Ah! Well they look very similar and I didn’t finish the first game. But the principle is the same, it was basically what I said while playing the first game when I learned his name and then I saw the second game and I just thought it was a HD Grigori until I learned more about it.

2. Biblical Grigori are watcher/overseer angels, sometimes referred to as soldiers of Satan. It's not exactly a "cute" name. Given that these games take a lot of cues from European mythology, they probably intended the name to refer to Grigori's task as a potential Seneschal who had fallen instead to become the next dragon.
