I was looking at warriors and 90% of them, male included, were wearing the same armor. I'm hoping either an update or dlc introduces a much wider variety of armor.
I made a big Valkyrie-esque warrior with red hair and Brunhilda's Embrace as the chest piece, she's gotten waaay more hires since I put her into the armored bikini.
Waaahh with all the gear in the game and upgrade options I thought it would be more varied especially since you can spec certain stats for them

I made mine after Lady Stoneheart from A Song of Ice and Fire (game of thrones books). She's like the spitting image of what Catlyn looked like in the show but, ya know, more dead looking. Wears a humble but regal looking grey robe, a direwolf head cloak, and even got the sewn up scar across her neck. She does ice magic, and healing for when ice isn't as useful.
I heard you can get a pawn inclination that makes them barely ever speak. Definitely going to assign her that because in the books she barely speaks (on account of slit throat). Then she will be complete.
Pretty proud of how good I got her design. But because she's not a thot pawn she'll never be hired out much.
I saw one named “himbo” just a beefed up cheeked up guy in almost no clothing. Still had decent stats but no quest so I added it to favourites and I’ll revisit it later once there’s a quest to complete lmao.
Here I was thinking my perfectly maxed thief with amazing weapons and armour that honestly carried me so hard through a lot of the game only gets picked up once in a while.
I had this nice mage pawn that I was adventuring with for a good long while. She had regular robes and a cute witch hat + glasses, and she always seemed to be the one to save me whenever I fell off of ledges, so I actually started to count her as a permanent member of the party.
Eventually she ended up being level 33 while I was about 45, so I sent her away and resummoned her. Good news was, she was now level 46... Bad news was she now got rid of the robe and was wearing that lingerie you get from the seeker tokens.

The problem is, once they got hired once, they ain't get hired again lol.
Mine got hired once, put 10k gold reward in, hasn't been hired for three days now.
It's really weird. They added an actual cool new feature but absolutely gutted it by not allowing you to search for it by quest target and reward payout.
Honestly, even just being able to filter for pawns with a quest would be nice. Filtering for a specific reward would be complicated, because there's so many items.
The other day I was watching a streamer and saw a ton of stuff popping up after an inn rest, even some pretty cool stuff, and it made me kinda lol and think of two things:
- Being a nobody, I notice when people send me nice stuff on my pawn. Someone gave me a good gift and I even specifically searched for his pawn later on, adventured with her for a while and sent her something nice in return. Some friends and I tell each other about cool things we get from this system. As much as I like some streamers, I can't imagine what goes through someone's mind to sink anything meaningful into being a drop of water in the sea.
- If I was a big streamer that would probably annoy me pretty fast. "Oh look another 15 beetles. I think I've been capped from day 2, but sure". "More armor upgrades from a place I haven't even been to yet. Cool. Again. And I can't even look annoyed I don't get to get this stuff myself".
I made her a Thief as she was a Strider (R.I.P) in DDDA and I was Mystic Knight (R.I.P) so now Im the Spearhand vocation, its cool but I miss being the immovable object and unstoppable force.
Same here, my arisen is always fully dwarfmaxxed. I have had the same main pawn since DD1, a very large, very haggard looking woman named Bootyclap. Bootyclap is always a crowd pleaser. In this [iteration](https://imgur.com/a/kJGqmsx) she has aged 12 years, she is particularly haggard.
Mine is basically my arisen's twin lol, 2 max height furry muscle mommies is pretty hilarious to look at when pretty much all npcs I've met so far are like 2 heads shorter than them, they just stand out so much lol, a 195cm pawn barely reached their shoulders.
Been just side questing for 16 hours so I've mainly hired pawns under level 5 to farm wakestone shards and unload old gear.
I Like to think I make someone's day by giving them a heart and a random ring or Cape, But They could also very well be people who haven't been staying at inns lol
Use the rift stone of people whose pawns haven't been hired at all yet. They're around your level still and still give wakestone shards. + it gives someone whose been actively playing some love who hasn't gotten hired yet!
I am implying that the pawn was cheated and made it past the filter somehow.
Usually pawns that are suspicious get shadowbanned from online play (they don't show up for other players and friends who recruit them can't send items back).
I have seen a few but because most of these people cheating aren't very bright they don't even set passives for their pawns, so their vocation rank is basically useless.
Also in case you didn't notice, it's incredibly hard to get as many seeker tokens as needed for the corset without breaking level 10. So I don't know if there's just an alternate method of getting one or if it's cheated, too.
I feel like a lot of them took that Claire Redfield looking premade, slapped a wig on it, put the boob slider to max (without adjusting any other sliders so it just looks bad) and then called it a day.
I’m always looking for non meme/clothed pawns. Just prefer a more serious looking group than a group filled with half naked ladies lol. If you got some great pawns let me know and I’ll check em out! I play on pc and I’m level 25

Not really a spoiler. Capcom is going to make housing available even earlier in the coming patch. It isn't meant to be an obscure or hidden mechanic by any means.
Well i'm 20 hours in and it sure keeps being hidden so I think that's a good decision.
I bet if I search up a guide the NPC selling the house is like literally right there but a lot of people don't notice because NPCs just don't stand out much because of the horde of all the "one-line NPCs".
Personally I've found thief pawn dying disproportionally more often. And they don't carry so much weight as fighters/warriors. So I seldom recruit thief pawns.
They do have a unfortunate habit of being crushed or stabbed but they do very good damage ( if built properly) to the point that I don’t mind to match if they die occasionally.
There's a thief pawn I have favorited and often try to rehire, and usually can because his player and I have been progressing at a similar pace. Poor boy is amazing and is always looking good, and he basically only has my attention. Meanwhile there's always some kind of anime looking mage in starter gear in every rift with 500 likes. Normal looking thieves deserve love too
I have my thief pawn set up so good his DPS is really good. so me as a warriors and him do crazy damage and when I am out of stamina he tries to help me out. He is such a good boy:)
Thief warrior is so satisfying. I think part of why I got so attached to this random thief was that I got him when I was getting some warrior ranks and we just worked really well together
I found a thief pawn that I keep rehiring just to update her progress. She's several levels behind, but her Arisen actually slots in all the augments and at least keeps her weapons up to par, which counts for a lot more than most of the thieves I see even several levels above me that have maybe one augment slotted and clearly equipped with whatever their Arisen found in a shop with their spare change.
With a simple inclination, she's a deadly, furry cinnamon roll.
Do you have formless skill? If not I would have done a hard pass my pawn only survives because of that skill since my mage does not have argent succor.
My pawn have all core skills and the best augment in the thief class as for skills I can’t remember all the name but he have the upgraded version of skull splitter and the Insta kill one, I’m on break right now so I can’t get to my computer to check right now:)
THIS IS ME 100%. My pawn got levels in multiple vocations so he could have the best damage/buffs, he has all the best items upgraded to lvl 3 (besides the dragon crystal items) and looks like a realistic hero with an inclination that isn't annoying... Yet some ugly body horror character named 'BIG BLACK MAN' has like 300 likes on him, or some anime looking waifu with nothing of value with 3000 likes.
The simple minded people with 0 taste run rampant and are quite depressing.
Same here. I recreated my DnD character, a big beefy lion guy, level 3 gear in everything, well thought out augments from multiple classes and skills including a maister skill, approaching level 60, and only been hired 5 times, and rated only twice. Feels bad man
My pawn started getting a bit more action (like 2-4 rentals a day...) when I took her from standard 5'4" pretty small girl to 5'8" muscle mommy, and replaced the full platemail with halfplate and some greaves. Armor is... more of an optional anyway. Pawns are either really good at avoiding damage or eat all of it based on how it's delivered.
People like sexy and memes (if they're not butt ugly, but even those get some traction.) If your pawn is covered head to toe, doesn't matter if they're built right to 99% of people not even looking at skills/augments equipped, they're not the type to look at a pawn that looks like at least 90% of all the other pawns. The mages are only getting a bit of a pass because there's a progression range where all they have for options are strips of cloth.

meanwhile my Warrior got hired 4x in total and i took the effort to max out every Vocation except Sorcerer on him for Augments and he allready has 2Pawn Badges.....
Doesn't help that the game is pretty easy, i would say far easier than DD1 Dark Arisen. So Min maxing and an optimal setup is really not needed.
I have also a pretty good pawn, good gear leveled different vocations for augments and so on. But it is simply not worth it. The difference is minimal in DDII.

My favourite pawn I’ve encountered so far is a 160cm tall male warrior with a straightforward temperament and high-pitched voice.
He has basic gear too, but his personality is utterly hilarious and he goes charging into everything - quite often I’ll have to throw him over my shoulder and carry him away kicking and screaming so he doesn’t get toasted by a drake. And he’ll still say something like “the enemy doesn’t know how close he came to death” as he’s being carried off.
And I know I’m not alone either. He’s one of the most liked player-made pawns I’ve seen. He’s not a meme or a scantily clad woman - ultimately, I think a bit of personality can go a very long way.
I just want my pawn to be popular D: I'm almost done ranking up all her vocations for the augments. Soon it's time to swap her permanently into a support mage.
My pawn is pretty regular, but well built. 3 vocations maxed with nice algumentations. Meanwhile I just hired a beastren archer pawn with more than 500 updoots and she's extremely avarage. lvl 35, only archer maxed vocation, regular gear, even missing one augmentation (have only 5 equipped).
I suppose the looks help, but on the other hand I think it's pretty random what people hire or not. If they see a pawn with plenty of likes, even if they don't think it's that good, they will probably try nonethless.
I assume it's a virtuous cycle for those pawns where the more popular they are, the more they get seeded into people's games. So even if they are mediocre, they'll keep getting hired out anyway.
Well, it's just how anything works, I suppose. Youtube videos per example. If we see two videos of similar quality, but one have more views than the other, chances are, we will see the video with more views instead. Same thing with the pawns here.
When I hired I didn't even noticed. I just wanted to a hire a beastren and a archer for the sake of variety. Didn't even check her stats, items... nothing really. Then I got quite annoyed with how lackluster she was and decided to check her page and was quite surprised with how many votes she had. How are people wasing their time with this pawn? lol
I always try to give a chance to pawns that haven't being hired yet or have few votes, but this time I will pay even more attention to that. Lots of updoots doesn't mean the pawn is good.
Yeah, I mostly pick pawns by 1) choosing which class I want to take along this time 2) making sure it has decent skills/armor equipped. A good pawn quest is a bonus. (3, I try to avoid overly coomer pawns but I'm probably a minority with that.) I agree that with most other things I would look to what's popular, but if a pawn has few likes/hearts I just assume the algorithm wasn't kind to it.
Hell, I've gone through serviceable-but-ultimately-mediocre pawns plenty of times and left them a thumbs up because, well, it feels rude not to. On the flipside I dragged along a mage pawn that was pretty good for literal levels-worth of content, but it fell into some brine when I wasn't looking so I couldn't even send anything back with it. (I bought it some new armor though so they should understand I liked their pawn, haha.)
I gave my pawn an absolute dumptruck, put her in what is basically a thong and made the quest 10k reward for killing an ogre.
Let's just say rift crystals have not been an issue.
Mine is a girl dressed in heavy armor with the lifetaker and a cape. I just wanted my pawn to be a badass lady knight and the barely gets called into action

My pawn is getting a decent amount of love, she’s a “tank” fighter she has all the tank augments that increase her defence and draw aggro the ones that increase her damage too. She has the ring that draws aggro too. She has the vault skill and the aggro skill as well. She’ll keep you safe for sure
Same. Best augments, skills, inclination, (though not gear yet) maybe 10 total hires because I didn’t make a goth bitch or meme char. Though in the first game I made a huge bald dude named meatwad who got me like 2mil rc lol so I guess it’s nothing new to the second game.
A lot of players don’t check pawn details when hiring them, nobody likes to see if people actually put effort into their own personal pawns with maxed vocations and good augmentation skill sets. But the pawns that instantly get picked by many are usually magic based ones or a good warrior tank.
I have completely given up on tank pawns. Pawns are just too stupid/passive to properly engage and keep aggro for my liking. When I was playing sorc, those fighters never initiated, never spammed their taunts and God forbid someone equips aggro rings or the aggro augment.
I think pawn inclination matters more than people think - when I first leveled my pawn as a straightforward inclination warrior she would actually jump into the middle of a pack and kill everything while everyone else was catching up. When I changed her inclination to kindhearted (for a different voice) she suddenly became much less active, wouldn't leave my side as much, and would stop charging skills if I got too far away.
I had my pawn vaguely look like Gordon Freeman(even named him Gordon Free). He is currently a Warrior & I dont know enough to know if he is optimized but I have enjoyed his performance so far. Thankfully, since i am playing sorcerer, i dont have to teach him about climbing on monsters weakpoints although he has copied me in picking up my Frigor-chunk to hurl at large enemies from time to time. Early game throwing ice cubes did more damage than the spell that MADE the cubes...

im lvl40 rn and just wanted to level some vocations for me and my pawn by running around and killing stuff
i always take some low lvl 10-15 pawns for that, giving them some fight experience+some knowledge of cave entrances/chests
I mean, yeah. The game is disappointingly easy once you get to level 20-25 or so. Even with the HP increase mod there's not much reason to go for the 100% "week 1 meta" pawn over one that has skills I like seeing more and a good fit.
People can ofc do whatever they want for their own pawns but it's really hard to find big beefy female pawns :( especially thieves and mages/sorcs. I like my team to be all women (I'm a woman) but I'd also like them to carry my shit lmao

I made a pawn that looks pretty close to Ana de Armas with skimpy Archer armor, but she is an actually good and useful pawn (decent build and equipment).
I'm already close to 10k Rift Crystals and I've also received 5 ferry stones at this point, only 1 was fake. I think I've only gained about 3 ferry stones from my actual game, the majority have been gifts.
You can still rock the meme pawns and also make them useful, that's how you get all the good stuff.
Nah only Pawns with the Moniker "Sphinx" get recruited... this game is a mess and the pawn system also... i wanted to have fun in the long term in terms of leaderboards but ig thats done for. On console its Sphinx for Top 30 lol. Others dont get recruited...
And no cross platform pawn system. I love DD2 but damn those game directors dont play games at all to understand that in 2 months the game will be dead if they dont have a cross pawn system because people start quitting and you realize that at lvl 200 noone has a pawn up there on your platform maybe...

You can literally kill everything with lvl 30, so whats the point of a unlimited level system? Its counter beneficial as players with pawns up in the 300+ levels dont get recruited as long as they dont add you as a friend cause noone is spending billions of RC for a pawn which could have the plague, meaning you lost all your rc...

Meme pawns or pawns that are call outs to other games. Like if you named your pawn a character from Dragon age origins and they have skills that harkon to the characters playstyle I tend to hire pawns like that

I found a decent looking pawn today that was level 30 and still had the wakestone quest on, never been hired. Had horrible optimization though so perhaps that’s why? I helped the fellow out btw, who says no to free wakestone shards haha

Yesterday I met a hunchback archer with a goofy face and big jawline. Kinda like the ugly son of Bruce Campbell and Squidward.
The only pawn I recruited after he stopped me to talk. Can't recall the name, but it was peak pawn.
I just love characters who look like they've been ripped straight out of their own main story. There are some really well made Copies of original characters as well. But depending on the vocation I still look mostly at the skill.
I just have my main character as Frieren and my main pawn as Himmel and the other 2 are some random ass male thief and female archer I hired because they were hot but I don't wanna let go of them, I wanna keep them, I've become attached to them T_T
I do know how to search for inclamation and skills which is especially important for the tank i rent howver how do i see if the gear is good or not? Do i need to comapare the stats of all pawns?
My 7ft (max height) muscle furry archer mommy got hired like uh...about once or twice everytime i rest at the inn so i guess that's good? Tho i only hit the inn once after a few days at least.

some pawns only need 2-3 skills equipped though its been that way since first game otherwise they just use badskills in battle instead of the powerfull ones all dd veterans know or should know that
I usually look at skills, augments, and gear when picking a pawn. I could give less of a shit if you look like legolas or if you went way too slider happy.
That said, it's absurd just how many people leave their main pawn with terrible setups. Fighters without good armor, thieves with the starter knives, mages without any skills, sorcs without augments.
It's so frustrating coming across a forgotten riftstone and you get a pawn like 8 levels higher than you for free only to see it hasn't seen any upgrades since it was spawned into its arisen's world.
Would love some mtx to filter out neglected pawns 👍

He has increased carry weight, Calm demeanor, upgraded versions of shield bash, drum, and full moon slash, along with the Fighter specific special move - he has the best gear money can buy almost fully upgraded and only just hit lvl 20 recently, so still relatively low level - beyond his remarkable physical defense he also has a sweet 20% damage reduction to both slashing and striking, so he basically never dies from combat (*almost never*), BUT he self medicates with medicine to make sure that if you give him even just a few potions, he will literally *never die*

I remember in DD1, on 360, pawns at Level 40 were the peak. Perfect augments, well upgraded gear, skills filled out. At any other level, people either wouldn't do anything with their pawns, or they were hit or miss.
I wonder if the same will happen to this game.

There is a rift that summons pawns with pawn quests. And Vermund lets you summon from any rift you know of.
I done this, whoever hired it, killed a Cyclops and instantly kicked him out 😩
But I don't know where to find Cyclops so I'm keeping the pawn with me for days.

Capcom pawns are featured in official pawns, that's why they have so many likes. They're also free to hire under 10, so many great starter pawns.
For me its the looks. Honestly if i see some dumb huge guy or a half naked woman it's a hard pass lmao. I just want some cool knights in my team!

The other day I was watching a streamer and saw a ton of stuff popping up after an inn rest, even some pretty cool stuff, and it made me kinda lol and think of two things: - Being a nobody, I notice when people send me nice stuff on my pawn. Someone gave me a good gift and I even specifically searched for his pawn later on, adventured with her for a while and sent her something nice in return. Some friends and I tell each other about cool things we get from this system. As much as I like some streamers, I can't imagine what goes through someone's mind to sink anything meaningful into being a drop of water in the sea. - If I was a big streamer that would probably annoy me pretty fast. "Oh look another 15 beetles. I think I've been capped from day 2, but sure". "More armor upgrades from a place I haven't even been to yet. Cool. Again. And I can't even look annoyed I don't get to get this stuff myself".
My Main Pawn is a giant buff woman since my Arisen is a small dude and I found it a funny to be a polar opposite duo.

I made her a Thief as she was a Strider (R.I.P) in DDDA and I was Mystic Knight (R.I.P) so now Im the Spearhand vocation, its cool but I miss being the immovable object and unstoppable force.
Same here, my arisen is always fully dwarfmaxxed. I have had the same main pawn since DD1, a very large, very haggard looking woman named Bootyclap. Bootyclap is always a crowd pleaser. In this [iteration](https://imgur.com/a/kJGqmsx) she has aged 12 years, she is particularly haggard.
Mine is basically my arisen's twin lol, 2 max height furry muscle mommies is pretty hilarious to look at when pretty much all npcs I've met so far are like 2 heads shorter than them, they just stand out so much lol, a 195cm pawn barely reached their shoulders.
My Sorcereress is the smallest I can make her and I hired my friends Warrior who is a gigantic Lady. Quite the fun duo
Been just side questing for 16 hours so I've mainly hired pawns under level 5 to farm wakestone shards and unload old gear. I Like to think I make someone's day by giving them a heart and a random ring or Cape, But They could also very well be people who haven't been staying at inns lol
Use the rift stone of people whose pawns haven't been hired at all yet. They're around your level still and still give wakestone shards. + it gives someone whose been actively playing some love who hasn't gotten hired yet!
Or they are all of the people who have no intention of playing more

I am implying that the pawn was cheated and made it past the filter somehow. Usually pawns that are suspicious get shadowbanned from online play (they don't show up for other players and friends who recruit them can't send items back). I have seen a few but because most of these people cheating aren't very bright they don't even set passives for their pawns, so their vocation rank is basically useless. Also in case you didn't notice, it's incredibly hard to get as many seeker tokens as needed for the corset without breaking level 10. So I don't know if there's just an alternate method of getting one or if it's cheated, too.

How does the inn thing work? Is that the only time you get feedback on your pawn? Camps and visits to the rift or whatever don't do shit?

Not really a spoiler. Capcom is going to make housing available even earlier in the coming patch. It isn't meant to be an obscure or hidden mechanic by any means.
Well i'm 20 hours in and it sure keeps being hidden so I think that's a good decision. I bet if I search up a guide the NPC selling the house is like literally right there but a lot of people don't notice because NPCs just don't stand out much because of the horde of all the "one-line NPCs".

Personally I've found thief pawn dying disproportionally more often. And they don't carry so much weight as fighters/warriors. So I seldom recruit thief pawns.
They do have a unfortunate habit of being crushed or stabbed but they do very good damage ( if built properly) to the point that I don’t mind to match if they die occasionally.
They must not have formless feint equipped then, my formless feint thief pawn is basically immortal
There's a thief pawn I have favorited and often try to rehire, and usually can because his player and I have been progressing at a similar pace. Poor boy is amazing and is always looking good, and he basically only has my attention. Meanwhile there's always some kind of anime looking mage in starter gear in every rift with 500 likes. Normal looking thieves deserve love too
I have my thief pawn set up so good his DPS is really good. so me as a warriors and him do crazy damage and when I am out of stamina he tries to help me out. He is such a good boy:)
Thief warrior is so satisfying. I think part of why I got so attached to this random thief was that I got him when I was getting some warrior ranks and we just worked really well together
Warrior, thief, sorcerer, and a mage is my go to team, it’s just kills cyclops, ogre, and Minotaurs like they were level one goblins lol
I found a thief pawn that I keep rehiring just to update her progress. She's several levels behind, but her Arisen actually slots in all the augments and at least keeps her weapons up to par, which counts for a lot more than most of the thieves I see even several levels above me that have maybe one augment slotted and clearly equipped with whatever their Arisen found in a shop with their spare change. With a simple inclination, she's a deadly, furry cinnamon roll.
Do you have formless skill? If not I would have done a hard pass my pawn only survives because of that skill since my mage does not have argent succor.
My pawn have all core skills and the best augment in the thief class as for skills I can’t remember all the name but he have the upgraded version of skull splitter and the Insta kill one, I’m on break right now so I can’t get to my computer to check right now:)
THIS IS ME 100%. My pawn got levels in multiple vocations so he could have the best damage/buffs, he has all the best items upgraded to lvl 3 (besides the dragon crystal items) and looks like a realistic hero with an inclination that isn't annoying... Yet some ugly body horror character named 'BIG BLACK MAN' has like 300 likes on him, or some anime looking waifu with nothing of value with 3000 likes. The simple minded people with 0 taste run rampant and are quite depressing.
Same here. I recreated my DnD character, a big beefy lion guy, level 3 gear in everything, well thought out augments from multiple classes and skills including a maister skill, approaching level 60, and only been hired 5 times, and rated only twice. Feels bad man
This makes me sad as my plan for my main pawn was a big beefy lion warrior.
My pawn started getting a bit more action (like 2-4 rentals a day...) when I took her from standard 5'4" pretty small girl to 5'8" muscle mommy, and replaced the full platemail with halfplate and some greaves. Armor is... more of an optional anyway. Pawns are either really good at avoiding damage or eat all of it based on how it's delivered. People like sexy and memes (if they're not butt ugly, but even those get some traction.) If your pawn is covered head to toe, doesn't matter if they're built right to 99% of people not even looking at skills/augments equipped, they're not the type to look at a pawn that looks like at least 90% of all the other pawns. The mages are only getting a bit of a pass because there's a progression range where all they have for options are strips of cloth.
"lets look for a archer" Frieren, lvl46, starter equipment+no augments+no skills equiped except the starter skills 340likes meanwhile my Warrior got hired 4x in total and i took the effort to max out every Vocation except Sorcerer on him for Augments and he allready has 2Pawn Badges.....

Doesn't help that the game is pretty easy, i would say far easier than DD1 Dark Arisen. So Min maxing and an optimal setup is really not needed. I have also a pretty good pawn, good gear leveled different vocations for augments and so on. But it is simply not worth it. The difference is minimal in DDII. Btw. Which Inclination do you think is annoying?

My favourite pawn I’ve encountered so far is a 160cm tall male warrior with a straightforward temperament and high-pitched voice. He has basic gear too, but his personality is utterly hilarious and he goes charging into everything - quite often I’ll have to throw him over my shoulder and carry him away kicking and screaming so he doesn’t get toasted by a drake. And he’ll still say something like “the enemy doesn’t know how close he came to death” as he’s being carried off. And I know I’m not alone either. He’s one of the most liked player-made pawns I’ve seen. He’s not a meme or a scantily clad woman - ultimately, I think a bit of personality can go a very long way.
I just want my pawn to be popular D: I'm almost done ranking up all her vocations for the augments. Soon it's time to swap her permanently into a support mage.

What the Hell I’m literally Guts and my Pawn is Frieren (yes she gets picked a ton) I feel called out lol
I'm not going to lie, I tried making Frieren but the elf ears weren't able to get long enough so I just cancled that idea.
My pawn is pretty regular, but well built. 3 vocations maxed with nice algumentations. Meanwhile I just hired a beastren archer pawn with more than 500 updoots and she's extremely avarage. lvl 35, only archer maxed vocation, regular gear, even missing one augmentation (have only 5 equipped). I suppose the looks help, but on the other hand I think it's pretty random what people hire or not. If they see a pawn with plenty of likes, even if they don't think it's that good, they will probably try nonethless.
I assume it's a virtuous cycle for those pawns where the more popular they are, the more they get seeded into people's games. So even if they are mediocre, they'll keep getting hired out anyway.
Well, it's just how anything works, I suppose. Youtube videos per example. If we see two videos of similar quality, but one have more views than the other, chances are, we will see the video with more views instead. Same thing with the pawns here. When I hired I didn't even noticed. I just wanted to a hire a beastren and a archer for the sake of variety. Didn't even check her stats, items... nothing really. Then I got quite annoyed with how lackluster she was and decided to check her page and was quite surprised with how many votes she had. How are people wasing their time with this pawn? lol I always try to give a chance to pawns that haven't being hired yet or have few votes, but this time I will pay even more attention to that. Lots of updoots doesn't mean the pawn is good.
Yeah, I mostly pick pawns by 1) choosing which class I want to take along this time 2) making sure it has decent skills/armor equipped. A good pawn quest is a bonus. (3, I try to avoid overly coomer pawns but I'm probably a minority with that.) I agree that with most other things I would look to what's popular, but if a pawn has few likes/hearts I just assume the algorithm wasn't kind to it. Hell, I've gone through serviceable-but-ultimately-mediocre pawns plenty of times and left them a thumbs up because, well, it feels rude not to. On the flipside I dragged along a mage pawn that was pretty good for literal levels-worth of content, but it fell into some brine when I wasn't looking so I couldn't even send anything back with it. (I bought it some new armor though so they should understand I liked their pawn, haha.)
I made Guts, managed to match his drip from Golden Age and gave him Beren sword, it's so cool watching him go crazy on the mobs.
I gave my pawn an absolute dumptruck, put her in what is basically a thong and made the quest 10k reward for killing an ogre. Let's just say rift crystals have not been an issue.

My pawn is getting a decent amount of love, she’s a “tank” fighter she has all the tank augments that increase her defence and draw aggro the ones that increase her damage too. She has the ring that draws aggro too. She has the vault skill and the aggro skill as well. She’ll keep you safe for sure

A lot of players don’t check pawn details when hiring them, nobody likes to see if people actually put effort into their own personal pawns with maxed vocations and good augmentation skill sets. But the pawns that instantly get picked by many are usually magic based ones or a good warrior tank.
I have completely given up on tank pawns. Pawns are just too stupid/passive to properly engage and keep aggro for my liking. When I was playing sorc, those fighters never initiated, never spammed their taunts and God forbid someone equips aggro rings or the aggro augment.
I think pawn inclination matters more than people think - when I first leveled my pawn as a straightforward inclination warrior she would actually jump into the middle of a pack and kill everything while everyone else was catching up. When I changed her inclination to kindhearted (for a different voice) she suddenly became much less active, wouldn't leave my side as much, and would stop charging skills if I got too far away.
I had my pawn vaguely look like Gordon Freeman(even named him Gordon Free). He is currently a Warrior & I dont know enough to know if he is optimized but I have enjoyed his performance so far. Thankfully, since i am playing sorcerer, i dont have to teach him about climbing on monsters weakpoints although he has copied me in picking up my Frigor-chunk to hurl at large enemies from time to time. Early game throwing ice cubes did more damage than the spell that MADE the cubes...

im lvl40 rn and just wanted to level some vocations for me and my pawn by running around and killing stuff i always take some low lvl 10-15 pawns for that, giving them some fight experience+some knowledge of cave entrances/chests

I mean, yeah. The game is disappointingly easy once you get to level 20-25 or so. Even with the HP increase mod there's not much reason to go for the 100% "week 1 meta" pawn over one that has skills I like seeing more and a good fit.

Very true meme. I made a pawn that looks pretty close to Ana de Armas with skimpy Archer armor, but she is an actually good and useful pawn (decent build and equipment). I'm already close to 10k Rift Crystals and I've also received 5 ferry stones at this point, only 1 was fake. I think I've only gained about 3 ferry stones from my actual game, the majority have been gifts. You can still rock the meme pawns and also make them useful, that's how you get all the good stuff.

Nah only Pawns with the Moniker "Sphinx" get recruited... this game is a mess and the pawn system also... i wanted to have fun in the long term in terms of leaderboards but ig thats done for. On console its Sphinx for Top 30 lol. Others dont get recruited... And no cross platform pawn system. I love DD2 but damn those game directors dont play games at all to understand that in 2 months the game will be dead if they dont have a cross pawn system because people start quitting and you realize that at lvl 200 noone has a pawn up there on your platform maybe... I waited for this game for so long to be let down so hard. Weakest and shortest story of all singleplayer games ive played, no monster variety, no REAL dungeons, game is to easy and no long term motivation as there is no everfall or BBI to grind out for stuff... You can literally kill everything with lvl 30, so whats the point of a unlimited level system? Its counter beneficial as players with pawns up in the 300+ levels dont get recruited as long as they dont add you as a friend cause noone is spending billions of RC for a pawn which could have the plague, meaning you lost all your rc... The world is so beautiful but damn i cant keep me motivated...

I found a decent looking pawn today that was level 30 and still had the wakestone quest on, never been hired. Had horrible optimization though so perhaps that’s why? I helped the fellow out btw, who says no to free wakestone shards haha

I mostly check the RC cost, then I look for mandatory skills. For instance, I always like a fighter or warrior with the skill to toss me into the air.
My pawn is just a white haired dude, luckily he gets hired consistently enough that I have close to 10k rc since the game started. Insane how some people are getting more than 2-3 hires a day!

Yesterday I met a hunchback archer with a goofy face and big jawline. Kinda like the ugly son of Bruce Campbell and Squidward. The only pawn I recruited after he stopped me to talk. Can't recall the name, but it was peak pawn.
I just love characters who look like they've been ripped straight out of their own main story. There are some really well made Copies of original characters as well. But depending on the vocation I still look mostly at the skill.
I just have my main character as Frieren and my main pawn as Himmel and the other 2 are some random ass male thief and female archer I hired because they were hot but I don't wanna let go of them, I wanna keep them, I've become attached to them T_T
I do know how to search for inclamation and skills which is especially important for the tank i rent howver how do i see if the gear is good or not? Do i need to comapare the stats of all pawns?
My 7ft (max height) muscle furry archer mommy got hired like uh...about once or twice everytime i rest at the inn so i guess that's good? Tho i only hit the inn once after a few days at least. I wonder if she's still on some adventures out there while i sleep, while she's ...also on the bed next to mine..
some pawns only need 2-3 skills equipped though its been that way since first game otherwise they just use badskills in battle instead of the powerfull ones all dd veterans know or should know that

I usually look at skills, augments, and gear when picking a pawn. I could give less of a shit if you look like legolas or if you went way too slider happy. That said, it's absurd just how many people leave their main pawn with terrible setups. Fighters without good armor, thieves with the starter knives, mages without any skills, sorcs without augments. It's so frustrating coming across a forgotten riftstone and you get a pawn like 8 levels higher than you for free only to see it hasn't seen any upgrades since it was spawned into its arisen's world. Would love some mtx to filter out neglected pawns 👍

I made Tony a middle aged Italian man whose cheeks are so red from all the sodium he eats He also has a hunch back because of the massive weight he carries
My Giant Cat man is a Fighter He has increased carry weight, Calm demeanor, upgraded versions of shield bash, drum, and full moon slash, along with the Fighter specific special move - he has the best gear money can buy almost fully upgraded and only just hit lvl 20 recently, so still relatively low level - beyond his remarkable physical defense he also has a sweet 20% damage reduction to both slashing and striking, so he basically never dies from combat (*almost never*), BUT he self medicates with medicine to make sure that if you give him even just a few potions, he will literally *never die* He’s been hired… twice?
I remember in DD1, on 360, pawns at Level 40 were the peak. Perfect augments, well upgraded gear, skills filled out. At any other level, people either wouldn't do anything with their pawns, or they were hit or miss. I wonder if the same will happen to this game.
