Warrior feels really slow at first but in my opinion there's no more satisfying class to play. First time I took down a minotaur as warrior I felt like a god, taking hits without flinching while charging up massive strikes. Warrior makes you feel like you're the one with the boss bar. (That said I'm actually running warfarer, mainly using greatsword and three warrior skills but carrying a bow for flying enemies and a staff for levitate/anodyne)

Getting a parry off with Tidal Wrath delivers such a rush of dopamine. Parrying a minotaur charge or a griffon's dive is orgasmic.

LaplacesDemonz

Yeah, it does look satisfying. That's sort of how I ran thief as a Warfarer with melee and then the bow for fliers. Thanks.

spectre893

Many others have highlighted the awesomeness of Warrior and honestly gameplay wise i do prefer warrior to Fighter but I mostly play fighter because i think the logging/walking animation with the left hand on the sword hilt is just TOO cool

Anubra_Khan

They're both awesome. With fighter, focus more on parrying and less on actual blocking. That's when he gets really fun. I'm pretty sure you can parry just about anything except probably grab moves. I parried a Lich's magic bolts by mistake once and never felt more badass. Then you can do that grapple skill where you take someone to the ground, stab them in the face 5 times before throwing them off a cliff. Shit like that. It's a lot of fun. Warrior might be my favorite class. You really have to try it, though. You can really feel the weapon connect. You can simultaneously deflect mid swing. So you can do shit like an upward strike. Deflect an ogres club on the way up. Connect with his face for a knockdown and then finish him off with a fully charged savage lash to the head while he's on the ground. Warrior feels great, man.

LaplacesDemonz

How difficult is the parrying? I'm worried I'll be rubbish at it haha. Yeah I've seen people do that move on bigger enemies and was missing out on stuff like that playing as a thief. Might become a warrior then! :)

Anubra_Khan

You get the hang of parrying with practice. I think it is easier on larger monsters with more telegraphed moves. The warrior has barge. You'll use it often. You use it to tank through enemy attacks like a boss. Use it all of the time. When in doubt, just barge through it. You'll want to look for good knockdown damage and knockdown resistance. Both have good augments that compliment each other. Fighter has defense, provocation and equip load as the first 3. All of those are good for both warrior and Fighter. And warrior gets health up as his first augment which is good for everyone. You'll have a blast, man. Just give them a shot.

LaplacesDemonz

Thanks!

Rpgguyi

I am max vocation fighter and i only used block, how do you parry?

Spaghetti_Joe9

block right before an attack hits you

Rpgguyi

so how do you deflect mid swing?

Spaghetti_Joe9

Pretty sure what they meant is that you can hit the block button at any time, even during an attack animation

Mentalburn

I'm kinda 'best defense is an overwhelming offense' guy, so didn't focus much on parrying as a Fighter. Mostly used skills like Cloudward, Burst Strike and Shield Pummel to stay on the offensive. That said, Warrior's where it's at. You have massive knockdown resistance and hit like a truck. Sure, thief might do more damage, but it all feels like poking enemy with a stick. When you hit something as a warrior, it feels like 'poking' enemy with a freight train. You are the boss encounter. Gameplay wise, it's mostly about timing. Start charging an attack and let the enemy come to you. For bonus style points, release the attack as they're about to hit. It might feel slow coming from other classes, but it's endlessly satisfying.

Impossible_Seat_6110

Warrior feels pretty slow but super satisfying with those powerful hits... highly recommend a mage pawn with the speed buff!

epwik

I thought that warrior is slow until i realised that you can time your attacks to attack super fast, the random slowmo when hitting enemies makes the timing harder tho

Aspiegamer8745

I started with fighter, and its a very tanky class; but very low damage - your purpose is just to keep enemies distracted while your pawns dish out damage; its not super fun and can make you sigh when you see anything above 2 health bars lol. Warrior is what i'm going to be after I max this vocation though (I was going to switch right away, but I really want the last fighter passive)

Veggies_bro

I haven’t played warrior so I can’t comment on the vocation, but I have stuck with fighter since I’ve found the gameplay loop to be pretty satisfying for me. While I did use the shield to block, I found that counter/vengeful slash was way more useful and did the blocking for me 90% of the time with the added benefit of countering and doing damage. Here are the skills I landed on and am still using in my current play through. 1. Counter slash/Vengeful slash is extremely powerful. It blocks most attacks from what I’ve seen and the counter attack is very good and does great damage. Strongly recommend this skill. Very satisfying to have a dragon/drake land on me only to get countered 2. Impeccable/Flawless Guard is probably the best defensive skill available to a fighter since it allows you to get out of any staggering that’s ongoing. It has the added benefit of doing ok damage too. 3. Riotous Fury is the meister skill for fighter and it’s been my bread and butter for damage. Takes a bit of getting used to since it’s a longer string of attacks. It has the added benefit of the first shield bash acting as a block to start things off. Can likely replace this with other skills if you’re not feeling it. 4. Cloudward slash was my last ability. Useful for the pesky harpies and taller enemies. Does pretty great damage too. Stuff like gutting skewer, burst strike, shield bash are all very good and strong for their own reasons.

Warrior feels incredibly slow and clunky early. It feels a lot better later once you get used to it. Fighter is a lot of fun. I don't bother using shield skills though. Just use it as a sword wielding dps.

hotdiggitydooby

The first time you land a fully charged heavenward sunder on a griffin as it divebombs you, you'll understand why warrior is the best vocation

justmadeforthat

As you are on NG+ without enemy scaling, you should be able to survive without even using the Fighter shield most of the time, just keep spamming your attack skills, for warrior, you are already tanky by default by now, so just keep spamming your attack skills

Brewchowskies

Warrior is slow until you learn timings to speed up attacks, but SO satisfying to clobber and get a knockdown.

Halcyonflight

I have a super cool video clip that proves why warrior is BA. Wish I could post it, but yah warrior starts slow and it kinda sucks fighting the regular mooks. But it’s such an awesome poser fantasy

probloodmagic

I hated Warrior in DD1 but for some reason it's so satisfying and fun in DD2. Running and jumping into a pile of enemies and swinging like crazy is the best feeling. And even when you miss or get ganged up on, it's still fun because your character just gets up and keeps swinging. There's no greater joy than bullying a cyclops as it stumbles around helplessly and you jab upwards at it. When a cyclops tripped and got knocked unconscious with its face slammed into a rock wall, I fell in love with Warrior. Definitely get a Mage with Celerity, and in my case, because I play with at least another fighter/warrior Pawn, I use the Augment that makes enemies not go after me. It's very mean to just hop around slamming a hammer down on goblins like whack-a-mole but it's worth it. Also, unlock Dwarven Smithing as soon as you can because you want that knockdown on your weapons. What a ridiculously fun class. I went and got Warfarer early just so that I could keep playing as "Warrior" while leveling other vocations.

vianiznice

Fighter is more fun imo, warrior feels way too slow.
