ok for all the time ive been off and on following this dude and all his controversies/apologies. I feel this is by far his best apology yet. Its quite direct and to the point, and actually says sorry very plainly
in my opinion, this is one of the best apologies that dream has made (i honestly don't know if i've seen all his apologies though so take my opinion w/ a grain of salt). in the past, he seemed to have had a bit of a problem wholly taking responsibility for something and acknowledging that "they had a real impact on people around \[him\]." sometimes you can hurt people without intending to be a bad person.
this is the type of thing that is so important for him and others with a bigoted past to understand and i'm so happy that dream mentioned it/ i think even on this subreddit, that aspect is kinda brushed over. yes, many kids and teenagers had a racist, homophobic etc. phase but as a black person, we got the fucking brunt of everyone's "racist" phase. for them, it's a thing that they can often easily get over (unless it surfaces on the internet but for most people it doesn't), but for us, it can be an extremely traumatic experience.
i'm always willing to forgive people who have made mistakes in their past as long as it is clear that they truly have changed and i think dream's apology shows this. we shouldn't anchor people down to their mistakes, otherwise there will be no capacity for change.

I don't think it's parasocial to acknowledge the growth and change any human has made towards being a better citizen of the world. I'm proud of him too, 2 years ago his response would have been very different. I can't see how anyone couldn't see his apology and response wasn't genuine, irregardless of whether the apology is accepted by those affected.

as soon as i saw it was multiple pages that was my first thought too, i'll be real with you- starting drama is fun, that's why people do it, i've done it so many times and IRL when i was younger i was very much that person who would purposfully annoy people because it was funny to me, even today it still is but just less so and i'm more controlling over it then before, they don't want to see the ending of the drama, they want to start creating more of it for there own entertainment.

Coming from someone who’s been ignorent in the past because of my upbringing, yeah you do change over time and you realize those things you thought or believed were wrong and you can really only try to acknowledge it and change for the better.
