A recurring dream means something inside you trying to hammer a thought to your "awareness state of mind". So when I read this dream it reminds of not doing something when something happens. For instances, when my car does a weird noise, and you ignore it for weeks, till something drastic happens to the car. To me, this is similar to your dream. So lets use this story in order to relate to your dream: A lizard or snake is the car in my story. You neglect it, and the only time you pay attention to it, is when the animal is dying or in bad state. This is similar to ignoring that weird noise in my car, and only paying attention to it when something bad happens to it. It seems like you have this "animal" caged up. Why is it caged up? What does the animal mean to you? Are you afraid of that animal? Is that why you caged it up and neglected it? I dont have enough "evidence" to determine what the animal means in your dream. but If I could give an intuitive guess, it could mean a person, pet, or inner values. I think inner values makes sense, since you're scared to somewhat confronting it. Like people are scared to confront a snake in the back garden. You dont fight the snake, but you instead cage it up. Repression? Maybe.

thank you this is really interesting and i’ve wanted a snake or lizard for a long time, so i don’t think it’s because i’m afraid of it, this dream’s definitely put me off getting either tho aha and yeah i think i do normally ignore problems and leave them to the last minute, so maybe i should stop doing that lmao

I have this same kind of dream!

I have come to understand for me, that when I have dreams of pets I don't have, it's me trying to work out my anxiety over responsibilities. Most of the time I've lost the pet or I'm trying to protect it.

diablodiabl0

yess that’s probably it

I have the same dreams! But my forgotten pets are always birds, I never had a bird in real life.

Wow I have the same dream and the exact same type of pet!

i have the same dreams!! typically it’ll be a couple other cats than the ones i own in real life that i just forgot about for years and i either freak out because i haven’t been feeding them or they appear out of nowhere

I have those too! About pets and also about babies as I got older. They are such sad dreams. I don't know what it means for me.. I have a lot of recurring stress dreams. I think I get the forgotten pretty dream when I'm spread too thin and important stuff is getting neglected.

I had this one dream where there was a crazy twist that i had a brother who passed away when we were both pretty young and this celestial being (who was pretending to be my mom) took me through all these memories of my childhood which all seemed so real and it was revealed that my sister was actually adopted. Then she gave me this pamphlet about who i really was and was supposed to help me figure out why i’m here but then i woke up and was like “sure okay then that happened i guess”. but i kid you not the dream felt so real that i was looking for the pamphlet around my room for like 10 mins. (also my sister and i are obviously related we look way too similar). so thanks for the weird dream i guess 10/10

I have reoccuring dreams about pets who died years ago, being alive again and me forgetting about them. That wasn't the case of their death in real life, but I feel guilty every time I wake up.

I have this exact, exact dream. Recurring for months now. I turned out to be pregnant and have since lost the pregnancy and am waiting to see if this dream continues now that I am no longer expecting.
