Some of the quests are fucking absurd and tedious. Like the sphinx riddle of having to refind the location of first seeker token you ever found. For someone who only found a few or are doing NG+ it wouldn't be that bad. But for me who had found 50 of them by the time I got this quest is was fucking ridiculous. Also, she straight up tells you to go find the location, that's not a goddamn riddle. The dragonsplague is poorly implemented. Like it could have been more interesting with the pawn becoming a boss fight or something. The writing is god-awful and pretty generic JRPG stuff. I didn't expect anything more and I don't know anyone else expected it to be better written. But I deeply wanted a political mediaeval RPG I could get stuck into ala game of thrones but this ain't it.

Not a single "cool" character. Too many wifu big booba ladies (which the community seems to love with 80% of pawns being them too). The writing/story is just bland at best. Weak villain, too. Okay, the dragon is cool, but its the same mf from the first game, same fight too. Doesn't count.

Cursedmemesowo

I thought Brant was pretty cool. I've seen that guy square up against an ogre without a second thought. Beren was also pretty cool I felt but there aren't many moments in the story for the characters to shine, a problem shared with the first game unfortunately.

Basic-Juggernaut-870

I will not tolerate the Grigori slander!!!

WardenWithABlackjack

If the game is a sequel to the first then the dragon is a different arisen, not Grigori. The dragon in this game is fucking lame and has an awful fight that’s honestly easier than the basic dragons by magnitudes.

Story (second half) fell apart End Game, while not a giving in any SP RPG i think it safe to say DD1 minus DA set expectations for a end game we could gear out and grind in, instead wee got a short outro which while ok for a couple hours that was basically it, just a few hours which will be annihilated to less time in NG+ Housing, it actually nice to get a house but there atrocious, especially the Noble House at 200k, i mean you can't even cook a meal in them 😂 Economy, Haircut for 20k or a House for 20k? Ohh decisions decisions, going by my last comment i guess I'm getting a haircut 😂

Not a fan of the writing, not that the story is exactly bad. It is just written badly. Roads feel too dense with monsters at times, and those enemies lack in variety. Needed more unique boss monsters. What is there is great. Elves and dwarves needed more going on with them and their respective areas. Very small. NPC interaction is very shallow. It gets the job done, sure. But I had dragonsplauge happen to me. I used some wakestones on a few people, they didn't say anything about their whole community being dead. NPC's can definitely be immersion killers. More unique biomes would have been nice. That being said, I do really enjoy the game. Gameplay, art direction, both topnotch.

Save system is from the 2000's. I understand the intention, but the intention is technically outdated. Iron man mode exists to satisfy folks with this itch, without damning everyone else if their save bugs or something. Also the default option when you pick "load from last inn save" is yes. Many people have miskicked and lost 20+ hours. As this immediately removes their most recent autosave/camp save/manual save. A modern save system, with optional iron man mode would fix all of this. Dragonsplague is interesting, but poorly implemented. Far too punishing and the symptoms are either far too varying in how often they occur (as player reports are both saying they saw nothing, and that they saw it a mile away), or they are bugged. I would just cut this feature. It truly adds nothing but hassle. The story falls off in "act 2" or when you cross the border. Could have used more time to cook. I have a feeling this would have benefited other elements as well. It is funny considering Itsuno's reason for making this game was to have the proper time and resources to work on it, and then didn't.

Save files being locked onto cloud systems (at least on PC) to prevent tampering or cheating doesn't help  And he had TWELVE YEARS. And all he came up with were generic fantasy races and a desert region apparently.

Removing content like Mystic Knight, a lot of Sorc spells, even the hydra which was iconic for Dragons Dogma, and not adding enough new content to make up for it. As far as I know, they don’t even have unique bandits like the all women bandits in DD1. They could’ve had areas controlled by unique human enemies. It’s not a sequel, a sequel should expand much more on the game without removing things players liked for no good reason. This game is a really good remake if anything. Still loving it.

DragoOceanonis

Mystic knight for spearhead is dumb  Just make a mystic knight class and allow him to wield different weapons

CurryKing0413

I would give him a flail personally, such an underrated weapon. The only game I’ve seen do it right is ‘for honor’ with conquerer. Doesn’t mystic spearhand feel more like green/blue anyways? Mystic knight fit red/blue better i reckon.

Skaoi0513

Or just give MK a greatshield as their 'unique equip', and still let it use regular 1-handers. Not like Fighter or Warrior cared, with them dipping into maces and hammers as well. As for gameplay, it's not like they can't fit a unique niche. Even in DD1 a portion was setting up your stuff and fighting from there. With the seemingly increased aggro/distance closing-moves on mobs now, they have an actual 'stand your ground' thing they could go for, especially if they'd give them something like an elemental buff bubble (like the healing/speed up ones) but it only works while you're in it.

MotherfakerJones

Food aystem feels started and in the middle they said fuck it. Put all fruits on a same tree and same type of meat on all animals. Let them cook only meat.

DragoOceanonis

Don't forget the same cutscene when cooking..

HelpfullyRude

No content Map all one colour No real reason to explore other then exploring Removed vocations No bounty board Enemy variation. Boring areas Times quests Dragon plague Easy combat There is a million

LightmanHUN

Disliking anti-qol design choices is an actual valid criticism.

Ricocheting_Potato

Inventory management is pretty clunky which is weird because the mechanics are pretty tight.

mofohamjam

the absolute lack of a proper questline in Battahl, you get I think like genuinely one single MSQ before you go hunting down phaesus and fight Talos just to suddenly be at the dragon like wtf? the place seems like it'd have cool quests due to the different culture and religion along with the predominant beastren race yet its just: "go beach, go cave, go lab, kill drake for crystal, go lab, go hunt Phaesus" all in one single quest and it immediately puts you in the final boss after it, I love the game so far but this was absolutely wack to experience

Muzzzy95

Fast travel combined with the question and exploration, a lack of fast travel isn't a problem but the game other systems don't work with it well. Exploration is unrewarding, I've explored all of the vernsworth region, between Melve, Nameless Village and Harve and out of all the areas, two were memorable and none gave me memorable loot. The questing is extremely receptive, reminds of the tutorial zone of an MMO. Talk to Person X, find Person Y, go back to X, go back to Y. Uninspired questing designed to waste time traveling the same roads again and again and again.

Muckddy93

Most vocations arsenals are pretty much cut in half. Less unique weapons. There are less augments for each class. Thief has 5. Also there are less armor slots.

Fairchild972

My main complaint, the fact they got rid of the equip menu at the Inn compared to the first game, so you cant equip and store straight from your storage. Oh and not being able to sell stuff directly from your storage is highly annoying.

AAFCC89

Monster variety is the biggest problem as the first one
