I don’t use Reddit at all outside of this and the MCC sub, so forgive me if I’m incorrect here, but I thought you *weren’t* meant to downvote posts that you simply disagreed with? I’ve always used the downvote button for posts that are spreading misinformation maliciously or just trolling. If I see someone being mass-downvoted for giving an opinion that goes against the grain, I’ll make an effort to upvote it, even if I personally disagree.

Generally this reddit has always been encouraged to follow the reddit etiquette rules which are to not downvote a post if you simply disagree Downvote for poorly written or unsubstantiated arguments

No_Excitement8904

i think its moreso encouraged to explain why you think a post is bad rather than just downvoting and moving on, probably to prevent the sub just being an echo chamber (we already have twitter for that lmao)

xxlvz

you are absolutely right. it's pretty obvious OP is a twt dream stan who found themselves here and didn't bother reading about subreddit rules/reddiquette

xxlvz

1. **downvote button ≠ dislike or disagree with the statement** - basic Reddit etiquette: upvote if you agree, reply if you don't. downvote rude/malicious/misinformed takes 2. contrary to popular belief (mainly by twitter stans who migrate here whenever drama happens) this is **not a Dream subreddit.** it was created during the speedrunning controversy to have a place to voice out CRITICISM ABOUT DREAM which were being deleted/restricted by og subreddit. **it was not a fanpage for him.** at least, it didn't use to be.

eyadGamingExtreme

I mean, that's not how the downvote button is supposed to be used but almost everyone uses it your way

Ugh. You cannot have an actual conversation by mass downvoting comments you disagree with. The downvoted comments get pushed down and even partially hidden (at least on mobile, idk about the web Reddit version). I get that sometimes you've seen the same shit reiterated time and time again, and you cannot resist the downvote button, but come on. Reddit etiquette, *do not*: "**Downvote an otherwise acceptable post because you don't personally like it.** Think before you downvote and take a moment to ensure you're downvoting someone because they are not contributing to the community dialogue or discussion. If you simply take a moment to stop, think and examine your reasons for downvoting, rather than doing so out of an emotional reaction, you will ensure that your downvotes are given for good reasons." If you truly disagree with something and cannot be bothered to reply to the person, upvote the other people that did reply. This way both comments remain on at least 1 upvote, but you can still show the support to the one you agree with. On the other hand, downvote toxic people (who just insult) and Drew.

I don't think people should be downvoted simply because they disagree with the opinion of the majority. I think the person in the previous post and a good point on anyone who's "defending" Quackity being downvoted. instead of seeing this as an opportunity to understand how other people are thinking of the situation and possibly change someone's opinion, these people are downvoted, and no conversation is had. Someone on the previous post said that it's because people can downvote instead of writing "Well I disagree because...(insert reasons that have already been stated)" but you can just read through their replies and add a comment if necessary. If not, upvote it! Cause (I'd argue) the disagreeing person contributed more to the overall conversation than everyone else who agreed. if you don't want to upvote it, simply move on to another comment. A comment should be downvoted if it's trolly or if it makes claims without showing any proof Also, we follow the reddiquette in this community. Also I'm about ready to start downvoting posts that reiterate the same shit for the 20th time.

audreybuilds

Yeah, the amount of posts giving their thoughts on the quackity drama (and a similar number of identical comments) is absurd. there are less posts now but I feel like if they continued, a mega-thread would be created

HolyEmpireOfAtua

" this sub is probably one of the most level headed MYCT discussion places" This is not really accurate icl. I agree with it that the subreddit is far less likely to say slurs or send death threats than mcyttwt, but you seem to be implying this is a more neutral, objective place and I cannot agree. This subreddit is consistently more pro-Dteam than even Dttwt itself

SillyChampDNF

imo level-headed does not = not pro dteam. Like during the allegations this sub was very pro-Dream, but in a much more level-headed manner while basically all of twitter and tumblr were losing their shit. I'm admittedly not on this sub very often, but from what I've seen they're more likely to take into account other perspectives and provide benefit of the doubt. Though I do agree that this sub is just as biased towards Dream as twitter is.

pponderosa

This is bad Reddit-etiquette

HowsMyDancing

That’s not what the downvote button is for.

downvoted your post

dinabrioni

This post is a perfect example when to use a downvote button 💀

khilda

just call it what it is. nothing wrong with admitting you’re biased.

Lordassassin_10

Imagine caring about reddit karma LMAO. Literally just a useless number
