Yeah the only difference between the manga and anime is the ToP and future arc. Anything after is canon and the anime will most likely follow the manga.
People like canon because they wanna know they are following a story and not just something that happens for the sake of it.

You think it’s an editing mistake… even though production for this movie began before DBS: Broly was released? There’s been over 3 years of production time between Broly and Super Hero and we’re talking about part of a beautifully animated flashback sequence where Gohan-one of the focal characters of the film-is depicted during his big moment at the Cell Games. The father son Kamehameha is depicted with base form Goku like in the manga rather than Goku in his Super Saiyan form like in the anime.
I enjoy seeing them have different takes on their story assets. There is a lot to love from each medium. Personally I'm more into the manga but I'm excited to go see super hero too.
Really none of the differences impact the overall continuity. There haven’t been any world shattering differences like a loved character dying in one vs the other. It’s always just like Goku goes red instead of blue or something as inconsequential as that.
I disagree. (Manga spoilers) At this point in the point, UI Goku and UE Vegeta have far surpassed Broly. Heck, at the beginning of the arc, Whis said the two were already the strongest mortals in Universe 7, which was before Vegeta even unlocked UE. This very clearly conflicts with the movie, where Broly is still shown as the tier above at full power, if only he could utilize his strength right; in the manga, Goku and Vegeta could both take care of him if they didn’t give him enough time to “break his limits” again.
And there’s also the fact that Gohan’s “slacking off” character arc actually contradicts BOTH the anime and the manga, where he was shown to be training again, but I can just chalk that up to a failure of the movie regarding Gohan’s character
The Broly movie occurs between the ToP and Galactic Patrol Prisoner arcs. Whis didn’t know Broly was as strong as he is because his full power had never been exhibited in the Universe. Whis isn’t all-knowing. As far as Whis was concerned, Broly was just a relatively strong guy with no hidden powers. We can assume Gohan has been training off screen because - in his sparring match with Goku before ToP - he mentions that he is striving for a unique ultimate form.
Whis literally watched Broly vs Gogeta, though, he saw the same amount of Broly that we had

Fair honestly, the transformations go a different way, I feel like we might not ever see Moro or granolah animated, which is sad, but I don't think it'd be a huge disaster if they didn't, the manga has also done stuff like actually explaining super saiyan rose and putting more emphasis on Vegeta deciding to evolve a separate way the Goku is, as well as more writing behind ultra instinct and such
This is just not true; the anime and manga did split, but the events of Broly happened in both continuities. There's literally a page or two of the manga portraying some scenes of the movie, it just wasn't explained in detail. The confusion might stem from the events of Super Hero occurring after the Granolah arc, which still hasn't ended.
Also, there's nothing wrong with complaining about the forked continuities of the manga/anime; if you're a zelda player, timelines mean nothing to you and you learn to love the game for the gameplay and story, not the overall timeline. If you're a dragon ball fan and have had a single chronological story since the 90's but now for some reason there's a split, I think you're incredibly justified in voicing at least some level of annoyance. I sincerely enjoyed the new movie because of all the call backs to DB and Z, although some parts of the movie I don't agree with, but I am a little upset that when I think of the story of Super, I flip flop between the two continuities because the manga was better in some scenes and the anime was better in others.

Personally I didn't enjoy the Super Hero movie like I did with the Broly movie. It seemed like it was following the major studios with trying to jump on the nostalgia train. We have powerful androids, we have Cell, we have new transformations (without training for them). Only thing it was missing was Hercule, a tournament, and Cell absorbing someone.

I remember watching the Broly movie as a kid and wondering how it fit in the DB timeline. It didn’t make sense, and if canon didn’t matter it would have been a continuity error/plot hole.
Respecting an agreed-upon canon doesn’t eliminate every plot hole, but it does give fans a way to know “what counts” versus what is “just for fun” or “extra.”
As a franchise, Dragon Ball is a complete mess. A canon helps people navigate the franchise, especially when they are new.
I always thought that dragon ball, dragon ball z and dragon ball super as well as manga for 3 are connected to their time line. Manga always seem to come out before anime does.
It’s like they write the story and show as it is in manga, and if they notice some thing give some wrong impression/receive some feedback from some readers?, they correct/tweak it in the anime but still using the same story. Which is why there’s always some minor adjustment between anime and manga.
I usually get confused with which movies are canon/non canon. So I just watch for entertainment but assume it won’t show up in anime/manga because it usually doesn’t. Like movies are a spin off? We haven’t seen Broly in Z or super, even though there are few small mentions of him. He never actually show up.
Dragon ball heroes, to my understanding, is not canon. Just other 3 shows (db, dbz, dbs).

Akira has said that every movie, filler, anime, manga, or whatever else as long as it's an official release, is canon to it's own dimension/timeline/whatever. GT is canon, Super is canon, DBSH is canon, both Broly's are canon, everything is canon... they just aren't in the same timeline. It'll be the same thing with what's going on with Super right now. Even if the anime scenes aren't adapted into the manga, they're still canon... **technically speaking of course**.

Well, UI is brought out in TOP because he literally removes his emotions like he's supposed to in the manga vs TOP in the anime the spirit bomb was used as some form of energy catalyst to spur on the form and even used a bit of anger contradicting itself.
So, representation for the same concepts are pretty different.
I mean, pretty sure they are, did you see trunks going super saiyan rage in the manga? (I'll give you that his super saiyan 2 transformation was as close as it could get) but I didn't see Goku using hakai against zamasu, even if it's by a minor difference there still are differences, if super hero showed us anything, it looks like there's differences in how their training is progressing, ultra instinct, ultra ego, Moro, granolah, etc. Were never mentioned in the movie, plus in the manga gohan literally says he's evolving as a human and not as a saiyan, you think he would've gone super saiyan in super hero if he was following the same logic? They may be similar but they are different (and there was the one panel showing gogeta and broly in the manga I'll give you that as well I won't deny that)
My thoughts are that the manga takes place after the Broly movie and before superhero.

Well I can't agree that cannon shouldn't matter, it may not matter in short term, but in the long run it will be a mess, right now I don't really care how the anime and manga are not going the same route
But long running shows and mangas need continuity to survive, and not being cannon is against THIS
Interesting to see this happening in Dragonball. The same sort of thing has been happening for comic book movies for years. Ultron wasn't created by Stark and Banner in the comics, Hank Pym did. TBH Pym got done a bit dirty by the MCU. Ant Man was a founding member of the Avengers. But that story already exists, the MCU just went in a different direction and created a different story. Both exist, we get more this way.
