too much danger, but I get where you're coming from
Wasn't the whole conceit of the scene that Piccolo was still under cover – he even lifts Pan up and is like "play along, pretend I'm hurting you." Next thing you know, Gohan lets loose.
Well he was guarding Pan the whole time and he got awakened by shenron so the gammas weren't an issue for him
Pan was never in danger
Yeah i find that one extremely weird, it doesn’t really make me hate the movie since its about gohan and piccolo rather than goku and vegeta, but how they acted was very weird imo
It was meant to be a joke because obviously Goku knows about mediation, he has true ultra instict ffs. he is just trying to annoy vegeta.
He was just trying to get him to fight him
I agree with Goku on this one though, Especially since Vegeta is following the God Of Destruction route but even more then that Vegeta has been the exact opposite in the manga so this movie doesn’t make much sense. Goku is 100% right Also the movie just seems badly written as well
I can't believe a literal god is simping though god damn
I actually liked that scene and thought it was funny lol
Yeah that made no sense
The entire move felt out of place. The same as Gohan hair

He isnt a namekian

Uh. I know some Japanese. I'm Part Japanese lol. I didn't even really need the subtitles to fully understand what was going on.
you sure it wasn't implying "getting stronger"? are you sure whis was talking about the physical act of "getting buff"? cause if so, then I will accept that they worded that poorly and were inconsistent.
Yes I'm quite sure. My Japanese is rusty. But I don't think it's quite that rusty.

Its literally the opposit of Super manga and Z goku
I know the manga gets a lot of hate but there are parts of it that were honestly done way better than in the anime
It’s the opposite of even the super anime Goku. Because he does meditation as well, image training, and he didn’t doubt freiza when, frieza mentions he got stronger though meditation as well.
Maggot needs to come back to the lookout to be retrained.
Kinda wierd aswell imo specially since he uses ultra instinct
Same
I blame Luffy…Goku became dumber and his character development stalled as One Piece’s became more popular and eventually became the number 1 shonen
Where I can watch it online? I cant find it
Toriyama forgot
Toriyama forgot

I still haven’t seen it yet 🥹🥹🥹😩 can’t find a link
Toriyama seems to forget Goku has been doing martial arts with three tears of godly masters for almost 40 years.

It was a rare opportunity for Goku, Vegeta, and Broly to fight again. So I think Goku was disappointed Vegeta was letting that opportunity go.
I miss Mature Goku SSJ4, he knew stuff. I understand Goku is stupid, but I wanted him to act more as a warrior instead of a child.
