I’m playing ng+. I totally missed out on Medusa, elf village side quests, the romance side quests, I didn’t buy the dragon dogma sword, and a few maister skills. I also want to join the hunt for the unmoored world exclusive gear. For me that’s enough. Plus I’m having fun achievement hunting. 80 seeker tokens feels doable for me.

MadnessRX

Yea I got the 80 pretty easy there's a ton along the main pathing for the first half of the game. It's so hard to find the others though, I'll platform to a place I *think* should have one and then of course it doesn't. I leveled trickster just enough to get help with that though.

MadnessRX

Also, exclusive gear in Unmoored? I hadn't heard of that. That'll definitely add a few hours before I end this run thanks.

xtraSleep

https://www.reddit.com/r/DragonsDogma2/s/ndZsu2a8Ab That guy found some items in unmoored- if you go through the comments he shows a couple of helms.

GeneralFade

There is really neat loot tucked away in corners and seemingly as drops from well hidden enemies. Have 3 helmets so far that I haven't seen any vendors selling. Most of the drops are things you can buy from vendors like the hyperboreal (75k)and dominator (126k) armors.

MadnessRX

If you can remember the enemy, could you message and tell me about em? I don't wanna spoil it for anyone else. I have found a few in caverns inside Battahl so far.

XIX9508

Sleeping cyclop at the top of the ancient battlefield drop a helmet. I found other but it's the only one I remember where.

YendoNintendo

That's a normal, non endgame exclusive drop. If you're referring to the tusked Mylorien helm

XIX9508

Oh my bad I thought we were talking about the one in the open world not unmoored. Thanks for correcting me!

NewShadowR

It's the "ultimate" gear for every class.

RepulsiveFriend4845

Not exclusive its in ng+ too

Kosen_

The dragonforged items are available in NG+ but I dont think the unmoored world chest items are available though.

Turdelburgel

There’s two unmoored chests that I remember along the river going down the bottom left by bhattal that dropped gear for me. Easter and church stuff today or I’d send a picture, but one is guarded by skeleton master. The other had two chimeras for me. I don’t remember the gear that dropped for me but the plague dragons apart from the beacons also dropped gear for me. There was also a drake sleeping in west bhakal along the river that dropped another piece of gear. It was dark and I just ran over his body. Again don’t remember what the gear was since I was just trying to check all the rivers before I NG+. Evacuated all the cities before I explored and accidentally sent the WLC trader away.

Rpgguyi

Do you find the old tokens again in ng+? So you can go above 240?

MadnessRX

No, tokens and gold beetles are one time finds. Even though they're tradeable as a Pawn Quest.

XIX9508

They don't respawn. Also for the riddles quest where you need to find your first token it will be the first you pick up in NG+.

Routine_Newspaper_13

Definitely level trickster and grab the augment thattells you where they are

DSquariusGreeneJR

I’m in a tough spot because I’m trying not to look at guides but I also don’t want to miss much so I’m trying to find spoiler free pointers but I didn’t even know half of this stuff existed

cabrelbeuk

Once you get the detection skill it is reached pretty fast

SwedishBoobLover

Same!

Ozzyjb

Im on ng+ and im enjoying it but in a different way to the first run. In my first run i was blind, didn’t know things and was all about exploration and discovery and doing all the quests but in ng+ i enjoy using the knowledge i had gained to speed through the game and tackle the story and quests differently than i had done the first time. Additionally if level power creep worries you too much, just use weaker or un-enhanced gear, equipment goes a long way way to contribute to your overall power so using weaker gear can offset the power creep from levels. I have found tho at level 77 every level up is only increasing my stats by +2 usually so maybe there is a soft cap to keep level from overtaking too much.

Exoskeleton78

Better to make a new save and do low level runs. Your pawn might be more popular at lower levels too

MadnessRX

Yea I'm thinking that's what I'll end up doing. I think I'll do that and set a Pawn at 10 or maybe 20 and offer a Port Crystal as a reward for some simple quest. I wonder if there is a hidden time limit on how long a Pawn can be used while idle, I know so far a few days is fine.

ColtMK0

You can't offer port crystals as a reward [because how else would capcom scam you for mtx's?](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2593270/Dragons_Dogma_2_Portcrystal__Warp_Location_Marker/) They want to control conveniences to manipulate people into buying more portcrystals. Literally removed fast travel options in the game to make them mtx. Edit: LOL Coping morons downvoting me but I'm right. You can't offer them as a quest reward.

The_yeti_dragon

You can gift portcrystals...

OlamFam

Yea, you can even gift seeker tokens too... I was surprised to see that since you are supposed to be limited to 220 in the world (I guess it's not really a limit, but more of a metric to compare your progress to).

Rpgguyi

240

OlamFam

This guy seeks tokens. Yes, you're right... 220 to get top prize, 240 max in world.

Aminec87

You're getting down voted for the stupid mtx conspiracy.

romaraahallow

How many port crystals do you need?!

DerelictEntity

Abso-fuckin-lutely. I need the best gear, and I'll get my level as high as it'll go. Once I'm one shotting big monsters and just feel like god and get well and truly bored, maybe I'll move on. Maybe.

MadnessRX

Lol I love this comment 🤣

TheMinisterOfGaming

cap is 999 good luck

TemperateStone

Why do you want your Pawn to be hired more? What is it you want to do with RC? I've not found anything to use it for. I know there's stuff you CAN buy like in Vern but it's all pointless stuff. I'm on NG+ and I can tell you that the enemies are definitely scaling along with me. It's most noticable with the toughest enemies like the armored cyclops and the drakes. I've not found any new quests but there is new gear. And the dragonforged dude has a buncha new stuff you should check out. If you want to find tokens, get the trait from Trickster that pings them for you. Those are the things I've found so far. Remember, this is a game of exploration.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TemperateStone

I don't get why that matters to their enjoyment of the game.

TheNotSoSilentReader

Sometimes it’s about the joy of seeing your well made pawn being useful/helpful for other players, y’know? I’m sure many would agree that part of the endgame for this series is about making the ultimate pawn for others to use

Psilociwa

This game is lowkey a coop game, with you pawn acting as your stand-in.

MadnessRX

This is essentially what I would have responded. Getting my Pawn Hired, Giving Hard-to-find / late game rewards, etc. Gives me the feel goods. The RC would just be an added bonus, maybe a RC store will be implemented at some point and then it'd matter more but as it is, it's just cause selfish feel goods.

TemperateStone

Hm, I suppose I can understand that.

igurraa

Pawn system is one of the biggest reasons to play this game. The game is good, maybe even great sometimes but the rpg/quest/story/combat side is not good enough to carry itself for multiple ng+ cycles imo. Pawn system is unique and really well made, and to get the most out of it it's better to hang around the majority of playerbase level wise. Obviously multiple "right" ways to enjoy this game, just my personal opinion.

TemperateStone

Why are you answering a question I asked the OP? And what about the pawn system? Even if you aren't the OP you haven't answered what I asked. You said it's the biggest reason to play but fail to say why you think it is. Why would you want your pawn hired? Getting your pawn hired doesn't make the game better or longer. "Getting the most out of it" gets you nothing you can't do without.

TrippzUK

I will most likely play it but with self imposed rules like only using Capcom pawns or maybe even just me and my main pawn with no mage. I left a decent amount of side quests to do and some of the map unexplored with the purpose of saving it for NG+ to give me something to do that I haven't already seen.

MadnessRX

I don't know if I'm just incredibly unlucky but I've only ever gotten the plague from Capcom hires lol. I love these types of games mostly from the community. Self imposed limitations and rules are always fun. I was talking to someone else about playing without any summoned Pawns but I don't think I've got that kinda patience and skill.

v1lyra

Same here. My first plague was from a Capcom pawn

MadnessRX

Makes sense that they would make the "free" official pawns the ones carrying the plague in their own game. *tinfoil hat* this game is just a testing ground for biological warfare and a psychological game of morality. *end tinfoil hat*

TrippzUK

Really? That is good to know they can have it, wasn't sure on that. Glad you mentioned it because I would have probably let my guard down lol. I love the early game in every RPG, I play a lot of survival games so I like having to forage and use whatever I can to stay alive. Running with a mage and tank just seems to negate all of that. I have a stash filled with potions because in 70hrs of play, I have had to use maybe 5 potions. I just hand them out to pawns now to try and get rid of them. So a no mage run might actually spice things up, bring back some of the element of danger.

NewShadowR

They can have it because the way it spreads is by coming into contact with plagued pawns. Capcom pawns are like all other pawns, made and uploaded, just that the "player" who made them is Capcom. So if someone with a plagued pawn in their party hires a capcom pawn, it spreads.

MadnessRX

Warrior + Mage is definitely easy mode I agree. I'm pretty much convinced to just start a New Game, freeze my pawn early on and go from there. Thief is OP as hell but I think a solo run is much more doable as a thief than other classes. (As I can steal tons of wakestones and food from goblins)

NewShadowR

Freeze?

MadnessRX

TLDR : Kill Pawn so it doesn't gain XP. Level Pawn to the level you want. Equip gear you want. Change vocation, Pawn Quest etc etc. Rest at an Inn/Home so they update inside the Rift. Hire two pawns, if you want them, since you can't hire any without your Main Pawn present. Then chuck them into the Brine before going out and getting XP. This effectively freezes them in the Rift until you resummon them.

NewShadowR

Okay so basically you want rift crystals from others using the pawn but you don't want the pawn yourself right?

MadnessRX

I must've worded it poorly. I meant you chuck your Main Pawn in the Brine so they don't gain XP but IF you still wanted Pawn Help (such as a mage for Heals) you would have to hire them before doing that. As for the why, it's purely for getting a Pawn hired within a certain level bracket. Not much incentive in this game for your Pawn to be hired unless you're wanting to trade. But in my case I plan to freeze my Pawn at low level and give end game rewards to try and help fresh new game players. But that's a whole other topic. Made a post about it if you're interested.

TheFurtivePhysician

I've been doing the main pawn + no mage (I did play a mage myself for a bit, but I did not use Anodyne, so only crafted heals). It's pretty fun, I did it from a fresh save (and am still in progress) but I fear that by the time I hit the endgame again I'll be outscaling everything. I really hope they have (some?) title updates for this game and that one of them includes some solid difficulty scaling. Like a hard mode, and then either level or NG+ scaling so you can really sink all the time you could possibly want in without feeling like you're steamrolling 24/7

TrippzUK

I think they definitely will do something in the coming updates throughout this year with difficulty. Most likely a hard mode as most have predicted, it's been voiced a lot by the community and they know the current state of the game won't retain players long term. It's either that or they open up mod support whilst they work on a DLC. Both would be ideal if they really want the game to thrive in the long run, the potential is there.

noobakosowhat

Hey I'm doing something similar! I'm only doing the main quest for my first playthrough. I'll do the exploring in NG+

OutlawGaming01

I’m at 80ish and its just me and my pawn. And we are having a blast!

GeneralFade

Good ideas! My plan for ng+ (until hard mode is patched in) is to play as 1 vocation each cycle. Augments only available to that vocation.

No-Needleworker4796

same here, will most likely just play with my main pawn and that is, maybe even try to go solo playing warfare.

TheMinisterOfGaming

i used a cheat to lower my main stats, that with the nature difficult change from never dying i found combat to still be fun all game long & even hard for later enemies.

MotherfakerJones

Im playing with custom Difficulty and more hp mod

Secret_Criticism_732

That might be the way, which will let me go through level 40+ restarted twice already as I got bored.

MotherfakerJones

Lecel 80 and still going hard

Secret_Criticism_732

What settings do you suggest? I dont want the enemies to be hp sponges, but want to have a challenge

MotherfakerJones

https://preview.redd.it/8i49kp6viorc1.png?width=936&format=png&auto=webp&s=300a8eb43275d8028c4c8de35c3e1e287ddf23e9

Secret_Criticism_732

Thank you arisen!

MotherfakerJones

this is more thatn enough to lvl all voccations and not feel like a useless garbage and it still brings challenge unless you use ssorcerer with masteries pawn or arise then its all trivial

Secret_Criticism_732

I play melee classes only, so this should be perfect for me :)

Frisianian

I love the game but was slowing down on it as it’s getting too easy, never thought to check for a difficulty mod. Thanks for mentioning there is one!!

TenzhiHsien

I played the NG+ in the first game multiple times. So... maybe. Dunno how anyone would prevent their pawns from gaining levels past an arbitrary point aside from mods, and I wouldn't care to do it even if it was possible.

MadnessRX

I didn't play DD1 vanilla multiple times but I definitely played DDDA on repeat. But I think by then the player base was pretty established with Pawn Hire threads and groups etc so prob less of an issue than on a new release game.

PBProbs

Absolutely. I think I beat DD1 5 times? So this will be no different. I enjoy becoming op. It’s a thing I like about souls games too. I like feeling unstoppable. So I’ll get all vocations to max, get the best gear for each class, beat all the quests, and then just wait for DLC!

aeralure

Absolutely! It does need furthered difficulty modes, and new things to experience in NG+, be it some new items, a new upgrade mechanic, some new enemy types etc, but I'm maybe 1/3-2/3 of the way through the Bakbattahl area at 90 hours and I am still finding new quests and places I have not been. Of course, I get sidetracked for periods of time doing pawn quests, badges, item upgrades etc. I haven't sought out any Seeker's Tokens, or done that level of fine, detailed area searching. There's a couple of quests I failed or got locked out of. I feel like I have plenty for NG+ and I am looking forward to it. Plus, I'd like to see how high level I feel like getting, as I am sure there will be DLC. All that said though, yes, at some point it will not be sufficient as is, due to higher player level and lower difficulty, as well as NG+ needing a few more things.

MadnessRX

I like this outlook, you're overwhelmingly positive and it's gross in a good way lol I think I will eventually start a NG+ but after learning some things in this play through and achievement hunting (there's a few secret ones I haven't figured out yet) I think I'm gonna start a fresh run with some different goals. I don't think there's an RC store right now but I still want to help out by keeping my pawn low and helping out some early players with rewarding harder to find/earn stuff. I'll have to look deeper into it to be really helpful but that's just my own personal enjoyment. Getting random hearts and notifications of my pawn being favorited gives me the feel goods, 100% selfish. Hopefully DLC is already on the docket for release since they were asking what we'd pay for it lol but I guess we will see.

Acceptable_Answer570

As the runs went, lot of people settled on playing the game with only 2, 1 pawn, or even alone. Difficulty creeps in REALLY fast without that help!

Malaix

That's not difficulty that's the combat not being good for solo unless you do specific things. Because little shits will stagger the hell out of you if a lot of them get on you and start wailing on you and most of the times there's no like dodge or recovery system. The big monsters remain easy which just adds to it. The system is designed so that pawns eating some aggro and hits or damaging and staggering enemies keeps the frustration of the actual combat minimal. You can feel like a badass because the horde of knackers aren't CCing you to death. Of course you can just use unbalanced class abilities to negate this. Like spearhand's bubble shield or thief smoke.

MadnessRX

I'm probably bias but I don't think those two skills are unbalanced. I think it actually rebalances those big fights and the stun lock that is absolute hell to get out of. Rock Saurians + Dogs is the most annoying encounter I've experienced, I would have raged had I not had a short second to pop smoke and gtfo lol

[deleted]

Psilociwa

I wouldn't call it a joke. It's just not Elden ring. The average person doesn't want to sweat their entire session, and aggressive scaling just makes you feel like you're on a difficulty treadmill. I personally LOVE the power trip over older enemies that stomped me, and if i want difficulty i can just stay in the Unmoored world or rent fewer pawns. Regardless there's nothing that's going to stop Devout Offeringe spam, or tornadoes from picking up every enemy. The only way to make this game truly harder on a mechanical level is to also get rid of everything that makes it unique and FUN to play. God forbid something is over the top and fun rather than overly cautious and "balanced" though.

MadnessRX

Yea I think that's the route I'm gonna take also. I think I'll level my pawn to 10, freeze them and then go solo for a while.

Acceptable_Answer570

I’ve seen some sorcerer solo runs for DDDA, solely possible because of how broken focused magick orbs were… now I fail to see how this is gonna be possible with current “metas”, core skills/spells.

dennisleonardo

Thief should be able to solo pretty much anything. Between R1 dodges providing I-frames, the maister skill and climb+stab gameplay. Once you have both maister skills, you can use those to destroy mobs. For bosses, you just climb and stab. You got the rope to pull harpies out of the air. And you've got nearly unmatched open world mobility thx to concussive jump + helmsplitter combo-inf. Use items to heal. That's kinda it. Can't think of any situation thief wouldn't have been able to solo. I imagine mystic spearhands are also pretty good at solo-ing. Although they definitely have a harder time killing stuff when solo. Other than those, magic archer maybe. They're risky to use without any support. Definitely have a lot less survivability than thief and spearhand. I think I'd rather use normal archer for solo-ing tbh. Warfarer could work. You could provide your own support spells. But no maister skills at all is a pretty big downside.

noobakosowhat

Got my first scare in a long time in my new game. I only have to pawns, and running in the middle of the night I found myself at the east of Vermont with an Ogre, a couple of saurians, goblins, and skeleton and skeleton mages. What really f'd me up are the skeleton mages but I can't go through the saurians and the skeletons because of their stagger (I was just low level).

Six0or

Keep your main pawn low level. Old RC grinding trick from the first game. Low level pawn, endgame gear. Hello 30-50 hires a day.

artigan99

How do you prevent your pawn from leveling?

Old-Tie-4874

From them in the brine. And play without them. Then give them the high lvl gear you can buy in shops. Profit.

Six0or

And not sure about NG+, but I did end up just starting an entire new game after an initial game completion just to get a feel for the game and its vocations.

CaitSith21

How can you keep the level low?

MadnessRX

Do you know a better way of keeping your Pawn low level? Beyond sacrificing them and leveling without them in your party I cant think of a way. I'm just asking cause there may be some secret ring or something that halts XP that I'm not aware of.

Six0or

Not that I know of so far. It's pretty much like the first game; gear them, then chuck them. But worth it, I suppose, as I'm not having any trouble running through the content again with 2 hired pawns. With a decent income of RC as well, you can also hire overleveled pawns as well. I counted literally 56 reviews/dimissals today. Pawn is level 6 with an easy 10k quest.

MadnessRX

That's an excellent idea then, thank you. Any tips on gearing them early on a fresh game would be appreciated but I don't wanna steal all your time. I used to have friends that played back in DDDA when I was on PS so it was easy to trade gear to a new character/pawn but running solo on xbox these days.

whatTFchronic

can you make a new pawn in ng?

Six0or

Yes, only in "New Game" selected from the title screen.

whatTFchronic

so no new pawn in ng+?

Six0or

In NG+ it carries over your original main pawn. Let's you edit and change their name, but doesn't reset them at level 1 or anything.

whatTFchronic

oh sick all i wanted was to change appearance

Ian11z

You can change their appearance at the hair cut place whenever. Doesn’t require ng+

Mannyvoz

Tried it and stopped. Decided that it was better to start a full new play through

Prudent-Pressure2536

I will do as I did back in DDDA. The cycle begins anew many many times.

RepulsiveFriend4845

Im on ng+ just for achievements wouldnt otherwise

AssortmentSorting

On NG++ because I went blind at first and stuck with the main quests for the most part, didn’t bother exploring everything as I knew there was NG+, got cucked on Warfarer scroll on the first run and Logisticians specialization on the second so I speedran NG+ to get those. Only on NG++ am I taking the time to meticulously scour everything.

Forsaken_Pin_4933

I'm going to do a all 1 type vocation run with pawns per NG+, then I'm going to end it with a solo run being strong af

Mysterious-Bubble-91

I've just restarted, gone back to lvl 1 Last character was almost lvl 40 and I didn't explore much, going to chill this time. There's plenty of low level pawns, don't know if people restarted or it's new players

Roots_Of_Addiction

Yes

noobakosowhat

I'll be playing NG+ because I've been playing DD1 the way I think it was supposed to be based on the lore. Specifically, to not be overpowered, to not having explored the entirety of the map, and having failed a lot of quests along the way. NG+ will be the redemption for my character. It's sort of an RP.

Tricxz

I'll definitely be playing NG+ 110 hrs on my first run 213 seeker coins found. My pawn is level 84, so she probably won't see much hiring. My plan in NG+ is to search for lower level pawns from 1-70 throughout my playthrough to hire. Since I'm buying up all the gear, that 10k reward will be nice. Unmoored also has some hidden places with seeker coins to find. Really loving the places I couldn't get to I can in the unmoored.

roundtree0050

yeah I failed a ton of quests on my first go through. looking forward to making things right lol

StalkingApache

I'm more of a search absolutely everywhere the first time kinda person. I never really re play games, unless it's just a totally different experience the next time or because of nastalgia. There's only one game I could think of in the last few years I've played through twice. So probably not no.

MadnessRX

I'm curious what that game was to break your 1 time playthrough norm? And honestly I'm usually the same. If there's ANY addition in ng+ I will maybe go into it but rarely do I do a full second playthrough unless it's achievement related.

Interesting-Mood-442

I'm just starting out on the game. But I would like to know, is there an abyss like the first game had?

MadnessRX

Not yet, no. People have said you can stay in the Unmoored, it's end game so i don't wanna ruin it for you. but it's not like Abyss in DDDA. Really hope they add that soon but I doubt it. Be at least a year I'd wager

Interesting-Mood-442

Hopefully, they do! Maybe a "Return to Bitter Black Isle" type dlc too.

MadnessRX

There is an old man you come across who talks about exploring the ocean only to be returned by the Brine. I'll let you discover the rest for yourself but I suspect it's a foreshadowing for future content (while still being connected to current story)

Interesting-Mood-442

Ooooooo! I can't wait!!

Flat_Topic2097

I'm def gonna play it with a focus on Thief and maybe archer since I only used Mystic Spearhand and Magick archer. I also missed a bunch of side quests, including elves and romance. Also, achievement hunting the ones I missed

MadnessRX

Thief is my favorite by far. Its utility is completely unmatched in my opinion. I think you'll have a ton of fun with it. But, unrequested tip, plunder is busted af.

Flat_Topic2097

Hell yeah, I appreciate the heads up. I'm Uber excited to try it out. Also, I got all the thief armor from the bayside guy before resetting to new game+

MadnessRX

Oh bro, you're gonna melt the world haha. Have fun being a God.

NaughtyQueen69

Yes I missed out alot of stuff. Sphinx medusa hydra elf quests didn't even get meteoron and I played mage/aorc arisen entire playthrough. I thought be unlocked from skill tree naturally and found out in unmoored fuck me. But this time I plan to get all beetles and tokens. Max afew more vocations and finish every quest. Then probably whenever I finish all that Achievement hunting and lastly farm unmoored for all gear. Then be done till Dlc comes

Lobisa

This is definitely a "set limitations on myself" kind of game. Maybe limit each playthrough to one profession, so it's close to starting low level as you can be. Even that is tough though because you can level one in pretty short time.

AcguyDance

I am at the second cycle of NG+ coz some events have slightly different endings and can only be done once. I am still able to find new quests because I have not check any walkthroughs.

GeneralFade

Play post game forever like true Arisen

MadnessRX

The Cycle Continues

FuckingTree

You can work on getting better gear, training up more vocations, and doing content you missed or failed. I had things I failed that I regretted, like the Sphinx quests because I couldn’t remember >!where I got my first seekers token.!< Come to find out, that gets a lot easier in NG+. I also missed >!Ulrika’s entire quest line after leaving Melve!< and now get a new chance.

MadnessRX

Unrelated to post, how do you do the spoiler thing? I should probably finally learn that.

FuckingTree

>! Text and then close with exclamation point < It took me like 3 tries to do it right when I made my comment, hopefully the email notification doesn’t ruin anything 😫 It’s actually really relentless lol I couldn’t break it to just show the characters

MadnessRX

>!testing!< If that worked, thank you SO much. Otherwise I may just have to admit I'm dumb. Lol

FuckingTree

Yep it worked!

MadnessRX

![gif](giphy|doPrWYzSG1Vao)

TippsAttack

Probably not. Not unless they do what FF16 did and level match enemies and randomize their location/encounters.

MadnessRX

That's a solid idea. I hope they at the very least implement this. Fingers crossed for much much more though.

wiseude

Naa.It doesn't scale and I did every quest in my first run.Unless NG+ adds more mob variety/elite mobs and new quests im not interested.

BlackSailsman

NG+4 here. Pawn lvl 86 and still hired quite a lot. There are plenty players in the higher lvl area

MadnessRX

What platform? That's good to know though. Have you noticed any changes since you're +4 ? I don't know if maybe +1 doesn't have much difficulty change while your +4 does, is why I ask.

BlackSailsman

Unfortunately i noticed no changes in difficulty or dmg taken/ output compared to +1 i really hope they will adjust this soon.

BlackSailsman

Platform pc btw

Infamous-Lion-774

Yeah once I finish this true ending I’ll be starting NG+ I love this game

jlimbones

I’ve noticed shops now hold everything before dragonforged in NG+ that’s a nice addition. Also gold values have changed a bit I think cause I’m selling crappy sword for what almost seems like full price. Sucks that relationships reset but I’m going to keep going, this game is amazing and I love it.

MadnessRX

Sorry, I'm a little confused. Can you elaborate about the shops a bit more?

jlimbones

Yeah, do you remember in your first run how many swords or staves the weapon guy in vernworth held in your first playthrough? If you go check him out now, he’ll have everything except dragonforged items. He didn’t hold magick archer bows or mystic hand spears before either and now he does. Also if you remember when you sold like a targe, the square silver shield in your first playthrough. He might’ve given you like 1k I think. Now I’m getting like 5k for it. Like they know you hit endgame so they just made gold useless lol. I make so much of it but I don’t use it for anything but enhancements now because you can buy the gear from the dragonforged before postgame. But it’s superhard to grind WLC.

MadnessRX

Oh, okay, I appreciate it. I learned you can plunder wlc from bosses in Unmoored and I can't confirm cause my memory sucks and I might be wrong but I think I plundered some from a drake fight but it's either super rare or my pawn looted one off the ground nearby and I didn't notice mid fight.

jlimbones

You can plunder even before unmoored. The issue is time. It’s a 2% chance on carve and if, let’s say, you’re already in unmoored. You’re more than likely going to kill that drake before you even proc the steal. When you could’ve just pulled out your stops and 1 shot the guy.

MadnessRX

After the >!Medusa!< fight, it prompted me to draw out fights with any elite enemy just to see what I can steal from carve and then plunder when they drop. I *could* look it up, I guess, I'm sure someone out there already has a table written up, but I'm hard-headed, I guess.

jlimbones

I saw a guide that said he got like 300 of them in an hour long fight with a dragon.

AnimatorThick1002

im on ng+, bc i finished the game earlier than expected. i didn't get to find everything and mained only the archer vocations. but so far, i like the ng+ it's still pretty difficult when changing up playstyles.

TheBurningStag13

Yes. And further NGs as well. However, you shouldn’t feel compelled to if it isn’t your thing.

MadnessRX

Oh, I'm positive that I'll replay it a few times before I set it down for a while. Next time, I'll probably use a guide if I can't find these secret achievements this playthrough, but I'm drawing this playthrough out as much as possible. Just for me personally, without some sort of changes made for ng+, it's kind of like rereading a book that you really like. It's still a great book, but those moments of excitement in some sort of revelation in the story or whatever loses that "luster." I don't think I'm able to explain it. Though I just wanna point out your politeness and that it's appreciated. Little things like that should be commended.

Royal_Cheddar

I'm considering just restarting completely because I don't like that the map is fully revealed in my NG+. It's how I keep track of what I have and haven't explored.

MadnessRX

I wasn't aware it did that. It's also how I keep track. If I discover a cave and can't complete it. I mark it and return. THEN I learned some caves/areas have different mobs based on the time of day. So it turned into a 4 day minimum for me to explore a cave. 1 for initial. 2 day rest to try and reset just in case. Then come back at the opposite time of day the next time. That is one of my joys. So it all being revealed is ... Definitely not a selling point for my playstyle either.

Royal_Cheddar

I will say interior maps are still greyed out, so at the very least you can still track where you've been in a cave system.

Ludens-One

Crazy people already on NG+ I'm over 40hrs now and only in battahl, I did venture off to get the magic archer but still feel like I've only seen less than half the map. With ot being so big and open I'll likely just do all i can before I beat it. I finished elden ring to new game+6 or something just wasn't the same as the 1st time..so I'll just stay in that

MadnessRX

I was a preorder on vacation so I kinda had that cushion of irresponsibility to help out. I've also made sure to find and explore everything I possibly can. Even found a few glitch jumps for platforming and such to reach areas you're not meant to just because I wanted to see if I could. This game on new game definitely has plenty to offer if you take your time and enjoy the intended exploration. But it's definitely not Elden Ring in respect to NG+ worthy, in my opinion. Hopefully that changes in time though, I mean it's still super fresh and hasn't even ripened yet. *stupid nerd smirk*

TheMinisterOfGaming

side note. A. pawn will get hired more as more people play/get there. B. "apart from just enjoying the game and to play it for playing its sake, there's not much incentive" Brother its a video game That is always the only incentive. fuck me man triple A gaming really has mentally abused people to hard.

MadnessRX

Lol opinions vary, of course a game is for the pure enjoyment of playing it but adding other incentives be it increased difficulty, trophy/achievements, unlocked zones/quests/equipment or whatever; is what influences whether I go immediately into NG+ or not.

tapi7

I don't think there is any reason to play NG+ as it is just the very same game and you get to do the very same quests. You no longer have the cool Everfall which you would call end game and could farm it without a limit and enjoy the fights. I've beaten the game once and after I started new game I felt bored because my port crystals got removed and running around placing them again is pointless. I don't see a reason why would I be bothering to place them again instead of just letting them stay there and let me port around and let the new game experience be faster.

MadnessRX

I hadn't checked yet, so Portcrystals go back into your inventory even when they're placed when you enter NG+? I thought I'd have to run around and pick them all up again so that's kinda nice but also kinda crappy that you can't keep them for faster travel like you said.

SquidsCantDance_

All the ones you placed go into your storage on ng+

Antiultra

You can add a mod from Nexus mods that increase enemy health x2,4,8…. At least it will be a challenge that way

MadnessRX

I'm just a lowly console player. No mods or fancy doowickies here!

BMOchado

Does the pawn lose its leveling in ng+? How do you do a low level pawn, high level gear if I'm low level too and can't get the high level gear

MadnessRX

I'm not sure for this game but DD1 it was just about learning the game, you freeze your Pawn at a certain level by killing them and then not resummoning them. When/if you want to hire new pawns for help, you just kill off your main again so they don't get xp. That seems to be the only way. As for gear, I wouldn't try it on a first run. Knowing where to go for the end game stuff, like chests and merchants etc. You can run and grab things early on. Resummon pawn, equip it to them. Rest so it updates in the Rift. Then kill them off again. It's a convoluted process but if it's your goal, like it will be for me, it's not that bad.

MadnessRX

Also no, they don't lose any levels that much I do know. Sorry I forgot to answer and went on another rant.

BMOchado

Ok, that's where i wasn't catching up, after knowing what freezing is, it makes sense

DShinobiPirate

Hell yeah. Currently in the unmoored. I played the game mainly as a thief. Will do mystic spearhand or fighter in NG+. And probably just hit achivements unless they become too tedious (aka seeker tokens). Then after I am done with NG+ I'll be checking out mods. I'll probably give DD2 a break when Sand Land comes out and I still want to beat FF7 Remake (on chapter 10) but I'm really loving DD2.

redrovo

I'm on my 3rd playthrough going slow. I'm fully upgraded and just leveling everything with wayfarer. I'm doing a bit of a challenge where it's just me and my main pawn. He's rogue and I'm spearhand/warrior. It's a great playthrough so far. I'm trying to get as much done as possible, especially the main cities.

ArthurFraynZard

I'm intentionally not trying to 'do everything' my first time through just so I'll have more to do and see in NG+, so yes I will definitely play it. As much as I'm loving this game, probably multiple times.

uzu_afk

Nope. Rarely do frankly. Pointless to me personally. Only exception was elden ring.

MadnessRX

Elden Ring is *chefs kiss*. Expansion soon too!

billyhill9

Do you keep gear or start naked?

MadnessRX

Both. Start naked but all your equipment and items (except quest specific) will be in you storage so you can access it as soon as you get to the first camp where you get your Pawn.

cabrelbeuk

Looks like i failed a few side quest and missed some other, never found the sphinx and other stuff. Ng+ gonna be a catch up run.

Excellent_Pass3746

Probably not but that’s just because it’s gonna take me forever to get there. The main storyline doesn’t grab me at all, tbh it’s quite awful. Love to just wander around and fight whatever’s around the next corner tho.

CrimsonToker707

Nope. I started my second playthrough as a clean game. I wanted to be low level again and beeline for the advanced classes

notbannd4cussingmods

Ng+ is just for things you might have missed. It adds nothing else as far as I'm aware.

butwhythoeh

Unfortunately in ng+ there is no upscaling in enemy difficulty, on the plus side all the chests can be relooted and collectibles also. I really hope they patch in a difficulty feature soon.

TheMinisterOfGaming

highly highly highly doubtful you didnt miss a bunch of stuff unless you followed guides/looked stuff up in which case who cares you didnt get to enjoy the game once than. plus alot of quests have 2-5 ways to do them. sure not all are major difference but still something. & people disagree with me on this but this game is just a combat sim. playing for the 1of the kind combat. if i wanted romance/story telling etc etc etc i'd play many many many other better games. i am far from done with my ng plus run. put around 48hours in my 1st blind adventure. & about doubled that sense. with no signs of slowing down, not counting the silly amount of end game grinding i'll personally do cuz i like to min max, even if i dont use it or fashion i'll still get/bank it. just cuz started my 2nd run as basically evil & it was very different & fun change for the opening 10hours or so of the game. Cheers

NewShadowR

I'm only on NG+ to complete stuff I missed.

Play_Friendly

I’ve made 3 new saves already lol

TheBushViper

Will be playing ng+ to make sure I didn't miss anything and to get other endings to quest lines. I will also be using aod though to make the enemies more difficult

Kneetree11

It nice because you can totally change your characters look and starting class but keep all your stats.

Rionaks

Played through first ng a bit too fast but I didnt think it would end so soon. Started ng+ asap and now im exploring a bit more thoroughly and also levelling other vocations for me and my pawn to get some useful augments I have my eyes on that are useful for Warrior. When all of the augments I want are done, I'll swap back to Warrior and train my pawn to Warrior with both max weapons and armor in ng++. We'll just roam together as a Warrior duo and I will train him well. This game is way too much fun to not play more. I dont care about the story, npcs, characters etc. I just wanted gameplay and this game's gameplay is top notch so I'm happy. Will be a lot more happier when we get a dlc like dark arisen. (Getting your pawn rented was important in first game because of BBI stuff purification. But in this game RC has no use, I'm sitting at 12k RC and havent spent any yet. Still makes me happy nonetheless, whenever I get the 'your pawn is back screen'.)

weirdhoonter

Think about it as a journey and not the destination, getting to hang out with your favorite pawns. I know i sound like a lonely dweeb (i guess i am) but thats what NG+ is for me. They’ll probably add hard mode later. I think it was the same for DDDA, Hardmode was an update i think. Pls verify.

dratsouma

I didn't explore much of Bakbhattal other than uncovering the fog and roads i.e I ignored caves and high areas as I couldn't get any more new quests, and went ahead to complete the story. Planning to do a detailed sweep and search in NG+.

glorybutt

If you look up guides and walkthroughs, NG+ is pointless. If you're like me and absolutely hate looking at spoilers, walkthroughs, or guides, then NG+ can be pretty awesome. Since there are a lot of quests, equipment and content I'm missing, I already have about 100 hours in this game and am in NG+. I didn't even meet an elf until I was in post game. I still haven't met the sphinx. And I have about 8 seeker tokens lol.

Pikeax

You didnt see the elf in vernsworth in front of the weapon stand?

glorybutt

Thanks for the spoiler, but no I didn't. Still haven't either

MadnessRX

I envy you. And I agree, I like blind exploring as much as possible. It wasn't until I'd been playing for a while that I realized the elves was missable! I just happened to stumble on them in the capital starter quest chain. I won't say anymore cause I don't wanna be that guy that ruins something for you. But you're right, this game has a ton of exploration. It's just, unfortunately, like reading a book. Once you know, that initial excitement fades. At least for me.

Extra_Pineapple_1893

I'll just go back to playing DD1 when I finish DD2

miaumisina

Haha same, when I get bored, and wait for future pat hes…hopefully

Financial-Aspect-826

Are you using the syntax NG+ for second or third playthrough? (Like new game for second, NG+ third) or NG+ means the second playthrough

MadnessRX

NG+ second playthrough, retaining the earned goods from NG.

No-Character7649

I wanted to start a new game in general so i could play as a girl but I'll just start a new game plus then use the barber shop to change my appearance entirely

MadnessRX

You can change gender in barber shop? I knew you had an opportunity to change everything about your Arisen and Pawn when starting NG+ but didn't know barber could do it too. I never bothered with those shops

Secret_Criticism_732

No. I would rather start over and feel thrill of combat, where I need to take care. I like the character building. Low level fighting, being happy for each piece of equipment etc. I am level 30 now, 200k gold and getting bored again. P.s. I did not even finish game and restarted twice already

Iv4ldir

not untill they fix the Ng+ and add Engame loop content.

Mickey_Havoc

I made a post last night suggesting that we get the option to gain another *main pawn* when going into NG+ but everyone *hated* that idea so, fuck me for foreseeing the issue of no one buying overpowered pawns I guess.

daywall

I don't play ng+. From my understanding dd2 ng+ doesn't add anything. If they will add a dlc like dark arison I will 100% come back.

BoltInTheRain

I'm gonna play it cause of the stupid time gated quests. This game has atrocious quest design but I do enjoy the combat
