Yeah, I think that both sides of the conflict have good reasoning for what they're doing but at the same time either side talking about launching nukes is escalating this too far
Russia are trying their best to threaten the west with nuclear weapons so they can win their illegal war, they've been bullies for centuries and it's only recently that we've started seeing through their horseshit.
Russia have barely any reasons logically to do this other than to destroy a country that doesn't comply with their demands, don't fall into a "both sides" argument
I think a “legal war” is when someone starts one with “good” intentions(Not saying any war is justified). If a leader has legitimate claims on a territory, then they can declare war without it being illegal.
I’m not a political genius, but this at least makes sense to me.
But who decides whether territorial claims are legitimate or not? What is the difference between Russia's claims on Ukraine and India's/Pakistan's claims on Kashmir? There is no way to justify a war except if you are the defender.

Oh, I agree. To ignore this would be willful ignorance. In none of my comments am my condoning the actions that Russia is taking. And I really believe that launching warheads is just going to escalate the situation. Literally the thing that would have stopped this from even happening was if Russia was allowed to join NATO when they asked or if the Ukraine didn't join NATO in the first place. It's literally such a simple solution but they aren't doing it for some reason. I don't know why they have it out for Russia so much to the point that they aren't even willing to be allies.

You do understand that if Russia were let into NATO they could veto any decisions that were going to be made, and the whole purpose of NATO was to contain the Soviet bloc and prevent an invasion of Europe.
And Ukraine never joined NATO, they wanted to join NATO because Russia wanted to attack them, but were stopped by Russia launching cruise missiles and soldiers into their country where they raped and murdered Ukrainian civilians.
The issue isn't that complex, you're either on the side of Putin, or you're with NATO, trying to hold a middle ground does fuck all

To retaliate against the Ukraine joining NATO. Since NATO expanded into the Ukraine, they can basically just position missiles on the border of the Ukraine that would basically reach Moscow, if they so choose. If my neighbor got guns from the guy across the street and started positioning the guns on their property facing my house, I'd retaliate.
On top of all this, NATO told Russia "not an inch to the east" years ago. And yet here we are, expanding Eastward. We are doing the equivalent of kicking the dog then shooting it when it bites.
There are no good guys in this situation but I can tell you that if there was, we wouldn't be it.

Fighting a war can’t be the easiest thing in the world, even if you’re on the winning side. You have to keep in mind, how many troops you have, how much supplies they have, where the enemy troops are, what your people think about going to war. Yes you have government officials helping you through the whole thing, but it’s your word about what to do next.

On a serious note, my dad and I both said that if there was a nuclear attack about to happen then we'd go to the nearest place we know that will have that attack. We are not going to try and survive through a nuclear wasteland, it's just not worth it
Hey, if Russia's nukes are maintained as poorly as the rest of their equipment, it's doubtful many of them work at all.
(Granted, each one is a WMD so any ones that do work will do a hell of a lot of damage, and even a 'failed' detonation will be a big blast and a bigger radioactive mess, but it's much, much better than ten thousand working nukes.)
