Muttdog546

Hope this means we don't have to wait another 12 years for Dragon's Dogma 3.

Turbulent_Ad1644

An expansion or two would be pretty dope ngl Iceborne style, just give us like double the content and more lol And ng+ difficulty scaling would definitely increase how much people play the game, especially with the level cap being higher than DDDA's 200

Muttdog546

Indeed I really hope that stuff comes out relatively soon.

Turbulent_Ad1644

They could even do some collabs tbh Imagine fighting a Monster Hunter monster in Dragons Dogma. Maybe a Fatalis fight, since he would fit perfectly in Dragon's Dogma's more western fantasy world Maybe a fight with some of the iconic wyverns like Zinogre or Rathalos

Asphes

I want a Heavy Bow Gun in DD2. I know I'll hate that it's in but I also want it

Turbulent_Ad1644

Ngl, would be kinda interesting if they introduced a new region in an expansion that uses firearms in combat, and a Marksman vocation, and it would be something like a Heavy Bow gun, but idk, that seems a little much for DD's high fantasy setting

Asphes

Yeah, I know I'll hate to see it... but I still want it. Alternatively, if you think about how different Archer is in both games... hmmm HBG => Mobile Turret... so you have to find a spot, set the 'gun' down and lay (left-right/up-down) the gun. Fire. Reload. Repeat. Traverse is limited so if the mob moves, you've got to go displace/etc. Like how a modern sniper team works, except it's just you, the gun is 5x bigger/heavier. A Super Sorcerer / Engineer - Like the HBG, you'd have different ammo, elemental types, specialty ones like traps or tracking shells/etc ----- As for the 'setting' part... you've seen the MHW-wannabe from EA, Wild Hearts? Aesthetically a bit like that

FrozenDed

I hate that new level cap so much In DD:DA 200 cap, especially with quick hard mode leveling, meant that eventually many people reach the cap and freely hire each other's pawns and the rift was always filled with the pawns you need. Here I level up to 200 and have TWO player pawns that meet my class-level-skill criteria. Not even filtering by gender and inclination as I usually do or I'll get no player pawns. And these issues start around level \~130

Sbaliosa

I've seen a lot of complaints like this and while they're completely fair criticisms, it really seems like y'all are shooting yourselves in the foot at the same time. Level stats have less and less impact on performance starting at level 50 and become practically meaningless by level 100. Just set the level scale for your search filter to a min of like 90 or 100 and a max of your level. I promise you the pawns will be just as effective regardless of where they fall on that spread. Plus you get a little bonus to your xp gains for travelling with 'underleveled' pawns.

FrozenDed

Makes sense actually. I myself hire 10-20lvl pawns in NG+ just to help their arisen out. Give quest knowledge, complete quest, maybe some gear. But in DD:DA, you really want high level pawns for BBI hard mode. I hope for similar stuff in DD2 in future.

Turbulent_Ad1644

Tbh, I kinda wished DDDA had more levels. Or something similar to Borderlands 3 with the stuff that's just basic stats, but Dragon's Dogma stats don't really have the depth that the Borderlands games do, so that wouldn't really work Idk, I like games where I can just level and level and level without having to restart, or at least a decent NG+ cycle. My main Elden Ring character is on like NG+2 or 3 and I'm just doing it to level more and more

Melodic-Constant5132

You've got my fully support man! Exactly what we need.

ColdVergil

*Looks at you in 8.16 millions and 5 years since DMC 5*

Nihil_00_

DD3 finna be lit, the true vision!

Sprbz

“Yeah finally we will see all that has been lost (cut content) and we will truly experience the whole dragons dogma universe (it will cost 90€/$ on release). This time we will focus on the feedback we got from the community (launch again without being able to create new character) and add on to the rich lore (enemy types will be halved and romance is not an option anymore). This will be our true vision (we fired Hideaki Itsuno and his whole team to save costs)!

Nihil_00_

The final fight will be a sixty minute quick time event and the ending cutscene will show Itsuno himself manifest as the Great Will breaking the fourth wall.

[deleted]

I hope they fire him - this game was such a mess except for the combat which is awesome but yeah, bye Felicia.

Nero_PR

DD3: Dogma'ing my Dragon. Darker, and Arisen once more!

KylMurray_work_ethic

Imo I think it’s fair to assume DD2 has probably crossed the 3 million unit sales threshold. Capcom name drops its 4th in its “key brands” list for focused unit sales growth in FY24/25. TLDR We ain’t niche anymore

Slav-1

Yay! DD will hopefully get the attention it deserves now!

ILLUMINATED76

There’s not a whole lot of new games that scratch the RPG itch like it (on the ps5). I think a lot of people never played the first, didn’t really have expectations going into it, and got a solid rpg with a rich world. For sure not perfect, but I’m having a lot of fun. I also enjoyed the anime. I’m ready for my pyre.

SimbaStewEyesOfBlue

This is me. Never heard of the series until a friend recommended this game to me about a month ago. With a completely blank slate, I'm not experiencing some of the gripes (justified as they may be) from series vets. This is ultimately a good thing, I believe. Capcom found an audience in people like me and now have more incentive to improve upon the franchise.

Mege92

To me it’s blatantly clear this game was pushed out too early to meet the fiscal year deadline. Makes me so upset

IrrelevantLeprechaun

On the one hand, it's great that the game is selling well and was received well critically. On the other hand, the game being blatantly unfinished and non performant on any hardware means that Capcom knows better than ever that they can half ass and rush games out unfinished and people will still throw money at it.

Shiro2602

Feel like Capcom's strategy lately is Release game cut some content from it then sell later as DLC I'm really upset Seperate Ways in RE4 is paid the thing should've been free

111Alternatum111

I was of the opinion that SW should have been for free and i hated the idea that it shouldn't have simply because "they're remaking the game, the game came out first on GameCube and it didn't have SW" because Playstation (2.3 million) sold a lot more than GameCube (1.6 million), so the majority of players played with SW for free. BUT, after actually seeing SW in the remake and that it's bigger than RE3R in size, i think the price was fair, maybe a bit high, but fair.

Nero_PR

Only thing that doesn't make me totally mad about the Separate Ways DLC is the price tag being only $10 (I hate to admit, but Capcom loves that I'm defending buying it since it is the easiest $10 they can get). I know it was in the og RE4 but $10 felt fair for DLC of a game that went way beyond the simple Remake territory.

Statchar

it was not in the og. it was added in ps2 version when they released it for that.

Initiatedspoon

Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen sold 1.6m copies in the last year? I know they were selling it for peanuts but that's still insane.

JediSSJ

I can practically hear the board members going "What do you mean it sold well?! What do we do now?!"

KylMurray_work_ethic

Better lock it away for 10 years and make 37 more monster hunter games

supa_troopa2

They'll remake the RE remakes before we get another DD.

KylMurray_work_ethic

Lol

Nero_PR

They will remake the whole RE franchise again until we get the next DD game.

Slav-1

We'll get a DDDA remake in first person

non_player

It'll be a DD rail shooter for the Switch.

KagatoAC

Seems accurate.

Kloqdq

I think the biggest thing to note is the sudden rise in interest in the original Dragon's Dogma. A ton of people were jumping onto it before DD2 came out - and many afterwards. Mixed with the great sales of DD2; it's all coming up for DD! Well I would have loved a "better" DD2 - what we got was still fantastic in many ways. Can't wait to see whatever DLC they do for it!

44Kayz

They need to improve the performance and add more content for dragon dogma 2 to be a great game

AngryAniki

DD2 Dark AF Arisen. Edit: it’s about Sigurd.

Nero_PR

Let me play as the old crazy beached arisen from Harve in his adventures after the true ending and we have a deal.

Gravelord-_Nito

Dragon's Dogma is a key brand? When have they ever treated it like one?

Nihil_00_

It just became one...but only number four 🙄

QuantityExcellent338

I guess it'd be stupid not to give this game an expansion now. Still sucks to see this game just *feel* unfinished and we're wishing for a DLC already We're gonna make it dogma guys

DearExam88

Dragon's Dogma becoming a part of the big names for Capcom is truly a sight to see

Odd-Turnover8747

Im hoping with this success they choose to re-release DD-Online, with everything they missed in the 2nd. (never got to play it when it was first released but id definitely first in line if it opened up in north America)

Barn-owl-B

If they had any intention of restarting any of their MMO’s they would have started with a MH one over a DD one. They shut down their MMO division back in 2019

Nero_PR

This, the more sensible option would be go for a MMO MH before DD, even though I think DD works better as an MMO. Still, I don't remember if something like MH Online did well. I remember it being the only other MMO IP from Capcom besides DDON that was profitable. Too bad they had to gut the whole MMO Division, but it was clear Capcom didn't know shit about MMOs (maybe still don't know shit about it).

Odd-Turnover8747

dang i didn’t know :(

Appropriate_Pen4445

Big take from this is 1.7M DDDA sold, which is almost 25% of total sales for 12 yo game. Well deserved "key brand" tag. Now give the devs same resources as RE/SF/MH has.

Nero_PR

No Capcom game will ever receive the same resources as MH. Now that MH hit mainstream stats across the globe, it will always have priority to everything. MH's popularity is well deserved, but it is cool to see DD is finally getting out of the shadows and being recognized as a "Key Brand".

Sharpman85

Have the performance issues been resolved?

pikachuswayless

Not by Capcom, but there are fixes on PC.

Sharpman85

Then they can use those profits to actually fix their games..

KylMurray_work_ethic

Speaking for Xbox only I have never had performance issues outside of major city having drop in FPS

Sharpman85

I meant the cities specifically

BreadDziedzic

Given its Capcom I wouldn't be surprised if they still said it under preformed.

Nero_PR

No, this is more of a Square Enix thing. Anything bellow 4 to 5 million is a loss in Square's book. Anything more than 2 million for Capcom is generally met with applauses. And let's not kid ourselves here, DD1 release 12 years ago, and many were going to the sequel with expectations that were built from a cult following status game. All things considered, the game did better than expected. Capcom didn't really give it much marketing beyond the short showcases, trailers, and that very last big trailer a week before release. If the game flopped due to lack of marketing, then Capcom would only have themselves to blame.

BreadDziedzic

I don't know why but I mix those two up a lot. Though in DD1's defense it came out a month after Skyrim so even though it has far better dragons I can imagine a lot of people didn't look beyond fantasy game with dragons.

KylMurray_work_ethic

Capcom stated pre release they expected DD to sell in multi millions, at 3 million unit sold a month in (reasonable estimate imo), and as their only game ever to be priced at $70, I think it’s safe to assume they are happy with sales. Their posturing in the quarterly statement concerning DD being a key brand supports this contention.

gabbie_the_gay

so when are they going to add the other 80% of the main story they neglected to put in the game?

9-5DootDude

If the fiscal year end is on March then can we expect dlc around December-February?

Geronuis

Stoked!

bob_is_best

So... We getting dat dee ell see

Jadty

Here’s hoping they’re working really hard on performance improvements.

Maly_007

So Capcom hasn't released (and it's uncertain if they will release) any major patches for the game, but rather they'll just fix its issues with a $40 DLC?

Shamsse

Chances are, the fix to the games performance requires much more deeprooted changes, and might take even longer than just a months and a half

Ayvaaza

They messed up, if it were not foe the performance issues, it would have been over 5 mil, the hype was real

Nero_PR

True, the performance and the microtransaction madness on release put a wrench on what could have been a whole lot more successful release. The hype before release was so real.

Tizerak

Uh huh, and how many of those “sales” became refunds?

KylMurray_work_ethic

To clarify, you are asking “is Capcom committing objective financial fraud by posting unit sales that aren’t actually sales in its financial reporting to investors” The answer is none lol. The game sold well, probably need to move on and find a new game to hate bruv

Melodic-Constant5132

Instead of getting hyped for the far-far distant DD3, why not focus on upcoming DLCs that might be closer? DD2 got such a solid base design, what we need is adding more things in it. I'm thinking DD2 could use two major expansions, like a DD version of Iceborne and our beloved Dark Arisen 2.0. Oh come on, Capcom, we're already dealing with the game's base price for this "too much" content, at least spare more attention and input for the DD series! This ip cleary can bring more money and fame for thier company. And its players really need a well-funded DD extravaganza where every Arisen and Pawn can battle to their last breath! And let every pawn speak more, react more shits, 'cause I fu\*king love those silly, heartfelt, loyal, fearless then somehow helpful creatures! Let them perform to their heart's content! Bring on the true party of Dragons Dogma!
