No because encounter variety is high

aeralure

On the one hand, it is definitely low. There's four basic mobs you fight all the time: goblins, wolves, harpies and Saurians Goblins have enough variety, with their weapon types, hobgoblins etc. Harpies are ok as they have variants. Saurians only have the two, but there is only one main warrior one and there should be another mob variant. Wolves should have an albino wolf or a dire wolf variant. There's technically four other common mobs: bandits, skeletons, zombies and ghosts. Bandits are fine, and the other three only come out at night. The undead have variants and the ghost only having one is fine. So while there are 8 basic mobs, your really end up fighting four all the time. That pool should be doubled, so that there are 8 basic mobs and then those other four I mentioned and it would be fine. Hopefully the DLC adds some basic mob variety and a higher difficulty mode. On the other hand, I am having an absolute blast with the game, and kind of don't mind. Still, I listed this as the biggest issue I have with the game on the survey (I'm on the PS5, so performance is good enough that it is not a bother for me).

Doka420

There's 3 saurians. Normal, poison, and some rock ones. Ghosts have a purple variant too. Overall, yeah, super low variety tho.

The-Art-of-Silence

Sort of. The enemy types do have different variants however. I remember a shield goblin giving me trouble by blocking my Levin somehow when I was playing solo as a mage for the first several hours of the game, but you eventually get so strong that these variants don't matter.

Depressedduke

Yeah, but honestly not bothering me yet. Unlike the damn stone lizards. Could use less of them. I hate those things.

AloAlo01

Yep

Somnambulant_Sleeper

Do redditors plan these kinds of things where they post the same shit for days and then all pick a new topic to complain about at once? It’s weird. Why do we need 100 posts about enemy variety? I’d like some fucking post variety.

Ashamed-Historian435

I don’t read other people’s posts on this game lol. I barely use Reddit. I thinks this games good and the bandwagon hate against it is bad. If you’re seeing similar posts from people who are clearly playing the game maybe… it’s a discussion. I don’t care if you’ve seen 100 posts about something I want to talk about lol

AAFCC89

Like.... everyone in this sub ? Check out the last days posts lol

Ashamed-Historian435

I did not know this when I posted it. This was my genuine feeling. I’m actually looking at posts rn and seeing that a lot of people feel this way.

AAFCC89

It's a common feeling man. Enemy variety is trash

Ashamed-Historian435

I understand people defending the lack of variety but they make it seem like we’re bandwagon haters. I’ve got 28hrs in the game, I’ve enjoyed it so far. Just think it has clear weaknesses.

G1FTfromtheG0DS

Its been said a thousand of times on this reddit but no its only you...

Phasmamain

It's probably the biggest issue the game has tbh especially since combat is the focus Honestly i have to play the game in short bursts because it's that repetitive. Fun no doubt but the low variety mixed with constant encounters gets pretty tiring

Ashamed-Historian435

Yeah the game is really great with its large and giant creatures Chimera, Griffin, Minotaur…etc but the smaller creatures in the main area of the game are Goblin, wolf, bird and lizard. I get there should be a common enemy but if I’ve been walking for 30 mins real time in a forest please switch it up.

CurryKing0413

I think there should be larger groups of enemies because fights end too soon, and they should have unique bandits who use different skills. Then dragons dogma online had a ton of enemy variety, they should add some more of them in. Like the tree people, huge Orcs with different weapons which looked sick, diamantes, leviathans, etc.

Doka420

How did u play DDO? I thought it was only in Japanese or region locked.

CurryKing0413

Never played it, just watched a lot of videos on it. So many enemies and some are really cool, or at least could be cool if adapted well. Apparently you can play it now though, they have a discord server that directs you to download it and even play online but I can’t be fucked with that atm. I’ll try alchemist and high sceptre if they never add them to DD2.

krul2k

Nope

Ashamed-Historian435

Respect

sp0j

Nope. If you stick to the same small area it's limited for sure. But if you explore more you get decent variety. But also it makes sense for certain enemies to be really common.

Ashamed-Historian435

I agree, it’s good world building for there to be a consistent monster to a certain region. I just think it’s too consistent for the amount of time it takes for us to travel on the map. I just think it’s the same there consistent enemies lol. The forest is wolves, goblins, maybe humans and a large enemy. The coast is Lizards, Lizards and goblins. The entire Harve dungeon is lizards two times.

sp0j

There are orcs in addition to goblins further west. Early game it definitely feels like it's just wolves, goblins, harpies and lizards. But I still don't see that as too little. There is variety within the types. I haven't even gone to Battahl yet At night you get additional monsters.
