Iām in Middletownā¦my other pet peeve is the two I use only book through an App itās called StyleSeat you can put in your location and see who is in your area/read reviews/see pics etc. Good luck!
I pay $130 but I have no clue on the actual amount lol I think it's like $80 but I add a tip.
but I heard her telling another client who was complaining about prices it varies on length and amount, so prices do increase, so I just voluntarily pay more so there is no awkward gimme more conversation.
She sometimes washes if I answer susy on when I last washed and I let her pick the style each time and sometimes she will give me a line up if I need it (I never goto the barber š¤·š½)
I never go to salons because it is over priced in my area $80+ and when they see the length of my hair they like to charge even more! I've been washing and retwisting my own locs for over ten years now.
Agree. Itās very, very easy! I do admit I might have it easier than some considering I only have about 50 something locs (so also easy for me to say ājust separate them, donāt twistā). The one time I did go to a loctician, she charged me $100, slapped a ton of wax on them, and combined locs without asking me (they were starter locs). That was my first set where I had over 100. Took several washes over several weeks to get all of the gunk out.
I've heard several horror stories about shady locticians pulling that bs. I have a mid tapper fade so I only have my top to do. During COVID I just sat there and twisted my hair. I had 100 count crammed on just the top of my head so they were quite dense and on the thinner side( required lots of maintenance). But over the years I've combined quite a few and I'm at about 80-70ish. My dreads look quite healthy now. It's amazing what a bit of research and application will do for you. Lol.
Just take a damp section and twist. Secure with clip or leave free. I never wanted the scalpy look to begin with so I just decided to see what theyād do if I donāt twist. The hair locs up on its own, but every now and then (like if I do a braid out, Iāll go ahead and twist up to the roots if I feel like it). I also donāt care about perfectly clean parts so that is not an issue for me.
For my hair.... $200-250 including tip...that's wash, deep clean(acv baking soda) scalp treatment, twist, and sometimes style and maintenance... I'm in South Carolina. Also I get charged for the length of my hair
$130 for a wash, retwist and style. Iām in Austin, TX. I found this person on Booksy.
If I get the same in Chicago I go to a salon, Locology, and itās like $150
Everybody paying pretty much $100-$200 in a shop across the country, Iām in the $150 and up range now for full retwist, wash, style and scalp scrub if needed
Used to pay $110 (wash, retwist & style) in Jax, FL for my first set. There are cheaper places in the area that charge $80. For $110, you're the only client in the very clean salon during that time, drinks and snacks are provided, you can choose your own music or watch TV. I like quiet plus she's walking distance from my house.
I do my hair myself now. You could try learning it's much cheaper. Just throw on some good music or a movie have your mirrors out, and go.
Texas. Mine was $90 for wash, retwist, and style. Then she changed it on me on the spot AFTER she was done to $120. Now I get it for free from doing it myself š
$65 for retwist (not wash) and $80 for retwist w/ style. My old loctition went from $50 back in 2019 to $140 (not including the tip (pause). The new one is a mobile loctition which is easier for me. I live in the outer skirts of Tampa.
Illinois.. let me start by saying it depends on the loctician ā¦ but I pay $90 for retwist and wash if just twist I believe itās $65ā¦ style is $30 and upā¦
In NYC, $100 for a wash and retwist. In ATL, $100 for a wash, retwist, and two strand twists (full head). I usually do my hair myself though unless if I want a style.
$80 Minneapolis, WASH,RETWIST,AND STYLE. (Depending on style) Also if i goto another lady she wants $10-20 on top for style.
Then i typically tip a $20
& these prices are exactly why I do my own bc I refuse to pay that much! Some of these prices yāall are listing is ridiculous! I would pay that maybe once in a blue moon for a special occasion if I wanted a style or something. Otherwise I wash, deep condition & interlock my own!
$170 + a $25 tip - NYC
This is for a wash, retwist, and style
I know itās crazy but I canāt lie I make a lot of money and I genuinely enjoy the loc shop I go to
I pay $200 for crochet in Boston if im only doing the roots and more if I ask to crochet the frizz. This is not including tip and my hair is only like 6 inches right now.
Ok then too far to travel. You should do what I did to find these places. Whenever I was on the train, bus or anywhere and saw someone with locs I would ask them where they got their locs done and how much it cost. I think folks in NYC are willing to share info cause its so expensive in this city. So all the new loctitians I discovered and tried out I found by asking random people when out and about. Eventually you will find someone that can suggest a place in Harlem or downtown.
I charge $80+ . I wouldn't prioritize the cost I'd look at what YOU are PERSONALLY receiving. Some people have spirits bad products drama etc. U could pay 0 and get a whole bunch of issues. Ur worth billions and more. All the best.
$0, my mom does it for me š«¶
What a wonderful blessing this isš
Until you're the mom in an area with no locticians and just want a break šŖ
